Long time visitor, first time reviewing. I love Dudley Market. It's such a perfect spot in Venice, slightly hidden off the boardwalk. The restaurant is always consistent, always packed. They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait. There's a few bars nearby if you're waiting. Once you're able to sit down, you'll find a cute wine bar with amazing food that doesn't disappoint. Don't skip the fries. They're some of the best things I've eaten. I dream about those fries. The Peruvian scallops are dreamy. Very light, very refreshing. The same can be said about the cucumber salad. The standout of the evening was by far the burger. I've been to Dudley Market a handful of times, and I'd yet to try it. I'm so glad that I did. It was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had before. I highly recommend ordering this. At night they move the tables and the DJ booth turns on and it turns into a mini nightclub and most of the patrons we saw were they to pick up champagne to share and drink on site, the food here seemed an afterthought. The crowd here is very young, most people are in their 20s. You'll probably be one of the older ones if you are in your mid 30s like myself. It's also very loud and it's more a place to go with friends or a date, it's not really a foodie destination, it's more of a lively place to spend the evening. Parking is honestly really hard in this area so we took a Waymo because we live a mile away. Aside from that you'll most likely need to pay for parking. Our waitress was very polite, but our food items arrived pretty slowly. I started off with the Chicory Salad. Just a heads up search for the place on Resy rather than trying to make the reservation on their own site. I couldn't figure it out. The ambiance is what makes this spot. It reminds me of the fun New England seafood markets but with a little bit of a Venice twist. You'll find a genuine fried fish but then also sashimi which is fantastic by the way! I've heard about the burger here was good so I had to try it. I did a trip special for this. Burgers are probably one of my favorite foods and I prefer pub burgers. (These days there are way too much smash burgers). Anyways, I was disappointed because the meat was barely cooked. I'm not making this up either, look at the photo. In the plus side I did eat the whole burger because I'm okay with rare beef if it's high quality. The beef here was fresh and of high quality. They also seems to have seasoned the beef with some sort of steak like seasoning which was good. The bacon jam I did not like. It's not too sweet but the bacon pieces do distract from the rest of the burger. I'd much prefer a strip of real bacon if adding bacon. The bun was really good. A perfect bun. This is a fancy burger which is trying to be fancy. However they need to learn how to cook the patty's. They don't ask you how you would like it done either. The venue gave me the vibe of beach house combined with green house; simply cute and slow. They're known for their seafood so we certainly didn't skip having a couple from their raw section. Our picks were their Peruvian Scallop and Bluefin Tuna Crudo. Served on ice, the scallops were fresh and juicy. Nothing fancy but palatable. I would skip the tuna though as it had that fishy hint a bit and the sauce was just okay to me. My friend got their Dudley Burger featuring wagyu as the protein and apparently was one of their top sellers despite being well-known for seafood. I went for the fried fish katsu as I wanna go all in with seafood theme. My friend did enjoy hers, though it's probably tad smaller in size compared to typical burger elsewhere. The mussels I thought were just okay. The mussels themselves were excellent quality but it was the broth that we both agreed was just meh. Needed a little something extra. I'd try again if they switched up how they're serving them. The kanpachi crudo was so good and a nice seasonal touch with the persimmon. You really can't go wrong with anything from their raw bar. Lastly, for the star of the show, the burger. This is probably one of the best burgers I've ever had, ever. It doesn't even need cheese because the arugula, sauce and caramelized onion jam carry it just perfect. Dudley Market has long been on my list of restaurants to try. We finally came here on a Thursday night in June. We found street parking nearby and arrived at close to 6. They only offer very limited reservation times, so we put our name down for a table and strolled around nearby. They quoted us an hour wait to be seated and it was a bit shorter than that. There were a bunch of people hanging around the high tables outside drinking wine while they waited for tables, which seemed pleasant as the sun was setting. We were seated immediately when our table was ready. The interior of Dudley Market features dark wooden tables and exposed rafters, exposed brick, and lots of light. There's a wall featuring records and wine bottles. It feels like a trendy spot to see and be seen. We got two appetizers and two mains each, including the caesar salad, half a dozen oysters, mussels and fish sandwich. Everything was good, but not amazing. Service was friendly. We never had to wait for anything very long, and could always get our server's attention when we needed it. We agreed the burgers were delicious, appreciating that the burger went to the edges of the brioche bun, so it wasn't dwarfed by the bread. Couldn't pass up the fries, which came out first, with just enough chili flakes to give them some heat but not actually spicy. Next time we'd try the seafood, since the plates being delivered to nearby tables glimmered with fresh fish. The portions looked small, so having fish will be a lot more expensive than burgers. The staff acted far too "cool" to do their jobs, and the obnoxious DJ/chef situation somehow made the experience even worse. The only redeeming part of the night was that they removed the risotto from our bill after serving us something that tasted like lumpy plaster. I'll never return and suggest you don't either. Last night I was able to finally try Dudley Market! It was a great experience. My friend and I went on a Wednesday night at around 7:30pm. We were able to be sat right away, luckily! The inside is on the smaller side, very cozy with dim lighting and wine casing the walls. Makes for a nice ambience. We ordered two glasses of wine, both delicious. They have an extensive wine list. Great options to pick from. For food, we ordered a dozen oysters, the Caesar salad, French fries and the katsu fish sandwich. All of them were AMAZING! The fish sandwich was the star of the show.
