This is tough one. Love the location, love the patio This place should be killing it. We ordered the grilled octopus to start....Very good. We ordered several rolls. The Mexican and 2 others. The names escape me. The rolls were just ok. The ponzu sauce did help. Maybe it's the ingredient combinations that need to be changed up. Flirt sushi has lots of potential. My suggestion would be to add some other types of rolls with some kick to it. I gave it 3 stars with promise. Bring your wallet, $12 beers and $30 rolls. We didn't make a reservation to dine for lunch. The location was great, within walking distance from my hotel. Our server was one of the finest. Though we were his only table. This location was very slow for lunch. I should have known because all the other 30+ restaurants were on a wait. That is why I thought to even think of trying this place. I will not be back, no thank you. I eat sushi at least 4 times a week on average. The edamame beans exceptional appetizer tasted delightful. I was wondering if restaurants in FL must install a triple osmosis water system. We ordered tap flat water. It tasted horrible and smelled worse. The chef's skills were basic. I mean this menu is for someone that only will eat sushi if it is a California roll. The names of the roll were sexy. This was a bit overpriced even for Sarasota, FL. My friends ordered the Latin Lover, Spider roll, and Mi-So Soup. I was a bit disappointed when I ate my Pinky sushi roll. It was lacking something. I just wish the rolls had more depth. read more

I didn't have high expectations because I've heard the same thing from everyone I spoke to about this place which is mediocre and expensive. We went on a Friday night. There were only two occupied tables. The hostess was quiet and seemingly unfriendly. The waiter was not very warm either. They were playing some strange house music. The menu was limited and had an overtly sexual theme. All the sushi had cucumber in it which is a rather inexpensive filler. We came for the sushi and I almost turned to the burger after a disappointing selection but opted against it because it was mushroom stuffed. There were two of us. We ordered three roles (one special and two basic) a espresso martini and a a Diet Coke. The table was small. The plates were oversized. The entire table was full. It was poorly thought out. The rolls were decent. The seaweed wrap was pretty chewy. Ultimately we were in for $95 ($115 after trip). We finished dinner left and got a burger somewhere else. This place will be out of business in six months. It was a weird place with a weird and unwelcoming vibe, high prices, and mediocre food. I think they were going for a sexy, playful, date night, hotspot but it was gimmicky, cultish, and definitely missed the mark. Happened to walk by this restaurant and wanna experience what they have. Great ambient for dates or gathering with your friends. Amazing quality of sushi here compared to other places down town. Price range wise is on the high side but worth the try! Only a few varieties of selections however overall experience was great. read more

Came in on a Saturday. I believe at the time this place had just opened up. There were maybe a handful of people here. I thought the lack of people was a red flag but I'm so happy I walked in. Great new addition to the downtown vibe. Stopped in for lunch with a friend. Small and intimate inside. We sat at the bar as there was no one else there. Bartender was attentive and friendly. There is a great outdoor space that will have a great vibe when it's not too hot. Courtyard surrounded by vegetation with a bar and tables. We each ordered 2 sushi rolls and the crispy tuna. It was EXCELLENT. This place would be worthy of 6 stars if it wasn't over priced. 3 glasses of LaMarca Prosecco, one sushi roll and I paid for half and appetizer and my bill was $85. Not the price point I want to be at for lunch. Still even high for dinner, but I'll be more likely to spend it on dinner. One other thing is that there isn't description on the menu (other than the ingredients in the rolls) for the small plates. I understand that the idea behind this is to get the waitstaff to engage in conversation with the patrons and discuss the dishes. That doesn't work for me. I would feel like a bother if i asked about each dish and also, i wouldn't remember if they explained each one. I'm happy we tried the crispy tuna. It was fantastic! - but not something I would have ordered off the description of "crispy tuna". Perhaps Flirt will come out with a lunch menu. If so, it could become a regular stop. read more

