Doodle mixes are pretty high maintenance especially when it comes grooming. My daily brushing and conditioning could never fix my dog Oliver's matted fur. I finally went on Yelp, and found this place. Their website stated no new clients, but I decided to call and see if there was any openings. Low and behold it was that day they had a spot opened so I grabbed it immediately and I'm so glad to have a pet groomer close to where I live. Ivy the groomer not only did a fantastic job but I didn't even need to tell her what I wanted for Oliver, she just got it. The photo I posted is the second time I booked with them and this was on 1-28-23 and Oliver was in desperate need of a clean up. Not only did they take such care and detail, but they give you advice on how to maintain the fur in between grooming sessions. Now I bought a metal comb so the next time I bring him in, he wouldn't be in any agony from the matting because of their advice to comb him daily. Also Julie, who works the front is so sweet. She asked all these questions on how I wanted the cut specifically from the face, length and then the tail if I wanted it proportioned! Like what?!?! I've gone through many groomers from boutique pet stores in LA that serve Fiji water to each individual dog to doing it myself with some safety scissors. I've tried it all and everything in between but no one does it better than Ivy. My Shih Tzu has a long skinny body, huge paws, a small head and tiny beady eyes. Before finding Ivy, he'd come back from a cut with a face only his mother could love. My Shih Tzu also isn't well behaved - he hates water and hates having his paws touched. He barks at the blow dryer making every groomer his arch nemesis. Surprisingly, my dog loves Ivy. She is patient and gentle with him. She notices his quirky looks and grooms my fur baby with care to compliment his features. On walks along side our pure bred, champion-line, Husky, he usually he goes unnoticed, but after a grooming session with Ivy, my dog gets compliments and so much love. As a fur-mom, I'm overjoyed to see my fur baby getting much wanted attention. Ivy is the only groomer I trust that will cut my dogs hair the way I like. I've followed her from SF to her new shop in San Mateo. She is also an amazing artist that paints custom portraits of her clients. We adopted a rescue dog and he was quite stinky when we brought him home. I tried to wash him in our shower and it didn't go well. LOL We brought him to Fluff and Puff and explained he was very timid and shy and we weren't sure they would be able to wash him but they said it wouldn't be a problem. they brought him back and the groomer was AMAZING with him. It was like night and day. The dog was so relaxed and calm with the groomer. They even let us take a peek to see how well he was doing! He came out super clean and looked really happy and unfazed. I am saddened and concerned that I must write this review for a small business that we have given our patronage for years.  Fluff & Puff has provided a reliable service and process to ensure that quality remained high.  However, subsequent to the change in ownership, things have steadily declined.  They have lost key talented groomers who had a love for animals and a solid attention to detail.    Our most recent experience involved a groomer which was disinterested in understanding our requests and would not even review the detailed notes we have provided nor the pictures demonstrating these requests.  She seemed cold, rushed and lacked the kindness with our boy that we usually receive and expect.  However, since we have not worked with this groomer before, we thought we should be fair and give her a chance.   When we picked him up, we noticed that the verbal instructions, notes, and prior pictures were not considered.  His cut appears to be performed using the lowest setting on the clippers similar to shearing a sheep, with his face cut uneven where not sheared.  His nails were not properly cut.  They clipped select nails too short, which bled, and others were unclipped.  We also noticed a change in our dog's demeanor including excessive nervousness and even a strong tremble.  We have never seen this reaction from our little boy previously.   It is crystal clear when we subsequently looked at the most recent Yelp reviews that this owner/management is struggling with their services and that they need to re-examine hiring practices and quality control.  We hope they take this as a wake-up call.   We would like to give Fluff & Puff another chance.  However, we feel ownership MUST step up to fix underlying issues regarding the competence of the groomers and to re-implement procedures that ensure the quality of the grooming is maintained and that thoughtful care/love for the animals is a priority. Unfortunately in the meantime, we are forced to look for alternate providers to ensure that we receive quality service in a professional and pet-friendly environment.  It would be great if the owner/management takes immediate proactive actions and communicates to the broader dissatisfied customer base regarding these changes. read more

