Great soups!! Soup is piping hot. They also have wraps and sandwiches. It's a small to go place.

I've been coming here for a few years and I love this soup! They usually have 12 ish soups choices each day and come with a piece of baguette. They change slightly everyday and is a lunchtime take out spot, no seating. Come early if you want your favorite, I noticed the lobster bisque usually sells out the fastest. They also sell small sandwiches to go with the soup that are tasty, ham and cheese, Swiss and turkey, tuna, all the hits. My favorite soup is the Hungarian mushroom and the red pepper gouda. I have not tried them all but I also liked the Italian wedding, white bean spicy sausage, lobster bisque, Split pea and ham, Clam chowder, pumpkin and the crab creole are also very good. read more

Thank god a shorter line for these heavenly delicious soups. I quickly glance at the Soup of the Day. I ordered a large of the Boston Clam Chowder (White) because its my favorite hearty soup especially on the second day of Spring. Awwww how cute I feel like I am in a high school as they packed an apple and a piece of baguette. It's so incredibly delicious...lots of potatoes and clam meat. The cashier enters your phone number into their address book that way you can call in and get points. I gave him my number so I think that I got one point :-) You can call in to get their soup of the day or check online for their menu as well. This was my first time there. Tiny spot but quick service. I got a buffalo chicken sandwich with minestrone soup. The soup stayed hot until I got back to my office which is only about a five minute walk. Comes with bread and an apple. Don't worry about picking up a spoon they put a napkin and a spoon in the little baggie with the bread and apple. Yummy and a good price for a cold day. I liked the New England Clam Chowder. They have used the same recipe for this Chowder for 20'years. I purchase quart size soups enough for two servings and very reasonably priced at $15. The proprietor has been with Tracks for a long while. I miss the restaurant being buried in Penn Station it was frequently the after work pub of choice. At first I was intimidated by the line, but today I really wanted soup... All I thought about is soup. Usually I would go to heal and heartys but my coworkers told me there soup is delicious and you get more for your buck. Today I ordered Angus Beef Steak with Chili... After I tried like three different soups. They were all good but lots of creamy selection which I can't have. The two gentleman behind the counter were very nice and patient. Best lunch spot in the area for soup. $6 for a large and $5 for a small of any kind of soup. They often have seafood soups as well as your classics. It comes with a piece of bread and a fruit (usually an apple or an orange). The soups also clearly indicate Gluten Free, Dairy Free, and Vegetarian for dietary restrictions. Take out only, cash and credit accepted. There is also a punch card for a free small soup after 10 purchases. If you check their Facebook page, they upload the menu daily so you can see what the soup selections are. My favorites are anything with crab, their gumbos, and their classic New England Clam Chowder. The bisques can be a bit salty for my taste. They also offer combos to complete your lunch that comes with either a sandwich or side salad for $3 more. The sandwiches/wrap are pre-made fresh but kind of boring. The star of the show are definitely the soups. They are flavorful, well-made, and have the right amount of spices and seasoning. Feel free to sample 2 or 3 soups before choosing. I ordered the lobster, shrimp, and salmon bisque which was a little too creamy for me and unfortunately didn't have many chunks of the seafood. I think I just got unlucky with that one though! Thankfully we have Soup Spot, a little hole in the wall where you could get a delicious large soup, a half sandwich, a slice of ciabatta and an orange for $8. I decided to try the Soup Spot since I'm currently getting over a cold and wanted some good chicken noodle in the area (and not "same ol" Hale & Hearty). The soup was exactly the way I wanted. The broth was fresh and the soup as a whole was well balanced (right amount of noodles/chicken pieces) and tasty. I added a little pepper to mine due to my sinuses blocking my taste buds, but it was not a necessity. As stated in the other reviews, they include bread and an apple in your bag. The place itself is extremely small (I mean can-only-fit-about-seven-people-at-a-time small). But it's a perfect spot to stop and go (the line moves extremely quick, even during lunch). Unless you're looking for a place to park yourself while slurping your soup, there's very little about the Soup Spot that's not to like. They've always a good variety of soups from which to choose, there's always a vegetarian offer for you meatless minded folks, the prices are very reasonable, and even when the lines back out the door and onto the sidewalk, you'll cruise thru pretty quickly unless there are a bunch of newbs lined up in front of you. With each soup you'll walk away with a chunk of bread (not wonder bread) and an apple or orange. You have a choice of large or small soup, and you have a choice of just plain soup, or a soup and sandwich combo. I often get the small soup and sandwich combo, and find that it fills me up just fine. Sometimes two small sizes of two different soups is a good route to go too. Read the menu taped to the window before you go in. If you're just reading the menu when you reach the counter, then you're being a chump and slowing things down. They'll give you a taste of the soups if asked, but don't do if you're lined in front of me. You don't want to get between me & my bisque. If you insist on tasting, then please don't sit there and ask to taste every damned style. You're probably trying to choose between two soups, so limit your tasting to them. Got it? On behalf of everyone behind you in the line, thank you! I'm partial to the seafood bisques and the mushroom soups. I'm not a fan of the chicken noodle soup, and I don't understand why every place in NY feels they need to put giant hunks of celery in chicken soup. The bean soups are good too. But inside, there's a rotating menu of soups, listed on paper menus taped to the counter. A few of the soups are low fat, vegetarian, or gluten free (I imagine others include roux to thicken them). Definitely some of the best soup I've ever had in the NYC Metro area. My first trip there, I got the lobster, shrimp and salmon bisque ... creamy, smooth and an absolute thrill ride for my taste buds. They don't only leave you with a small cup of soup though, there's also bread & fruit included too! This is more than enough to fill my tummy, especially for less than $4! The line was out the door when I took my 1 PM lunch (not surprising since they can only fit about 5 customers inside at a time) and I had my small soup to go in about 15 minutes. The first time was with a friend who often goes there for lunch, so I decided to tag along that day with her. Their options are $6.50 for a small soup, $8.50 for a small soup and half a sandwich, or $9.50 for a large soup and half a sandwich. Prices were extremely reasonable for a New York food place especially by Penn Station. Lobster, Salmon, Shrimp Bisque: Creamy and homey. Thought there weren't any pieces of meat in the soup but they were actually on the bottom of the soup! Boston Clam Chowder: Definitely had more flavor compared to the Lobster Bisque. There was also more meat and veggie pieces in this as well, so I prefer this soup more. Sandwiches are alright. It's not really half of a sandwich, more like a quarter, so I do wish the sandwiches were a bit bigger. My favorite from here is the Hungarian Mushroom and Cream of Jalapeno but do try everything because they do soups right here! You can always get a taste first before you commit as well.
