Another visit to our favorite hidden gem. Crusty flaky croissants. Expertly prepared eggs. Fresh ingredients all the way around. It always amazes me that this place isn't packed. Shhhhh. Let's just keep it our little secret.

It's been awhile since last we flew with Jerome. Quite frankly it'll be the last time we do too, especially since "Jérôme lui-même" flew the coop! The French, meanwhile, call French toast "pain perdù," or lost bread. That's the perfect metaphor for the service and the sad excuse of a panini sandwich we decided to split: totally lost! First: a whole crew of new faces in there aside from Jerome's wife/sister/whatever she is. Another French man along with at least three other people running around performing table service by committee. None of 'em seemed to have a grasp of what they're doing either! Perdù! One of 'em was a young Hispanic fellow who had nary a clue as to the finer points of service. He comes along to tak our order: two cups of French onion soup and their "ciabatta bread sandwich," split between the two of us (ie extra plate). Then he asks if we want any pastries or dessert items. Did I ask for any? No... Meantime as the table of four next to us was getting their food, the order was totally messed up and didn't even come close to making it outta the kitchen together. When the stuff finally came out, our dear fellow just hands it off directly to the customers and then directly hands him a fork. The rest of the committee just runs around the table a few different times with much the same inept service gaffes. Tres perdù! So another of the committee walks by and refills our water. We casually ask where our soup is. It had been nearly 15 minutes, and per usual soup normally would come out first. So maybe five minutes AFTER she said she'd check, out comes our boy with said pôtage. He doesn't say a single word and just plops 'em down on the table...no presentation, no nothing. Off he went. Well, the soup is nowhere near as delicious as it used to be. Broth was weaker and nowhere near as earthily rich as it normally is. It even had a slightly astringent taste to it. Not bad, but nowhere near how Jerome usually makes/made it. Tant perdù! Last straw was the so called ciabatta sandwich, which came along a few minutes later. Fresh mutz, prosciutto pesto, and sliced tomato pressed on a ciabatta roll. $11.95 for one lousy slice of prosciutto and two bland slices of tomato with some bland, blah, nondescript mozzarella?! There was not even a hint of pesto on the sorry excuse for bread either. I got no basil flavor whatsoever! When I looked at the bread itself, I saw not even ANY green whatever. Pesto is green, of course. Apparently the sandwich maker is kinda in the green side too if he can't read the damn menu! Beyond that, the ciabatta roll itself was doughy, soft, nearly stale and not a bit of crusty crunch! The sandwich as a whole not well pressed or put together very well at all. The roll smelled of whatever oil they coat the press with too. Quite frankly, I felt cheated to put it quite politely. Accompaniment of their homemade shoestring fries was at least good. Did I mention that the sandwich was brought out by the French guy? We also had to ask him for the second plate THREE times before he understood what we meant (and twice for ketchup). Remember we were splitting the sandwich?! Apparently that bit of information got "perdù aussi," i.e. lost as well. Quite frankly our dear garçon "non-Jérôme" should be "honteux de lui-même" (ashamed of himself) for putting out and allowing that level of food as well as service. If he needs the extra help these days, then perhaps he should find someone who knows "qu'est-ce qu'ils foutent," or WTF they're doing. One other oddball gaff is the fact that two painters were replastering and repainting the entrance overhang of non-Jerome's "petit cafe/pâtisserie." Drop cloths, scaffold, rollers and assorted crap jostling with people trying to get in, or better yet: out! Whose bonehead idea was it to do that during brunch hours on a Saturday?! If that decision was made by "non-Jèrôme," then I'd say the new boss is the most "perdù" of 'em all. If you really think this place is worthwhile anymore, then that's fine. However after all those gaffes and the lesser quality of food, my own words of advice to anyone contemplating "flying with Jerome," or whoever the hell is running the place these days, is: "Tant pis!" For those here who don't understand French, that means "Never mind."

Crowded today, if it were a bar at around 1:30-2:00 am I'd think I hit the jackpot! Women outnumbering men about 12 to 1! Noisy, but I'd go home lucky for sure!

