    Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup
    Eugene C.

While there are a plethora of great restaurants in Chinatown, it's always good to give the ones not on the main strip of Mott or Canal St a try as they are also very good. Fok Noodles is a cozy, hole in the wall type restaurant that is on a side street in the East Broadway section of Chinatown. It is your prototypical good food with no frills type of place. On a recent visit, I ordered the duck noodle soup and the Taiwanese beef noodle soup to go. Both were very good. There were others in line who were raving about the dumplings, which I will have to try next time. For Noodles is not really a date spot due to the lack of ambiance but it is a good takeout spot.

Casual, cozy, small restaurant with lots of options for food. The staff were kind and the food came out quickly. The Chinese sausage in the clay pot rice was a bit too salty, the soup dumplings were good. I liked the soup in the fish tips noodle soup.

This is for Fok Express. I was close by so we went in to check it out. Small place. Few chairs for dining in. I got some har gow and some fried ....dumpling thing. The har gow was really salty in some areas ...the fried thing took a long time to make but it was freshly fried at least. L ate two of them. He did like it..but I didn't want him to eat too much fried stuff so we threw away the last one even though it was really small. I saw someone order char siu over rice but he wanted it hot... shrimp dumplings aren't cheap now but I've had better .. the fried thing was so small. I don't think the order was worth $5.. maybe I should've tried the spicy wontons instead.

Very affordable dishes that you cannot get these days due to inflation. For $5, you can get chili wontons, Taiwanese sliced noodles, and fried salad dumplings. The char siu over rice is $5.99 and that is what I got. It came in a nice rectangle size container and portions were big for that price. Char siu was not fatty and they gave a lot. I also got the Taiwanese noodles and they were flat and broad noodles. They put a lot of chili flakes and seeds were everywhere on the noodles. It was somewhat spicy but it was bearable until I started the chili wontons and my mouth was on fire! They were so damn spicy that I needed to finish my whole water bottle and my mouth was still burning hot! My nose kept running too! Sucks! I had to drink milk afterwards to neutralize my mouth! The wontons were good but it was too hot for me!

A cozy joint offers comfort HK style food. The service was good and food quite decent. I've tried the Steamed Rice Roll, Saltwater Moon (咸水角), and Pork W.Salty Fish Clay Pot Rice. I want to come back and try some noodle soup.

Fok Noodles is located east of Bowery. Walking from the South, we actually missed it bec of the sharp turn to Catherine St. Passed the kitchen/BBQ meats, to the small space in the back with tables close to each other. Was recommended to me for their roast meats so got a pick-2-over rice: roast pig and roast duck. Roast pig was in tiny, fatty pieces. Portion is less than Hay Hay Roasted; but both meats were tasty. Claypot rice with pork with salty fish came out plain-looking. I thought would have some veggies but none. Were told to add the claypot sauce ourselves which I like so can control the amount/saltiness. I did like the toasted rice at the bottom. Siumai and warm Purple rice soup were ok. Credit card use service fee - 3.5%. Service was good. There's a restroom, was clean.

Fok Noodles, previously known as E Noodle Cafe, serves dumplings, dim sum, a whole variety of noodles, congee, and more. It's a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant specializing in Cantonese style food, and really really great steamed pork & chive dumplings! $5 (8) fried salmon dumplings - Compared to pork dumplings, the salmon has less of a chew, but that's where the fried skin comes in. It goes well inside the fried dumplings. There's some onions and carrots inside, and it comes with sweet chili sauce to dip. $7.50 (6) steamed pork & chive dumplings - Beautiful folds. Juicy, fresh, and delicious. Each dumpling is $1.25 but taste-wise and quality-wise, these are top tier - from the moment I opened the box and the steam hit my face. Our order of dumplings did take a while to get to us (about 20 minutes), so come if you're not in a rush anywhere!

Five stars for good price, good portions, and delicious comfort food. Got the hoisin peanut rolls and veggie dumplings and they were both SUPERB. I will def come back here. Ambiance is your divey hole in the wall chinese place with food made fast and efficient and service as well.

Quite literally a hole in the wall spot! Located on Catherine street, this Hong Kong inspired restaurant has great eats, ranging from soup dumplings, dim sum to noodle soup. Prices are fairly cheap and you can definitely get a whole meal without breaking the bank :) we got the soup dumplings, pan friend vegetarian noodles & the Hong Kong style noodle w/ soup on the side. Everything was made fresh to order and we didn't leave any for leftovers lol. I definitely wanna come back to this place and try some other stuff

Food 7/10 The juiciest fried dumplings I've had in a while. I think I burnt my tongue because I got overexcited. They were plump and crispy on the outside, with just the right amount of seasoning. Slightly oily but honestly, they brought me joy. The clay pot was solid too, but less so compared to the dumplings. I like how it makes the rice crispier after it sits in the pot for a while, but thought the rice to sausage ratio was a bit off. Atmosphere 7/10 A hole in the wall type of Chinese restaurant, pretty much only frequented by locals. I'm sure there's a rich history behind it too. Service 10/10 Super friendly staff and very quick service. Unlimited refills of tea, which I hugely appreciated in the cold winter weather.

Went to Fok Noodles for a quick bite along our food tour in Chinatown NYC! Peanut noodles was not overpowering with the peanut flavor and has a little bit of a spicy kick which I enjoyed. The soup dumplings were pretty solid.

