The taste is good but it's a bit of a rip off to serve something like lasagna with one or maybe two layers. The chicken parm was still delicious as was the polenta appetizer. Let's begin with all the ways the food was subpar. First- my mother did the fixed price menu. They forgot one of her courses entirely. The shrimp cocktail was not in the building. Not that it's a huge loss- you get four measley shrimp. Then, the lamb chops were supposed to come with arugula- and the "salad" was a weird container of lettuce and cannellini beans- beans were never mentioned anywhere on this menu. We honestly didn't even know whose meal that was supposed to pair with because nothing like it was on the entire menu. Food allergy risk anybody? The lamb chops were also bone dry- no trace of the reduction or glacier sauce that the menu specified. The worst offense of all were the salad dressings. They were completely inedible! The balsamic vinaigrette was just pure vinegar- like get out your Easter eggs to dye because that's really all you can do with straight vinegar. The raspberry vinaigrette had the consistency of a jam and lo and behold, tasted like a container of raspberry jam. Another was pure olive oil and the honey mustard was oily and way too honey- I think they forgot the mustard part. On top of the food being a total train wreck- the worst part was the service. From start to finish the staff was rude and made it seem like they were doing us a favor by serving us- that's your literal job! Both when we placed the order, picked up the food AND when my mom drove back to get her missing course they acted like we were such an inconvenience and annoyance. For the prices they charge- all of this was unacceptable. Pack orders correctly. Make edible food. Treat your customers with the slightest bit of hospitality. It's not hard to figure out. It's worth noting that when we returned for our missing course another customer was there demanding money back for spoiled food they were given on new years as well. Patrons of Shelton- raise your standards! We don't have a ton of higher end dining options and thus the ones we do have need to exceed expectations. My meds in Ma were much much cheaper for the same meds than here. Shop & Shop in Monroe, Ct should make it easier for seniors by having a pharmacy instead of having to Stop & Shop in Newtown.
