We always visit the Flying biscuit every time we are in Athens! We love everything about it, the food, the atmosphere, and the staff.

NOTE TO SELF: DO NOT PICK FLYING BISCUIT! They do NOT have gluten free anything. Last visit, 9 months ago, I chose to eat gluten. I do that sometimes when I just can't decide but I pay for it for about a week. I don't try to do that anymore. lol I did notice many similarities so the sweet gluten must be what is good there. I consider all that processed sugar and the gluten filled garbage GMO flours to be horrible for our bodies. That happens as you learn how these foods actually affect your body and DIS-EASE! Now, I am weeding out the restaurants I will no longer eat at. If you don't care about the wellbeing of your customer's health, then you only care about $$$! I will no longer be eating at establishments that don't use quality ingredients and will focus more on Mom & Pop Locally owned places that do! These businesses need to do better so we aren't constantly sick and medicated beings! They have brainwashed us to eating garbage that other countries do not allow! The ONLY positive thing I can say is the hostess was on point! She was constantly working, bouncing around, handling things, completely pleasant with a smile on her face. She is the reason for 2* and not 1. She was the only 1! I'm only giving a description of her so she is recognized because I do not know her name. Cute dark skinned woman with her hair pulled back with a head band/wrap. She deserves a raise and employee of the month! Everyone else seemed pissy or too concerned with whatever gossip they had to chat about. Waitress literally said, "They just consider it gluten friendly by taking the bread off". Not even grits or potatoes are listed as "GF". Manager came out to explain why grits weren't GF. Idk why they try to appear "healthy". They offer alternatives to pork, but that's about it. Manager said the grits company doesn't claim to be GF so therefore they don't. Well, if the company isn't claiming it, they are most likely using the cheapest of the cheap GMO'd corn! Obviously, just my opinion, but I'm so tired of these restaurants charging so much for garbage food. Waitress is extremely pleasant! lol That is sarcasm for anyone not tracking. Brought the hubs unsweet tea when he ordered sweet! Lol Asked if we were ready to order 3x in less than 5 min while our heads were still down staring at the menus. Then, when we were ready, she was taking money for a guy at the bar, serving another table a beverage, and serving another table their food, while 3 other employees stood around a cleaning station chatting. An elderly gentleman and his caregiver came in but the hostess was outside for some reason. He sat himself at a dirty table. They ignored him until he started waving his arm at staff. I saw the interaction prior. 1 employee saw what he had done and told the others but they ignored the dirty table and the people until he got agitated. Then, they moved him to the table behind him, that they did clean while he was sitting there waiting to be acknowledged. We needed a quick bite in between Dr appts. I wish we had driven a bit further rather than coming here. I'm not hopeful for the cheese grits with turkey bacon I selected because nothing else was appealing and wouldn't destroy my stomach. Guess I'll deal with inflammation today from the gmo corn. The hubs got an egg and cheese biscuit. She didn't ask him how he wanted his eggs cooked or what kind of cheese. It's a mystery what he will get lol. Yes! I am writing this while sitting here! lol It's been 10+ minutes since the old man moved tables and the table he sat at is STILL dirty with dishes. Waitress just came to inform us, after waiting 20 minutes already, that they put pork bacon in my grits so it's going to be a few more minutes. I'm confused??? Why is my husband's food not being brought out? That means his is sitting back there waiting on my GRITS! Come on! 5 more minutes and the results???? Absolutely the most disgusting thing I've ever seen brought out. Check out the picture! lol what on earth is that even? Tasted like generic cheese soup dumped on top of a tiny bowl of semi good grits with half a slice of bacon cut up in it. They called that "Loaded" grits. Lol It was disgusting and those grits are NOT creamy or dreamy! They are so cheap they don't even get the GF tag. lol The hubs biscuit was horribly dry, so little egg you couldn't see it, and the "moon dusted" potatoes tasted like yesterday's home fries, with no dusting or even salt. Quite literally the worst food and service I have seen in a long time! Watched 2 servers NOT sit a family with a girl on crutches, waiting for the hostess to finish dealing with a to-go order. It was like no one helps anyone in there and the customer is last on the priority list! read more

We visited here on a Thursday morning and had a small wait. The place was packed as there was only inside seating due to the rain outside. Our server was so kind as this was our first time here. She gave us lots of info as there were many options on the menu. All our food was so tasty. The biscuits were some of the best I've ever had; light, fluffy and fresh! Add some gravy and that meal was so delicious!! The hangover breakfast was so perfect and so much food that it was almost impossible to finish. The hot honey butter chicken n waffles spice was perfectly absorbed into the chicken tenders, each bite was absolutely flavorful. With all these wonderful breakfast choices, it was hard for the basic egg and sausage breakfast to score the same points, but the biscuit and grits that come with each plate really elevated this meal. If we drive through Athens again, this will definitely be a must stop location. read more