Dumplings were so plump and filled with juicy pork and veggies, I took my son here because he's a dumplings lover and I found this place on tik tok and it did not disappoint, my son loved it I enjoyed it myself and we said we would return, service was good they checked on us to make sure we was good and I love how small the spot was, more of a cultural experience for my son and he enjoyed it was his first time in Chinatown

Came here for the clay pot rice, and THAT WAS GOOD! Originally wanted to also try some congee but I guess that's not what they're know. For. It's not bad though. But the clay pot rice is really good! It was pretty empty for a Saturday morning and the service was relatively quick.

The beef soup is clear and light and the noodles have a delightful texture, with a slight chew and good bounce. There's a good portion of braised beef as well. Tender but a bit fatty for my taste, but given the portion it's not going to kill you. Lamb burger ended up as overkill and will be consumed as leftovers but a quick sampling let me know that it's gamey and fatty with strong notes of cumin. Not a bad thing, but something to note for people that might not generally enjoy lamb or cumin. Black pepper beef rice bowl was solid too. Spice wise, you can calibrate accordingly but I'd recommended at least their regular spice level. Decent amount of tenderized but still chewy beef. Both dishes came with a salad of celery, carrot, cucumber, peanuts and seaweed strips in a light sauce. Couldn't quite figure out the sauce but it was lightly tart and refreshing. Space is clean and modern. Neutral wood, well lit. Service is friendly enough. If you dine in, you order at the kiosk and they'll deliver to your table. We had leftovers that they graciously packed up. Solid choice. I hope they stick around as they do bring a different cuisine to the area.

The Ahi Tuna was the perfect and proper color it should be. The flavors were SPECTACULAR-WONDERFUL!!! NOTE: WAGAMAMA has added to their menu, since my last visit, so you now have a RAMEN SELECTION, and other yummy additions. I was too full from my spectacular Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl to try the Korean bbq Chicken Wings ($8.95) but, I will definitely be back to try them!! I'll post menu photos so you have an idea of the delicious food choices. (April 2026) My very first delicious bite of Ahi Tuna had a heavenly garlic flavor, it was wonderful, and the sweet green seaweed with rice only added to the wonderfulness. Vertical slices of cucumber, onion and scallion, also add deliciously to my wonderful Poke Bowl. Toasted sesame seeds, too. SIMPLY MARVELOUS!!! Remember to be sure to mix the poke bowl rice as you eat, so that you mix the rice with the yummy sauce that may accumulate at the bottom of the poke bowl. I usually eat a little while, THEN, mix the rice. This was so good, I had to eat, eat, eat, before I could stop to mix. LOL. That sweet green seaweed was so yummy!! A lovely mix of flavors...the garlic, the sweetness....I LOVED IT ALL SO MUCH!!!! When was the last time you enjoyed a dish so very much that you felt like standing up in the restaurant and telling everyone: THIS IS SOOO DELICIOUS!!!! Well, I felt like that, but I didn't stand up and tell everyone, but I did tell the manager, who happen to come to the table to ask how everything was. And I let him know how much I was enjoying the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. He explained why and how the tuna was so flavorful. We had a delightful brief foodie chat. What a joy!! The service is very nice here. I like the atmosphere too. And the music, which is cool; it does not interfere with thinking, or having a conversation. I really like it here . The women's rest room was very nice, and clean, with a Dyson Hand Dryer, so no paper towels on the floor. Yay! Helping our environment, too!! And I like the black and white wall paper, too. See my photos My last visit I enjoyed the Pad Thai, and the same non-alcoholic beverage, " Asian Mint Limeade", from the MINDFUL DRINKS area on the beverage menu. ($9.50) (April 2026). A nice treat! It does have a light carbonation (bubbles). This visit my delicious meal was from the BOWLS SECTION of the food menu, it was the AHI TUNA POKE BOWL ($17.95) (April 2026) With warm, and hot weather on the way, I know I will be enjoying this AHI TUNA POKE BOWL again...and again! If you love good food, good service, and a very cool environment, put this location of WAGAMAMA on your list ! (East side) LOCATED On THIRD AVE, at East 39th Street. There is OUTDOOR SEATING, too, with red umbrellas. See my photos. Enjoy yourself here. Totally delightful. There are several locations in Manhattan. I did not know that. So, the one I have dined at is ON THIRD AVENUE, at EAST 39th Street. Look for the Red Umbrellas outside, at the corner of East 39th Street and Third Avenue. Enjoy!!!

There was also happy hour when we arrived (6:15pm) so we ordered two hand rolls ($5 each). We ordered the chirashi bowl and the shoyu ramen. We were guided toward the back, past white marble tables with beautiful mustard colored velvet chairs to the long countertop facing the open kitchen. We scanned QR codes to pull up the menu, and despite no omakase noodle offerings to be found, decided to stay because the menu options they did have sounded too good to pass up. Of course they had classic shio and miso ramens, but they also had a duck tsukumen, a red snapper ramen, a black truffle ramen, and the dish I set my sights on-- the uni mazemen. There were also lots of appetizers and a long list of high end onigiri featuring proteins like scallop lemon shio, A5 wagyu ponzu, and bluefin chutoro on offer. This place was the real deal. Our group shared the tebasaki wings-- so crispy and so flavorful, I could have inhaled a whole plate of these. The salmon, ikura, and apple appetizer that was served in a glass chalice was superb but even better was the bluefin tuna avocado sashimi with wasabi. That one was a winner across the board. And then my uni mazemen, which really stole the show. There was a very generous portion of uni that mixed with the savory sauce and al dente ramen noodles perfectly. This dish was rich, unctuous, and fresh and definitely delivered in value, though it was double the price of most other noodle bowls. Uni is a delicacy. Having just returned from a second trip to Japan I can say this place is really as good as any restaurant I visited in Japan, and it's right here in Murray Hill. These Murray Hill bros are lucky.
