We absolutely love Pond Farm! This is such a staple in downtown San Rafael. They have great beer, host live music, and community events! The staff is always friendly and helpful!

I came here after a day spent at Muir Beach and were so happy to find a local brewery in San Rafael. I enjoyed a glass of the summer ale, which was light, crisp, and very refreshing. The hazy IPA was also a hit for us! We had our dog so we could not sit inside, but they have a nice sized patio for your dogs to hang out with you out there! The servers were incredibly kind and also brought our pup a little treat. To eat, we shared a soft pretzel that came with beer cheese and mustard, a pepperoni pizza, and the burrata salad. The beer cheese was a little too runny for my preference, but otherwise a nice snack. The pizza was a personal size so you could easily order it and eat it alone for a meal. The burrata salad was my favorite! It had fresh cherries, crushed pistachios, radish, and arugula, with a balsamic and olive oil drizzle over the top. It could've benefited from some flaky sea salt and maybe some honey, but it was otherwise so good! Also, the burrata only comes with three crostinis, but employees let us know that if we wanted more to just ask. They are just trying to reduce waste which I also appreciate! Overall, this is a great addition to San Rafael and I'm looking forward to returning!

We went on a hike not too far from here and stopped for food and a beer on the way back. You come in, order at the counter, sit with a number and they bring you your food. I later realized you can order via QR code at the table as well. Very spacious and chill inside. Also outdoor seating if you want some fresh air. It made me really happy to see NA beers on the menu!! Not 1, not 2 but 3 different ones! And guess what I tried them all. Really reasonable price and a range of a porter, kolsch, and IPA. Food wise, the half roasted chicken hit the spot! It was roasted to perfection. And love the bed of veggies too. As for the Cilantro Lime salad, it could be better. The combo was just mid.. and the tiny pieces of lettuce was annoying to catch on the fork. There was also live music. It was classy. Mature crowd, no rowdy bar people. Loved it.

I'm a regular at Pond Farm: I go and hang out at the bar and meet new people, I meet friends there and sometimes I take my kids for dinner on a hot day (they have amazing air conditioning!). I'm also a member of Stein Society so I also go to the monthly beer tasting. I wish I could go to the trivia night on Mondays more. The taproom is spacious and has great natural light. There are enough seating options to allow for groups of different sizes to meet and mix. The yard on the side is really nice when the weather is good and has nice chase on a hot day, too. The beer selection is WIDE. They have a few always-on Lagers and IPAs, and then switch out different IPAs, dark lagers, weird spicy things, sours, etc. The food is good and they've done a great job of trying things out as specials and moving them to the main menu when they're popular (hello tacos and pulled pork sandwich). The staff are fantastic--helpful, friendly and fun--and I'm happy to call some of them friends now! They host weekly trivia and music, Oktoberfest annually and local craft fairs several times a year. I grew up in the UK and for 15 years in California I've been searching for somewhere you can walk into and have it feel like home. This is the closest place to a pub I've found in terms of community and I love it most for that.

We are regulars here and enjoy coming here for a casual beer and also their special events. We liked their beer and donut pairing event with Johnny's Donuts, barrel Aged beer flights for SF Beer Week, and tasty German food & beers for Oktoberfest over the years. Nice to support a small local husband & wife-owned business... First heard of them through a friend whose son went to high school in Marin with the owner!

Good beer with decent selection. Nice food choices, recommend the pulled pork. For some strange reason. I don't see french fries on the menu. That's curious. Spacious comfortable. Three large screen TVs if you're into that stuff. Friendly staff. And did I mention tasty IPAs? I first visit here, but maybe not our last four in the area

