I don't think there are enough words to describe how grateful my husband and I are for Flora and the team. My spouse and I got married in May 2024 and cannot recommend Flora enough! We got so many compliments on the venue. It's beautiful, unique, and super customizable. We had about 95 guests and it was the perfect size- it felt intimate yet spacious, and we loved that everything was in one central space. We specifically wanted a venue that already looked beautiful to minimize how many decorations we needed, and truthfully could have had nothing and the space still would have still looked incredible! Katherine, Jade, Jameson, and Amanda went above and beyond to help plan a great event. They were all organized and responsive, which made us feel so taken care of. We truly felt like a priority at Flora. Regular check in's helped us stay on track and took a lot off our plate, which we appreciated so much because of how stressful wedding planning already can be. As someone who appreciates organization, I was incredibly impressed with how prepared and detail-oriented they were. We felt like they were invested in our day and felt confident that they were going to execute our vision. We cannot rave enough about how their customer service alone is reason enough to book with them. Flora set a very high bar, and my spouse and I regularly joke we will forever measure other people's customer service against Flora's. Flora staff are clearly experienced in the realm of wedding and event planning, and offered us so much helpful and honest advice from their favorite caterer down to the smallest day of scheduling detail. Every single staff member we worked with from the owner to drink servers were friendly, helpful, and genuinely excited to be a part of our wedding. Even though it was one of the pricier options we found for a similar sized venue, booking with Flora was worth every penny. Katherine and Jameson are the sweetest people ever and will assist you immediately. They respond pretty quickly and work well with any vendor. I hired an outside coordinator for the day of and the Flora team assured me that it would run smoothly and IT DID! My guests were in awe when they saw the venue. We only had 100 guests but you can definitely fit more. The bathrooms are where we took our newly wed photos because the wallpaper and lighting is to die forrrr. I had the initial conversations with Katherine who was super helpful and is one of the top reasons we chose the venue. She was incredibly kind and attentive to my million questions and reassured me on issues that most inexperienced people would have with wedding planning. We were also able to work with Erin on creating our perfect bar menu. She crafted up the most increddddiibleeee signature cocktails based off of what we liked and gave us some great recommendations for the spirits/beer/wine selections. The drinks were seriously SO tasty. And lastly, we had the pleasure of working with Juliette, Flora's in house coordinator, and we can't say enough positive things about our experience. From start to finish, Juliette was an absolute DELIGHT to work with. She was incredibly organized and attentive to our needs, and helped us to create a vision for our wedding day that was even more beautiful than we could have imagined. Our wedding at Flora was amazing. The venue aesthetic speaks for itself. We chose this venue mostly because it was so well decorated as is, we didn't have to do much! The main reason for the review is for the coordination team. My husband and I went with the 45 day coordination that Flora offers in house and worked directly with Juliette and Amanda. They both made the days leading up to the wedding as seamless as it could have been, given I was still in the midst of making last minute decisions on my end. Their personalities are warm, positive, and helped put me at ease feeling like they always had everything under control. I've heard some crazy stories of things going wrong at weddings, but everything went as well as it could have. We also brought in our own decorations for the tables and they set everything up beautifully & put everything away so quickly. My fiance and I had been set to get married at Flora in August of 2020 (just a few days ago, actually). Of course, as a result of COVID-19, that was no longer a feasible option for the safety, health, and enjoyment of our guests. Throughout this unpredictable period, Flora was responsive, collaborative, and above all, empathetic to our situation. We worked with them back in April to quickly and seamlessly align their availability with our desired dates, and were easily able to move our wedding date back a year to August of 2021. It was as stress-free as moving a wedding date due to a global pandemic can be. Not all vendors have treated us with the same grace, empathy, and professionalism during this time (I'm looking at you, florist), and I've heard from a number of couples who feel they have been unfairly taken advantage of by venues and vendors. We toured 14 different venues (I know, it was quite the experience), and Flora outshined them all. Our first tour was with Katherine, the owner, and she was bubbly, personable and accommodating. She spent lots of time with us explaining various floor plans, showing us the different lighting options and the drop down projector for seating charts (you can change your seating chart at the last minute when inevitably a few guests get sick). She helped us understand their bar packages, and we loved how they source all of their alcohol from local breweries, wineries and distilleries. That said, they still were able to accommodate a bottle of Titos for my dad :) Once we signed with Flora, they introduced us to Erin, the beverage manager, and Amanda, the event director. They were both SO thorough, hopping on the phone with us multiple times to make sure we understood everything and had what we needed. We live in Brooklyn, so this was all planned 3,000 miles away, and they made it feel easy. Once we were 2 months out, we were introduced to Jillian, our day-of coordinator. GUYS - best decision we ever made to use her. She's positive, buttoned up, so so sweet... I didn't feel an OUNCE of stress on our wedding day. She made sure to coordinate with all of our vendors, and handled EVERYTHING. Our ceremony was a traditional Jewish service, and she had to roll with the punches a bit, but didn't skip a beat. Choosing Flora as our venue was by far one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We initially had viewed other downtown San Diego locations and just happened to find them and get them on the schedule, and it was absolutely the right decision. Full disclosure up front, they do have a relatively strict contract regarding the rules and regulations of the venue. With that being said, their team was incredibly open and responsive in having conversations about the contract, and personalized it when we identified some very specific circumstances as it related to us. Due to a smaller guest count we were owed money after the wedding, and we received the check in the mail, along with the security deposit, two days after the event had taken place which was a great weight off our shoulders. The venue itself is absolutely stunning. The live foliage indoors with the skylights immediately sold us as soon as we entered the building. The floor layout is perfect for small to mid-sized guest counts, with ours seating 80 people perfectly. With the gorgeous tables, chairs, and other décor housed on-site it makes planning rentals and decorations that much easier not needing to deal with outside vendors. The staff could not have been more professional if we had asked. Kathryn, Jameson, Erin, and the rest of their team were consistently responsive in the planning and execution of the wedding, constantly providing feedback and information when it was required. We had a handful of elderly/handicapped guests, and Jameson personally went to each and every one of them throughout the night to ensure that if there was anything they needed it would be taken care of. Especially on the day-of the wedding, Jameson was absolutely exceptional along with the bar staff in ensuring that transitions went smoothly and the guests had a great experience. He was always available for a phone call or email, and worked with us directly in problem solving and brainstorming ideas to make our day as special as possible. There have been countless guests who have given us feedback on how great the bar service was, which we could not have been happier with. All-in-all, Flora was an incredible venue to host our special day. This place is filled with magic! Seriously the most gorgeous space in downtown San Diego, filled with LIVE plants and it was the perfect place to host our Confetti Conference! They provided the tables and chairs that went perfectly with the space as well as had the AV equipment! We would recommend them for any event. Katherine and Sarah were both incredible to work with and it was such an honor to be their first event in the space! Truly lovely and oh so special and unique! This new venue has so many special touches that are unlike any other venue we visited. The natural light, moss wall, amazing foliage and the to die for floral wallpaper around the corner (trust me on this one, words don't do it justice). From a brides perspective there are also many other great features, a full kitchen for caterers, ample nice bathrooms for guests, a bridal suite, onsite coordinating and floral.