So I had seen a few of these and decided to stop in they talk a huge game about their biscuits and even named the restaurant after their fluffy, airy, wonderful biscuits. Curiously I ordered the flying biscuit breakfast, 1 biscuit, 2 eggs, sausage, and creamy dreamy grits. Now being from the south I know a Pillsbury frozen biscuit when I see and taste one, these are 10000% frozen biscuits.... Forgivable in most situations but when they're hyped up this much it was a let down, dense and frozen tasting. Eggs were cooked perfect, the sausage might as well been beef jerky. Not sure how you make breakfast sausage tough like a bad sirloin but they managed. The grits....... As I was writing this review I came across my own brother's review earlier this year, in which he accused Flying Biscuit of "suffering from a sense of self-importance" for a comparatively low "price-to-taste-ratio" (whatever that means). After coming here five months later, I can assure readers that either 1) he got the priciest thing on the menu or 2) Flying Biscuit lowered their prices. Flying Biscuit's prices were on par with J-Christophers or Big City Bread Company, but were leaps and bounds ahead in both quantity and quality. The French Toast my boyfriend got was genuinely some of (if not the) best French Toast I've ever had in Athens, while my pancake tacos were a delightful and exceptionally tasty spin on a traditional pancake and eggs breakfast. The interior was cute, the service was prompt, and the food tasted great. No doubt, Flying Biscuit Athens excels in the "price-to-taste-ratio." read more

Stopped in on our way back to Atlanta. There was a wait, but it was Sunday morning after a game. Place is small, but the staff seem to move the breakfast crowd along. Food came out hot and tasted great. There are a few in different states, so next time traveling will have look them up to try other menu items. read more

The mini shrimp and grits are AMAZING! It was the right portion, extremely flavorful, and came out nice and hot. The price is very reasonable for the recipe along with a biscuit. I also ordered decaf coffee and they made it easy to distinguish between it and regular by using a different colored mug. This is great service because I can't have too much caffeine. I came on a Saturday and ordered their honey chicken and waffles with a side of avocado toast. The waffles and chicken were good, the chicken was a little chewy but that's if i'm being nitpicky. The avacado toast was good as well and was served on rye bread. If you're not a fan of tomatoes I wouldn't recommend the avacado toast. I came with my boyfriend and we both ordered a main and a side dish and our bill was barely $30 so the pricing is really nice as well! My food came out quick and the service was nice! Flying Biscuit Cafe will be a Georgia classic wherever you go, but this one has a little extra charm with their vaulted ceilings and Prince Ave location. That being said, it'd seem the entire Flying Biscuit operation has begun to suffer from a sense of over-importance. While their food remains great (Their french toast was particularly awesome) my price tag for a basic entree wound up being $15.50 after tax. Flying biscuit's schtick is classic southern breakfast that tastes about the same as Dennis or iHop-- with way better vibes and a personal feel. The price tag doesn't seem to reflect that, hence the 4-stars instead of 5. If I'm going to spend that much I'd rather stick with a local joint like Mama's boy, The Grit, or Big City Bread Co. Other than price-to-taste-ratio though, amazing as always! If you live in Athens I'd highly recommend you check this franchise out at least once. read more

The biscuit was light and airy not dense and gummy like some places. Very tasty biscuit for less than $5. The staff were friendly and attentive. I didn't have to wait long for my order. We've been twice now, I don't review after having only been a place 1 time, so here goes. The amount of food you get for the price is not unreasonable...2 people could eat off of one plate and leave feeling content not stuffed. Both times I've been the food has been very tasty and hot. I had the pancake tacos, you can get two different meats if you want. The staff has been sooo friendly each time, they actually take the time to listen to my husbands stories, they can be long, haha; He's a social butterfly. My only complaint, it could just be a me thing bc I don't like a lot of salt, their potatoes have too much seasoning. We will be back for a third time! read more

The vibes were giving Sunday morning , refreshing and indulging. The concept of the restaurant was very cute and summery. I got the GA peaches and cream waffle breakfast and it was so so tasty. It came with creamy grits (I'm usually not the biggest fan of grits, but these were really tasty I TOTALLY recommend), a fluffy biscuit, potato wedges, 2 eggs (done however you like), and the yummiest waffle topped with Georgia peaches and whipped cream! Drooling just thinking about this meal. My friend ordered the Hollywood omlette and the tomato coulis they put on top is absolutely delicious. Her meal was also very tasty, but came with much less. She replaced the grits for 2 impossible sausages and also got a biscuit. The price was definitely fair for the amount you get! They gave really big portions and I ended up having leftovers. Stopped by for breakfast yesterday because I was excited to have a local FB. It was a Wednesday morning so no crowd at all. The food was terrible. My entire meal was lukewarm, like it had been sitting and then plated and served. Biscuits were so cold, butter didn't even melt. Potatoes were ice cold and my chicken sausage was lukewarm. My sister asked for crispy bacon, it was just regular bacon not cooked hard and her grits were okay. Just missing the basics, maybe it's the pandemic and not wanting to be wasteful, but had to request cream for our coffee and butter for our biscuits. When the food is already cold, waiting on them to bring back basics doesn't help. The server was nice, food came out quick but the product was terrible! Not worth the $30 we spent. Very crowded but the wait staff was friendly and attentive. Food came out timely and it was really delicious. I got the Dirty Bird and friend got the Classic Benedict. Both were good. The sausage gravy had lots of chunks of sausage, the waffle was buttery and the chicken tenders were crispy. I forgot my to go box on the table and they tossed it out before I came back to get it.