Came by here with some friends to see what they offer beer wise and some small snack before heading out to our next spot Sampled the dark matter beer lager it was not hoppy more like a very watered down version of Guinness I also sampled the Brat with saurcaut the bun was pretzel in taste and in texture, the brat size was minimal more bread then meat, the craut was evenly matched to the meat with mustard sauce poured all over the top, if your looking for a snack this is perfect size Good spot for any size group seating outside can easily sit 5 or 6 on smaller tables, inside there are several long wide tables for larger groups, inside front they do have bench seating for single patrons or very small groups Spot is very open and spacious, decently priced drinks and food, decent spot to stop by again for a snack Food *** Drinks *** Price $$ Service **** Ambiance ****

This place has such a cute atmosphere! There is an inside area with tables and an outside area with twinkle lights. I also love their drink options: they have cider and wine on top of beer. I always appreciate breweries who have offerings other than beer. The service is fast and efficient as you order/pay at the counter before you find seating. The only con is parking on the street can sometimes be tough. This is definitely one of my favorite spots in Marin!

One Belgian ale to rule them all.

I love checking out local craft beers whenever I'm traveling hither and thither.Pond Farm Brewing has been one of my favorites in Northern California. The bartender that day was approachable and friendly - handing out recommendations and samples alike. We had a crostini and onion dip and a giant pretzel that made the grade, too. They had a pretty nice Indoor and outdoor Sunday vibe going on. Lively. Fun. I had a hazy IPA, a dark lager, and a Belgian ale that, I swear, would make all other Belgian ales jealous. And I took a (reasonably-priced) four pack home with me. I'll definitely stop by here again when I'm in the area. I recommend you do too.

    Cheers!

Do you offer any gluten free options - seltzers or hard sodas?

We do! We have ciders and wines, plenty of soft drinks, and all of our beer is gluten-reduced.

Are the bathrooms gender neutral or male/female? Getting mixed info from here lol family has stomach issues and knowing this is helpful. Ty!

Hi Sam, the main bathrooms in the taproom are male/female but by each door there is a sign pointing towards the gender neutral single bathroom. This bathroom is left of the bar, up the first few stairs. Sure thing!

What other drinks are served here? Wine, kombucha or anything else for those that don't drink.

This is way overdue, but we've been serving wine & cider for several years now. We also offer non-alcoholic beer and wine options as well as a range of other non-alcoholic beverages like sparkling waters (plain and flavored), kombucha, apple juice,…

I honestly didn't realize how much I'd enjoy playing pinball until coming here--there aren't many spots that have that kind of unique feature anymore, and it really added to the experience. I went for a Yelp Elite event, and it was great. The owner was there and super welcoming, and his staff were genuinely nice and attentive. We were given bracelets that gave us access to two drinks, which was a fun self-pour experience. That said, it would've been helpful to get a quick tip on pouring (like tilting your glass) beforehand--foam can sneak up on you fast , especially with so many people around. Because it was busy, we were also given a card that allowed unlimited access to the games, which was awesome and made the night even better. I definitely enjoyed my time here. The owner also mentioned that you can rent individual tables or even the whole venue for events, which is something I'd absolutely consider in the future. I'll definitely be back.

This location in greater San Rafael is a bit out of my way, but a recent trip to Marin was an opportunity to make up for the lost. Located in a business center, parking here is not an issue and they were not particularly busy on a Sunday night. We were seated immediately, noticing how clean and modern the two-story gastropub looks. The food menu is more or less pub food, executed well. Mango-habanero wings were crispy and came with two dipping sauces, both delicious. We also tired the pretzel, which is on a smaller size, so next time I'll take our server's suggestion and order two. It also came with mustard and cheese for dipping. All their burgers are more or less a la carte: no fries, but chips and house pickle on the side. The burgers were fine though, with smash being smaller, but a bit tastier than their signature Monk's burger. Simplicity is sometimes the best. The beer list is expertly curated with focus on other styles besides IPA, but I assume that Russian River's Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig are always on the menu, in addition to ultra-local options. For pub fare, Monk's Kettle is a bit pricy, which is not totally unexpected in today's economy-especially knowing the area. However, elevated food, drinks, and service quality usually comes with the elevated price tag. We might not be back next time in Marin, but this was surely not the last visit to Monk's.
