Stopped in for lunch and I really enjoyed the restaurant. We started off with a Portuguese Chorizo which was served over flaming aguardiente. It was really good. For my entree I had the double cut veal chop which was cooked perfectly. My girlfriend had the caldo verde which she really enjoyed. Our son had the short rib which he loved. The food was really tasty and flavorful. We had excellent service. The wait staff was really good in regard to explaining the menu and giving us suggestions. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

We were in town for a family gathering. This is the place they picked for dinner. The service was good and has a lively atmosphere. We shared quite a few appetizers: Homemade Meatballs, Bang Bang Shrimp,, Eggplant Rollatini, and Roasted Brussels Sprouts. All were excellent. For entrees: Flames Octopus, Chicken Parmigiana, Pork Chop, Rigatoni in Pink (added chicken). Everyone was very satisfied with their choices.

We came here for a girls' dinner -- a group of about 10 of us -- and had a lovely time. We were seated in the back room, which was nice and private. My cousin added her own decorations since it was a secret special occasion for her, and the space worked out perfectly for that. The service was solid, and the restaurant itself is very clean -- definitely appreciated that. For my entrée, I ordered the New York Strip Pizzaiola: grilled steak with peppers, onions, mushrooms, and a Barolo wine sauce, served with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were really good, but I wasn't a fan of the Barolo wine sauce -- it just wasn't to my taste. The dish was okay overall, but I'd definitely come back and try something else on the menu. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée -- and it was absolutely delicious! Perfectly creamy with that crisp, caramelized top. A sweet ending to the night.

Updating my review Great service and staff Went with friend during a week day for quick dinner and food and service was awesome We had great drinks at the bar too The mahi was super tender and full of flavor with an amazing citrus salad and avocado on side . The mussels were good but the portion was small and the sauce a bit more sweeter than expected. Continued staple in Monroe !

Went for my birthday and the drinks were amazing. Tiramisu martini was delicious. Wife had Caesar salad and Lobster Ravioli. I had Veal Florentine and Tartufo for dessert with cappuccino. Service impeccable by everyone. The ambiance is wonderful as we had been there before as the Mexican restaurant. Parking easy and noise level just enough. Will be back

Service was great, food was delicious. The ambiance was warm, cozy, and intimate. The food was delicious -- I had their mushroom ravioli and ate every single bite. I would go back here just for those raviolis. Thanks !

Perfect way to end the evening!

Very nice local restaurant. The pasta dish was very good and not too heavy. It was a good portion to finish or take a little home. Drinks and coffee were also good. Not too pricey and I would definitely go back. Service was very friendly and a great place for a quiet dinner to catch up with a friend!

This location is where the Shearwater beans are actually roasted (in 20lb batches, which counts as "really small" in the coffee industry). When I came by, I received a friendly and enthusiastic greeting from the personnel on site, who expressed no annoyance at being diverted from their normal wholesale activities. Shearwater has good beans, and those beans are roasted with care. I came in for some ground coffee that I could use while visiting Central Connecticut and walked away with a full pound of roasted coffee in the bean, 12oz of ground coffee, and a cold brew coffee to drink on my way back. The cold brew was delicious, and I liked the ground coffee (Honduras, I think) as well. The unground coffee made its way down to Philadelphia, where it's giving great pleasure to its recipients. Although Shearwater has espresso machines and some pour-over equipment on site, only the cold brew was available to retail customers like me. That was fair enough, but still somehow disappointing. If you're around Trumbull and are looking for some excellent coffee to take home, head directly to Shearwater without passing Go. Check their hours before you do, though; note for example that they close at 2PM on Fridays.

That being said, they always have at least one coffee brewing. On this early weekday afternoon, I got a 12 ounce of the Running Rapids (usually their cold brew) for $3.19. As other Yelpers have mentioned, there's no milk or sugar, leading to a pure and complex coffee experience. After letting it cool a bit, it was very deep and flavorful. It was nice to see a bit of the operation since the space is open. There are a few shelves with coffee accessories and a few stools for perching.

We received our food and drinks quickly. We ordered two iced strawberry matcha lattes. Unfortunately, they were pretty terrible and borderline undrinkable. I don't doubt that their coffee is good, but this was disappointing. The color was not great, it had no actual matcha flavor, and not nearly sweetened enough (even with the strawberry syrup). It pretty much tasted like chalky water with strawberry seeds. I ordered the turkey bacon, egg, Gouda cheese with spinach on a multigrain roll. I enjoyed it, and both the turkey and eggs were cooked well. I feel like there wasn't enough cheese, but maybe that's just me. However, the sandwich was kind of dry and I had to ask for ketchup so I could just have some moisture. My partner ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich. The chicken didn't have much flavor, but the sauce was good.

When we arrived we were told it would be just a few minutes as we were early. No problem! We had no agenda so that was completely fine. However, our reservation was at 1pm and we did not get seated until 1:30pm. It would not have been as bad if one of the staff simply came out to say sorry we will get you seated as soon as we can. There was literally no contact with anyone. We kept poking our heads around to make sure they knew we were there. The worst part was there were numerous open tables. I would've been fine had they sat us as given us some water vs. just waiting in the waiting room Once we were seated, our waitress was as pleasant as anyone could be. Very very kind. We ordered the winter tea service and started out with the tea sandwiches. They were very tasty as was the tea. Because we were so hungry we finished everything before the scones arrived. Once they arrived, they nice and warm which was a nice touch. However, the inside was still raw and doughy. I picked around it as best I could. The pianist was a nice addition. I just wish, especially with this being a surprise that it would have a better experience.

The photos and menu looked great - I had no idea they only opened a couple months ago, until our server mentioned it. You wouldn't guess it, based on the attention to detail and how smoothly everything runs. It's a lovely space. They take your coats, give you purse hooks, and have a piano player jazzing up the ambiance with mellow yet uplifting tunes. The table was set perfectly with china and all the accessories you need with tea. There is a fancy/classy, yet casual, vibe. We were excited to find out we could both pick our own teas and that we didn't have to agree on one tea service (for food). The scones and treats were the same on all, but the sandwich selection varied on the three different afternoon tea menus. I opted for the "classic", which came with coronation chicken salad, ham/cheddar/mango chutney, cucumber, smoked salmon, and egg salad sandwiches. My husband got the "teas around the world" which came with Brie/apple/honey, ham/gruyere/dijon, olive tapenade/sundried tomato, chickpea/tzatziki, and a spiced chicken sandwich. All were excellent!! And when we finished, they even offered us more if we wanted them. The teas were great! We were allowed to pick our own teas (didn't have to share) from a broad menu of teas. The owner buys direct in London to get some of the finest teas that are not available locally. I am caffeine free so opted for Marian Wright Edelman's Guardian's Grace, a fruity herbal tea that was relaxation in a teacup for me. My husband first tried the Elizabeth Cady Stanton's Strength Blend, and the also had Mary McLeod Bethune's Essence of Uplift. They were all different, but all very tasty, and perfectly brewed. It also wasn't lost on me that the teas were named after amazingly strong women throughout history, and that we were enjoying them at a woman owned business, on International Women's Day! The scones were delivered fresh out of the oven with your choice of clotted cream, jam, or lemon curd (YES to all, please!) or also butter. The pastries I believe are a rotating selection, but all were tasty bites. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, welcoming, and hospitable. It's a nice easy pace, with two hours reserved for your experience. It was a wonderful escape from reality! I really appreciate Laurie, Donjae, and Ingrid for creating the perfect experience for us today. 10/10 highly recommend. Call ahead for reservations!
