This is where we go when we can't think of where to go or what we want to eat and where we want to meet family. It's super casual and the foods always good. I've been a few times, once I got the pizza and the other time I got chicken piccata. I think this place shines with their dinners. My husband always gets the chicken parm and my sister tried the gnocchi with vodka sauce. We all enjoyed our meals. My dad was intrigued by the tripe special entree, which was very difficult but he enjoyed it. He liked his fagoli soup too. We had cappuccinos too, delicious! Service is like your mom is serving you, they usually only have one server but she's working hard and making everyone happy. Ya can't go wrong here. read more

If you're familiar with the old Vinny's pizza in Bridgeport then you would love Sal's Pizza. I believe they are brothers, everything about it reminds me of Vinny's. I got my usual cheese pizza and loved it. I took my mom here for Mother's Day, she got the broccoli cavatelli and loved it, said it was better than Vinny's. Waitress was a sweet Italian woman and there are plenty of booths to sit in along with a family style table in the middle, love this kind of ambiance. Great prices, I definitely intend to come back here very soon. read more

This is our regular weekly pizza spot. Probably a 7.5 pizza on Dave Portnoy's ratings scale which is a good basic pizza that you could have every week if you live in the area. Always makes the pies in about ten minutes from when we call it in to come pick it up. Even on their busiest Friday's and Saturday's. I also like they stay open a hour longer than the other pizza places in the area. All reasons we go get a pie here weekly. read more

It's located in a small plaza and ended up at this location via Yelp, we were stuck in traffic jam on I- 84 near Danbury CT going west-created by minor accident. It was six pm and were really hungry. So easier way after next exit was pizza place next to Subway so we took detour of 20 minutes to get to this location using Yelp directions. It's owned by Sal who welcomed us and were seated. I needed to have a glass of Cabernet to calm down which helped us ordered crispy pizza with onions and green peppers as well as Eggplant Parmigiana grinder. They searched us complimentary loaf of warm bread with butter while waiting for the dinner to arrive. Being cooked fresh required time but it was worth the wait. Sal's is a jewel in an area of multiple Italian restaurants. On our third visit my wife and I decided to post a review and both agreed that we should patronize Sal's more often. To start, the waitress was friendly and attentive and immediately took our wine order. Hot recently baked bread was served and then we shared a mixed salad which was plentiful for two people. Our order of Shrimp Parmigiana was served piping hot with a delicious marinara sauce and plentiful cheese along with a side order of pasta. The shrimp were huge, nicely breaded and enough for a small take home serving. The dining area has comfortable booths and tables for large gatherings. For a Saturday night, the noise level was minimal but don't expect white table cloths as this is a real family restaurant and not fancy dining. The price of $20 for Shrimp Parmigiana is a bargain along with similar prices for the the usual Italian menu selections. (A local newly opened Italian restaurant down the same highway charges $40 for the same menu item!) Not a pretentious restaurant but a busy kitchen and a local favorite. Hope the owners do not sell in the near future. read more

Pizza and chicken marsala was super okay, which honestly might be a compliment. Waitress was incredibly friendly, it was busy and she took time with us, albeit we never were given refills on our waters. Silverware was dirty, both forks! I also noticed someone pouring water in the made coffee sitting in the pot, but not sure if that was coffee to be served or just for the kitchen staff. Pizza dough was rubbery, sauce tangy but not so much in a good way, cheese wasn't anything to write home about. If I was local to them I'd absolutely give them another try, I have a feeling they could be a decent go to spot, but I probably wouldn't make it back there as I'm not local to them. read more

We regular sals. At least 1-2x per month, usually for pizza Friday (get there early as there is usually a line for dine in and Togo). The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I like that they have the old school placemats which the kids (and I) love to color on! They have delicious fresh bread and butter to start. I believe it is only beer and wine but we have never asked for anything nor is it advertised anywhere. They always have specials posted on the chalk board as you walk in. We have never ever had a bad meal, EVER. The pizza is delicious. We usually go for the sals special or a sausage and Gorgonzola pie. The kids always get the chicken tenders and French fries and fries mozz. One of my favorite things to order is pictured. I get the chicken picatta grilled with spinach instead of pasta. Another fun reason why the kids love it here is that they have quarter machines and a crane game (bring your quarters!) read more

