I replaced a system and had quite a few service calls at all the homes I resided in. Always a great experience. The techs were professional and knowledgeable and the office staff was always quick about scheduling. Now? They're never available. I wanted to sign up for an annual maintenance plan and they told me they're booking out to November. It's August. Service calls? Techs are never available in a reasonable time frame and their advertised 24/7 on call service doesn't actually exist. My AC was out on a Friday not too long ago and I was told I couldn't get service until the following Monday. 2.5 days in a sauna, yeah OK boys, I think I'll pass! Anyway, as they literally are unable to provide me with any of the services I've recently needed, I have to update my review and move forward with some other great companies I've found. **CUSTOMERS BEWARE - LYING TECHNICIANS**…read more Had a technician come out yesterday to fix a humming sound coming from my AC. When I made the appointment with this company, I explained that my air-conditioning is working fine but that it is making a humming sound downstairs and that I wanted addressed. The company even acknowledge that my AC was working fine because they pushed back my appointment one day for people that did not have any AC working, which was fine. When the technician came out, he did acknowledge the sound yet he did not check the refrigerant levels, which would be the first thing he should check. The only thing he did was open up the AC to check where the sound was coming from, then told me it would be "hard to find out where it's coming from." I offered the suggestion of putting rubber around the pipes to eliminate any vibration sound. He went to his car to check to see if he had any and didn't. How UNPREPARED can you be?!! I called the office the following day - they told me that the technician said my "AC is working fine and he didn't even hear a noise in the first place." No, what really happened is that he was either too LAZY to fix it since it was Friday at to 6pm, or had no idea on how to even fix it and lied in his notes back to management. Waste of TIME!!!! These people lie!!

Kevin Lanouette of Thresher Cooling in West Palm Beach is the real deal. A few years ago he serviced my old AC system, which was on its last legs. I told him I planned to replace it soon, but he honestly said it could probably wait. That advice helped me stretch the system another two years. When it came time to replace it, I got three other quotes, but I chose Kevin. Not because he was cheapest, but because I knew he does quality work, shows up on time, and treats customers fairly. During installation, he found no C wire for the thermostat. Because I requested it, he added it at no extra cost, keeping his original quote the same. The installation was clean, organized, and much easier to access than my old system. Later, I needed the air handler disconnected and reinstalled on short notice for a flooring project. Kevin rearranged his schedule to make it happen. When a roofing company damaged the condenser, he honestly advised it was cosmetic, but replaced it at my request. Kevin isn't out to make a quick buck. He genuinely looks out for his customers while still running a solid business. He's reliable, honest, and skilled. I will continue to use him for all my AC needs. Easy 5 stars. More if I could.

That kind of service is hard to beat. Of course, this past weekend our air conditioning decided to stop working, because apparently AC units only break on weekends and holidays! Ewing & Ewing is open 24/7, so we called and Chris Storey came out on Sunday morning. Chris has been to our home many times, and he is absolutely amazing at what he does. He had us back up and running in less than 30 minutes! When your a/c stops working on a hot weekend in South Florida, there is nothing better than the relief of knowing you have a company you can count on to come out quickly and get you back to ice-cold air. He saw the issue, took pictures and told us exactly what was needed. He also gave us the best and worst scenario so there were no surprises. It had a leak in the refrigerant lines requiring a new coil inside the house. Simple enough, except Jonathan was not able to get it from his supplier as he "owed them money and was tring to figure ot out". This went on for 6 months, when our AC would go out every 2 weeks. If we were lucky, Jonathan would return our call or text and show up a few days later to add more of the leaking refrigerant. Meanwhile, we are scrambling with our AirBnB guests and even having to cancel some. The whole time, I was cordial and even came down to politely begging sometimes. Fast forward after 6 months of begging time and time again to refill our unit, he finally got his account in good standing and installed our part. This was installed about two months ago. All was well until our unit went completely dead late on a Friday evening about 3 weeks ago. I texted Jonathan at about 10PM (yes I know this is late, I apologized for this and explained we were going to the hospital early the next morning to have our third child). No response. Texted him a week later. No response. A week later. No response. I was completely ghosted. I finally sent him a text today(3 weeks later) mentioning I would be writing a review about my experience, and he completely flew off the handle at me. He blamed my late text as his reason for ghosting me. I think it would be tough to find a more patient and understanding customer. Not once in the 8 months of this nightmare did I ever question one step of this process. Not once did I lose my patience. Not once did I complain, ask for my money back, nothing. I am in the service business and understand things come up. This was above and beyond poor service time and time again. Currently it's still 86 degrees in our cottage. I recommend you stay away from Halpert Air if you are looking for a company that won't disappear on you when you need them the most. Run the other way.

The installation result is horrible and careless - they…read moreinstalled outdoor unit backwards (and no, there is no regulation for that, I checked - they lied!), the indoor unit had cracks - they fixed that by screwing a screw (looks horrible), outdoor electrical box was hammered and crooked into the wall (I think it is just dangerous). Basically, they can do only cookie cutter - if everything goes great. If there are problems they fix them slipshod. Asking them to fix that was raising frustration from their side! They ask everything to pay upfront. Never do that! After the job, their installation handler Josh just started ignoring me!! Why? Well, because you paid them and you are not interested anymore. Only their technician Mike is good.
