So have a look. Reviewed this place way back in 2008 (that's five years ago... don't you feel old now?) and gave it four stars. It had changed owners, and the improvement was massive. But it started to slide... if I had reviewed it a year ago, I'd have given it three. And that was being kind. But now it's got new owners. Again. But this time, they've changed the game. All new interior. Old scoreboard, butcher paper on the wall, reclaimed gym floor. All a bit hipster-ish, but okay. Beer list. Hot damn, they've upped the game. Aroma Coma on tap? Oh HELL yes. Food? Upgrade! Outstanding burgers. I genuinely can't tell you about anything else, because every time I've been here, I've burgered it up. Oh wait, wifey had a chicken sandwich - that was damn good too! Service is also top notch. Bar staff get your order taken quick, although the way the taps are laid out is a bit confusing (even for the staff!). The real test was when a dozen of us showed up in costume, a few days after Halloween (what can we say...) on a Friday night, and our waiter was subjected to our shennanigans. And did a bloody good job. Don't think anyone got to an empty glass before they were asked if they needed another. Five stars is a lot - I'd actually give it 4.5, but for the sheer effort of the new lads, it's worth the rounding up. Local spot to grab a bite to eat and a beer. The bar itself is hip but laid back with plenty of room for big groups but okay enough for a couple. The menu is a really great mix of American, mexican and other randoms. We ordered from the happy hour menu and had pork quesadillas and the lil chili cheese fries. They were both very tasty but the quesadillas were our favorite. They had a unique/unexpected taste. Our beers were great and I'd highly recommend sticking to the draught list. This isn't a place to order a lemon drop but I'm sure the whiskey cocktails would be tasty. Food at the Flatiron is fine. It's beer food; fatty, fried and salty. The Thai Chili Wings, Sliders, and Sweet Potato Fries are the better picks. The happy hour drinks are cheap and cold. If I could give a negative start- I would. I was at flatiron Thursday night and was grossed out. I sat at the bar with my friends. We ordered drinks and food. As we were enjoying our nachos, a huge cockroach crawled from under our plate. We let the bartender know and her response was: oh they usually come out in the spring. She didn't seem bother at all. So I used to be kinda regular around here before the pandemic and it used to have amazing drinks and a friendly staff. Last night my boyfriend and I went to have a drink after dinner. The door guy was nice, but the bartender was exceedingly abrupt, borderline rude with us. She proceeded to make us two of the worst cocktails I've ever tasted, a whiskey sour with only about 1/4 oz of whiskey in it, and triple sec added, and a margarita so salty i thought I was a cow in a pasture with a vaguely lime flavored salt lick. When I tried to get her attention she ignored us entirely, and when I asked her to remake our drinks she vagiely waved towards the door. Flatiron is a great American sports bar with tasty food! This place is super casual and usually pretty packed. When there are games, sometimes people have to stand so you know this place is good. They offer pretty good deals throughout the week. My favorite is their Taco Wednesday where there tacos are two dollars each, five dollars margaritas, and $4 tall Modelos. They also have a happy hour that also runs on the weekend. If you're looking to stay awhile and watch a game this place is perfect. However, if you're in a rush, they usually only have a couple servers for the entire place so the service isn't too fast. read more

I'm a big fan of this local sports bar/restaurant. The waiters all seem very nice, the food is pretty darn good for a sports bar, and on slower nights with no local teams playing you can ask them to put on almost any game you'd want to see. Plus the beer selection is pretty impressive. And finally, you will definitely get a kick out of the marquee board by the front door. read more

I've been to Flatiron twice now, and both times the food was okay. I do like the ambience, it's a cool place to get a beer or shot, watch a game and hang out but the food could be a little more flavorful. The first time I went I got the black wood chicken sandwich and it was a bit dry. It could use more sauce or dressing. The second time I got the shrimp tacos. I wished it had more zest or spice but I feel like I was eating just a tortilla. On top of that my server Katie asked me if I wanted avocado with it, and of course I said yes because who doesn't love avocado? When I looked at my receipt, I wished she told me how much extra it was for how little avocado I got..... Also the chicharrones appetizer is good too, it's a nice size to share but could use more salt. Long story short, this place is good for drinks and some appetizers. read more

Everything we had here was great- except the nachos. I love how they do their veggies- perfectly cooked and fresh with delicious seasonings. My husband's French dip was also pretty good. My nachos however, were super gross. They clearly used jarred "cheese" and the chicken they topped it with was cut into weird little lukewarm cubes that tasted like they had been sitting around a little too long. Other than that our experience was great. The food came quickly and our server was attentive. My ginger beer was a good one and my husband liked his Martini. Always smiling, quick with orders, whip up an excellent drinks or crack open the beer and have it in my hand before I can think twice about it. Plenty of seating. TVs everywhere. For appetizers, we ordered grilled broccolini and cauliflower; and the pork buns, both of which were good (and the right price). She ordered a burger, which she really liked but came really rare. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap, which had an nice kick to it. It was a leisurely meal with some quality people watching. The drink menu was fine but not as substantial as I had expected. We had seen the restaurant on an episode of Check, Please. I would have loved this place in my twenties when I used to meet up with people to watch live sports, or if I went there with an intramural team. As is, it's not a must-go-again, but it's local, and we'll probably revisit at some point. read more

Solid dining experience today at the flatiron. Really liked the ambience of this place. Got a nice seat by the window with a nice cool summer breeze rolling through. The appetizers section looked incredible and I was tempted to get 5 apps. But I decided to try the chicharrones and the lemon pepper wings. Chicharrones came out still crackling but I wish it was still hot. But they were airy and crispy and tasty. Not the best I've had but pretty good. Lemon pepper wings were really good. Nice and crispy but not greasy. I'd definitely get these again. And the side of ranch tasted more complex than your usual bottled stuff. So it's either house made or a pretty good brand. Overall, I was quite pleased with my meal. I wouldn't necessarily hike out here just for a meal but I'd definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. read more

Bartender was nice but would not let me order from the bar as we were sitting at a table. This place is a complete gem. Friendly staff, great drinks, and amazing food. I used to live literally one block from this place, and never bothered to walk inside. Unfortunately, I live about 40 miles away, but it's close enough to my work that my coworkers and I make a special trip nearly every Saturday after work to stop here.
