As busy as it was someone always checked to see if we needed anything. The Flying Boat is an excellent tap room with a nice FL-based beer list, an extensive, intriguing menu and great service too. Coming from the south, it's located off Hwy 301 about 12 miles North of Hwy 466. We visited on 11/13/22 and enjoyed 4 different beers along with two appetizers: the grilled octopus and brie in puff pastry. Our server, Kevin, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the various offerings. Good beer is a bit scarce in central Florida, but this venue is highly recommended when you get tired of the same old Pabst/Miller/Bud options elsewhere. read more

They have a large selection of local beers and a good selection of wines. The food menu is very diverse with tapas, sandwiches and pizzas. The tapa plates are actually pretty large and filled with quality ingredients. Their barbecue is made on site and very tasty. Love this place! First time visiting and will be back often! Food was on another level. This isn't just a tap house. The food is amazing. Though the menu extensive so didn't have everything. Definitely get the bao buns. We had both the pork and the shrimp. Best I've had. The "Chicken of the Sea " which is Ahi tuna was wonderful. So many items we wanted and will be back to try. All of the dishes looked good at other tables and we look forward to trying the pizza. Beer was good as well. Atmosphere had a good energy and as the evening went on it was very busy. I was intrigued by the extensive menu, though I had my reservations. What the heck, Tutu Tango down in Orlando pulls it off (though they have two full kitchens to accomplish the feat). Maybe these guys figured out how to be great at lots of different things. Yeah, nah. I have a suspicion that their real calling card is the brisket. I say that because they were out of brisket by 5:15 on a Friday night, which means either it's really popular or they're really bad at building to the rush, and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. We picked out five different items from the tapas menu, and they ranged from mediocre (the garlic-truffle-oil tots) to downright inedible (the chorizo "dip" which consisted of nothing but a mini-skillet full of cooked Mexican chorizo with a few crumbles of goat cheese on top). 28 taps is impressive, no doubt, and it's all local Florida breweries. Great news if you're a fan of pale ales, sours, and ciders, because 24 of the 28 menu options fell under one of those categories. The other four? Two milk stouts and two imperials. I settled on a milk stout, which was decent, if completely lacking any kind of flavor profile, while my wife went for the pineapple cider. Both my wife and I love the "taps and tapas" concept. We both agreed this was not the way we'd do it if we were running one (and with 35 years of experience in the industry between us, it's not like we're talking out of our butts here) - Flying Boat needs to strip this menu down to maybe 20-30 items and really make those options sing. Right now it's a ton of mediocre bar food that didn't leave us feeling like we got value out of the $120 tab. read more

Passed this place on 58th Avenue times I cannot count. From the road it appears to be some kind of repair business. Once inside it's pretty charming with seaplane paraphernalia. Atmosphere and service was very enjoyable and clean. Menu items are just a little pricey but as fun as the atmosphere. Not a fan of their pizza because the crust was like something you and your kids put together for a fun afternoon. The item they call a Bao is actually a steamed bread that looks like the fold over used and presented with Peking Duck. A Bao is actually a steamed or baked bun with pork ( char siu) or chicken (Gai Bao). The beer selection is excellent with lots of fun names for micro brews. Over all, it was a fun relaxing dining experience that should be tried at least once. I'll be returning for sure to try other menu items. read more

(Thank you, Yelp) My brother ordered a giant pretzel for an appetizer. I love soft pretzels, but it seems like filler to me. This pretzel was perfect! Served w pepper jack queso. My lunch-mates ordered a chimichuri rice bowl and blackened shrimp tacos. I ordered bao bun and Jam Rock appetizers. Rice bowl was perfectly seasoned w a generous portion of tender beef brisket. Shrimp tacos also had a generous portion of tender shrimp w a nice heat. Served w choice of side - we got pasta salad - again, a nice surprise that it had a lot of good seasoning. Jam rock was super creative shaved smoked prime rib on top of a puff pastry served w Jam. So good! Lastly, the bao buns were fricking amazing!! 3 on a plate w pickled onions, chopped apple slaw and Sriracha. I don't know what kind of voodoo magic they did, but these things were Heaven on earth. Our server was great- she answeall of our questions, offered samples of beer when I couldn't decide, and she was prompt w the tea refills. My husband and I stopped in a couple weeks ago for mid day drinks and pizza, and they did not disappoint! The beer selection is vast and our server was so kind to let us sample a few before picking one out. We had the Bao Buns and Pizza, both were fresh, tasty and something different! We loved the multiple kinds of pizza there was to choose from. Made it difficult to make a decision but it was so good! There isn't a huge menu here, but what they do offer seems to be perfected. I am happy to see that others have positive reviews of this place. That means there's hope. I ordered a margarita pizza and when I received it, the cheese was barely melted and there was NO Basil which of course is a MAIN ingredient for this particular pizza. The server took it back after I shared with her that it was not warm and there was no basil on it. 5 minutes later another person brought out a fresh warm pizza, NO BASIL! My server told me after the 2nd pizza came that they were out of basil.....then how may I ask can this restaurant serve an entrée missing one of the main ingredients...she brought me some lettuce to put on it.....worst pizza I've ever had..... if she gets the opportunity to read this, she knows!! The food here is always above par and if dining outside the ambiance is a delight.....we've not eaten inside yet, The pizza is superb as well as the shrimp dish. This is a great hangout with friends for good food and great choices of beer. I too, however, am very put-off when given a bill with suggested tips on it.