This restaurant is a new ownership, Chef/Chez David!! We love this French Bakery so much we went twice already. Everything is great! Almond croissants are yummy and crispy. All deserts looks good. I had a sandwich and it was excellent! Chibata bread is just right. My husband had a crepe with real French flies. Very highly recommend.

What a treat without have to travel outside of Clearwater to enjoy delicious pastries and french food when dining at Flying with Jerome!! Flying with Jerome serving breakfast, brunch and light lunch selections; pastries and cakes can be order for dine in or take out. My friends and I have visited the cafe multiple times - the staff and quality of food and drinks are on point. My favorites are the egg Benedicts, hot chocolate, all the sweets #DessertFirst! The business is usually open very early until 2pm with one or two days off during the week, recommend to check business hours before heading to the French cafe. Bon appétit :)

I just moved to the area and was looking for an authentic patisserie. Background: my family used to own bakeries, and I'm very opinionated and picky...and most bakeries serve garbage. I've ordered here three times and LOVE IT! Then I read the other reviews and saw that the recipes are from the former owner and he has a new place. I drove to Jerome's new place twice, and ordered 5 pastries at each location to compare. All of the recipes are Jerome's at both places, and they are mostly excellent. It takes so much work to run a bakery and both locations are great...we are lucky to have them in our town. That being said, the vanilla eclair and especially the apple tart that you'll find here were significantly better in taste and presentation than anything I tried over there. I can't speak to the full menu, but the pastries are really wonderful here and I have to resist going daily. Sometimes I lose the fight.

Stopped in for some breakfast sandwhiches... and they didn't disappoint! Food: Large portion breakfast croissants that run about $7-$10. We also had the quiche which was $8.50 and tasty but not overwhelming. Menu is rather limited compared to other breakfast stops but enough for everyone to find something. Omelettes are around $10-$12. Drinks: Coffee/Espresso/Latte drinks are around $3-$4. Service: Friendly and busy on weekend mornings. Ambiance: The seating area is small and can get crowded. Take Out: They have a pastry display case with baked breakfast selections and desserts. Parking: Plenty! It's in a small strip mall with a bar, another restaurant, a convenience store and some other miscellaneous. Overall: Good place to try and food was good. I'd like to try the omelettes next time to give a better review of the menu. It was good, just not outstanding.

Hidden gem. Jerome is a one man band. He makes everything from the amazing pastries to the killer breakfasts. The staff is a pleasure to be served by. Couldn't be nicer. Only thing about Jerome's I would change is moving it closer to my house. A must try spot. Trust me. Put this place on your short list.

Still five stars worthy and I've eaten more of the menu. I now drive thirty minutes to get here and I do so lovingly, because it is that good. Here are a couple menu items I have tried since my original visit. TL:DR - get some sort of croissant and the homemade french fries! Almond croissant - I get this every time. It is monstrous and sweet. This is more of a gooey croissant than a flakey one. Make sure you ask them to heat it for you, because it makes it infinitely better and I learned they don't automatically do this. Chocolate croissant - I liked the almond croissant better, but my sister liked this one better. It is a flakier croissant and the chocolate has an almost nutella like quality to it in terms of texture. Croissant french toast - it will give me diabetes, but I love it. One of my favorite things on the menu. Quiche - When you feel carbed out, the quiche helps balance this out. I had one with goat cheese and it was superb. The french fries are made in house so make sure you get them! Smoked salmon and brie omelet - Same idea with the quiche, when you start feeling like you're on a carb overload, this is a good balance. They add a good amount of smoked salmon and brie in it. Tropezienne - The only thing I've ever disliked here. The brioche bread tasted stale. I will definitely avoid this from here on out. I wish I lived closer but then I would weigh ten pounds heavier. I guess it is a trade off.

