However I was accosted outside of the bar by a kitchen employee and informed that they do not serve shots because they are looking for an older and cultured crowd and my money wasn't necessary for their success. Great burger! Lots of beer selections, but more expensive alcohol then any place around town. A couple times I was in there, it was a lot darker then the days I used to go to Casey's. The singer there was ok..... Kind of put you to sleep. I think they are missing out on an entertainment opportunity 1 night a week with a fun band or DJ. No place around here to do that anymore, there are enough "family" restaurants in town. Probably won't go back unless there was some decent nightlife entertainment.... We started with the fried pickles. They tasted great. The crushed red pepper made them nice and spicy. I had the Cork burger. It was a great burger. The peanut sauce is awesome. We've been here a few times since Casey's closed and Flynn's moved in. Nice atmosphere, classier than when it was Casey's. Good Irish music in the background but no Christmas music- some Celtic Christmas songs would have been perfect! We just had Saturday brunch- delicious. She had an omelette, I had an eggs benedict with asparagus and red onion- we both cleaned our plates! Beer selection is good, but no Guinness... That's ok, I like Murphy's as well, and with no Guinness it forces you to try something different. We decided to sign up for the beer club. It costs $9 but you do get a free Flynn's pint glass to keep. As you drink different beers you get points and after so many points you get ascending levels of swag. Beers are good but a bit pricey. During an earlier visit I had the feckin pepper burger- yummy burger with habanero chutney. The bartender and some other guests at the bar thought I was crazy for ordering it but I like spicy food. I used some of the chutney for dipping my fries. It was a great burger and had good heat. So far two visits and two good experiences. Four star rating is because of the beer prices- they are about $1-$2 more than they should be, but other than that it's a seriously nice place to visit. WOW! Read the reviews and headed here before a concert. I got a burger with bacon and pepper jack cheese served on a pretzel roll - unbelieveably good! Roll was not too thick or thin, just right. Burger was cooked to perfection. Fries were crispy and delicious. My husband had the steak tips and mashed - wow! This will be our new place to go before concerts. Flynn's has a great menu and wide selection of beers on tap. The burgers are spectacular and they offer gluten free options. The live music has always been good quality. They have a number of other locations which are also very good. If you are in the mood for a pub this is the place. Check it out you won't be disappointed. read more

This place was not that special. When it was Casey's it was much better. The beer selection however has improved! It's good, not great, but good. And the service was really slow, and when we got our food it was cold. Ill probably stick to other local joints over this one. The Catman has better food and service, and its just around the corner. read more

Amazing beer selection and the bartenders are very knowledgeable about craft beers, food was great I had the Mighty Flynn which was a burger with black and tan onion rights and a spicy style mozzarella stick on top, with a pretzel bun.. I stopped in before a Thursday night Pats game (we took the RI Pats Train down the street). They really do have a ton of very good beers on tap. The beer menu was literally two side of a sheet of legal. Overall, the prices may seem a bit exorbitant but in general 'good' beers usually are these days...either at the packie or the pub. The food menu looked varied...typical pub fare with some twists. I wasn't looking for anything fancy so had the basic Reuben, which was very good: not too greasy, kraut was perfect and fresh, the rye was toasted, and the fries were crispy. While we had plenty of time to kill, my only complaint was the wait for the food. 25-30 mins seems a bit long for a sandwich and fries (albeit very good sammich!), especially given that they weren't very busy. On any other day I would have been content to kill the time at the bar with another beer, but when you're starving, 30 mins feels like an eternity. I'd stop in again, but not for very long given the prices. read more

Have dined here a couple of times and this place is such a welcome addition to the area. Standard pub food here is quite good, but the star player is the craft beer selection. Definitely second to none in the area. On my last visit they were offering 46 different crafts on tap. Great atmosphere, free from the loud, obnoxious wall to wall TV's found at local dive franchises (I'm talking to you Buffalo Wild Wings) On the small side, but table and bar setup is very cozy. Worst thing I could possibly say about it is the parking, it's fairly limited. Why people waste there time at a place like Buffalo Wild Wings when a joint like this is less than a mile away is truly puzzling. I couldn't recommend Flynn's more. Five starts all the way. P.S. - For anyone familiar with Doherty's in Pawtucket and elsewhere, Flynn's is run by the same owner (all the more reason to visit!) I'd say the biggest downside is that some of the brews are a bit pricey compared to some brewhouses. BBC in Walpole usually offers a specific craftbrew or two at a special price ($4-$5) every now and then, perhaps Flynn's does this now, but it would be nice as sometimes I want to order a second beer and can't justify due to the price. read more

