We have been waiting for our drink for 30 minutes in total. Really disappointed with the bad service and the communication from this cafe. My family and I ordered 4 drinks, and was waiting by the counter observing each order to come out. We were excited to get our drink to begin our family day. We have checked in once for our drink and we were told that the drink was taken by other customers and they will re-make our drinks, which is fine, as I completely understand with the busy morning hour. We kept waiting for another 10 minutes and they haven't even start our drinks. We left and asked for refund and grabbed coffee somewhere else. read more

I was excited to visit again a year later and see that Fluid is still contributing to the Michigan City scene. Everything in my prior review is still true. The music today was a mix of 90s grunge, some Rolling Stones, and other beats. It's a fantastic place to grab a drink and settle in to a good book or meet a friend. Cute little café in the Uptown area! The vibe was very witch-crafty, emo, dark-death aesthetic--in the best way--which already hinted the food and drinks were going to slap. I got the Diana of the Dunes iced latte and it was really good. Smooth roast, and the lavender wasn't overpowering at all. Also tried a hot Voodoo coffee, and the flavors were just as tasty. For food, we ordered the Minor Threat and Parma Police--both were very good. The fresh tomatoes were a nice touch. The avocado spread itself didn't have much flavor, but it worked well in the sandwich overall. The hot honey chips on the side had a quick kick and were delicious. We had bagel sandwiches. One was the vampire slayer delicious and a bit unique with having Parmesan on a breakfast sandwich, but it really was very good. The other one was the minor threat. Also very tasty love how the jalapeño worked with the avocado lethal combination that I might be trying at home lol very good. Service was great. Everyone was very nice helpful and efficient. Could not say enough about the ambience the entire place is very cool. They have a bunch of stuff to offer like paintings merchandise that is unique and fun. I'm not sure if this is the right location, but the fluid coffee roaster at Indiana dunes national Park visitor center is absolutely worth a visit. Delicious coffee, and great service, perfect for sipping while walking on the beach. We got a bag of sand and steel blend for Home and it is just a phenomenal blend! Would recommend. This is a nice coffee shop with bagel sandwiches and other pastries. Obviously a new use for an old downtown building, it's clean and well (if somewhat electric) decorated. Such a cool, sleek and unique coffee shop with plenty of seating, good vibes, and baristas who are meticulously crafting delicious drinks. The wait was well worth it. Found it on Yelp and came here for the good reviews. Noticed right away how dark it was in here, kind of depressing to me. But they do offer outdoor seating which is nice. Ordered coffee, the keto bowl, and the Parma police sandwich. Two employees were here and the one was friendly and one was not. They made our coffee drink super quick and it was really good. The sandwiches though took another 30+ minutes to make and when they were finally ready, they didn't include bacon that we payed extra for on the sandwich and they put cheese on my eggs for the keto bowl (cheese isn't even listed on the menu) and I have a dairy allergy. Food was good when we got it. Seemed like they were very understaffed and couldn't keep up. So if you're not in a rush, or are just ordering coffee, this place might be great, but if you're in a hurry, don't order food here. read more

Fluid Coffee Roaster was such an enjoyable experience that I went twice during my trip (even though I usually avoid repeating coffee shops on short trips). My friend and I were in MC for a little weekend getaway and swung in Saturday afternoon for a pick me up. The barista was super friendly and when he told me the Chai was the best he'd had within a 2 hour drive, I had to try it. I wasn't sure how honest he was being but my dirty iced chai was beautifully spiced and not overly sweet like a lot of Chai lattes. The My friend got the monthly special, Dial M for Murder (a cold brew with blueberry coldfoam) that was to DIE for. We opted to swing by in the morning before leaving so she coudl get her own Chai and I decided to get the Doncaster (an iced coffee with buttercotch and oatmilk) and was equally impressed with that. I wish the space had some more comfy chairs versus mostly tables, but space still feels welcoming and it looks like tehre are plenty of pastry and food options as well (wich we didn't try). LOVED THIS PLACE! The service was great & our orders were out promptly. There are items for sale in the shop with lots of art around the walls. This makes for a great breakfast place, to get some work done, or chat with friends. The drinks were so smooth and full of flavor and some great combinations. My sister's boyfriend said he had the best chai tea of his life here, so I had to try it I can't remember the name but it had chai tea, almond milk and chocolate. It was good, but I didn't agree that it was the best I've had. It was really creamy and sweet. It definitely had a hot chocolate vibe. They have tons of interesting drinks to try. I recently had cranial surgery, and a few weeks ago, two friends took me on a drive to see the beautiful changing trees in Indiana. We stopped in Michigan City and ended up at a coffee shop called Fluid. I was having a headache and forgot to bring something to take for it. I ordered a coffee drink with lavender syrup because that tends to help relieve my headache. The girl at the counter mentioned that they make their own syrups. The coffee helped relieve my headache. I asked another girl if it would be possible to buy some. She didn't think they could sell me some, but she gave me a "sample" cup size of the syrup to take home. (I tried to pay her, but she said it was a gift). A few days later, I wrote the company to thank her for her kindness. I did not know the girl's name, but they replied that it was Lily, and if I could come in, they would give me a bottle of the syrup. Unfortunately, I live an hour away, but I offered to pay them for the syrup and shipping if possible. Instead, they sent me the recipe, some lavender buds to make my own, two kinds of lavender teas, several pins, and stickers. I was overwhelmed by their kindness and wanted to send them a check, but when I called to inquire about the cost of the items and shipping, I was told it was strictly a gift. The time spent in their truly unique shop was peaceful and lovely. The coffee was definitely much, much better than that of the typical coffee shop. It is the kind of place where one can sit and visit without feeling rushed, and where someone might sit working on their laptop -- an actual coffee shop. And now I know that the people who own and run Fluid are the kind of people that America is about. During these difficult days, both politically and with my health. Great coffee. I went there after a bachelorette weekend on the way home. It was very busy. Staff was nice. Gluten free and vegan sweet options. They only have whole or oat milk which I found to be weird, but was fine with me. I got their sweet lemon coffee and it was fantastic. It tasted just like a lemon loaf. I was hesitant and thought it might be too acidic, but I would definitely get this again. I deducted a star because of the wait time and lack of milk options. We waited 25 minutes for 4 beverages. I don't discourage anyone from stopping, just plan accordingly and be aware that you're not getting a low calorie latte here. read more
