HOLLA WHISKEY! This place is the Fort Knox of Whiskey! Seriously, they must have well over 100 different varieties, including some from Washington and Oregon. Its by far the one of the most impressive selections I have seen in this area. It was a dark and rainy night, so I had a bit of trouble finding the location, but once I figured it out (tangled in Gilman Village) I found the decor to be modern-pacific northwest...very pleasant, with a small TV in the bar for sports! The F.I.G.'lets ($9) - bacon wrapped figs stuffed with goat cheese, sounded too interesting to pass up, but the flavor combo didn't really agree with me...perhaps goat cheese + whiskey don't work well with my taste buds? Came in for dinner with my wife. We had a Groupon although they are always on Living Social quite frequently as well. We order2d the Asado Plato Para Dos - For Two grilled half chicken, shrimp, 10oz flat iron steak, chorizo sausage links, chimichurri, salsa criolla, and choice of two sides which we chose garlic fries and brocollonni. Runs $69 but we were hopeful this would be a good representation of several dishes. The chorizo we both enjoyed, my wife who loves shrimp approved of the grilled shrimp. The menu states half a chicken but they must get them from the Squab ranch because this was extremely small. Tasty but small. The steak honestly was dry and not much flavor.... a disappointment considering they tought themselves as a steak place. Surprisingly the sides were great. The French fries had real roasted garlic on hand cut fries not just some diced garlic in butter slathered over frozen fries. The brocollonni also tasty bit at $8 A aside I wouldn't order it on its own. The service was a bit lacking as well for an upscale place. We presented the Groupon as required which you could see the look on out waitress Jeannea turn down a notch or two. We always tip well and based of the value of the meal regardless of any discounts. She stopped off at the adjacent tables asking if everything was ok, however only stopped at our table to clear the dishes and didn't even ask at that. Place wasnt that busy but took some time for food.....which understandably takes more time but we waited 20 minutes to get the bill picked up. The service was good although the kitchen staff delivered without coordinating with the server and seemed rushed and confused. For the price, the entrees were not high quality cuts (salmon 2/10 and NY strip was a 7/10) and this was disappointing because a thin and sad piece of salmon was $38 and not even edible for its fishiness. The salads were great as was the Chilean sea bass. The environment was fine with lots of families and kids but unfortunately not a good value overall. With the background of the owner being El Gaucho, I would hope he would access some of the same suppliers and create a really good experience -- and great food -- for his customers. read more

Came here for a date night ! This place was really cool to walk in too . It had great decorum and a relaxed vibe. We were seated quickly and we had a great server. She was quick and knowledgeable of the menu and beers . We ordered both a flat iron steak since this was our first time here and wanted to play it safe. I asked mine to be rare like really pink and my date had his medium rare . Both had wonderful flavors and were cooked correctly. We ordered a dessert as well which was still delicious and our experience was great . Our server quickly refilled our drinks , we weren't bothered enjoyed our meal. I have to say, I really liked this place on my first try! I ordered the steak tacos and they were very good! It came with a side salad that was also good, but a little too drenched in dressing. Waiter should've asked if I wanted the dressing on the side. Their decor is a bit gloomy though. Everything had a darkness to it. Pics on wall were black and white, adding to the dark decor. Be careful at the bathrooms. If you don't know your movie stars, you could end up in the wrong bathroom. Bogart is for men. Audrey Hepburn for the women. No signage outside their bathroom doors. Mirror in women's bathroom was way too high. Couldn't see ourselves to put on lipstick unless we stood 2.5 feet from the sinks. We shall return! read more

I was looking to set up private event for a celebration of life. After leaving 2 messages over a weeks time with no return call, I called a 3rd time. After explaining I was investigating a space for a celebration of life for my sister, I made it clear I was still researching/ building this event. Valerie asked I secure with $150 deposit, and I said as long as I can change/ cancel. The event rsvp's starting coming in and we outgrew the capacity. See hadn't set a menu or anything else, so I called to cancel and they said they wouldn't refund the deposit. No costs were incurred. It was over 3 weeks away, but they shortly said tough luck. I do not recommend at all. Hard enough dealing with a family member loss, then this type of greed. read more

Flat Iron offers great food and an extensive whiskey library. Most importantly the whiskey is priced reasonably as opposed to the usual ridiculous east side mark up. If you are not interested in whiskey, don't worry because the food could stand on its own. An awesome menu and ever changing specials make this a great choice for lunch or dinner. read more

