I have seen a poke place has a good variety. This is the first. The mixed in also has 22 items I can pick. The miso soup is included part of the deal. The base also good amount of choices. read more

The employee did their job and helped me but service was a little flat. The crab salad was dense and lacked flavor. I removed it and ate my bowl without it. The rest of the bowl was just fine. I have had better poke but I've also had worse. It felt a little bland and the ingredients didn't feel particularly fresh. My mom ordered a miso soup. From the personalized art on the walls to the informative waste/recycle area; it was actually far more enjoyable to dine-in as opposed to carry-out. Considering the nasty neighborhood they're located in, that says quite a bit. I feel the cost is reasonable; especially when you factor in the quality and the vast array of options. While we were eating, we got a full-blown live show of drug deals across the street and a series of loud homeless rants. The stretch along 3rd Street reeks of human pee, and when we finished, we made a beeline out of the area. Definitely not somewhere I'd linger. That said, the food was a huge and unexpected win. They have so many options, and everything I tried was fresh and flavorful. The coconut and green tea infused jasmine rice was amazing, and their salmon was super fresh. They offer tons of sauce options--my favorites were the FOB house sauce and the creamy cilantro. And the toppings? Absolutely stacked. The zesty mango was such a unique touch, and I loved that they had seaweed salad, edamame, imitation crab, cucumbers, and more--all included. The only thing that cost extra was avocado, which is totally fair. We ordered 3 bowls for around $40, and we ate every bite happily. It doesn't limit much except for the number of proteins you get with the size which is pretty generous. We ate it in the restaurant and they had a free miso soup machine as well. Build Your Own Regular Bowl - I got brown rice with green onion, cucumber, FOB poke sauce which I assumed was house sauce with sesame sauce, salmon, seared ahi tuna, edamame, mango, seaweed salad, crabmeat and topped with the wonton strips. All together, everything tasted fresh from the mango to seaweed salad to the big portions of fish that they put in as well as savory and umami from the sauces. We went on a weekday evening, and it wasn't too busy so we were able to order and get our poke almost immediately. I thought all the employees were nice and efficient, and I was impressed that they could hear my friend and me both ordering at the same time and remember what toppings we respectively wanted. The menu is incredibly expansive, and although I don't have any dietary restrictions, I appreciated how there were so many vegan and vegetarian options. It's also a great place for new people to venture into seafood because they have cooked protein options. Unless there is a price next to something on the menu, it's complimentary. I loved how tofu, usually counted as one protein that you pay for, was a complimentary topping. For my poke, I got a half & half base of FOB rice and quinoa and couscous, most of the mix ins, a few of the sauces, two proteins, and most of the complimentary toppings. For the amount of food you get, the price point is amazing. There are a few tables and chairs for seating inside, and it's a pretty casual atmosphere. Tl;dr I've been to a lot of poke spots, but this one was definitely one of the most efficient, had the most toppings, and was very generous with the amount of food I got! I've already been here twice and would definitely come again if I'm ever in the area and want poke. During peak times like week day lunch, you may need to wait a bit if you're ordering in-store, but the line should move pretty fast, and even at peak times the line was nothing like what I saw snaking outside of FOB Sushi. There is a moderate amount of seating inside, but since most people seem to take their lunches to go, you're probably going to be ok finding seats. They do offer water inside, and there is one single-user bathroom which was weirdly popular with diners (as for the bathroom's state: heard it was ok, but didn't experience it myself). As for toppings, this is the first place where I've seen tamago, jicama, and multiple kinds of radish like watermelon radish as toppings. Although I was excited by the tamago, it was too sweet for me. The watermelon radish and jicama were great, and all my other go-to poke toppings were available. In terms of freshness, the toppings and the fish were all great! I've only gotten the large size here, but considering that it basically lasts two meals and is always surprisingly heavy, you're probably fine with whatever the smaller size is unless you're super hungry. You do pay up-front, so not too much to say about service. The workers seem friendly enough and constantly ask if you want more toppings, which I appreciate since sometimes I forget one. The area around the store is a teensy bit sketchy, but overall seemed fine (during the daytime at least, not sure about later). read more

The poke bowl didn't have a ton of fish (just one small scoop each) but the toppings were enough to make for a good portion. It was flavorful even on top of the sauces that I added. The bowl was very filling and the couple times that I've been to FOB Poke Bar I've left pretty full and satisfied with what I got. I stopped into FOB Poke Bar on a Sunday at around 1pm with a group of 5 after wandering around the bustling Pike Place Market for the morning. Located in the heart of Belltown, the actual restaurant is a "blink and you'll miss it" sort of place, since it's hidden by scaffolding and construction, but the inside is more spacious than the unassuming exterior lets on, with a front counter and plenty of seating. The restaurant was busy with a line when we entered, but it moved quickly, since they had multiple people working the front counter. You order by taking a paper menu and telling the servers what you'd like. Prices vary based on how many scoops of protein you'd like - I ordered a Regular ($13.99), which comes with two scoops of protein. You start with a base, and they have plenty of variety (different types of rice, lettuces/veggies, quinoa, couscous, and even tortilla chips), and then you can pick as many mix-ins as you would like (seaweed, green onion, cucumbers, jalapeños, and sweets onions) - all Gluten Free! For proteins, I chose Salmon and Yellowtail, and they certainly don't skimp on the protein scoops. There's many different types of sashimi/poke, as well as cooked options like grilled chicken or beef tataki, and even eel (for an added fee). There's also multiple sauces/salad dressings you can use, but I thought that the seasoning from the fish/toppings was plenty! But the best part of FOB Poke Bar is their unlimited toppings feature - a lot of other poke places charge for additional toppings when you order more than 5 or 6, but at FOB, you can get as many as you'd like, and some that would be considered "premium" or an extra cost at other places are included here, such as broiled tofu, crabmeat salad, or masago. Of course, there's the standard fare such as seaweed salad, edamame, and ginger, as well as crunchy toppings like furikake, fried garlic, and wonton strips, and a whole plethora of other toppings that I won't list out. After paying $13.99 for a fully loaded bowl (really an amazing value), I wasn't expecting the quality to be all that good, but I was pleasantly surprised. No, the poke didn't taste the freshest (so I've knocked it down a star), and the crab salad tasted a bit off, but the vegetables were crunchy and fresh, and everything was well-seasoned. This won't be the best poke you've ever tried, but it's certainly the best value that you'll get for poke anywhere in Seattle, and service is fast and friendly.