Who would've expected a cute little French cafe in the middle of a strip mall. Well... This girl, but only because of all the other yelp reviews. Came for breakfast on a weekday-- I had never been before, but my sister had and told me just how delicious it was. So we made the trek and to her surprise, the restaurant was completely packed! We took the last table available, which always makes you feel like a champ. We started with the almond and chocolate croissant. The almond croissant was obviously made with almond paste/meal which is always nice, but it honestly wasn't my favorite. It was a little too sweet and while the paste makes it dense, it didn't have at least a little bit of flaking on the top that I would expect. However, the chocolate croissant was pretty good! Food-wise, I continued on the trend of croissants, getting the egg croissant sandwich with smoked salmon. It. Was. So. Good. The egg was cooked to perfection-- a little runny so that when you bit in the yolk oozed. The croissant was flaky and delicious, and who ever doesn't love smoked salmon? For first-time visitors, I highly recommend-- then you get to try both the pastry and get a sense of the cooking. Service was fast and friendly-- I ordered a coffee and was constantly getting it refilled. At the end of the meal, I was stuffed and satisfied. A little bit of Paris in Clearwater-- truer words have not been spoken.

So we came here based off a recommendation from a friend, but didn't know that the ownership had changed (it is actually now called Chez David). The friend claimed it was one of the best omelettes they ever had, so my husband ordered the four cheese omelette, which I believe is the one they said they ordered, and I ordered the croque madame. The omelette honestly was just really sad and subpar. It was something I could have made at home, and my omelette making skills aren't particularly refined. It was basically just egg folded over some cheese which wasn't even completely melted. The croque madame was better, but the bread was soggy. The side salads that came with the dishes were not fresh at all. I also ordered a plain croissant to see how it was since people have claimed it's the "best croissant they've had" and it really was not impressive at all. They also charged us 50 cents each for 2 butter pats that I asked for because we got toast with the omelette!! What kind of place charges you for butter?! It wasn't even fresh butter, it was the prepackaged kind that you get at DINERS. I was shocked at this and honestly that in itself is probably going to prevent me from ever going back here again. The only thing that is saving this from one star is the pear tart I got to go, which was decent, but honestly not even the best I've had. It's kind of sad that this place is supposed to be an authentic French experience but it comes nowhere close (and I lived in France for 8 months).

The food at this place was delicious! I had the French onion soup and the Punta Cana salad. The portions were perfect as well as the flavor. Jerome even came by to check on us during our lunch outing. Everyone in my group was very impressed. I'm having a chocolate eclaire now that I got after the meal. It's sooo good!!! This is my new favorite restaurant in the Clearwater/St. Petersburg area. I'll definitely be back there soon. read more

What an excellent little spot! Stopped by here on the way to the beach, the staff was so pleasant, food was perfect, best crepes I have ever had, also came out extremely quickly. Do yourself a favor. Our first visit confirmed all the wonderful things we'd been told about the food and coffees. Nice juice selection too. Three different breakfasts, equally wonderful. Croissant French toast lives up to its billing. Service was friendly and helpful. That said, guests in booths were not socially distanced. No outside seating was available, but the restaurant was not filled to capacity, and we were able to sit at a table. Staff was unmasked, so we probably will feel safer waiting for a while to return. But then we will return. read more

Perhaps one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Our group tried a little of everything. The beef bourginon was superb. Meat fell apart so tender and the flavor of the wine was present but not overwhelming. Had it served with Au Gratin potatoes and they were delicious. We also had the duck, which was served with expertly cooked vegetables and a nice honey rosemary sauce. Another of us also got the Carbo Pasta. Now this was supremely rich and delicious, everyone just had to keep eating more from it because it was so delicious. As far as non-red sauces go, it's the best pasta I've ever tasted. Now for dessert. They prepare a beautiful variety of pastries daily, and you can tell they are not only made from scratch, but also with the most fresh and high quality ingredients. They are all delicious and bursting with fresh flavors, especially the fruit ones. I'll be coming back here again and again. And oh by the way, such a lovely and delicious meal won't cost you as much as you think it would! Very reasonable. read more

