My in-laws from Japan came to visit for the first time ever and wanted to have an American diner experience. I wanted to find a spot that had food better than a greasy spoon, but still the old school vibe with soda machine counter and stools. Since we were going to walk around the Pike Place with potential for snacks afterwards, we sort of did our meal family style with 3 entrees split between 4 adults. We ordered the mushroom omelet, eggs Benedict and a classic type of breakfast combo. The food was good, not mind-blowing, but I would come back for the overall experience of decent food and ambiance. I appreciated that the staff was chill and diverse (included POC and queer-presenting servers). I especially got along with the server who has little ones as my little one was with us. She also told me that I could change my baby's diaper in the hotel lobby area since unfortunately the bathrooms don't have changing rooms. My sister and I had stayed at the palihotel and would walk past coming in and out. We had decided to stop by after dinner to grab dessert and drinks and my my... we were blown away. The vibes and ambience were immaculate. It was so cozy, with warm dim lighting, fun prints and textures everywhere and on top of that, amazing staff! The first night we had gotten sticky toffee pudding and drinks. I will forever crave this pudding !!! It was so perfect, not overly sweet with the cream it was paired with. I definitely recommend asking for extra cream as well, we felt as if it balanced the dessert. The second night we had stopped by for dinner & dessert. We tried the braised short rib which was phenomenal. The meat was amazingly tender, the sauce and veggies were perfectly seasoned. We also ordered the sticky toffee pudding again and it was just as good as the first time. I will definitely stop by whenever I'm in Seattle. Well I walk in greated by the host and asked how many. I advised I would like a table for one. The host says it will be 15-20min wait. I reply that's fine and I'll wait. Two parties walk in right behind me and choose to accept the immediate option of counter seating. Then a party of four walks in with no reservation and she immediately seats them. She then raises her voice at me reminding me that I can have immediate seating at the bar or counter. I said how is it possible that I need to wait 15-20 for a just myself. But you have immediate seating for a party of four. She cuts me off and said they're holding tables for the reservations. But I was standing right here and that party told you they didn't have a reservation yet they got immediate seating. A server passing by offered more professionalism and understanding. I was ultimately given a small table near the door which was completely fine with me. For a first time guest, this was NOT what I expected after reading yelp reviews that led me here in the first place. Food quality was great and would be worth your time, but I pray your experience starts off much better than mine! Much to my surprise the server who witnessed the situation took it upon himself to offer his apologies for the experience and got me a discount on my bill. The gesture was greatly appreciated mainly because I didn't have to complain to a manager or ask. Small details like that have a greater impact for me personally. read more

My husband used the complimentary drink voucher from check-in and really enjoyed his cocktail (though I don't remember the name). Since we weren't too hungry, we shared a chicken pot pie. It pairs well with their delicious homemade butter and apricot jam. - No need to go to Starbucks. The PSL here is flavorful and smooth. - I'm usually not a French fry person, but the fries were really good here! - I got the Palicob salad. I think this was the weakest part of the meal, as the chicken was kind of tasteless. Everything else about the salad (cheddar cheese and bacon) were well-cut and presented and satisfying to mix together though. I was also happy they didn't use too much dressing. And another friend asked for hot sauce after his food came, and one of the kitchen staff acted so hot and bothered by his request! With that said, my coworkers said their beet salad was below expectations. At first glance, the salad seems to be seriously lacking the beets, but in actuality they're just buried under the bed of arugula. French toast was sickeningly sweet, the biscuits flavor didn't mesh with the eggs and gravy or the strawberries and cream. The Reuben was the best thing we ate and even in that the corned beef's was saltiness was not properly offset so all in all, food was mid at best. Our server ended up being pretty passive aggressive but I saw other servers that did not give the same vibe so I think we just got unlucky there. My partner didn't enjoy their drink so we asked to replace it with what I ordered and they gave a whole huff and a puff and an eye roll, so they totally ruined our time but sometimes you get bad staff or perhaps they were having a rough morning or something. I ordered the corned beef hash, which was very unique among the other corned beef hashes I've had in the past.