Extremely disappointed with the ownership change. I've been coming here for almost 8 years, for several of those years with two dogs, about once every 4-8 weeks. Since the ownership change I've at least twice I've asked for a specific groomer, and asked specifically NOT for a certain groomer and have gotten the person I specifically didn't want. She does not do a good job, she shaved into my dogs nose between his eyes last time. When I asked why she would shave there, the response was "it was dirty". But also why does she keep touching my dog when I specifically say I don't want her? I've had issues with strong smelling fragrance that no one could tell me what it was or where it came from. Fine, I'll bring in my own shampoo. Fine. I'll request a groomer the only day the other groomer isn't working. Fine. I had a very lengthy conversation with my partner last visit cus I couldn't understand why I kept getting the groomer I specifically asked not to have, and how this new owner seems to have some serious adjustment issues but I also didn't wanna stress out my dog finding a new place. But, today sealed it. Today I called in to make an appointment and the person on the phone informed me they only had three groomers working right now. I said oh? He said they had to let some go. Because of covid they weren't doing their jobs. I asked, what does that have to do with covid? He said "they were coming in late or leaving early. They're supposed to be here grooming dogs." Not only has service quality dropped now you have a company telling their patrons that they fired people during covid cus of how their employees were dealing with covid. YIKES read more

We dropped our dog off and was so disappointed with his cut. First, we asked for a teddy bear face and definitely did not get that cut. Second, they shaved my goldendoodle all the way! He looks awful. We did not ask for this cut. I'm shocked bc I used to take my other dog here years ago and they were great. But they did not do a great job for our new fur baby. I understand there were some mats. Our normal groomer has no problem using a conditioner to get them out. We were visiting family which is why we came here. So upset. I have a husky who is very nervous whenever he's taken in anywhere. His regular vet even makes an exception and has me stay in the room during appointments to help keep him calmer. But the groomers here work their magic and every time he comes out looking so white and pretty, and with his nails and paw fur trimmed, when he HATES you touching his paws! Update: Super late update. After my initial review, the manager, Julie, returned my message. I brought my dog back to have the patchy spots fixed. She assisted the groomer, as she knows my dog's temperament well. I saw immediate improvement. And within 2-3 weeks, her fur started filling back in. To be honest, the short cut grew on me and it helped with the shedding. We also had family comment on how the short cut looks better and cleaner. But for 2-3 weeks I could not take her out looking the way she did. Julie has always been great with my dog. She's friendly, gentle, and accommodating. And for that I would give another star. But after reading other similar reviews, I don't think I'll be bringing her back until they find quality groomers. I can't rely on Julie to be there for every session. read more

This place killed my dog. She went in for a bath and left with asphyxiation (suffocation) and fluid in the lungs. We took her to an ER vet where we spent over 10k to try and reverse the damage. We had to say goodbye to her three days later. I'm not sure who is bathing the dogs but he/she is not trained or has little to no common sense. When a dog can't breathe, you don't keep going. I wish it was possible to have more options on length of hair as the longest option is too long and the second longest length is too short to my liking but this was clearly explained to me when I dropped off Kobe and I appreciated the clear communication so I knew what to expect. Thank you Barbara and Kat! Chizu gave my Pomeranian the best cut ever! He came out round and cute as a cotton ball! We loved it and can't wait to return!! Horrible service and horrible haircut! Tried to work with the owner Sylvia but she defends her groomer and says she did a good job. When they had the Japanese groomer a few years ago the haircuts were great but they gone and it all sucks!! Look at the pictures!! They butchered my poor baby! They scalped her chin and didn't even put or shape anything. It's all uneven. For $80!!! You except them to come out at least with an even hair cut. Instead it's all different lengths and bald in some spots. They offered to a 7 day window to get it trimmed, seriously what's left to trim. Awesome, awesome people. My dog has only ever been groomed once in his life (before this place) and the reason for it is because it's hard to find someone who can work with his fur. He's a Pomeranian mix so his fur doesn't grow out, instead it falls down and just drapes there. Any wrong cut and my dog could look like a mess.. but then again isn't that true for every animal in the world? I did some Yelping before I finally settled on this place. I emailed them for information and was happy that they actually reply quite fast. They do require that your dog has gotten all its shots first and when I realized that my dog was missing his bordetella shot, I emailed them asking where it was possible to get one. They replied saying that there was a mobile vet that comes in every Sunday at the Pet Club nearby. Well, gosh darn it that was easy! Took my dog here on a Sunday and went to the groomers the Friday following. The groomer I spoke to (sorry, didn't get her name) was very friendly and offered suggestions on what to do with my Baby's fur because I didn't want it to be too short. She seemed to know what she was doing so I left my dog with her. The girl working the counter said it might be up to 3 hours since my dog was new there but to my surprise it really only took about an hour and a half. My Baby looked so handsome especially with the bandana they gave him! And he smelled heavenly. My family even said that he looks younger with his new cut so I'm happy to announce that this place could be it for my dog. Take your dog here, you won't regret it! They know what they're doing and they also sell really cute treats which I'll probably end up buying next time because I can't stop spoiling my dog. One star only because my dog is clean. I brought my giant bernedoodle here for a wash and trim around the face. I specifically said to not touch the tail. The lady even clarified and wrote it on the instructions to not trim or touch the tail. I picked up my dog and her beautiful long, full, flowing Bernese tail with a white tip, was completely shaved off. She looks insanely ridiculous, but it will also take over a year or two to even grow back. Would not recommend this place. read more

