This place is truly a hidden gem in Santa Monica and did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, we were charmed by the elegant, cozy décor and the warm welcome from Samuel, who took wonderful care of us all night. We started with two glasses of Barbera d'Asti, then shared several dishes--and every single one impressed: * Fritto Misto with grilled lemon (so light and crisp - I do love my fritto lemony!) * Margherita pizza (oh, that sauce! That crust! That stretchy cheese!) * Maccheroni Bolognese (arrived steaming hot with perfectly cooked pasta!) * Bread pudding (complete with an adorable, personalized message since it was date night!) And the bill? Surprisingly reasonable, especially given how expensive dining out has become lately. My only regret was having to share that bread pudding. Florence Osteria deserves much more buzz, and we'll definitely be back--I'm already planning to bring my mom here when she visits later this month. I rarely leave poor reviews to restaurants. It was a mistake as I walked into an empty restaurant at 6:30pm on a Saturday. That's because they have good reviews as a new restaurant. The Argentina red shrimp was ROUGH. If you can't source good ingredients, do not put it on your menu. The high light was the grilled lemon. Had the bolognese pasta and the pasta was ROUGH. The meat sauce was moderate and flavorless. Had to use the nicely grilled lemon for the pasta. I was so hungry so I had to eat with no choice. We went there at 6pm. Maybe too early. Let me first say that I feel very sorry for the people working there who probably try to make the best out of a terribly situation. At least socce wr was on albeit not for long. We sat down and no one cared. We got up and tried to order wine that never came. Eventually we learned that one has to order and pay thru their app. Fortunately we only tried appetizers first. Those did eventually come. The good news: the stuffed zucchini flowers were rather delicious. Shrimp, I was told, were ok but overcooked. Meatballs, let's just say don't bother. What a wonderful little Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown SM! Came here for date night on a Friday with the hubby and enjoyed it so much that we returned on Sunday with some friends! Not sure why the place isn't more busy. The food is delicious and the prices are very fair. Our favorites: Maccheroni Bolognese - 5/5. Excellent homemade pasta. Great portion, excellent flavor and saucy! I hate when you don't get enough sauce and this place delivers. Diavola Pizza - 5/5. Like a pepperoni pizza but with a little more kick. Delicious. Not too greasy either. My husband even ate the crust which says a lot since he normally leaves them on the plate. Hugo Spritz - 5/5. Super refreshing and not overly sweet. Bread Pudding - 5/5. Mmmm! No weird raisins or nuts. Just perfection on a plate. Comes with a scoop of vanilla gelato. Great way to end a meal. Forgot which wine my husband ordered but he enjoyed it so much that he asked for a second glass. Great pour, too! Service - 5/5. I wish I knew the name of our server. Very friendly and giggly fellow. We ordered takeout from this Italian place for the first time last night! I must say this place is very authentic and fantastic we got the Frito misto mix which was fried calamari with some zucchini a shrimp and leeks with a side of sauce was really delicious! For dinner we ordered the chicken limone, side of masheshed potatoes!!! Yummmmmmmmy! I was walking on S.M. Blvd and noticed that this restaurant had just opened and the server confirmed that it's only been a week. It was about 1:30 in the afternoon. I looked inside to see if I wanted to eat there and it was really dark, which for evening is fine but for daytime it felt gloomy. Luckily, they have a few outdoor tables. There is a sign outside next to their name that says "Pizza & Vino" except there was no pizza on their lunch menu. That is actually the reason I went in. I wanted pizza. Where's the pizza? I went onto their website and it's on their dinner menu. People do eat pizza for lunch ya know. Anyways, I ordered the Caprese panini because, besides pizza, I also love anything Caprese. It was absolutely DELICIOUS and they covered one of my pet peeves: I got a good amount of basil in it! That made me very happy. Minus 1 star: because the server was very nice but was on her phone a lot. I get that I'm the only customer and she's probably going to be bored until they get more known, but come on. Went last night with a friend and had an absolutely fantastic dinner. I live close by and when I walk past, it's been quiet inside (makes sense as it's pretty new), but that needs to change. First, the service was great. Everyone was kind and attentive. We each had a glass of wine, the Caesar Salad that was perfectly dressed (not drowning in dressing) with crisp greens, along with a pasta (the pomodoro) where the noodles were perfectly cooked, the margherita pizza which was incredibly delicious. The crust was flavorful (I almost never eat all the crust and I actually wanted more), the sauce was rich and savory, and even though I was full and couldn't finish it, it was still great when I reheated it for lunch today. To finish it off, we shared the limoncello tiramisu. Honestly perfect. Another huge plus, it was affordable. Great new restaurant and wine bar in Santa Monica! Four of us came on a Saturday afternoon excited for a range of Italian food. They have a special lunch menu with paninis alongside a regular menu of pizza and pasta. We ordered a Caesar salad starter, Maccheroni Bolognese, and split two pizzas: Margherita and Pesto. Everyone was happy with what we ordered. The portions are pretty sizeable as we were able to feel full and even take 5 slices home. Definitely doable to split a pizza between two people! It's a good spot for a business lunch in the day or a date at night (sit by the window!). They also have a massive TV if you want to watch a game or a trashy reality show. Delicious! read more

The food was amazing! Omg such good pasta and pizza. All of us were starving and the minute were able to indulge we went silent, thats how I know the food was delicious. Also the staff were so kind and welcoming. Before entering we kind of stood there feeling awkward because we all realized we were a bit under dressed but we went in and there was no judgement and everything went smoothly. Wow this place is amazing! We tried the fritto misto appetizer plate as well as the Caesar salad. They were both amazing. They use some delicious bread crumbs on the Caesar and the fritto misto was perfect. We also shared the diavola pizza and the dough was delicious! I don't usually like salami but this was phenomenal. My husband got the Waygu burger and I shared the spaghetti pomodoro with my son. All of their food was spectacular. The service was great and the ambiance would be perfect for date night. They have one large tv in there which was great for my son who loves watching basketball. They have a huge wine selection of Italian wine and I really enjoyed the vermentino. Our group of seven had such a great dinner here! I emailed ahead to ask about gluten-free options, and Maggie was wonderful--she replied right away, said they had GF pasta and other dishes, and even made our reservation. She recommended the Branzino (her favorite), so of course we had to try it! When we arrived, the staff had already noted our gluten-free guest, which was so thoughtful. Nathaniel gave us great wine recommendations. We shared the heirloom beet salad, two pizzas, two pastas, and the Branzino--all absolutely delicious. The service was warm and attentive, the food was fresh and flavorful, and the restaurant itself is small, cozy, and inviting. We ended the night with two desserts (because why not?). first off, the DO have lunch pizza-- & it is MARVELOUS. really 4.5 stars, only due to NO waiter followup once served. doesn't take much to ask "everything ok?"...again, superb mushroom pizza, cannot find a flaw to it. great crust, appropriate amount of shrooms... dessert: bread pudding simply does not even need all the extra sauces, it's nice & moist & tasty itself-- maybe just the cream sauce. a definite return spot read more