I like this place for lunch. It is very good. We went there for dinner food was just OK. Escargot very good. The duck had a lot of fat. I mentioned it to the chef and he said duck has fat. Hmm OK I had duck and it was more fat than duck. We will not be back for dinner we had appetizers wine and entree and it was $60. We will go back for lunch the place is clean comfortable and the food was awesome for lunch read more

What a Bumpy Flight I love a French bakery--just not this one. I went for Saturday breakfast. The restaurant's location in a rather crummy strip plaza and the bunch of signs taped on the door with various instructions and warnings wasn't a welcoming start. Of course, inside is what should matter. The staff was pleasant, the menu was extensive and several items in the bakery case were inviting. I'm a sucker for an almond croissant so I started with one of those warmed up. It looked like a pile of batter that somehow melted all over the plate. And the bottom section was a soggy mess. What a shame. I moved on to the French toast, another favorite. It looked nice with a decent side of fruit. Unfortunately, the French toast itself was surprisingly flavorless. I should have been able to detect at least a little bit of vanilla, cinnamon or nutmeg. Instead it was just bland. Maybe Jerome should come down to earth and get the basics right before another take-off. read more

This is an amazing local spot. Definitely French. The food is absolutely perfect. I had the Salmon and Brie omelette with a side of fries. The eggs for the omelette were the lightest I've ever had and the combination of the creamy, salty brie complemented the Salmon far more than I would have assumed. Also had to share some of the crepes my companions had. Again, perfect! Light, perfectly cooked and folded with sugar. More than you would expect for it's location. Get here now and support this local business. This is the type of establishment that remains "under the radar" and people fail to realize how great they are. This is one of those places we need to support and keep in business! read more

While chatting with the lady friend, she brought up a good point about rating places. 4 stars should be a place that you would definitely go back and 5 stars should be a place that you can't wait to go back. So taking into account her sound advice, I'm giving this place 3 stars. The staff was friendly and food came out fast, but it wasn't anything special. I had the ham and swiss breakfast crepes with 2 fried eggs. It was good and came out hot, but I feel like you can't really mess up eggs. The french fries served were of the shoestring variety (which I don't care for) and a bit greasy, though again, hot. The lady had the eggs benedict, which came with a couple of odd sides (at least to me), mashed potatoes and salad. The eggs benedict was pretty good, but definitely could have used some spice and/or flavor. And I'm not so sure about being accompanied by "salad" which was made up of romaine lettuce and italian dressing. After seeing a bunch of very good looking desserts in the display case, we decided that we had to try some, so we split the flan with peach topping. It was kind of odd that the flan was served chilled. Every other time I have ordered flan, it came out warm. With it being chilled, it was very firm and the peach topping was a bit congealed. Just a bit weird to me, not to mention that it wasn't overly tasty. Maybe the other dessert options are better and we just chose wrong... We only had the brunch options available on a late Saturday morning/afternoon, so perhaps the lunch options are available. In any case, during my visit, I wasn't too impressed. read more

Have been to this cute little restaurant several times and yesterday experienced my first "flat omelet"! Had never heard of one before but it was super delicious with the fresh spinach, swiss and tomatoes. The menu is quite extensive ... with everything sounding so good ... it was hard to even make a decision on what to eat. I was not disappointed in my choice and would order again for sure. All of the beautiful desserts in the display case looked tasty and if I was headed back home rather than doing some shopping, would certainly have picked one for sure. Just relolcated to Clearwater and have been to FWJ several times. Every meal has been excellent. Eggs benedict superb for breakfast and scallops outstanding for dinner. Coconut tart is off the charts great. read more

Excellent food. Don't usually comment on restaurants, but the French cuisine is so worthwhile, even if you just stop in for a pastry and coffee. Has outdoor Seating during good weather, but indoor has booths and tables. Had the tropiene pastry several times and the croquet sandwich and the mushroom and goat cheese quiche twice. His cream of broccoli soup was fresh and all his foods are freshly made. Attended his pastry class and it was fully attended. The service attendants were quick and knowledgable. Delicious French pastries and great place for a brunch or lunch. Brings me back to my days growing up in Cannes . Their Tarts are amazing! We always make sure to take some pastries home for later. I always order their croque monsieur with a salad and an order of French fries to share with the kiddos. Haven't had the pleasure to try the dinners yet but can't wait hopefully soon! read more

