Victoria did an amazing job with this coverup tattoo! Had a great consultation with Victoria and gave her some ideas of what I was looking for and she delivered. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in getting a tattoo, especially if you're looking for a coverup artist!

From start to finish, my experience working with Victoria at Floating Lotus Tattoo was stellar. I initially found her website when I was searching for local tattoo artists who were open to using numbing creams. Our initial phone call to set up an in-person consultation was informative and thorough. I gave her the background on the occasion for this tattoo, the general motif I was going for, my previous tattoo experience and my design ideas. She gave me instructions to bring printed images so she could see them in better detail versus looking at them on her phone. Meeting with Victoria for the consult in person was lovely. Her enthusiasm for my project was obvious. She gave me some good suggestions for the final design, the placement, and what elements to save for another tattoo in the future. All of her suggestions were spot on. She gave me clear instructions for applying the numbing cream for our first tattoo session as well advising me to get a good night's sleep, eat well in the morning and avoid coffee in the 6 hours prior to my appointment. Our first session started by reviewing the final design and making a few tweaks; she was very open to my suggestions. Then came laying in the black ink and the gray shading. It took about two hours with a short break at the one hour mark. I had followed her advice to bring some high protein snacks and electrolyte drinks to keep my energy up, which helped a lot. Because I have some extensive sun damage on my forearm (lots of freckling and age spots) and likely some recent unprotected sun exposure, I did get a very small amount of ink blowout in a couple tiny spots. She explained what had caused this and was very reassuring that it could be dealt with once I healed. I followed Victoria's aftercare instructions to a tee and had a good healing experience in the next three weeks. My second session started with a review of the full color design and I was so impressed with her eye for design and balance. It was even more beautiful than I'd envisioned. She incorporated all the flower colors we talked about in a lovely, creative fashion. The tattooing started first with adding a bit more gray shading and then adding a couple more flower petals and leaves in the blowout areas. My skin took those corrections very well. Victoria then started laying in the color elements. Her way of blending the colors was almost magical as I could see the image come to life. Total time for the second session was about two hours. It's been two weeks now and my tattoo is healing quite well and I'm so happy with it and with Victoria. I will go back to see her later this summer for some small touchups as she suggested. Other notes: the numbing cream Victoria recommends worked great and she even reapplied a bit more during the process. Closest to my wrist, where there are so many nerve endings, I did have some slight pain, but nothing beyond a mild discomfort. I will probably use it again. Parking can be a bit tricky as it is a busy area of town so I allowed extra travel time on my second visit and had no problem. Victoria's studio space is very comfortable, cozy, and nicely appointed. Her work space is very well organized. I have already recommended Victoria to several friends who are very impressed with her work, and I am already thinking about my next tattoo with her. I would not hesitate to recommend her in the future.

    "offshoots" -her design work

UPDATE: Responding to Victoria's comment..again..instead of words I am adding photos. PHOTO 6: the beautiful rework done by a different artist-it is the one with the flowers where we were able to keep the original feather and hummingbirds (not Victoria's work). (Note: Victoria told me multiple times this type of rework not possible. She also told me the flowers with the moon and sun at the top did not make sense from a design perspective) . In conclusion I do not agree that Victoria's assessment the rework and its design/final output were correct. In my opinion her design advice was not sound and her final work product work was disappointing to me. She is also painting an inaccurate portrayal of our email exchange, please also take a look at the other one star review-Victoria responds similarly to it and blames the client. Tattoos are permanent which is why this information matters. I stand by my original assessment: I would never recommend or return...and noting her responses to any form of negative feedback, there is a lack of empathy or accountability in how she digests her mistakes as a tattoo artist. ORIGINAL REVIEW FOR REFERENCE I have sat on this review for weeks and debated over posting. Instead of writing too much. I will post pictures of what Victoria's work looks like. Photo 1: For comparison-Original work from a different artist...I needed the light side shading re-worked. Photos 2-5: All of the grey work on the sides (NOT the feather or the hummingbirds-those were a different artist). The side "offshoots" from the feather is the work Victoria did on me. I added close ups so you can see the line work as well Luckily a different artist was able to fix it all and make it something beautiful. I would never recommend or return to this studio again.

    Finished piece by Victoria!

I came to Victoria randomly for my first large piece, and I was so lucky to have been given to her very capable hands. We have similar interests and share certain ascetics. I knew I had found someone who would translate my vision and steer me in the right path. Victoria is very detail oriented and leaves no stone unturned. In our latest piece, she was very patient with me as I worked through what it was I wanted. Victoria is great at taking all design elements into account and using the area of the body to enhance the piece. Her studio is immaculate and very organized. Now she has her own space, so it is just her. For my first piece, she was working out of other studios in town, which was fine, but having the privacy is great. Victoria is very calming and great to chat with while she works. Her comprehensive before and after care rules are responsible for a pleasurable experience and my pieces healing beautifully. She is very dedicated to her craft, and it shows in every aspect of the process. I can't wait to go back for more.

My friend and I were wanting matching plastic vampire teeth tattoos since it'd be Halloween weekend and he was so kind when I told him what we wanted and mentioned he hadn't finished his flash sheet so he'd add in the teeth, (spoiler, they were PERFECT). The day we were planning on coming in was their planned flash day so we knew we had to anticipate a potential wait. The rainy Portland weather was in our favor because, even though we were unable to make our way in at 10:30AM as he recommended, we ventured in at 3PM and still got a spot in line. Jared was great, adding the text I wanted to my flash, and even touching up a small hand/wrist tattoo that was poorly done by someone else in a different state prior. Truly, so thankful he answered the phone that day bc I got a great vibe from him. He was also able to successfully turn my "splotch" knuckle tattoo (my loving nickname for it) to a beautiful black skull that ACTUALLY STAYED PUT (it was the 4th attempt over an old scar I had and he was the only one to successfully have a tattoo stick on it without it looking weird once healed). Since Jared was short on time before an appt, Ali did my friends matching fangs and they both turned out amazingly. Overall, I now fully intend to make the journey from Sacramento to Portland anytime I want something done so I can specifically have him do it or his shop-mate that does phenomenal portrait style flash/tattoos (she was diagonal from us when we were there - blonde long hair and beanie). The shop was super clean, artists were all super friendly, front desk apprentice was easy on the eyes, what's not love? 100/10 could not recommend this place enough!

