This was my first time visiting Flint by Baltaire, and it was an interesting experience. The restaurant offers complimentary valet parking. The hosts were absolutely fantastic when I arrived. I asked if they had any seats available upstairs and they told me its opened seating. When I walked upstairs, the servers mentioned that only 3 heaters working, so we decided to be seated indoors. Our waitress walked by our table a few times before she actually greeted us. For a Friday night, the restaurant wasn't packed. I was shocked at how long it took for them to greet and grab us waters. The food came out pretty fast, but the service was delayed. One of the food runners kept bring us the wrong entrees - It was a little strange. Let's get into some spotlights: The "frontier psychiatrist" cocktail was incredible. I loved the apple bourbon notes, and would enjoy sipping this on a chilly winter night. The short rib hummus was delicious, and the pita bread was baked to perfection. We also enjoyed our margherita pizza! The fried chicken small plate was also a tasty selection. Some room for improvement would be the lamb chops. They lacked a little flavor and were not cooked medium well. For the price, I expected a lot more. The service also needs a little love. Overall, great ambiance and very classy restaurant. But prices are pretty high and do not do justice especially at lunch time. The Oysters tasted fine. Branzino was just half and they should at least give a full fish for the price they are charging. No sides were served with the fish except for chimichurri and lemon. Pizza was ok and pretty standard. Wine selection was good. They need to definitely not charge so much for small portion sizes and ought to offer specials so that more people can try this place. read more

What a fantastic experience! JP our waiter could not have been more fantastic! Very attentive, informative, and super fun! We were celebrating our daughters 22 nd birthday and boy did they make her feel special, starting with a champagne toast! We started with oysters, octopus-and the hummus appetizers. All fabulous. Traveling to Phoenix on business and this spot was recommended by someone at the front desk at the hotel I was staying at. It's in walking distance to a small hub of businesses and near a mall in downtown Phoenix. A great place to come with a group or for a date night as most tables are staged for large parties, but there is a bar and ample seating on a slow night for solo diners like me. I had the spicy short rib humus, little gem caesar salad and spicy lamb meatballs. The short rib humus and spicy lamb meatballs exceeded expectations! They were so good. I would come back again for these two items alone. My server Luis was extremely accommodating and brought me a side of cucumbers to go with the humus and it was perfect. It comes with a beautifully pillowy flatbread, but with the meat the addition of the flatbread was a bit heavy for me. The lamb meatballs were exceptional! Perfectly seasoned and just the right cook, moist and delicious. The tomato sauce and cumin yogurt were *chef's kiss*. I enjoyed the grapefruit and chill it was refreshing and paired perfectly with my meal and I had the espresso martini from my dessert/ night cap (perfect foam and not overly sweet). Next time I'm back in Phoenix I'll definitely be dining here. Perhaps there will be cooler temps and I'll have the opportunity to enjoy the roof top bar. Everything went well, as always at Flint! The food, EVERY dish was delisc. Very Mediterranean from the spices, the freshness to the comfort of eating the dishes. We had a few shareable plates: the Moroccan chicken, pasta with a lamb ragu, the octopus and we had the short rib hummus. YASSSSSS. Flint is my go to if I want a good meal, beautiful decor and a wonderful atmosphere. You don't have to be dressed to the 9s, but it's casual chic. You can wear your J's, too! The service, always on point! Our waiter seemed like he was only there for us. (He wasn't, but he made you feel that way.) He gave his recommendations--- Love that! And, he was right! We each had the grapefruit and chill drink. And to end our dinner, we had the crumble pound cake. Just DELICOUS! So we made a rookie mistake at first and came in the back and didn't realize they had valet. The area is under construction so we got slightly lost by the fences but once we got to the front, the friendly hostess welcomed us and let us know for next time they offer complimentary valet in the front. We were briefly greeted by our server Eric who was super friendly and gave us some good recommendations. The ambiance was darker and surprisingly loud for not crowded but it was a welcoming atmosphere . They have a large drink menu but we decided to opt out of alcohol this night. We started with the short rib hummus and it was definitely delicious. We ended up ordering some veggies on the side to dip in it also. It was good but nothing to die for. We also started with some oysters and those were super meaty and clean. Would definitely have gotten these again. Then followed the spicy lamb meatballs and the filet mignon. The spicy lamb meatballs were delicious! Not to strong of a lamb flavor but I love lamb so I may be biased. The bread it came with was really good also, my partner thought one of her pieces was a little too burnt for her but it had great taste that went with the lamb and the sauce. The filet mignon was cooked PERFECTLY. Crust was great on it, super tender. The potatoes it came with also were great soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. We then got talked into dessert (which was pretty easy to talk me into it) . We had the warm donuts. It was so good! One thing I wish they did was give more of the Turkish coffee mousse that it came with! Eric did a good job at spacing the food out also to not feel rushed. Which led to an awesome experience. I've eaten at Flint multiple times before and it was always decent. This review is for the take out experience. I ordered a couple of appetizers and the chop salad adding