My husband and I have been going to Golden Griddle for over 15 years. It's a nice place to go for brunch before running weekend errands, which is generally when we go; right before shopping at the nearby Target or Sam's Club. As soon as you arrive, the waitresses offer coffee, water, or juice. It's a pretty big menu, but generally I get the omelette or skillet with a side of pancakes or a Belgian waffle. I wish I could make my waffles at home as good as the restaurants. :-) The ambiance is a mix crowd of locals, mostly from Evergreen Park, Oak Lawn, or Chicago. The owner is usually on site, and seems to generally watch over everything and says hello. The portion sizes are big, so be ready take some home and have a nice breakfast the next day!

It's a dive and a decent amount of food for the price. Laid back atmosphere and the people who work here are really nice.

My sisters & I walked early this morn and decided on this spot since it was close to the trail . Ample parking, a nicely paved lot. Decent exterior. Upon entering it is a tad dated. A nice female host greeted us with mask on plus an older guy; assuming owner. We sat at a booth which was clean. The server was nice, friendly but slow taking order. I only saw 3 servers for a sizable crowd. I was in no rush so I didn't complain. Coffee was tasty. I ordered a veggie egg white omelette w/turkey sausage & Swiss cheese, potatoes & pancakes. It was good, tasty. Unless u haven't eaten in days u will take leftovers home, which we did. Prices are reasonable. Restroom was clean & supplies in stock. My cons are dated interior, some vents need cleaning or replacing, & server was a tad slow. Otherwise stop by & enjoy.

I have never been to this restaurant and was in the city visiting and found this hidden but right out front gem.. I actually know one the owners and was so super happy to see her after over at least 10 years. It's on 95th street east of Kedzie in Evergreen Park. There is free parking in the lot and in front. The food was good.. I didn't really care for the taste of the syrup but my date said it was good to him. I had pancakes, eggs over medium and grits. He had a strawberry waffle which was really good, grits and eggs fried hard. He said that coffee was really good and fresh, didn't have the burnt taste. He had about 6 small cups with Irish Crème Creamer. I did taste it and it was actually good.. The Irish Crème creamer was like toffee to me. Our waitress was funny and very hospitable. They had a lot of customers sitting in and taking out. Also I could tell they have regulars. They had a group in the back celebrating a birthday. It's not modern but they provided cleanliness, even in the restroom, quality food and excellent service!! ENJOY!

Next, no one came to explain the process of having to scan the QR code to get the menu; luckily my friend had been there before so she knew the process. The waitress was nice. however, I requested peach tea and was brought a hot cup of tea when I explained that I wanted it cold and was told they didn't have it, I then preferred lemonade I never got my drink. Now as you can see from the picture everything on my plate looks dry and tasted the same. The turkey sausage looked like it was Johnsonville that had been sitting out for a while. The eggs were dry and had no taste when I added the pepper, which was in a sugar shaker, it caused me to put too much pepper on the eggs believe it or not they still didn't have enough flavor. The salmon croquettes were dry as well and weren't seasoned. When our waitress returned, after we were done with our meal, to ask us if everything was OK I didn't even respond because I didn't want to be a liar. I'll never go back. I don't know if it was the day and time we were there on a Thursday around 12 o'clock or so, but I honestly felt as if we were intruding by being there. I didn't feel welcomed at all. The ambience was not great. I felt more like I was in a cafeteria with fancy seats. A definite...will not return! The two stars was for the company I was with only!!!!

We came in and waited to be greeted by the hostess. Maybe 10 minutes passed and 2-3 other groups also came in before we saw the hostess and she had the sourest attitude I've seen that wasn't a snotty teenager arguing with their mom. The tables were so close together and booths tight that multiple groups had to adjust chairs or add chairs to a booth to be able to fit their group of 4 comfortably. Tables were left dirty & covered with dishes - two tables we're left uncleared for the entire 2+ hours we were there until the hostess with the horrific attitude cleared one glass at a time with a truly horrible look on her face. At one point when the hostess was walking back to the front from the kitchen, a young child (maybe 3-4) was politely walking to her table and the hostess said something to the effect of "get out of my way" - to a toddler, behaving perfectly reasonably and the hostess wasn't even carrying anything that might topple over. Our waitress was not much better than the hostess. While she was mostly pleasant, after 45 minutes we had to flag her down to ask where our appetizer was and she apologized before bringing it out 10 minutes or so later. It wasn't so busy that the kitchen was behind - I think she just forgot to put the order in or the kitchen forgot to fire it. We had placed our dinner order at the same time, and that came out shortly after the appetizer for 3 of the 4 of us. The 4th member of the party had to wait 10 minutes or so for her chicken wrap to come out. Flagging down our waitress for the check was also a challenge. She would disappear for long stretches of time. Service was truly appalling and we were there for over 2.5 hours for what we had expected would be a quick and delicious dinner. I won't go back.