Interesting ambiance strange menu average tasting cleverly named Sushi roles. A mix of Peruvian sides and cooked vegetables . Abysmally slow preparation and supremely overpriced for what they offer. They need to realize they are in a neighborhood with excellent sushi significantly lower priced and more imaginative flavors. They need to significantly step up their game. read more

Sat outside on the patio, great ambience with upbeat modern music and beautiful landscaping. We were able to speak with the owner, Marco, who talked us through the menu and gave us great recommendations. Small bites came out quickly and were fantastic. We got the shrimp sumai and lamb meatballs, both cooked to perfection. The sushi was extremely fresh and delicious. Will be coming back here next time I visit Sarasota. read more

To be honest we didn't even get a chance to eat here because we couldn't get past the menu. My dad wanted to try this place because he had walked by the outdoor seating and thought it looked cool, we both love sushi so we came back later that night. As we were seated i already had caught onto the vibe that the host and the waitress thought we were together which is an already uncomfortable feeling, what was even more uncomfortable was being handed the menu and within seconds coming to the realization that this place had an overly sexual vibe. Sushi rolls with names like "swingers" "climax" and "foreplay" just to make a few. Needless to say we were pretty horrified, uncomfortable, and ready to leave. We quickly paid for our water and left. I do not recommend taking family members, business associates, first dates, or anyone else you wouldn't be comfortable with telling the waiter you want the "climax roll" to. I don't understand as to why a restaurant would limit their food to only a select group of people just by their menu. It seems like a drunk idea that was taken too far. read more

It's not often that I walk out of a restaurant without ordering anything. Menu was underwhelming and the prices were outrageous.

This was a horrible experience for my pre reservation of 15 guests. Although a table was set in the outside courtyard, no wait staff appeared for 30 minutes. They sent out a trainee who said he was not familiar with the menu and was not allowed to take orders. Another 15 minutes passed and the trainee said he could take our drink orders. 20 minutes later we had the drinks although the waiter tripped on a loose brick and spilled my entire Manhattan down my back. A female wait staff arrived to take our food order and she also did not seem to be familiar with many menu items. Although the food was good, the portions were extremely small and quite over priced. The manager finally came out to speak to us , after multiple requests and at first refused to comp my meal for the spilled drink. After much discussion he agreed to comp the meal and pay the fee for dry cleaning my outfit. Shame on the owners of this establishment for the unqualified staff and poor service. We will not be returning any time soon. read more

This restaurant is new and has done a great job redecorating to a contemporary style. The outside is very nice with an area for drinks and a separate area for eating. Upstairs can be used for a private party. We there with another couple last night (8/11/2022). Our waiter was Luigi who was wonderful! Described everything perfectly. We had the tuna tower which was not like any I had had. The tower was tortilla chips with ground tuna on the chips. It was very tasty but not like I had had before. I had the Flirtini, vodka elderflower, and prosecco - delicious but $18!! I had the grilled octopus which was great and my husband had the scallops, which he thought was good, not great. All I all good but very expensive. The "appetizers/starters" were what we focused on. The rest of the menu is either rolls or sashimi and a few other non-sushi items. All expensive. I agree with Gene, John and the other poor reviews. Flirt is criminally over priced and the portions are embarrassingly tiny. The owner walks around hitting on the tables occupied by women only and does not address male-female mixed tables. It was quite comical actually. I would happily forgive all that if it were not for the poor quality of food and the small fortune that you have to pay for it. The "Sashimi Orgy" entree for two portion is not worthy of an appetizer for two at any other sushi restaurant on the planet. This place does have a cool vibe, but the prices are a downright ripoff! If you want to feel hip and spend a fortune satiating your ego, this is the place for you. If you are confident in yourself and don't need to flush $$$ down the toilet to feel good about yourself, then this is a place to avoid like the plague. It is the gold chains, over cologned, humping one's leg on the dance floor version of a sushi restaurant. You'll need a shower to wash away the unsavory energy slime after exiting broke. read more