I had breakfast here with my mom because we are suckers for French food and French pastries. We had the French toast which was good but for the price the food portions were small and nothing spectacular. The French macaroons were not good at all. I Couldn't even taste a hint of almonds. I have been to many French restaurants and flying with Jerome's doesn't even compare to them!! read more

WHOA! Ah-Mazing! We made the trip up here for lunch today. I bookmarked this spot months ago and can't believe I waited this long to try it. It's a little family owned place. The food is amazingly fresh and you can taste the love and appreciation the chef has for food! The onion soup was delicious. I had the ciabatta bread sandwich with pesto, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, and tomatoes. The bread was the absolute star of this sandwich. It was made fresh that morning and had a buttery biscuit taste. It was so amazing! I'm thoroughly excited to go back and try more items! My only complaints are: it's fairly expensive. A sandwich (it came with the soup) and an iced tea was $14. I'd prefer the option to do half a sandwich and the soup or salad for cheaper. Plus. It was a lot of food. Lastly. It was warm in there. Probably from the ovens working overtime making all that delicious bread. Crank down that air Jerome! Don't miss this little gem. You will not be disappointed. read more

First time here and was very pleasantly surprised! I had the Caprese Croissant sandwich and the ingredients were so fresh and delicious. We couldn't resist the creme brûlée which was so perfectly made. The best I've ever had. We brought home several gorgeous looking pastries which we haven't tried yet but I'm sure they are just as delicious as everything else. Service was exceptional, especially for being a tiny diner-like atmosphere. I wish we lived closer but will definitely come here when in the area. read more

After visiting friends in Clearwater we were looking for a well reviewed breakfast place near by. Well add my 5 star review to bunches of others here! We were there during the Sunday brunch time and throughly enjoyed our meal. We loved the menu choices. My husband and I both chose the scrambled egg selection. The eggs were cooked perfectly served over some delicious flat bread, with a side of mushrooms saluted with tomatoes and I chose salmon and my husband got bacon. Even the coffee was delicious. The servers were sweet and attentive, the food was scrumptious and the atmosphere was charming. While my husband paid the bill at the counter I exchanged smiles with the 2 men in the kitchen while also drooling over the fantastic French pastries all prepared on site. We look forward to going back again and again. I can hardly wait to have dinner there some time too. Great place! read more

