I've been to Fogarty's quite a few times, because it's pretty good, and close to my in-laws' home. On my most recent visit, with my wife and child, I think we discovered the best thing on the menu: the haddock sandwich with the fish baked. Wow, the fish was just right, with very light breading and really tender fish. As a side dish, we had sweet potato fries, an extra cost option that's definitely worthwhile. Having discovered the sandwich, I don't know whether we'll ever want to order anything else, unless it's dessert. - - - On our previous visit, two days ago, we were there with my in-laws. I ordered the haddock Florentine with sweet potato fries. It was good, but the fish was breaded and deep fried (I think), and not as good as the haddock fish and chips we had at a dive bar yesterday. The sweet potato fries were delicious, which is how we knew to order them today. My wife had a veggie burger (also with sweet potato fries), and it was good but not memorable. Our little guy had chicken tenders. He liked them, and had enough for another meal from the take-out box. My father-in-law had a turkey dinner, which was enormous. I don't know how he managed, but he ate all the turkey, though most of the stuffing ended up in a take-out box. My mother-in-law ordered a salad, but I didn't get a good look at it or ask her for a report. The whole meal for the five of us, including sodas for two of us, was only $103 with tax (plus a generous tip, because service was good and servers are underpaid in Maine). - - - My memories of Fogarty's from previous visits to Maine are vague. The first time I was there, I tried out a lobster roll. I'm from "Away", so I had no idea what a lobster roll was, but I was curious because I saw so many signs by restaurants advertising them. It was a pretty good sandwich. The other thing I remember from previous years is that they have delicious desserts here. I don't remember what desserts I've ordered, but my impression is that they're all delicious. The only reason I haven't had Fogarty's desserts this visit is that Ihave a child started getting wiggly toward the end of the main course. - - - If the only thing I has ever ordered here were the haddock sandwich, the desserts, and the good service, I'd rate it five stars. But most of the food I've had there is more deserving of four (or three) stars, so I'm giving an overall rating of four. read more

Being newer to the area we just recently found Fogarty's. We've been twice on Friday's for the haddock fish fry. It's tied for the best I've had in the area with Billy's Chowder House in Wells, ME. The sides and variety at Fogarty's are what sets them apart. The fresh cut fries and pineapple coleslaw are excellent. Everything we've tried appears to be homemade including the rolls, ranch dressing and tartar sauce. read more

Went with friends when we were camping near by. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The restaurant was clean and bright with lots of windows. We all order something different and everyone enjoyed their meal. I can only post about mine as well that's what I eat. I had lobster stuffed haddock. It came with two sides, I had salad and baked potato which were fine. But the fish was a step above. Oh my so very good. I could only eat half as the serving size was huge. Okay... have to admit... we sometimes refer to Fogarty's as an "old person" restaurant given the demographic of the typical crowd. But that is not meant to be a slight. Every time we eat there (for dine-in or take-out) it is really good and we have never had a bad experience or bad meal. And if desserts are your thing you will be really impressed by the pie selection. So, the lesson here is listen to your elders... they obviously know what they are talking about (at least when it comes to Fogarty's). read more

My wife and I were headed to try a new resturant. She had purchased a Groupon from her place of employment. When we arrived at 4pm, we discovered it didn't open until 5pm, so on YELP I went and we discovered Fogarty's. We arrived around 4:30pm and noticed the place had lots of customers, a good sign for us. We generally have discovered that if no one is eating at a place, we aren't either. This establishment is well known among the locals. Be prepared to wait outside on the benches until your table is ready. The food is good. We started off the chicken tenders appetizer. The honey mustard sauce is very tangy it is not sweet. I had grilled chicken dinner with onion rings. I was glad the waitress offered the sauce to be on the side. The chicken was good. They are known for the rings but they were not memorable. What was very good was my daughter's chicken Parmesan and the awesome steak fries. The desserts were tasty also. My friend and I recently went to Fogarty's for indoor seating. The tables were spaced more than 6 ft apart, and masks were worn by everyone, except when you were eating. Food was delicious as always, and the assortment of desserts was amazing too. This place is off the beaten path, in South Berwick, Me, but well worth the trip every single time. Staff was very friendly, accommodating and professional, yet didn't bug us with unnecessary questions every 5 minutes. I had thee worst late lunc, you could imagine! Ordered fried Clam and Scallop colobus, with a salad and onion rings as my sides for an extra say $4.50. Well to begin, it all came out at once! And the so called Sea Scallop, were baby Bay scallops from Asia. With that being said, GROSS little round flavorless Sea Scallop. And the 10 clams were so tiny. I naturally complained and management decided to knock off the so called price of the Scallop. THAT's it, not even a desert or nothin. I couldn't eat the scallops, or even the onion rings because I so disgusted! So they did absolutely nothin, they discountEd what I could not eat anyway. Excellent food! We had a wonderful server who had a great sense of humor. She did a great job taking care of us, even though we were upstairs away from the majority of the patrons. Great classic restaurant with yummy food and quick takeout. The desserts are impeccable and homemade, so absolutely don't leave without having some (or get it to-go!) This is somewhat random, but their coleslaw is the best I have ever had anywhere. My favorite meal is chicken tenders and steak fries with their delicious sweet and sour sauce. They also have great clam strips and fried clams. Yes, a lot of elderly people eat here, but at 21, I also thoroughly enjoy it. We were looking for a local bakery and some one had mentioned Fogarty's. We stopped in just to try some of the stuff from their dessert selections. We ended up getting two slices of cheese cake and a dozen of their chocolate chip cookies. Seriously delicious, some of the best desserts I've ever had. Because we were so impressed by their desserts we went back for dinner. We weren't disappointed, the food was super yummy. My husband found this on line and decided to try it on our wedding anniversary celebration dinner. We went as walk-in and was seated 15 mins later even though it was busy. Great customer service, place is clean and the tables were appropriately spaced out (post COVID-19) and has plenty of parking. Wow! We had the same experience as Daniel there last night. We have been going there off and on for the last fifty years......but no more. Food was always good , but last night was the worst service I have ever seen anywhere, yes anywhere and all of us have eaten in many restaurants around the world.! We had to tell her again the we did not get the second soup about ten minutes we got the soup but never got the onion rings, remember we were done eating and then she brought the sour cream and my wife's cole slaw. My daughter went to talk to her, total incompetence in customer relations and somehow made us feel like it was OUR fault at that point I could see how come we got lousy service a totaly incompetent manager. I was in town traveling on business and used Yelp....the Yelper's didn't let me down one bit. Waitress was very friendly and helpful when I asked what their signature dish was and she suggested I go with the Lobster Pie. I will tell you it is pure heaven if you're a lobster fan.
