This restaurant was only steps away from the condo we rented and after an 11 hour drive we were hangry and needed some adult beverages and this was the place. The servers were good, the drinks were cold and the food was hot. The only downside was it was loud but it is a bar that serves families inside until 10 and has live music on the patio. Flip flops is one of our favorite stops on our girls trip. We always make plans to go there. We were able to meet one of the new owners this time, who was such a gentleman. He took great care of us. The bartenders are also amazing. I wanted to buy a t-shirt and they were more than accommodating. We love to hang out with the locals. The kitchen is usually closed when we get there, but everyone says the food is great too. If you are looking for a great time, you have to stop by. Wish we didn't have to go back home. This place has zero business serving food, and to be honest the employees don't seem interested in serving food either. Aside from bickering with one another, ignoring incoming customers and pretending eye contact didn't happen multiple times, walking around eating Doritos from a bag and checking in on the tables with mouthfuls of their dinner, I'm not sure why they are working there? Let's talk food for a second. The nachos had fake, canned cheese. Yes, that cheese from your daughters softball game. The one in the big can from Costco! Yes that one. I'm as shocked as you are. I hate to go on and on so I'll keep it short, crab cake sandwich is very similar to cat food, at least it looks and taste like it. Servers are very very slow and could not or would not crack a smile. Mid order they walk away ?? Food is mediocre at best. Drinks are definitely watered down. 1 man band was good on deck but no place to sit, if you stand wait staff will knock you over "flying by". Inside the acoustics are terrible left with a throbbing headache from the noise and cheap vodka even though we paid for top level. This place DEFINITELY left something to be desired. First off, when we came into the establishment we were to seat ourselves. This would have been completely fine if we were at least acknowledged, but we were not until 20 minutes later. The waitress never offered us menus and acted annoyed with our presence. The tables were filthy and we ended up cleaning them ourselves. The AC was on full blast on top of a fan blowing around the air. It has to have been one of the COLDEST places I've ever been. After finally being taken care after 30 minutes of sitting there with no drinks, silverware, or menus we were left to freeze. So much so that some of our party went next door to the gift shop to buy a sweatshirt. We then made the decision to move onto the deck to eat as it was warmer out there. There was a live musician there and he was not very family friendly and it was only 8 PM. The music was vulgar and he often used language that was not suitable to the MANY young children in the dining area. Not to mention the volume was incredibly high. So much so that there were children covering their ears and we couldn't even talk to the people right beside us. The food was less than average and the service never improved. After talking to the manager some of our party decided to get the bill early and leave. The few members of our party that stayed behind were then berated by the musician saying how "SOME people are offended by the volume of my music" referring to us after talking to the manager. Sat down to a dirty table and server promptly cleaned it with a dirty (mildew) dish rag. All good, we have 3 kids with us so we had an abundance of baby wipes. We proceed to re clean the table as the server is taking our drink order. We asked about the local flavor on beers and were told there was no options for local beer. We asked what was on tap then. The server replied we only have bottled beer. Ok, we'll have ... our drinks arrived quickly with a friendly smile. We then order our meal and wait 40 min for it to arrive on a seemingly mild volume night. The server arrived with our food and says I'm sorry but you kids meal chicken was out of stock as well as one of our sweet potato fries, would you like to substitute those for something else? Uhh, no, our children have now fallen asleep waiting, otherwise there would be hell to pay. The server saw that we were obviously annoyed by what has unraveled before us and assured us that they have taken the kids chicken and sweet potato fries off the bill. Thank you so much. read more

The bar didn't seem too great, but we walked in to the bar at 1 AM, hungry for some food since it was the only place open that late on a Sunday night. The cook opened back up his kitchen for us, and he told us he's make us some wings with his special sauce. I wasn't expecting much, but they were AWESOME. If I could give zero stars I would. We've owned a home in Myrtle Beach since 2004, and frequented Flip Flops often throughout the years. We called this afternoon to ask if they are "dog friendly" and we were told yes, on the outside patio. After dinner we walked a few blocks to Flip Flops with our dog with us and grabbed a seat outside on the patio. There was a man playing guitar who quickly took a break shortly after our arrival. We were greeted by a serve who took our drink order and proceeded to grab us menus. During this time our dog Mason was on a leash at my side and multiple patrons of the bar were coming over and petting him and even a few took pictures of him. Shortly after receiving our drinks our waiter asked us if we would like to place a food order, which we did. Approximately 5 minutes later we were told by our waiter that even though he told us on the phone that it was a dog friendly establishment, we had to leave due to the fact that our dog appeared to be a "pit bull" and the performer they have (a grown ass man) had a bad experience when he was younger. They comped our two drinks, we never received our food, and the "performer" didn't take the stage till after we left. Needless to say, my family has spent a considerate amount of money in this establishment in the past, and I wouldn't spend a cent here again in my life if it was my last meal. As far as the "performer" is concerned, maybe grow a set and do the job that you get paid for. You are supposed to bring business into bars, not shun them away. read more

Best place near Sands Ocean Club. We went there every day for either lunch or dinner. Short walk from the beach for a lunch break or dinner if you don't want to drive anywhere. The live music was good most evenings. Food was affordable and good. Drinks were better than Ocean Annie's. Deck was shady, breezy, and laid back. Not too crowded like the Boardwalk.
