My fiancé and I were excited to try this place. We ordered the pretzel appetizer and even though it had random fries in the cheese, It was still a delicious appetizer but we waited a long time to receive it. After the appetizer we waited and waited for our meals, and nothing. My fiancé noticed a waiter going past us and made eye contact with him and smiled thinking that they were ours, but the guy kept walking and gave it to another table. We continue to wait and after 20 more minutes were told that our food was given to the wrong table. Why didn't they notice this as soon as it happened? Were they trying to hide it? They weren't even very busy so we were confused? We were left so hungry and annoyed that we paid and left. We shouldn't have even been charged for wasting our time and my fiancé was kind enough to leave a tip which we regretted later because of the poor service. As much as we loved the appetizer and had high hopes for this place, we will not be returning. Our date night was ruined and because it was so late had to resort to fast food. read more

I saw this place mentioned on Facebook as a good place to get a good ribeye steak, so I thought we would try it out for my son's birthday dinner. It being a Friday night, I called to see if they took reservations, which they did. It was a good thing I did, as they were pretty busy when we got there, most of the tables were already taken (6pm), and by the time we left, there was a line of people waiting at the door. As mentioned above, indoor, outdoor, and bar seating is available, casual ambiance. One downside, the place is really loud, hard to talk with others at the table. Service was excellent, even as busy as they were. Kyra was very attentive, helpful, checked on us regularly. Drinks came out quickly (wine for my wife, a "tropical mule" for me, soft drink for my son), appetizer (Bang bang shrimp) also came quickly, just as we were getting our dinner orders in. Since the steaks were recommended, I had to try the ribeye, my wife and son both had the pub steak, but the menu has a lot of other options, which I'm going to have to go back and try out. Food came out pretty quickly for how busy it was, and the steaks were excellent. Well cooked, seasoned, good sear on the outside, but the center was still medium rare, as requested. The menu says cooked with garlic rosemary compound butter, and it had great flavor. The sides were also decent, but the steak was the star. A little on the expensive side for a casual restaurant, though we did have 3 steaks, so probably to be expected. Definitely a keeper, we'll be back. read more

This was our 3's checks, looked like. And to be waiting an hour & 10 minutes to be seat; 15 minutes to get our first round of drinks, then almost an hour for our food. When asked to speak to the manager & he asked if we had ever worked in the restaurant business (what a slap in the face). For the owner to reserve 2 tables so he and his friends had a place to sit. Sitting empty (at least 2 four tops) the entire time you have what would be PAYING customers wait for tables. Told originally that there was a 30 to 45 minute wait. Went inside after about 30 minutes and had to stand there and wait. I had to go up to the hostesses stand twice to see what was going on. Seating others that came in behind us (and under us on the wait list) because there was only 4 people in their party. They really need to learn customer service and how to treat people. The waitress was good & has no fault in any of this, they even asked who was here for the 1st time & I told them some of us were. But that seemed to make no difference. Personally what they did give us as a discount for the way we were treated was an even Bigger slap in the face. I would not recommend it to anyone either. read more

Food was very good and service was fine. The walleye was a popular choice and excellent. The pizza was excellent and the brochettes I would definitely order again 2 down points... the acoustics were terrible we were a table of four and couldn't hear half of the conversation (we sat along the wall). And the temperature was about 8 degrees too cold and we keep our home at 70 degrees in the summer. I will try to go back again but not with another couple that I want to chat with and will definitely bring a jacket. Unfortunately I understand these are two techniques restaurants use to turn tables and I don't appreciate it. read more

Everyone is so nice at 3:30 pm on this Tuesday afternoon, however the food was bad . I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and got grilled chicken, the fries were soggy, the bartender said she would replace them,no you only have one chance to make a first impression. In a word, SAD. The waitress got our drinks somewhat quickly and took care to take our order properly, However, Who Knows what was going on in the kitchen. We'd finished our first round and were halfway through a second by the time the food arrived. And it was lukewarm. And incomplete. And when the side of sweet potato fries showed up, it was burnt. The sauce on the boneless wings, the night's special, looked positively plasticene, as the boneless wings were perhaps 100 degrees or less. My husband's burger was juiceless, joyless and hopelessly overdone. We desperately wanted there to be a good food joint in our town. Alas and alack, after a dozen years, we've given up on that idea. read more

Had a great lunch here recently. Sat at the bar and the service was perfect. Excellent addition to an area that needs more good restaurants. I had the Chicago Italian beef sandwich. Large portion, nice spicy gardiniera, good bread and tasty au jus. I'll have it again! My wife had a creamy broccoli soup that we both thought was very good, along with a Caesar salad that she liked a lot, but could not finish because it was huge. Let me start off by saying that my first and only experience with this place was during a "private concert event". Included with your ticket is a free drink, a buffet dinner and live music. Sounds great, right? Not so fast. Despite our party of 6 spending $300 to get in, we were not guaranteed a table to eat. You are supposed to eat your buffet dinner in your lap in a chair or standing up if you aren't lucky enough to grab one of the few booths and tables available. Thankfully, after a very unnecessary battle with the rude GM, we were able to scrounge together a table to eat our dinner. You'd think for the money, the dinner would be decent. Lower your expectations again. Pizza, wings, nachos, and cookies were the vibe. The pulled pork was actually tasty, that was about the most exciting thing. It gets better. We were told that the admission came with a free drink. Heck, they even give you a little blue ticket to prove it. We were told it doesn't work on cocktails, beer and wine only. I order an oberon and my boyfriend orders a captain and diet because he doesn't like beer or wine. I decide to order 2 beers to use up his free drink ticket. They give him a bill for his cocktails and we leave the free drink tickets on the table for my beers. We head out to the truck to leave, after leaving cash on the table for the drinks plus a tip and we are then chased out by our waitress who proceeds to tell us that the beer I ordered was not on the list of beers that is included with the "free drink" ticket. This place is a JOKE. I will not be back. I never leave bad reviews because I am just not that person but THIS PLACE SUCKS! read more