He's irrelevant to the story other than to say, at one point, he was about 50 feet away from us and couldn't say hello. Who doesn't say hello? Anyway, the better half and I had a free night and decided to ask the front desk guy, at our local chateau, if he could recommend a place for good Italian food. Let's just say he's lucky he wasn't at the front desk when we got back. He would've received a good stern talking to. The place looks great and the bread was really good. This is the point in the story where it slowly descended into an experience that was comical if it weren't true. Actually, pretty funny. She ordered the shrimp scampi and I ordered the chicken parm. Orders come out, look great! Now we dig in. As I started to hack into the chicken, I didn't realize this was going to be the highlight. It was ok. You know when you're really hungry and anything is good? It was that level of good. The amount of pasta was tiny but whatever because the sauce was average too. That said, between the CEO of my household and I, we powered through my dish. Now you're probably thinking, "why is she assisting me with my meal when she has her own waiting for her?" Well, I'll explain. She started her scampi which had next to no garlic and stopped eating. She politely offered me a small piece and that's when I realized why she was ripping through my chicken parm. After a small bite, I rescinded my acceptance and returned the partially eaten piece to her plate. Now we're like, gosh darnit. Maybe we should have ordered something different or just asked for more bread instead. Here comes the greeter/manager...We weren't going to say anything but then he comes over and asks us what's wrong because only half of 1 shrimp was consumed. My domestic overlord is trying to be polite and won't say anything. Manager insists. I lower my voice so no one else can hear and just tell him it just wasn't great. When he asked what was wrong with it, I try to avoid saying it but he insists. Who am I to deny a man such a request? At that point I explain that the shrimp was rubbery (if you've ever wondered what it's like to chew on a rubber band that's been lightly buttered, look no further). When I mentioned the issue, we weren't looking for a freebie; we simply thought maybe--just maybe--he'd offer to swap it for something edible. Instead, the manager looked at us as if he had just witnessed us kicking puppies and got super defensive. Not kidding. My life supervisor and I started to chuckle because we couldn't understand the reaction. Not, "I'm so sorry, can I get you something different?" or "I'm so sorry I can have another made for you." Instead, he decides to educate us on how it's one of their best dishes and everyone loves it. "Everyone". I explain I've eaten shrimp scampi all my life and this one was not too good. It's not like we ate the dish. We ate half of 1 shrimp. He looks at me in disgust and say's "from here??" Of course not. Folks, after what I've just said, what could ever make me want to try it a second time? For those of you keeping score out there, having to saw through a piece of shrimp and then chewing on it like it's gum, just to break it down, doesn't scream "mmmmm, delicious". So now he's apoplectic and decides to comp the meal like he was doing us a grand favor, even after we explicitly said that wasn't what we were asking for. It felt like we were hosting an intervention and the guest of honor denies everything that's in front of him because he knows better than everyone else. I mean, I'm happy I didn't have to pay for it but just some acknowledgment that MAYBE it was just a bad day for shrimp scampi would have worked. Apparently that was too avant-garde. Moral to the story...if you ask for feedback and then insist on the specifics, don't then get all irate. Between the incomprehensible welcome, the rubbery seafood, and the gaslighting, it's a no for me, Chuck. And to those of you who think the scampi at this place is good, maybe rethink your life choices. By the way, the chicken parm was edible. 2 stars? Maybe 3 for the effort.

I still like their beer, but I don't see another good reason to visit this place in person again. You'll find beers, ciders, vodka based seltzers, wine, and frozen drinks. There is no liquor for on site consumption, but they did recently release their own whiskey, which is actually pretty decent for the low price point. The venue is enormous, with a large warehouse style space that hosts live music. The acts are usually solid, and when there's a headliner, the place gets absolutely packed. The table games scattered around are a nice touch, and during the holidays the owners put up a custom miniature train display that's a big hit with kids. That said, there are some downsides. When the hops are really going, the smell can be rough, and during peak summer months it gets hot and humid as all hell, even with all the fans running. The food is also pretty underwhelming. Most items come with a side of chips. The burger is fine and probably the best thing on the menu, but don't bother with the tacos. They're very basic and the meat is usually overdone. Another major issue is the bathroom situation. The lines are painfully long almost all the time. For a place this big, the bathroom setup feels incredibly inefficient. The women's line is almost always backed up, and even the men's line gets long during busy hours. I also miss some of the old perks. Bartenders used to hand out drink tokens for buy backs, and there was a $10 charity donation wheel spin where you could win free stuff. Those days are long gone, which is a bummer since it added a little fun gambling element with your drinks. Despite some of the drawbacks, this is still one of my favorite places to visit. The bartenders are cool, the crowd is generally chill, and the overall vibe is relaxed. Parking can fill up quickly, but there's a large grassy area in the back that usually saves the day. Overall, it's a solid hangout spot for live music and variety. I just wished they'd improve the quality of food, and at least fix the bathroom situation. Don't mind the food photos, I got hangry!

Small and quaint, but the food is excellent. It was very busy at lunch and there wasn't much staff working, but they ran their tails off and never missed a step. The countryside crepe is exceptional and all of their salads are absolutely delicious. Not to mention, the authentic french bakery in the front of the restaurant. Awesome little French cafe in a neighborhood you would never expect it. Casual style, friendly and welcoming, the cafe has the best croissants and other French pastries you will find anywhere around here. I had breakfast, an egg croissant with salmon, and it was outstanding. Treat yourself and try this place out. read more
