Delicious vegan cakes. I ordered the strawberry matcha, which was my favorite, and added the pina colada same day. My only complaint would be that the matcha cake still had paper dividers in it. It was pretty annoying to pick them out of the cake or after biting. It is a small shop, can't even walk in. I try to keep my shoulder Angel on me at all times. I'm not a Vegan but I've given up dairy, eggs along with 'regular' pastries when I go out. But sometimes I'm not that good and end up messing up with a bite out of hubs' pastry. Hey...I'm human. I searched high and low in Westchester though for a Vegan bakery. There's this other Vegan spot heading south that sounds very nice but she operates mostly from home, advertises online, you have to call, she sells her goods in a local bakery, and in a pop up shop, etc. Which i don't mind and think it's cool- but I like to see my stuff, pay and be on my way. So up until re. Flourishing is located on Summersfield St. and not far from White Plains Rd in Scarsdale- and just so you know, Flourishing is surrounded by a mix of auto body shops. Place opens up with a small multi-use room(?) on left where they also store pastry boxes. Head up to another area and you have a small variety of goods, ready-to-buy packaged cookies, granola-type bars, Brownies and a few other things. She also keeps 1/2 dozen Cupcake selections (no singles) in her oversized fridge. I bought a Vegan individual Carrot Cake and it was truly insane. Snickerdoodles were good and the few other Vegan pastries I bought are ok- let's just say...it's an acquired taste. My husband and I cannot say enough great things about Flourish Baking Company and working with Diane. We recently ordered a custom "smash" cake and cupcakes for our daughter's first birthday. Our daughter is allergic to eggs, so it was necessary for us to find a baker who could accommodate her dietary restrictions. The theme of the party was unicorns. Diane was absolutely wonderful to work with. She executed our vision to create a beautiful and delicious unicorn cake and multicolored cupcakes. We didn't tell our guests that everything was vegan until after they ate the cupcakes and were raving about how delicious they tasted. Our guests were as blown away by them as we were! Also, I must also mention the amazing customer service. Diane has great attention to detail, very responsive (often responding to my emails within minutes even late at night) and she accommodated our schedule for pickup. Flourish is my favorite bakery. The food is absolutely incredible. Owners Michael and Diane are creative, friendly, and eager to help you find something you like. It probably won't be very difficult considering how truly great their food is. Flourish is way more than your typical confectionery. They have muffins, breads, soups, salads, seasonal items, and so much more. In fact, if you're looking for a traditional cake, cupcake, or cookie, this is probably not what you are looking for. It will most likely be better though! The food is made with real thought and effort. It's obvious in the presentation and the taste. They make their way around to some Westchester famers' markets on weekends, but you can pop into their space in Scarsdale during the week too. A great spot for coffee and a treat. I ordered some baked goods from Flourish today for a friend in White Plains who is having some serious medical issues (I live in California). I spoke with Diane about what I would like to get for him, and shared a little bit of his story. I told her I also had to figure out how to get them to him since I live on the other side of the country, and THAT'S WHEN SHE SAID SHE WOULD PERSONALLY DELIVER THEM TO HIS HOUSE BECAUSE SHE PASSES BY THERE. Flourish has a stand in Madison Eats on Madison above 23rd street. Their quinoa mushroom burger is the bomb and if you cannot eat gluten I highly recommend this dish as well as all the other veggie yummies served to you by the lovely owner.
