I don't understand why bars do this, but the big giant TVs have two out of state teams playing while the Baylor-TCU game is on the small TVs. the bar was half empty and nobody was in the room watching the big screens. mind you, there we're 3 giant big screens all showing OK St-Kansas St. I asked to speak to the manager, he came over and explained that they set a tv plan in advance and can't change it once it's in place. yes, I was confused too. I said well nobody is here so can't you just change it this once, he said no. other people in the bar where complaint as well. it's a bar in FT WORTH, and TCU got one little tv, out of the dozens they had. Flips is nice and has a great layout, the beer is cold and the service is usually pretty good. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but it's there when you need it and it's pretty tasty. The crowd is usually well-mixed but some nights the place is packed with douchebags in many different colors of bedazzled Ed Hardy, Affliction and Tapout gear, backwards/tilted hats and EXTREME tribal tattoos. Not too much of a problem unless you accidentally make eye contact or gently brush against one of these apes on your way to the pisser. Then again this is par for the course in any Fossil Creek area bar... and that's my only complaint... but business is business. I'll go to Flips from time to time since it's down the street from my house, so on the way back from work or being out in Downtown/W. 7th it's a good option for a quick beer. read more

This USED to be our fave restaurant, BUT walked in and no hostess service, so we ask a waiter at a register, if we could just seat ourselves and then, nothing/No service for over 15 minutes, & they were over half empty. We tried to get the attention of a group of 8 waitstaff, to no avail.......So we left, and went to Twin Peaks for appropriate, immediate customer service. BIG MISTAKE! read more

Upon walking into Flip's, it was absurdly dark and your eyes never quite adjust to it. The restaurant was huge, with a "downstairs-like" area. There are TVs all over the place and they play country music. The patio looks awesome but it was too cold outside to utilize it. The waitresses were all teenage girls who clearly didn't care about their jobs. The non-working waitresses had a booth a table down from ours where all the rest of the working waitresses came to gather in between delivering food and drinks. Needless to say, don't come if you're in a hurry or don't enjoy spending useless time sitting at a table waiting for your waitress to even make eye contact with you. As for the food, we had the fried pickles, their "cheesy "cheeseburger, and the mushroom-swiss burger. The fried pickles were pretty darn good and the fries are made at the restaurant and reflect it- very good as well. The burgers weren't anything special, but they were still good. As far as drinks go... I wanted to ask if they actually put any alcohol in it. I had some fruity drink and a margarita on the rocks. Though both were very tasty, I wasn't too sure my money was going to good use. Best to just stick with the beer- at least you know they can't jip you there. I rated Flip's 2 stars because the obvious lack of management really turned me off and I felt jipped by the drinks. This place seems like a great place to come to just hang out and unwind... as long as you don't hate country music. We sighed a breath of relief when a non-country song played... but it was sadly short lived. The food was good and everything they had to offer on the menu sounded pretty good as well. If the service was better I'd rate it a 4. If the drinks were right-on, it'd be a 5. I don't ever PLAN to go back, although I would if someone asked me to. read more

I had to wait a couple of weeks to write this review so that I could be completely fair. Flip's is big and roomy with a lot of dead animals on the wall. The food was good even though they did not give me what I actually ordered. The menu is too busy and not very clear in its description. I ordered the Southern Slaw which the menu stated it was bbq pulled pork with coleslaw on top. I received a hamburger with coleslaw on top. Our personality lacking waitress implied that I had read the menu wrong. When I showed her the menu she said "you're right, that is a bit confusing" She did nothing to fix the situation or bring me what I actually wanted. Not only that but I was with several people. My daughter ordered a French dip sandwich with the grilled onions on the side as she was splitting the meal with her boyfriend. They did not bring the onions at all. I know this is not the waitresses fault but her replay to this was that the kitchen needs to pay more attention. She still did not even offer to bring the onions. The food was good over all but I'm not interested in returning or recommending this particular Flip's because of the way the waitress and kitchen handled (or not handled) the situation read more

So far every time I have come to this location I have had a great experience! Yes the location in Grapevine is closer, but I love this Flips much better. I have yet to have a meal here that isn't cooked to perfection and I have yet to have bad service. Tonight a group of us went to watch the NBA Finals and sat on the patio. It was packed, both inside and out, but our waitress never neglected us or forgot about us. Our appetizers came out hot and delicious' and out meals came out quickly. I had the jalapeño marinated pork chop, and I would so recommend this to anyone! It had the flavor of jalapeños and not heat, although I wish there was heat. We met some friends for lunch today and the food was great- the service was horrible. It took OVER 20 min for someone to come take our drink orders, and that's after my husband sought someone out- and a server said " I saw yall over there but couldn't get to you yet". Our waiter was nice, but was more interested in the benefit going on for his "homie" and setting up for that. A lady wandered over once, but we had no idea who she was- she had a different shirt on so she may be a manager but hardly acted like it and was also more interested in the benefit as well. The food was great, but we are service people- we go to places for good service as well as good food. This location failed miserably. The food here is really good. Made fresh and tasty. There are several Gluten free options and the bread is fresh too. Only downer for me is the smoking in the restaurant on the pool table side ... Love the food, usually have great service when I belly up to the bar! Careful about siting anywhere else though, waitstaff loves to chat in between tasks which is great when you are are camping out for a few hours to watch a game. By far the best place I've been to so far this year. I got married to my wife today and has a dinner held in their private room. I was amazed at the great friendly staff and the food. Good music...I was suprised they had a mix of top 40 from 90's to now. The drinks were average nothing specail. There was only one server and she made sure to check on us often. I would go back to watch a game or something like that. I wouldn't not go there looking to party more like I rolled out the bed and wanted a drink and some bar food. While I was in Flips, I saw a number of very odd things. The servers were VERY rude--giving nasty looking 24/7, not wishing their hands before returning work, and breathing very heavily on my food. I was just in town visiting my family, and was told bu many of my friends who live in Texas to stop by and try this place. Man, bad decision. We used to go to Flips a lot. We decided to go again last night. We asked for a table and the hostess said all of the tables were reserved but we could go to the bar where there was open seating, so we did. The tables there were either taken or dirty. We started to sit at the bar where there was a lone nearly empty glass. As we approached, the bar tender said, no, no, no , no....someone is sitting here! Ok, he didn't handle it with any manners or courtesy, but we moved to a dirty table. One of us asked for a cloth because the table was sticky, the bartender handed her a dry rag. Of course the table remained sticky. We waited a while yet no one came to the table. We finally left. So disappointed. read more
