I couldn't sleep last night so of course I decided to do some research on some local bakeries in our area. I am always down for something sweet! I have driven by this shop a million times but never got the chance to make it in. After checking out all their photos and goodies off their website, making my way in today was a must. The shop is very small and intimate. You are immediately greeted by all the goodies as soon as you walk in. Colorful macarons, the cutest cheesecakes and beautifully displayed scones and muffins. The display case is nice and bright, allowing you to be able to see the details and coloring of each macaron. The pretty piping on the cheesecake. The fun layers of the cakes. It was hard not to want one of each thing out of the case. It was our first visit for my daughter and I. As a new customer, you're trying to absorb everything about this store. You want to look at all your options! The gal that initially was going to help us pretty much just stood there and stared at us. Didn't really talk to us. Didn't ask if we had any questions. She had the most unpleasant look on her face. It honestly made me feel so unwanted and uncomfortable to be at the shop. I offered to let another customer go ahead of us so she wasn't just standing there waiting for us to order something. The second customer also needed some time. Finally a gentleman came in and she got him some coffee started. Another gal was working and she helped us. At that point, I was so turned off about getting anything but we were already there so we decided to grab a few things. My daughter and I decided to share a 6 pack of macarons. We snagged lemon, birthday cake, coffee, chocolate, creme brulee and cookies and cream as our flavor choices. She also got a red velvet cheesecake for us to share after dinner tonight. On our ride home, we broke that box of macarons open and had to try them all. The lemon was sweet and tangy, I love the lemon custard in the middle. Birthday cake reminds me of a pink frosted animal cookie. The chocolate was my favorite! Very chocolate forward and sweet. Coffee reminded me of a vanilla latte in cookie form. Cookies and cream was much like cookies and cream ice cream. More cream forward and less chocolate cookie. Creme brulee had sugar toasted on top which created a slight bitterness to the cookie but it was balanced with how sweet the cookie was. All 6 macarons were fabulous! I look forward to having the red velvet cheesecake after dinner tonight. I like that there are so many gluten free options at this bakery. I adore how petite and prettily decorated the pastries were. I appreciate that this joint is local as I love supporting local businesses. But, first impressions are so huge for me and my first impression of their customer service wasn't there for me. You can push out great products all you want but how you make someone feel during their purchase can make or break your business. As fantastic as my macarons were, all I can think about was how uncomfortable I was when I was just being stared at. Macarons and cheesecake can be purchased at a few joints in our valley. I'm happy I got to enjoy some goodies with my daughter but I'm going to go support another local business that will actually make me feel like a valued customer and not a bother. read more

I'm so happy I finally stopped into Flourish. I've been wanting to visit for a long time! The parking in the back was very easy which I appreciated. My daughter loved picking out 6 macaron flavors and each one was SO delicious. I took home a tiramisu tart (wonderful!) and the raspberry lemon cheese cake (also amazing!!). I love that they have little cakes available too for $20. I could totally see coming in for a special treat to bring something like the $20 cakes to a dinner party or just a small delicious family dessert. Service was friendly and the inside was very clean. In the wayback of May 2021 when I wrote a 4-star review for Flourish they had no storefront and I was enjoying their mmmm...arvelous macarons and cake jars by purchasing them at Lark & Larder (there's a great little market in Boise you should visit) and the Boise Farmers Market, I thought if they had a storefront then the 5th star would rise. Shazam! They opened their bright, sparkling and contemporary design bricks and mortar bakery in a new building in Garden City in Fall'ish 2023 and while I have been in many times since then, I did not think to update my review to add that star. Today, Christmas Eve 2024, as I walked out with an eggnog cheesecake for Christmas dinner (as Ina Garten says, my guests do NOT have a better time because I made dessert) and a lemon meringue tart for this morning's breakfast (don't judge, ho-ho-ho), I remembered I needed to add that last star. GOODIES & BEV: Macarons, naked cakes and cake jars are their claim to fame, I think, but they also bake cheesecakes (hooray), tarts and assorted goodies like cinnamon rolls and muffins. They also have coffee beverages (and maybe others too but it is coffee that calls my name) like a nice Americano. MOSTLY GRAB & GO: There are a few high perch stools alongside a narrow counter at the window if you want do enjoy your purchases inside. But this is mostly set up to order at the counter to grab and go. LOCATION: Corner of Chinden and 32nd in Garden City. For location 'wayfinders', Telaya winery's lovely tasting room is straight down 32nd from here and Black Moon for great pizza and salads is about 6 blocks up Chinden. PARKING: Unlike most of Garden City where parking lots are a mess, this new one in the back of this new building is in good shape. This one also has correctly designed and installed ADA parking. (Woohoo since I have multiple sclerosis since college and now rely on that parking myself.) Note the parking lot is one way in off of 32nd and another way out...I need to point that out to my husband every time. "NO, honey! See the DO NOT ENTER sign? You have to go around to exit." LOO: They have one and it is uni. Good to know before you order that cup of coffee, eh? I love that they had Mrs. Meyer's hand soap to use in it. The little things... I noticed that when I went in to use it for the first time today. ACCESSIBLITY: Accessible parking in lot at back. Street parking along side if you can navigate across a grass planting strip. Level in from sidewalk, all on one floor. The loo is perfect in accessible design EXCEPT the door is way too heavy to meet Building Code or ADA rules. Yes, they do need to adjust it at the spring loaded top to not exceed 5lb force needed to push it open. Yes, it is important says she who once was concussed after a fall from trying to push open a too heavy door in a hotel lobby loo as the cause. I will write a letter after the holiday as I imagine the owners don't know this code requirement and the fault is with the building department for not calling it out when the space is built. read more

Before I say anything, the service was incredible and I wholeheartedly felt welcomed into the establishment. However, the macarons were overly sweet due to the wrong type of filling being in the ones I tried. I got coffee, lemon, and a few others I cannot remember but the cream in the middle was very liquidy in all of them and too too sweet. If that's what you prefer, that's great! However, I was walking in expecting more of a traditional style of macaron, and I got disappointed with the change in the usual recipe I still enjoyed my trip here, the shop was charming and in a super cute location. I really want to go back and try their other baked goods, just not their macarons unfortunately. read more

I barely leave reviews, but the gf scone I just devoured was life altering. As someone with celiac, it is so hard to find a pastry that doesn't fall apart or require 6 glasses of water to get down. This scone was PERFECTION. Perfectly buttery, not overly sweet, crisp on the outside while soft on the inside. Incredible. I will be back for more. P.S. Please make gf muffins. I asked Flourish to make custom oyster-shaped macarons with edible pearls in the center for a Pearls and Prosecco themed bridal shower and they did an amazing job! Sarah was great to work with. They've been open for only a couple of weeks as of November 2023 and this place is truly a gem. We did not try the macarones, but there is a huge variety. I give five stars to the lemon meringue tart. One of the best ever. The coffee is very good and they serve a nice espresso. There are a few seats inside. I've been a huge fan of Danielle & Sarah's for over a year. I've hidden countless macarons in my mouth since coming across them at The Boise Farmers Market. They get creative with their seasonal macaron flavors, all of them so delicious (right now, for December I like their peppermint mocha and orange chocolate macarons).