The owner walked in and gave preferential treatment for a family of 9 in front of other parties that were waiting. And then when playing music on the juke box that is available for customers to pay money to play music, owner yelled across bar to skip the song....... Pretty rude for families that are trying to enjoy dinner and music. No problem, my money will go elsewhere! Too bad the experience outweighed the good food, there's plenty of other places with good food and good owners. read more

We really enjoyed our food and the service we received. When our food came out it was actually hot and stayed hot so you could enjoy the entire meal and not have it go cold in the middle of our meal. It's a new restaurant in town and the parking lot has been packed since the day it opened, so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try. We got there right when they opened and had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, so in the meantime I pulled up the menu and decided on what to have. We were seated and ordered the chicken nachos to start. They were pretty good. Then we ordered dinner. I decided on the shrimp tacos, but our waiter told me they were out of them and two other things on the menu. I was disappointed because they should have told us what they were out of when we were seated. So as a second choice I got the "all of it" pizza. My boyfriend ordered the pub steak. When I ordered the pizza I figured it would just have all the toppings kind of like a kitchen sink. The pizza had pepperoni, sausage, tomatoes and green olives. I don't know what kind of place doesn't have mushrooms on their pizza or black olives. The green olives over powered the taste of the pizza altogether. His steak was alright but nothing spectacular. I asked for a Togo box and a dessert to go. "Chocolate cake with ice cream" for $8. The waiter brought the box and the check and said the dessert would be out soon. I paid & left a pretty good tip. He then brought out the piece of chocolate cake. I asked where the ice cream was and he said they were out. About an hour after we got home I decided to try the cake and it definitely needed the ice cream because it was the most dry piece of cake I've ever had in my life. I don't know if it's just because they're super busy or the actual quality of the restaurant. Either way they need to make improvements. Servers should let customers know what isn't available when they are seated, mushrooms need to be added to the pizza menu and maybe less green olives, and they need to step it up on the cake. For an appetizer, a medium thin crust pizza, a pub steak and my cake to go the bill was $76. We won't be going back for awhile. read more

My first time at the restaurant was terrible. We had a party of ten and it started out okay with Megan, our server. My five very bluegill filets were very small. The fish were all burned. The edges were black. I should have sent it back ..but not wanting to complain .I left it go. At $26, I doubt you can find worse deal in Michiana for a fish basket.. My wife had the $35 ribeye that actually cost more than menu price. It was raw, sent back...still came back rare...she ate 1/3 of it. My niece had the sliders..were crispy...torn up so meat didnt cover bun. Totally dried up and burned. Sadly it didn't stop there. My brother's chicken wrap was cold and two other meals were cold. We arrived at 6:30 and left at 8:50. No desserts...kitchen didn't get food out till over an hour...no explanation. Six out of 10 meals had issues...again manager was nowhere to be seen. Be forewarned, this place is awful. read more

Located on The Burg, it has a hit or miss on the service. I've been there three times now and each time the services gets a little better. The food is...ok. i've tried the smash burger and it literally fell apart and I had to eat the patties with a fork and knife. Greasy and the fries were cold. Then I tried the Caesar salad with the blackened tuna and that was pretty good. I would say go lighter on the dressing and don't include the rind core of the Romaine when serving. I tried the fish sandwich and it came with American cheese on top. Not a fan of that, but the fish itself had a very light coating and wasn't bad. The fries were ok. My husband had a club and it took forever to come out, and when it did it was heavy on turkey and scant in bacon and loaded with lettuce. Last thing to mention is some one in our party got the sliders. I have never seen such a small piece of burger between two tiny buns before...this they need to perfect because even at $7...there was not enough meat to justify that price. It is very loud in the restaurant and I am sure it's better on the patio but we did not eat out there. I hope they keep improving and making their food better. read more

Staff is awful. Manager she was very young and rude. Half of our food order came and then the other half was another 25 minutes later. Don't know if that was due to the server or the kitchen staff. But I asked for boxes because half have already ate their food and the server got the manager. The manager tried to make excuses instead of honesty and apologizing. Also, our card was charged more than our bill and tip included. And when you call they don't return your call. Crooks there. Sad for the area. read more

6th Star goes here. Can't say enough about Flat Rock. Reviews are subjective. But I'm a fatfuhk. So I know good food. I've been here twice. Tried it based on a suggestion. But I've only gotten the Walleye sandwich. It's so juicy and tender. Lightly breaded with a slice of cheese. Lettuce and tomato. Simple but so damn good I'm taking the time to make sure you know about it. My pets haven't eaten yet because I'm yelping about a fish sandwich. They'll live. Eat this walleye sandwich. Eat it. Afterwards just look pensively to the west and wonder what I'm doing. It's ok to cry a little. You're welcome. read more
