Haven't been to the Grove location since the before times (pre-pandemic), do they have outdoor seating?

    They do

    Does this place deliver?

Not sure, maybe Uber or Grubhub?

Is there a new year's eve cover or reservations required?

Hi, never a cover and they actually don't accept reservations. I wouldn't think they would be too busy today. They're usually pretty empty on holidays.

The new hired staff is incredibly rude and we've had multiple experiences where we've tried to go back and have a good time but have been met with inhospitable and snarky demeanors from the entire staff. I once asked if they would be bringing the pool table back, seeing as it was an amenity that brought in a large crowd of people to the bar, and the blonde bartender responded saying no we don't have a table in a tone implying i was stupid for even asking. Recently I went to watch the world cup and had asked the male bartender if we could spare one TV to watch the game, he responded very sarcastically that the game was on, (referring to the NBA final as if it's the only game people care about) all the time he was too busy watching the Basketball game to turn on the other TV let alone get me a drink. There has been no quality service at this bar since this management change and it's really sad to see another local grove spot being ruined by bad management and service practices. The return of a pool table would be the only thing to save this bar and being in the crowd they once had. That, and a review of healthy service practices to the entire staff.

The restaurant sits next to the Coconut Grove marina, and is accessible by land or sea. The atmosphere always feels like you're on a Caribbean vacation. Our server was Iria and she was friendly, knowledgeable on the menu and perfectly attendant. She wasn't hovering over us but checked on us enough where we were perfectly taken care of. We started with an order of the peel & eat shrimp. This is seasoned with old bay and it was delicious; only complaint is they weren't cleaned very well, several of them were cut open but the "vein" was still very present. This is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, probably should give 3 but the rest really made up for it. For the main courses my bf had the seafood pasta which he said was good, although the sauce was a bit plain (he described it as having a ragu flavor). I had the Baja tacos at his suggestion and boy was it a good recommendation. It comes with 3 tacos and they are packed with fish. They were absolutely delicious. The tacos also come with a small side of elote which had a strong citrus flavor, absolutely delicious. All in all, I don't know why we don't come here more often but we will. Monty's should always be an option when the weather is right.

We just got off our 7-night cruise on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas this morning and pick up a car from the airport to meet up with Brian for lunch before our flight home. He suggested Monty's since he has been here a couple of times. The place is huge and there was already a line before they even opened at 11:30 am! They have a live band that started playing right away so it made our meals more enjoyable. I didn't get a chance to snap pictures since we all started eating as soon as the food came. We shared appetizers - Gator Bites, very tender and flavorful! I highly recommend! The Yucca Fries (We've only had them in Sanc Juan) were so good! A must try, if you haven't had them. The Crispy Crab Cake Bites were utterly delicious! Main dish - I had the Grouper with mango salsa, black beans and rice. It was a good portion and was cooked perfectly. It paired nicely with the mango salsa. Chris raved about the Seafood ceviche! It was fresh with tons of fish, shrimp and octopus. Brian had a dozen fresh oysters. They were fresh and juicy!

I ordered on DoorDash hoping for "good enough." What I got was unreal. The burger was absolute perfection. Juicy, bold, perfectly balanced blue cheese. I literally had tears in my eyes while demolishing it. It was that good. But here's what made it unforgettable: they included the sweetest note, a brownie, and even little toys in the bag. I was not prepared for that level of thoughtfulness. It completely changed my night. I called to thank them personally and Umberto, the manager, was incredibly kind and genuinely appreciative. Never have I ever felt so seen by a burger place. Five stars isn't enough. They didn't just deliver food. They delivered comfort.

OMG I tried a piece of this big slice and died and went to heaven. Utter addictiveness in flavor and texture including their homemade crust. Not too often Im impressed with how Key lime pie is made and this ranks 2nd on my list of places to go for key lime pie. The indoor ambience was cool with memorabilia all over the wall like a small TV playing star wars movie, a retro TV in the bathroom painted the words on it "Legalize Kush". Also graffiti art on the walls. Very cool spot in the grove. Since it was a nice cool evening, we opted to sit outdoors. Nice. Eventually the bill came in a CD case! Haha.

It was their trivia night, I believe there was a $1500 pot if you win. Everyone seemed to be playing. We arrived to late to join. The place was packed yet there were only two servers. Our server was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. However she managed to keep up with out party of 9. There were times we were waiting for assistance however we could see she wasn't just sitting on her ass. We order burgers, flat breads, tenders and steak tacos. Steak tacos were horrible Burgers were delicious Flatbread were good Tenders definitely looked like they were frozen tenders from the grocer. The beverages were nice not too strong but not weak. We were kinda profiled however as a black person you get use to it. My husband and brother stepped out for a smoke break..although everyone else was still seated at the table. We watched security run out after them. We laughed cause they looked stupid. When security ran out there they pretended to be looking at something when they noticed they guys were right outside the door. Irish pub we didn't expect any less. However it was kinds funny how the guy darted out after them then aimlessly looked around after he realized they were smoking a cigarette ‍

I realized that I had not actually been to this location since it was The Playwright (or whatever it was called) 4 or 5 years ago. The updated interior is nice - very "pubby" - and they offer a good variety of seating from bar seats to high-tops to couches. Two things here that were standouts: First, the burger is one of the best burgers I've had on South Beach. So much so that I'm craving it again this morning. They've done a good job with the menu in that it still has all those bar foods that you look for in a place like this, but they've put some thought into elevating a number of items (e.g. the short rib poutine!) Second, the service was great. Our server (sorry, can't remember his name - a nice guy from Kendall) was very friendly and provided excellent service. As many reviews mention, this is definitely a place to watch a game. While we weren't there for this purpose last night, the TV setup is great and I could def see myself camping out there with a few beers on a weekend afternoon. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I'll be back again for sure.
