This is a great place. The beer is very good and the food goes way beyond the traditional pub menu. You can get the burgers, but you can also get a super salad and entree. They have beer flights and also cocktail flights. The service was outstanding. We will definitely be going back, with friends. read more

I'm from out of town and was lucky enough to pop in to this restaurant. It has a great vibe and the food is really good. The fries are the best I've ever had. the food is good but its very pricey for what you get. I like the atmosphere and everything but between the high price for the been and the high price for the food I don't think its worth it. I really also wish they would have their own brews there as it is now they have a beer menu that I can find at most other restaurants a lot cheaper might I add. We were seated and a young lady who was not our waitress took our drink order, but laughed when I asked for a blonde lager and said they don't have that - I was not sure if it was a kid or pretentious brewery attitude. The menu is too small to read and it's too dark in the restaurant to read it. So I pulled up the menu on my phone and my wife used the camera on hers. The menu did not list ingredients - for example - chicken alfredo is fried chicken alfredo with pickled jalapenos and pasta basted in sauce, but no real sauce. My wife told the waitress that it was not listed as fried in the menu, when she asked if it was OK, and the waitress response was "yes it was, I'm sorry." Waitress empathized, but did not correct anything. The coconut shrimp is basically grocery-store quality with asian chili sauce on the side. The waitress asked if we liked it and we responded that it was not what we expected. Waitress said "I'm sorry" and walked away. The waitress empathized, but did offer correct anything or learn more to help get feedback. The back half of every chair at our table was sticky. I switched chairs, three employees watched, none asked what might be the issue. The waitress even stood by for me to finish. My shorts stuck to the chair my whole meal every time I moved. $70 later for a burger too salty to eat and rubbery alfredo with no sauce over fried chicken and now I know why small businesses fail. read more

Been to this place 5 times. Each time was great. Have had three of their brews all great. Have had chicken tenders, fish and chips, burger. All great. Sautéd spinach is particularly good as are the fish and chips. Very good vibe. Highly recommend. read more

Our experience was very good! Nice to have a place like this near home in Liberty Hill. The interior is very well decorated, very comfortable. Like other reviews I would say the prices are a bit high... but we will come again because it's a nice atmosphere, good food without having to drive far. Hell or High Water has been one of my favorites since they first opened but had become so popular lately I stopped going because I didn't want to wait in line. However, after sampling the other Liberty Hill offerings this weekend, I found myself right back at Hell or High Water drinking delicious beer and eating delicious and relatively healthy food. Our server, Meredith, was wonderful and we even had a great conversation about sustainability that gave me some good ideas to apply at home and hopefully with the community. read more

The drink prices are higher that the better places in Austin proper...higher than I'm used to paying Internationally. $12 for a "pre-made" Old Fashioned Cocktail. $10 for chips with queso & salsa which I'm 99% sure are not made in-house. Went here two weeks ago and food and service were good. Went tonight with another couple early, at 4 and both good and service were lacking. It wasn't busy, so I don't understand why there was such a change. We had fish and chips, which was so greasy, that I would have sent it back hand a server appeared. We didn't get service even aver requesting our server 3 different times. We were told by a young woman we asked for assistance that she would get our server, who did not appear. We had our water refilled and were told that our server would help is, as we were by now requesting beverage refills again..Finally my husband got up and went to the front of the restaurant and asked for our server. He finally appeared after our food was eaten, as we were with another couple and didn't want to wait any longer. He appeared with our check. The mixed drinks of a bloody Mary and mojito look beaut, but are more ice than beverage, which we also did not have the opportunity to voice concerns about. We wanted to support local small businesses and make this one of our few biweekly restaurant stops, but after this visit, especially since we bragged to our invited friends it's doubtful. read more

My husband and I frequent Hell or High Water. The folks are always welcoming and the food is very consistent. They are truly masters at the drinks so we love to come during happy hour. I typically bend toward wine or mixed drinks, but the staff has taken their time to help me also find a beer or two I truly like. Their assortment of beer options will please any discerning palate. It is a very focused menu but what they do they do very well. The pork sandwich is massive and even my husband was taking home part of it for leftovers (and it heated well!). The burgers are juicy with flavor, I appreciated their heads up that at the time we went back they had to decrease the size of the burgers because of meat shortage - we wouldn't have even notified! We appreciate the multiple areas to sit so you can change it up on mood - outside on the patio, at the bar, in the larger room with the musicians, etc. Love they bring in different assortment of music and create a vibe for the locals as well as those coming in for a visit. read more

Ordered food online an hour later while sitting out front they announced that it would be another 30 mins to get us our food and offered to refund our money. Went on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy. We were told it would be a 40 min wait or we could sit at the bar where its full service. We opted for the bar. The bartender was very nice and made me a really good Mexican martini. All service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. The lack of stars is for the quality of food. I ordered the chicken breast with veggies and baby potatoes. My husband ordered the fried shrimp, veggies, and fries. My plate was the saddest thing I've ever seen. It looked like a school lunch. The "veggies" were straight out of a frozen bag. The chicken breast was small and very thin, served on a single piece of old lettuce. The baby potatoes were the best part. My husband had the same sad veggies, some sub-par fries, and said the shrimp was ok. What really gets me here are the downtown Austin prices. The martini was $13, and the plates were around $14. Our total bill for 2 beers, martini, and two entrees was over $65. Way too much to be paying for bad food. Maybe we will come back for just drinks, but it won't be our first choice. read more
