The only reason I gave this review one star is because I couldn't give it a 0!! I came to this restaurant for the first time and the customer service was HORRIBLE!!! The brunette bartender, Emily, was rude to myself and my company when we were asking generic questions. It seems like if this incident did not happen, my review would not have been too bad but I do not appreciate how rude and irritable she was to my friends and I. When we first got there to put in a drink order, she stated that she couldnt put our order in without taking a card to put on file, didnt even take the time to check ID's but more concerned with the money. She yelled at my friend that she wasn't taking an order without his card. After ordering she brought us our food she pretty much threw it at us. She sat the food at the edge of the table and walked away. Didn't bother to ask us if we were okay or needed anything. We had no utensils to eat with or anything. She was horrible and made our experience at this restaurant extremely frustrating. Once we complained to the Owner, another bartender named Wes started to try to make things right by interacting with us and apologizing for Emily's behavior. He was very kind and a great host. Unfortunately, because of Emily's behavior and my friends already being upset, we decided to leave and couldn't enjoy the night. The place seemed to be a nice spot if the customer service would've been a lot more inviting. The sad part is that all the staff including the owner was apologizing for her behavior but not one time did she come by to apologize. Instead she sat behind the bar with a pissed off look on her face grimacing as if we did something to her, when all we did was walk in and sit down. This will not be a place that we will return to because her behavior was unacceptable. Its sad that owner's have to suffer because of the employees behavior. I really hope that in the future they will do better with customer service. read more

Chill place for a cold beer and some mediocre food. The customer service, although lacking, was decent given the amount of staff on hand. The GOV cheese being handed out has pit a severe hindrance on obtaining employees. They were extremely friendly and great with our kids and were awesome hosts. We came on a Friday afternoon for lunch, placed our order almost immediately, and had to wait almost an hour to get our food, and it was just burgers. When we finally did get our food, the onion rings looked like they scraped together whatever they could and they were ice cold, my roll was so stale the bread was crumbling. First time going will be out last. Coconut shrimp was rubbery, the fried pickles were burnt and the Ahi tuna was thick not thin sliced. Asked to watcha football game and they switched it on no problem, but then every time they changed a channel on the tv behind the bar it would change our tv. Our entrees were cheese burgers, which we totally mixed up from what we ordered, one was pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, banana peppers and provolone cheese;the other was cheddar cheese, mushrooms and jalapeños. At least that's the way we ordered them, that's not the way they were received, toppings were mixed across both burgers. Also, substituted fries for onion rings on one order and received both. Great spot! Very laid back, good food, reasonable prices, & friendly service. They do a really good burger - it's actually our favorite in Myrtle Beach & I used to live here, so I've tried a few :) Crab cake sandwich is another solid choice for those trying to stay away from meat, but the burger is even better. read more

Way over priced! It's cool to walk to from the condo, but it's just bar food. Wings were flash fried and subpar. Cooked too long and very bland. My daughter found hair in her sprite and the waiter spent a minute trying to convince her it was a bubble in the ice. Then finally he says, "oh wow, it is a hair". I also had hair on my celery. I was severely underwhelmed by my experience at Flip Flops. It started out well--even with self-seating we found a table right away--but I knew it was going to be a bad experience as soon as our waiter came over. No greeting or even a "hello", just straight to asking for our drink orders. We ordered our food from him and then literally did not see him again for another 40 minutes. It seemed like most of the waiters were working the bar, but seemingly no one was manning the tables once the bar area got busier. No one came to refill our drinks and eventually we just went to the bar to get a few waters. We finally got our food and part of it was missing; at this point, we just told them not to bring the rest of it because we were so frustrated. Beyond the poor service, the food was not good; not even by bar food standards. We got the check promptly and paid in cash for fear that we'd never get out of there paying with card. I'm sad our experience here was so poor because it's so close to our condo, but we for sure won't be back, especially not to eat. The food was good. The best item was the Caribbean jerk wings. The jalapeño poppers and sandwiches were average. Fries were lukewarm. I'd recommend if you don't want to be exposed to CV19, you don't eat here. None of the wait staff or bartenders wore their masks over their nose and mouth. They just had them around their necks. Food was average but the waitress was terrible. She was attentive at first and brought us drinks and took our orders. Never saw her again until she brought our food. She brought the appetizer with the dinner and I told her that was supposed to be an appetizer. She then goes ballistic ride and says that is the way the kitchen is working right now. I told her to take the appetizer back so she throws the rest of the food down. I have her a $5.00 tip off a $75 tab which was more than she deserved but she came outside and threw it at us and said you need this more than us. I have never left that poor a tip EVER in my life. The last 3 years we have tried to give this place an honest chance since the location is convenient. We have been there multiple times a year and this year 3 times. It gets worse each time. Customer service is terrible, The female waitress is the absolute worst. Very rude and unpleasant. You never get a polite "Hello" or "Thank You" from anyone working there. Have always stayed on Shore Drive and gotten some needed supplies from the straw market and liquor store nearby. In 15 years have never tried Flip Flops, until this year. Our group didn't want to get ready and wait for 2 hours on restaurant row, so we walked across the street to try to get a table here. It was about 630 and already extremely crowded. There are only 6 or so tables outside and all were packed leaving only the single high chairs on the outside which you really can't eat at. We put our name inside and then sat outside enjoying the live music. Took about 45 minutes to get seated but once we did it was quick to get our food, drinks and then check. We were in and out in about an hour and 15 minutes. The wings were legit and the drinks were very tasty, although small. 6 of us cost about $120. Will go back in a pinch, but nothing overwhelming here. The few servers there were friendly but you could tell they were rushing around doing everything- cleaning tables, greeting patrons, making drinks and running food. I visited Flip Flops Bar & Grill with my family (party of 6) on June 13, 2023, after we left the beach. The prices were reasonable and there was a decent selection of entrees on the menu. There were less than 20 people in the restaurant but there was only one waitress working for the entire restaurant. They have small signs posted on the walls stating that they don't allow bills to be split and parties of 6 or more are automatically charged a 20% gratuity. I did not noticed these signs until after I finished my meal. When we asked to split the bill we were told that we couldn't and the only way we could pay is by paying it in full or splitting the tab 6 ways. Our waitress further explained that they have had difficulties in the past trying to split the tab with their system hence the policy. I don't think it should be left up to guests to determine how to pay for the meal which they ordered. I would not recommend this restaurant if this will be an issue for you like it was for us. In regards to my meal I order (Philly Cheesesteak with fries) I thought it was decent at best. There was more cheese, onions, and peppers on my sandwich than there was meat. The fries were not seasoned whatsoever. The waitress was clearly being overworked and it showed in her attitude towards us. She wasn't mean or nasty towards us, but I did not feel a sense of hospitality during my dining experience. The burden of the bill was such that she could divide the bill by 6 people but that isn't fair to put the burden on a customer to pay a portion of another customer's bill. Ex. If my total bill is $23 and the other customer's bill in my party bill is $33 , then according to the policy, the bill would have to be divided by 2 if one person couldn't pay the entire bill. By doing it this way, I would have to pay a portion of the my other party's bill. This is just wrong and no way to operate a business. read more

Do the workers in these resort areas understand they have jobs and a way of life due to tourism ???
