I had a 9am appt. and out by 9:15. First cut of the day. Yeghine was my stylist/barber. I was in the chair for 5 - 10 minutes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Most of the time Yeghine was telling me how wrong I was. I asked for her to keep the style that I had and to trim it . She decided to blend one side of my head. She asked if she could take the volume off the top and I said no. I was done being chastised at this point[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. She charged me for a neck trim since it was only 5 minutes and not a cut. I never have had this experience at Floyds or anywhere else where a stylist or barber has ever been so assertive and rude. I shouldn't have been charged at all but instead she charged me $19 for a neck trim. For 5- 10 mintues of discomfort and non existent haircut. I still have to go somewhere else to get a cut. I loved my walk in visit to Floyd's today with my longtime sister friend, it was an amazingly clean, quiet, and friendly local barbershop! We both got assigned to our lovely Fairy God Mothers for the day and got tucked into transforming our hair after years of not cutting our hair due to life but yes. Out of the few times I've been here, I've never had a positive experience. Sometimes the stylists are late to their appointments or take too long with their previous clients. Other times, they straight up mess up your cut. My wife came here last year and they cut her hair way too short. They realized their error and gave her a free cut but the damage was already done. If you have time to do your research, there are so many better independent mom and pop shops out there that take quality in their work and are not rushing through to get to their next client. This place is honestly pretty hit and miss. I've gotten some good haircuts and some truly confounding ones from here. For instance, I went in yesterday and got a cut, showed a guy a picture of myself from a while back of what kind of haircut I was looking to get, and the dude just cut it SO MUCH shorter than what I had showed him. I was just like, how is this your idea of what I showed you? It's truly baffling. It's not like I showed him a picture of a celebrity or a lookbook or anything either. It was a picture of me, I know that hairstyle is possible. I just don't get how the dude could see that picture and cut my hair the way he did. Had a short haircut with Dolores and she was great! I wanted my sides a little shorter after the initial trim and she graciously did that for me. I appreciated that! I didn't say yes to any of the extras offered by Dolores including hair wash and massage - which Studio City Floyd doesn't offer (or doesn't promote while on the chair) so I wasn't sure if it was an extra cost. Learned from my partner that this is part of the experience here so that's cool for future visit. We've tried other Floyd's locations in the past with decent results. Since my husband need a haircut ASAP and our regular stylist from another salon is on vacay, we decided to give Floyd's in Burbank a try. I called before leaving to see what the wait is (don't mind a bit of wait, just want to make sure we wouldn't have to wait for a long time), they put my husband's name on the list and off we went. There's a decent parking lot on the side, always a plus. We were greeted as soon as we went in and checked in, everyone who works here is pleasant and nice. We were told the wait won't be longer than 10 minutes. In less than that, my husband met Leah, his stylist. We explained to her what we wanted and she got to work. She was nice, pleasant, very detailed oriented and I like that. The atmosphere in Floyd's is to be expect, rock'n'roll kinda of vibe, with loud music, fun, too many TV screens. My husband's cut was nice, shorter than usual, but he wanted that since it's so hot this summer. Leah was very cool and did a nice job. They do seem to cut the hair a bit shorter here, so watch out! I'd be nervous as a girl with longer hair to have it cut here, but I might be pleasantly surprised. Prices are a bit higher than other chains - $28 for a man's cut. As long as the haircut is good, it's still reasonable. In the past, Floyd's had the policy that you couldn't ask for the same stylist which sucked when you found somebody you liked. Luckily, they changed that, so you can get an appointment with someone you liked, that did a good job for you. Overall, we had a good experience and it's a nice option. Not sure what happened to the Floyd's experience. They used to be different. What happened to the hot lather shave on your neck? The fun service? I'm fine with them no longer doing the massage thing, but what about doing at least decent cuts? From walking in the door to leaving with my haircut it was less than 10 minutes. Not an exaggeration. I texted my friend right before I sat down in the chair. Looked at my phone after and 11 minutes had passed from texting pre haircut, to paying and sitting in my car. 11 minutes?! The shop was empty. Only a few stylists and a receptionist. Not