Since moving here in Nov 2019, I've become a regular. We've never had anything that wasn't crazy delicious! Their mini donuts are BEYOND amazing!! No kidding you must order! Also I am a calamari lover & theres is the best! Don't forget the fondue it's a great way to start out a beautiful dining experience. This is a pretty solid spot for a nice steak dinner. The price is reasonable and the ambiance is very nice. I have dined at this restaurant several times and also had drinks in the bar. The Bar: The bar is a little small and the bar stools are a little tight together, where it is hard to get in and out of your seat when the bar is full. The entire menu is available at the bar, which is nice, but again, it is tight so it's difficult to eat a full meal there--appetizers are much better. I am particularly excited about their whiskey collection!! They have a lot of nice bottles and the bartender is very knowledgeable about choosing a whiskey you will like if you describe what you want to him. I will also say that the bartender's demeanor is excellent and we enjoyed chatting with him. Recommendation: Go to the bar for drinks and appetizers, but in peak hours be prepared to pack in. The Restaurant: The ambiance in the restaurant is nice. The tables are nicely spaced out and even on a busy night, there is room to spread out and it is not too noisy. The food is excellent. For appetizers, I recommend the clams and chorizo, bone marrow, tartare, and/or the figlets! All are good and two would be more than enough to munch on while you wait for your dinner. For dinner, get meat!! The ribeye is thick cut and delicious, the New York is a nice cut, and if you are really looking for something delicious, the tenderloin is excellent although it is the most expensive entree. All come with a lovely glaze that will make you want to lick the plate. I prefer the polenta and brocillini over the fingerling potatoes--it's just better! Oh, and the mushrooms are fantastic; enjoy those with the steak or eat them on their own. If you are not a beef eater, I'd recommend the lamb or the duck. Order the lamb medium rare and it will be one of the better lamb dishes you have had; Russell's in Bothel may be a little better, but only by a hair. The duck is well prepared and juicy. Dessert is a bit lack luster, although if you are going to order something, get the bread pudding. The cheesecake itself is lackluster but the candied pecans really save the dish! I would love to give them five stars, but the one issue I have had in the restaurant is service. Twice, now, I have had a mistake in my order. The latest visit, my father order a ribeye and they brought him a New York. The New York was good, but not what he wanted. I commend the waiter for doing his best to make it right; he bought dessert and a round of drinks to make up for the mistake. I always appreciate it when servers, despite making a mistake, do their best to remedy the situation. One last issue, the steak knives suck!! Nothing drives me more nuts at a steak restaurant than ordering a nice steak and then being given a full serrated knife that tears the meat up. This isn't Applebee's people! Give me a sharp knife that cuts the steak like a hot knife through butter. This is a personal pet peeve, but I think that most people would agree that at a restaurant where you are paying ~$30-70 for a piece of meat, they could give you a decent knife. My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate my Birthday. We ordered the NY strip and the Lamb Chops. The steak was a little over cooked and both the steak and lamb has hard to cut through. We were expecting something a little more at the given price point. On the plus the mashed potatoes and mushrooms were delicious. The atmosphere is very nice but our server was constantly running around and very hard to flag down. She would never make eye contact even though we sat right in the middle of the restaurant and she had to walk by our table to go anywhere. I didn't understand why she was so flustered since it wasn't that busy. Bonus they gave us a free desert since it was by birthday(plus one star, otherwise I might have rated 3 stars) Overall the food was okay, not bad, but not the best either. Flat iron grill is one of my favorite places in Issaquah with a combination of a nice venue, great service, fantastic food, and reasonable prices. I've had dinner a few times and each time the food is spot on delicious new american cuisine with generous portions. I'm no expert on the authenticity of Jambalaya, but either way theirs is flavorful and loaded with seafood and sausage. I'm actually going to say Flat Iron Grill is a fairly good value too - the flat iron steak dinner is a 10oz steak with sides for $24. Brunch is fantastic, the pork hash is my favorite brunch dish at any of the Issaquah brunch places. Brunch service can run a bit slow however, but hey its brunch, have another coffee and drink. Wine selection is pretty good and reasonably unreasonable (all restaurants grossly overcharge for wine, Flat Iron no more or less). The Mrs' cocktail from dinner the other night was fantastic - bubbly and tart, not sickly sweet like so many drinks. So on the whole, a lot to love. read more

My sister and I came here because we got a Groupon. It was surprisingly good. Came by for brunch and there was only one other family that was there. The place was clean and rustic. After looking at the menu, we decided to go for sandwiches instead of the breakfast options, I actually wanted to try their biscuits but thought it was worth it to get the sandwich instead. We got the fig burger and the chorizo pan sandwich and both came with fries. Both sandwiches were big and the fries were generous. The fig burger with an added egg was juicy and flavorful. The only critique was the bread was a little soggy. Also, the egg really didn't add anything to the burger, I could easily ate burger without the egg. The chorizo sandwich was very flavorful and good as well. I preferred the bread on this one more. The fries, although not as crunchy, was very good. The service was also great. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Overall, I had a good time here and would definitely come back to try other food. read more