I also ordered a broccoli cheddar skillet with avocado and let me tell you I've never had any skillet that had broccoli with seasoning it had a hint of garlic not just grilled and thrown in there that flavor was incredible you don't get that at other restaurants... And then of course my favorite thing waffles I don't know what this man does to the waffles but it was crispy on the outside and kind of lacy inside my kind of waffle not a waffle that you cut into and it looks like a pound cake I can't figure out how he makes it or whatever he does that's how a waffle should be.. He uses fresh potatoes.. and fresh hash browns although ..I was charged which believe me I get I a pecan waffle with pecan inside and out I think I was charged $5 extra but you know what pecans are expensive and boy there was a lot on there I would chop them up though..... Was very clean the windows were clean that's my pet peeve when you walk into a restaurant and you have dirty windows the coffee pots were shiny they take pride the cleanliness of the restaurant my server was excellent very informative I did ask about the owner cuz I was just truly impressed usually when food is made to perfection the most part and this industry it's always not a Greek Hispanic they learn and watch and intact.. I don't know if he had had experience before but whatever he had whatever he knew..he is definitely gifted.... Bialy's Café -- Real Breakfast, Real Prices, No Market Price Nonsense…read more After getting finessed at Maple & Jams -- where a skirt steak somehow ran $39.99 (and came out well-done when we asked for medium rare) -- I walked into Bialy's with my guard up, half-expecting another brunch scam. But Bialy's? Straight up restored my faith in breakfast. My girlfriend ordered the skirt steak again -- and this time, it came out exactly how she wanted: medium rare, flavorful, and worth every cent. Price? $19.95. No market price tricks. No guessing games. Just real food with a real price tag. I went with the Denver omelet and a side of sausage links, and let me tell you -- that omelet was fluffy, packed, and hit the spot. The sausage was solid, and we even squeezed in an order of French toast to share. Light, crisp edges, just the right amount of sweetness. You could tell everything was made with care. The crowd was diverse, the energy was positive, and the waitresses were friendly and on top of it. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there -- staff and customers alike. Bottom line: I came in feeling finessed from my last overpriced breakfast. But I left full, happy, and reassured that some spots still put people over profit. No market pricing games. No sticker shock. Just good food, fair prices, and people who clearly give a damn.

Once my sister arrived and turned her mug over, we found lipstick marks on the outside of a supposedly clean mug... okay, no problem. The waitress was appalled and brought another mug. She took our orders. I got a patty melt on rye with mushrooms added, with fries. My sister got the garden skillet with pancakes. It took a while for everything to come. While waiting, I got a cup of cream of chicken & rice soup (too watery and too much lemon), only to have a long hair caught between the bowl and saucer... yes, that went back too. Finally, our food arrived lukewarm. My sister's butter wouldn't melt on her pancakes, so we had to send that back as well. By this point, we just nibbled and chatted. It may be the original location, or that honor may go to the yet unvisited-by-me third location closer to the Loop, but in any case, this Huck Finn definitely feels different from the one I'm used to. The lighting fixtures, booths, and art all have the same tacky early-2000s feel as the other location, but that's where the similarities end. This one is much smaller, although its dessert-case area has its own tables, and the outside of the building advertises ice cream. This Huck Finn feels like a coffee shop, which is probably why my dad says he likes it more than the "original"--original to us, at least. It has a counter, and while the building looks large from outside, it has about half the seating of Oak Lawn. There's a funky mirror near the bathrooms that makes it look like there's a back dining room--or possibly a Den of Iniquities like the original--but it's all an optical illusion. Service is quick and efficient, as it is at Oak Lawn. Our server, though, was a familiar no-nonsense throwback to an earlier time. Oak Lawn has some of those, but most of its servers are younger women with the thickest Chicago/Great Lakes accents you'll ever hear. (Seriously, although they're all under thirty-five, they sound like they're about to start collecting Social Security.) She was short on small talk, but she made up for it with sass and a whole lot of hard work. The food is good, although the menu is more limited than Oak Lawn's. One thing I don't like is that the menus are flimsy printouts. Oak Lawn at least has laminated pages, although I miss the old multi-page booklet-style menus. Oh well. They have Texas and Alaska donuts here, so it's a legit Huck Finn. It's physically possible to make a left turn onto Pulaski from their parking lot, but I think it's illegal, as you'd have to cross a quadruple yellow line.