I love their crispy pizzas and the veal and pepper grinders with the real cubes of veal stewed in tomato sauce! Reminds me of my granmother's veal and pepers. Those items can't be beat and are a nice and welcomed carryover from the old great 'Vinny's ' on Huntington Tpke I grew up with. I recently had family visiting and ordered takeout meals as they were in the mood for more of a dinner experience than pizza or grinders. The order included a pasta bolognase, alfredo, and chicken frances, and chicken marsala. My wife and sister in law stated that the chiclen frances was the best they had ever had, with the other chicken dishes also exceptional. As these dishes are their go to orders at other restaurants this was no inconsequential statement. The meals included salads, bread, and pasta sides. Sals allowed red sauce on the ziti sides rather than just the frances sauce as my wife cannot go without it when ordering italian, finding the rich chicken sauces on the pasta sometimes too much of a good thing. Despite this, all of that savory sauce was quickly soaked up and eaten using the italian bread . Portions were large enough that they provided the girls with lunch the next day. Next time I would like to eat in the restaurant as it appears to have a pleasant fresh upgrade from prior years read more

Forgot to review which is a shame since they are so very good. I've come here on and off for years. They do have really great food. It isn't just the pizza although that is really good. Try their Chicken Francese. They make it fantastic. They also make great garlic bread which, many times, I get as an appetizer. You can get it with cheese or without but personally I'd get it with since their cheese has a great taste. I like how the place is set up too. Tall booths give you privacy and it is generally quiet inside. They also have some really good desserts. The only negative that I can think of is service can be extremely slow. Not always. It is really hit or miss in that regard. I do not know why that is but I've noticed it as have others I've come here with. The food however is great and the atmosphere is cozy and down to earth. Sal's has been trucking for a long time too! They are a solid go to place for good Italian food. read more

Service was great/friendly. The carbonara was delicious. My friend loved the tripe special and fra diavlo with seafood. The margarita pizza extra cheese was also very good and I am a pizza snob. It's not new haven pizza but it's definitely solid. I would get it again for sure. read more

Have ordered from Sal's multiple times after finding the joint in the past couple of months. Staff is not friendly which is surprising considering they are a mom & pop restaurant that smells like an old 90's McDonalds in a sleepy little town, but I guess people in this area don't know any better. Anyways the pizza was consistently good the first few times but the last couple of times I ordered the pizza tastes completely reheated. It's as if Sal's gets a bunch of pizzas half baked and ready to go - you call in your order and they just put your toppings on and pop it in the oven to finish it off. Came here for dinner, service was okay. The place was busy for 6pm on a Friday night. The food was a large portion and good prices. The service was kind of slow and the cleanliness of the place was sub par. They could use another waiter or buss boy to clean the tables. Their was a long line in the front and a lot of dirty tables. The bathroom was quite dirty as well. I may come back in a few weeks and try again. read more

Sal's is an awesome place for Italian food. He makes the best " Escarole and bean " soup I have ever tasted. His pizza is fantastic. I have yet to have a bad meal there. Zipper de Pesce is enough for two people and is fabulous! The waitstaff are really friendly. Sal is too! Once you get the know him he is a really nice guy. I ordered a " small " antipasto and when it came I though they gave me a large by mistake. Again- enough for two people. The prices are VERY reasonable as well. Go! Rude workers & owner. Called at 9:15pm to place a takeout order. First time I called, someone picked up the phone and hung up. Called again, older man with strong Italian accent picked up, only saying 'hello?', in a rude tone. I say I'd like to place an order for pick up. He responds "who says I'm open" and hung up the phone. They're open until 10pm. All I wanted was a small cheese pie. We recently needed to plan a small luncheon after a funeral and decided to go to Sal's. We were in a side room for privacy, which was wonderful.