She didn't know at first but this was for my daughter, and it was the perfect art work to honor her that fit me perfectly. She also did a tribute tattoo on my other arm for my mom that was in perfect fine line that looks like it was hand written in one strike. She was easy to work with, really fun to talk to, and somehow made 4 hours fly by. I didn't think I'd want another tattoo for awhile but I'll definitely be back to Scapegoat to see Virginia soon. Sarah listens closely to what you want and then finds a cute, stylish way to make it work. Her placement is precise, she has a firm yet gentle touch, and her use of color is fantastic (both color theory and saturation). I've never been hip and now I'm getting old, so I'm quite used to feeling anxiously out-of-place in tattoo shops, but Scapegoat is more approachable and welcoming than your average shop. They go out of their way to offer water, space heaters, heating pads, masks, or whatever else might make you feel most comfortable. The artists seem to support and treat each other kindly. The bathroom is a work of art. Everything is clean. It's easy to find unmetered parking a couple blocks away. And this is a vegan business to boot! I couldn't ask for more.

Conversation flowed easily and he had a killer music playlist going. Even his partner Hanam was a great guy and seemed vested in the quality of the work being done! I made the terrible decision to be tattooed by Toby. I went in to start on a full sleeve, although it wasn't technically a full sleeve but a 3/4 sleeve. I have a tattoo on my upper arm that takes up half of my upper arm. During my 1st appointment we discussed that we are going to keep and incorporate that one. At my 1st appointment Toby told me that it would take 3 sessions since it wouldn't be an actual full sleeve. I paid for a full day session. He told me at my 1st appt that the stop time will be once I tap out. Our first session he ended early and said that his kids were sick. He specifically told me that our next session won't be the same. He also said our next session wouldn't take as long to get started. I went back in for my 2nd session yesterday at 10am. He showed up late like he did for our 1st appt. It wasn't until about 11am that he started drawing on me. It took him about 4 hours to draw on me. Keep in mind we haven't even started on my upper arm. He was drawing on my lower arm. Finally by 3pm we get started tattooing. The table wasn't working properly so he had to reset up a new one. Then some random person walks in looking for a tattoo. He stopped tattooing me to go chat with the person. Then throughout my entire session he purposely inflicts maximum pain. He seems to think that I don't have any large or decent pieces. I have my entire back done. I also have portraits and pieces on my legs. I have good quality work in those areas. I only mentioned to him that I wanted my back covered up, but because I don't like it anymore and don't have those beliefs anymore. It's not due to the quality. The tattoos that he was starting to cover on my arm are much older tattoos that I got when I was younger. Based off of that I suppose he thinks I don't know any better. My ex is also a tattoo artist so I understand needle groupings, heavy hands vs light hands, dry wipe vs wet wipe etc. Throughout my entire session he never finished a single area. He jumps from area to area throughout the entire process. He would randomly jump from my wrist, elbow, side of arm, just all over the place. He opens up the area and works on it for a while, then moves to another area for like 20min or so, then moves back to the area he opened up. He inflicts serious pain. I hinted to him several times that each time you do that it hurts much worse. He never listened and continued to do it. I told him from the start that I wanted to work in a particular area first. He didn't listen. He is super heavy handed intentionally. He dry wipes with a paper towel the whole time. He inflicts maximum pain to attempt to get you to tap early. At the very start of our 2nd session after the marker was drawn on, I flat out asked him will you be able to finish this today to which he yes. By about 10pm he said we should call it a night. I literally only had maybe 1/2 of a half sleeve. There was so much work to complete still. I told him no I want to keep going. He didn't want to but I was persistent. So we get back to tattooing. I asked him flat out why did you tell me that we would have this finished today if that isn't the case. He said well there are a lot of factors like the way a client takes pain. I told him he put me in a ton of pain but I never once stopped him so what do you mean. I told him I feel lied to, taken advantage of, and just how unhappy I was by this and that I won't be continuing with him. I was planning on getting 2 full sleeves, full chest piece, and a cover up on my entire back. I told him you literally told me that for a full day session that it means we stop once I tap out. He got extremely combative. He said that in the fine print says he only tattoos 7 hrs max. I said why did you lie to me then? He ended up calling me an asshole and threatened to stop my work mid session to leave it. He said it's his right to do so. I said that I'd leave a review about this and he said that's "thats fine, I don't give a f". I'm not sure if he ended up texting his family or people or what. But suddenly around midnight all his people showed up at the tattoo studio I guess to try to intimidate me. I paid $ 3,225 in total and I don't have a completed half sleeve. I don't even have a single section of my arm that is complete due to him jumping around constantly. Literally not even one single area of this "half sleeve" is completed. During our argument he scoffed at me and was the mentality of how dare you .. but he admitted flat out a full sleeve is 5 grand. I said okay and I've paid over 3 grand now and I don't even have a completed half sleeve. He refuses to take accountability. He is a very selfish mentality, a liar, and he will gaslight you the entire time. He pretends to be a nice person but he is absolutely not. He takes advantage of people and rips them off.