sure why I was rushed in and out. During the haircut they rush wiped the hair off me with a towel and got hair all in my eyes. Didn't blend anything. It was the most basic haircut I could have done myself at home. Didn't offer product. Just quick cut and get the F out. When I went to pay guy at the front didn't say anything. He just pointed to the card reader. Once my card was charged he rolled his eyes and I left. At least now I know why it was so empty in there. The 1-star review from others was actually pretty accurate. I don't think this even deserves 1 star. Anyway, I made the appt on the website with Greg S since he's the only guy barber available. I thought male barbers cut hair better than female barbers. I am 1,001% wrong. I told Greg to just do a clean cut, to not make it any complicated, easy, as I didn't want to give him a hard time. After he chopped off my son's hair, it was a total mess. I didn't want to be rude to him to tell him that he probably doesn't belong in this field. The haircut he did to my son was horribly uneven and extremely ugly. I paid him $26 + $5 tip just to have my husband shave off my son's head when we got home because Greg's work was extremely unacceptable. read more

On Saturday evening I made an appointment with the barber I normally go to for Sunday morning at 11:30am. On my drive over to Floyd's I got a call from Floyd's around 11:10am. I wasn't able to answer since I was on a call. Ten minutes later I pull into the extremely small lot and bingo a spot opened up right out front. My phone rang again and it was Floyd's this time I was able to answer. They explained to me that my regular guy was out sick and they called to inform me. Since they open at 11am and they called me twice and people do get sick I really have no complaints about this. I think they handled this situation perfectly well. I proceed inside they told be the same thing and said they would get be in ASAP. I was 5 minutes early for my apportionment time so sitting around for a few was not unexpected. One of the ladies from the reception desk came over and gave me a coupon card for a free service due to the inconvenience. Not 3 minutes later I was sitting in a chair with an other barber. He was affable and charming. We enjoyed some light conversation and he went to work. I got a hair cut and a shave. The haircut went great we banter back and front, then I reclined for the shave. It was relaxing and a great way to pamper myself on Father's day. The results of the haircut and shave I was very happy with. I also picked up some product for the newdo and some tea tree shampoo. Definitely not great. I usually see Brandon who owns PennyJules Barbershop just down the road but homie is always booked up (happy for him and I'm lazy and forget to book early ha!). So I had to improvise and this is only the second time I have needed to come here. Silverlake is my usual Floyd's go to but has been closed for a few months now for some reason (no one seems to know why?). Let me explain why this Floyd's experience wasn't great: When I arrived (I will admit that I was about 6 minutes late) everyone seemed a bit in panic mode. Their internet had gone down apparently. No reason to panic though. I have worked in countless where this occurred and you just do what you can and keep moving forward. Anyway, I had booked an appt with Veronica because I have a very specific style I like and she NAILED IT the last time I came in. But that was completely ignored by whoever the woman working the front desk was and when she came and grabbed me from outside she just said, "Are you Jason?" I said yes but there was no, "Come on in Veronica is ready for you!" I was in a bit of a time crunch so I didn't question it (ALWAYS question everything, all). So I was sent over to Arias. Sweet person, great energy and we had a nice conversation but she didn't listen to my request or truly pay attention to my pictures. I asked for a Low blended, 1 on the low sides Undercut with about 1" off the top. With the same general length minus whatever length texturizing would take off. It was easy to see that from the pictures I showed. What I came out with was is high not low and almost zero on the sides. It is an undercut, but there is a hard line not a soft, blended one. And it is shorter in the back and doesn't taper to the center properly. The two stars is solely because of her bright personality. The service yesterday could have been WAY better and whoever was at the front desk needed to pay closer attention to the clients actual booked stylist. While we book because we know or have an idea that said stylist is the person we think they are it is up to the front desk to get it right 100% of the time, because that is literally part of their job. Maybe the shop was not expecting the rush of kids they got? Getting their back to school cuts I assume. That's no reason to have such a tense atmosphere. Anyway, I'll give them one more shot next time. For now, it'll be hat days for me for the next four weeks unless absolutely necessary :(. read more
