I have had the opportunity to use her for 2 very different issues. I had a hyperstrained muscle in my back which radiated through my chest and it felt like a heart problem. Even a trip to the emergency room yielded no positive results. In my appointment with Dr Cruz, she located the source of the pain, and gave me an injection into the problem muscle. It immediately relaxed and the entirety of the pain and discomfort were gone within 10 minutes total. A miracle in my mind. My second issue was 2 years later as I was experiencing pain with what is normally associated with sciatica caused by lower back issues. After 2 1/2 months of therapy from a chiropractor in which things were only getting worse, I made an appointment with Dr Cruz. She located the source of the pain. She developed a non-surgical treatment plan which involved a non-invasive radio frequency procedure. One treatment and I felt all pain disappear. Another miracle in my opinion. Dr Cruz is a wonderful doctor. She is cordial and professional, and she listens intently while you explain what you see as the source of your pain. She branched out on her own and opened Adavanced Physical Medicine Spine & Joint Center. The office is located in the plaza on the west side of the intersection of Alt 19 & Alderman in Palm Harbor. The people were mostly great, and the care met the standards I would expect. However, the system works poorly. First, the "save my spot in line" process is poorly done. I signed up, got no confirmation, and could never check the status. When I called to see if I was really in line, I was told my the person who answered that she didn't know how it worked. I never got the promised text with 30 minutes warning of my appointment time. When I arrived I was taken back quickly, but then forgotten. I sat for over an hour in the little room before I had to open the door and ask if someone was going to see me. They had forgotten about me. The doctor was fine, and apologetic. Then it was another 30+ minutes to get an x-ray. Then another 30+ minutes to hear from the doctor. Then another 45 minutes to get a tetanus shot (they apologized for forgetting me again), and then when it was finally time to leave they told me I never did the required paperwork on arrival and I had to stay to do that. In short -- I was there for over 3 hours to get an x-ray and a shot, with an appointment. They admitted forgetting I was there twice. They said something about not scrolling far enough on the computer. It was busy -- but something is clearly broken there. I think the staff here was potential to be great, but maybe is let down by the patient management systems in place and general management of the facility.