The level of incompetence and arrogance is just breathtaking, I would give a zero if I could. We took our two Pomeranians to be washed and groomed here. I'm going to skip over the rudeness for now and focus directly on the fact that they shaved my Pomeranian down to a 1cm length. Anyone who has dealt with a Pomeranian should understand that they have a double coat and shaving it can permanently damage their coat, and poses health risks to the dog as their body temperature is regulated through their fur. The woman at the counter was unapologetic and generally seemed to lack that understanding. Secondly, they didn't even groom my other dog and didn't even call or text to notify me that they weren't going to. I would steer clear from here as they obviously do not have an understanding of dog breeds and have committed an act of animal cruelty even if inadvertent. read more

Our go-to groomer. My dogs have been going here since I adopted them in 2017, they go for grooming and (sometimes) day care and I have never had any issues with them. They always clean up my girls so nicely. They give you report cards on your dog's behavior and my dogs always go home with cute little scarves or bows in their ears. One of my dogs is prone to ear infections and every time she's been groomed there, her ears are always super clean! Julie, the head dog groomer extraordinaire, is what makes this place so amazing. She is so helpful and always willing to give her expertise to help you take care of your dog. The facilities are quite clean (which is a hard feat, I can imagine). Instead of trying to bathe my dog at home, I suggest using their self-serve washing stations if you want a quick and inexpensive yet clean dog. However, the professional grooming they give to each dog is way way way better than anything you can do on your own. Highly recommend switching it up between the professional vs self washings. First, and last time, taking my dog here. I brought him in for a nail clipping, and within 3 minutes of the kind young woman up front bringing him into the back, he reappeared with a muzzle around his neck, and was shaking. An older woman with an accent appeared, and said that he "peed and pooped all over" and that I would need to bring him to a vet to get his nails trimmed. No further explanation as to what the actual problem was, was given, and they simply offered us a refund. I find it hard to believe that frightened or nervous dogs haven't had this happen before, and this seems like an unacceptable reason as to why I would need to take him to a vet to get his nails trimmed. If my animal was biting or aggressive, I could at least understand that, but they just said you need to take him somewhere else. Unacceptable, and if you're going to send a first time customer out the door like that, at least give them an actual, valid reason. I took him there, because my girlfriend has been taking her dog there for years, and the reviews seemed contrary to my experience. Disappointed that we've now got to take the dogs to separate places, or find a new place for both of them to go. read more

This review is for Jane. Jane was so welcoming and sweet to us. It took roughly 3 hours to finish Leo's haircut but he looked amazing!! Jane exceeded our expectations and more. My dog Leo has really long fur but also different from other Pomeranians. His fur is thinner rather than being thick. We informed our groomer about what kind of haircut we were expecting and Jane was honest and told us Leo and the example picture have different hair but she said she would make it look as close as possible. She trimmed every part I wanted trimmed off and everything was very detailed. His butt area looked like a corgi butt and his paws were nicely groomed. I am very impressed with the outcome and I will for sure be taking my pup back every 3 months. It cost us $65 for his haircut + tip of course.