the chicken minus the soppressata. When I picked it up and took it home , it became clear the salad was missing the chicken. Mind you this is not a hefty salad, so paying $36 for a chicken salad with no chicken and already minus soppressata meant no protein. The chicken was $18. After calling the restaurant they said they can't do anything about it because it was an online order ( Toast ). I have no idea where these people get their customer service training, but is sure isn't customer service when you get told I have to contact Toast for a refund. I worked in the restaurant business and if this was my place I would have apologized for the fiasco and had grilled chicken ready by the time the customer came back and threw in dessert on the house. Mistakes happen, it's how you handle them as a business that defines you. All of my business partners and customers who are always looking for a good meal for large or small groups? We came to Flint to celebrate our anniversary. I'd marked this on my Open Table reservation and I was super impressed: the restaurant reached out to me ahead of time to ask how many years we'd be celebrating. They made a big deal out of congratulating us repeatedly, offering us free champagne, dessert etc. They even had a sweet card on the table for us. It was all very considerate of them and very much appreciated. My husband and I were thinking the same thing tonight: salad and a kebab. He ordered the Flint Chopped Salad and Honey-Harissa Chicken Kebab. I had the Little Gem Caesar Salad and Filet Mignon Kebab. My salad was underwhelming. It had a lot of bitter lettuce, the breadcrumbs were tiny so you couldn't really taste them, and the cheese was almost nonexistent. I felt pretty let down by that, but the Filet Kebab made up for it. The meat was three large, delectable chunks of prime beef. They were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Our server had suggested putting the very pungent sauce on the side which was a great call. That way you could control how much you want to dip. Speaking of our server, JP was so wonderful. He approached us with a huge, welcoming smile and could not have been any sweeter all night. He gave us great suggestions and of course, offered the freebies for our anniversary. We enjoyed the cheesecake for dessert and then JP wished us many more happy years together. I had high hopes for our visit to Flint Restaurant, especially since it was my father-in-law's birthday, but unfortunately, our experience was far from ideal. Upon being seated, we were left waiting for an unusually long time before being greeted, which set the tone for the rest of the meal. The real kicker came at the end when we had to track down our server to get the bill--something that should be seamless at the end of any meal. We were planning on ordering multiple desserts to share with our party of 7 but at this point we didn't want to be there for another hour. While the food was good, the service left much to be desired, and the overall experience didn't make us feel valued as customers. I try to keep with actual food reviews but I just needed to share this experience: I made a reservation for 2 groups of 6 for my birthday and asked if we could be sat near each other. Was told it wasn't guaranteed, and I get it. I thought the place was small and sometimes it's difficult. Then we get sat at the 2 furthest table in the whole restaurant. My golly, I've been in the business for 10 years before as hostess and waitress, and it is not that hard to try. When my friend asked the manager about the situation and what can be done she shrugged and said "I said it wasn't guaranteed." We walked back and forth to talk with each other and would see open tables for 30+ min a time. You can't tell me no one could've tried to put our table on the same side of the restaurant at the least. We had other activities planned after dinner and making a reservation for an event wasn't worth our money if we didn't plan on being there even a full 2 hours ($1500 minimum + 15% total in service fees and taxes + 20% gratuity). The oysters were the best part and they weren't even consistent (some were super briny so someone didn't try the salt water before adding to it). The experience was so distasteful it ruined I barely remember the food. It was better that we didn't book the event; at the end of the night, you're here for aesthetics, the view if you're upstairs, and ok food. A lot of potential here but poor management can easily run it to the ground. Worth a 1 time try but go at your own risk. read more

For dinner, we sat inside the main dining room (I asked about the deck and it is closed until the weather cools down a bit; a more limited menu of drinks and appetizers is offered up there too. We started off with the grilled artichoke, grilled octopus and burrata. Everything was seasoned perfectly. We added in a burger and lambchops too. I was probably more impressed by the smaller plates we started with but these were good too. The service was very slow and anytime we wanted something we would have to flag someone down because we were not regularly checked on. I got the spicy margarita on happy hour which was good. I also got the espresso martini which was probably one of the worst espresso martinis I've had. The happy hour burger and fries is a great deal and tasted good! Our family had a birthday celebration for a party of 5 and we were all impressed. Great ambiance and interior decor. We parked in the garage which was quite a maze and took a little while to find our way down to the entrance to the restaurant. Tip: utilize the valet services in the front & bring your parking ticket as they validate. Eric was our server. He was great and answered our questions and offered his recommendations which we were happy with. Appetizers: artichoke hummus w/homemade pita and grilled octopus were both excellent. The grilled octopus was so good that I ended up having it as my main entree. My husband had the lamb chops (4 chops) which he stated he would return to Flint for the same dish.