Tried Flynn's this past Sunday 1/12...Surprised that with playoff football on, there was no sound at all on the tv, just some Irish background music. Bar was fairly busy, and everyone seemed to be watching the game. While we totally understand the fact that Flynn's touts it's extensive craft beer selection, but we are both vodka drinkers and were taken aback at the lack of options. No Ketel One, Stoli, Grey Goose or even Smirnoff. Our bartender told us of the two vodka options (we had neither heard of either brand) and we each ordered a drink. Mine tasted pretty funky, and I tried my boyfriend's as well, maybe it was the ice? It just tasted "off". We did see food being brought out that looked very good, and the service was way better than at Casey's. Not sure we'd be going back though, unless they decide to expand their bar to include at least a few brands of vodka the average person has heard of. I hope the new owners take this into consideration, as not everyone is a beer or whiskey drinker... read more

I wish 0 stars was an option. I had the most miserable experience of my life at this place. It's really too bad because I have friends that love it here but now because of my experience they will never return either. After a LONG day of installing new cabinets, an oven and a refrigerator in his house, my brother and I went here with his girlfriend and my boyfriend. We were welcomed by no hostess, and stood by the bar for 10 minutes but couldn't get a drink because the bartenders were busy. No worries at all we thought! We will just sit down at this empty table and order some apps and drinks from a waitress. After 5 minutes of waiting a hostess came over and said "Are you just using this table to talk?" Slightly confused by her question we said, "No we were hoping to order something." Instead of saying that she would send over a waitress she went on to say, "Well you can sit here if you order something but if you're going to talk you need to go to the bar." I smiled and gave a little laugh and said, "We are going to order food and drinks." "Wonderful! I'll get you a server." What an odd encounter we thought. The waitress comes over with menus and immediately gives my brother a dirty look. Remember, he had been renovating his kitchen for 8 hours by this point. We all ordered drinks, she looked at my brother and said, "Umm have you been drinking all day?" We were all shocked. He looked at her and said "excuse me?" She responded with, "You look a little weird to me. I don't feel comfortable serving you. You look wasted." My brother's jaw fell open. We couldn't believe how rude and accusatory she was. I waitressed for 7 years and bartender for 3 so I completely understand that servers need to responsibly serve their customers or else they are held accountable. The way she handled herself was the most unprofessional and inappropriate thing I have ever witnessed. Livid by the way she accused him, my brother walked out, and we all quickly followed. To take it one step farther she stood by the door and obnoxiously waved and shouted goodbye to us. Flynn's should be ashamed of the lack of professionalism that server had. Because of her I will never be able to enjoy the spicy fried pickles I was about to order. We went to Jake and Joe's instead and had amazing service and food! I was on the fence as whether to give this place 3 or 4 stars. I decided on the 4 stars but it's really 3.5 stars and there is a condition...be prepared to wait. After my 1st visit I loved this place. After my 2nd visit, I hated it but decided to give it one more try. After my 3rd visit, I'm back to a strong like. This is not a high end restaurant but it is a very good pub restaurant. MY wife and I have tried a number of items on the menu and all have been very good. Steak tips, salads, fish and chips, and burgers have all been excellent. I am a fan of spicy food so decided to try the Feckin' Pepper burger as the menu says it's hot, hot, hot. Well it's pretty damn hot but delicious. My last visit I had the fish and chips and was not disappointed. Large portion of fish, tasty and well cooked. Again, all the food has been excellent. If you like beer, this is a great place. They have a large selection (likely 30+) of beers on tap. Maybe slightly above average prices for beers $6-8 for a 12 or 16 oz pour depending on the beer. My second visit to this place was not a pleasant one, the food a good but the wait for the food was horrible. I'm mean like approx 40 minutes to get our meal. The waiter did give us a round of drinks on the house but 40 minutes for a meal in a pub is unacceptable. Summary: very good pub food but you may have to wait a while to get it. I've now been coming to Flynns since they opened over two years ago, and I love this place more than I ever have. It's the ideal neighborhood bar: Awesome beer selection (rotated as quickly as the kegs kick), great food, and a staff that I've come to consider great friends over the years. Flynns tries hard (and succeeds) to not be some local dive bar. The prices aren't any higher than you would pay at some crap chain restaurant- and you would be hard-pressed to find a burger selection better anywhere in the area. The bar staff is knowledgable about what they have on tap- they are true beer lovers- they know their customers- and the management does a great job of trying to fill every "beer lovers" niche with new and sought-after brews from some pretty kick-butt breweries. It's unrealistic to think you're going to get some of the best beers out there for $3.50 a pint, so if your expectation is that you can drink Bud Lite Draft All night for $10, Flynns isn't the place for you. It does get busy there on Friday and Saturday nights with the live music. Just like any restaurant on a busy night, it can take a second or two to get a beer. It's unrealistic to expect not to have to wait for a seat or to be served- but I've never seen anyone wait longer than 5 minutes at the bar, even when it's 3 layers deep with patrons. I love Flynns- I love the staff and the atmosphere (that's the reason I come 3-4 nights a week). It's sad that some of these reviews on here are based on unrealistic expectations and in some cases, absolute exaggerations and/or lies. There are plenty of dive bars in town where you can pound shots and act like an idiot. I'm happy that Flynns isn't one of those places, and I hope it stays that way. read more
