    Umami Cucumber Bite
    Rosanna N.

I ordered this place for takeout and even when it arrived it was super hot and had a great texture. 1. UMAMI CUCUMBER BITE (7/10): The sauce did not taste like any special. It tasted like sesame oil and soy sauce. It felt a bit greasy but the cucumbers tasted fresh. I don't think I would order this again. 2. SPICY PORK BONE (8/10): This was delicious but lacked some of the richer flavors that ramen usually has. The egg was cooked perfectly and I really liked the bamboo in it. I would get this again if I was in the store. The delivery was fast and still delicious. I would definitely go to the restaurant to try it out in person.

(Overall: A) - Jun-Men Ramen is a ramen shop closer to the west side of Chelsea and I visited recently to try their take on a Pork Bone Ramen. I found their pork to be incredibly tender and adequately plentiful. The egg is beautifully marinated in soy, and the broth is very rich and well developed in that pork bone flavor. At $21, perhaps the ramen was a bit expensive, especially with no fresh vegetable besides scallions, but not too unreasonable for Chelsea standards. The atmosphere is very petite and cute and filled with a lovely aroma of truffle oil, that made me inclined to try their signature dry uni ramen next time. The staff are kind and overall, this was a pleasant experience! -- Food: +1 Presentation: E Price: E Atmosphere: +1 Service: +1 Menu: +1 Overall: +4 A IG: @amei.eats

Food (5/5) - I came here last 3 years ago and am happy to report that the quality has been just as good! Broth is rich but smooth / no residue, the chili oil / paste adds a savoury kick to the noodles. I'm a stickler for noodle texture and this was borderline soft, I usually prefer them with a fresher bite. Egg is soft-boiled, chashu has been marinated through and is melt in your mouth. Ambiance (4/5) - Cozy and cute, has nice yellow lights reminiscent of lantern light and a counter-serve Japanese restaurant. Tables can get a little close especially for larger groups. Service (5/5) - Prompt and polite, they came by a few times to check on our food. They aren't pushy but place does turn over quite quickly. Price (4/5) - 20+ for a bowl of noodles without additions, desserts are around 10, and sodas are 8-10. Portions were decent, I finished my bowl and was happily full.

Incredible ramen. Service was very good and fast, price was decent and food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

Solid, no frills ramen spot with quick service. I had the spicy pork bone ramen and my friend had the veggie ramen. I got the chili paste oil on the side to control the spice level. We both added it to our ramen and it was perfect. The broth was creamy and delicious. The pork seemed like very good quality meat. My friend thinks veggie ramen can be a hit or miss and said it was a hit here. The space is smaller with a few tables for two, bar/counter seating, and one longer table that seats either a larger group or serves as a communal table. Full table service but with a quick in and out vibe. They don't have a winter vestibule enclosure outside like most NYC restaurants and the place is small so every time the door opened, we felt a big rush of wind/cold air which overall was minor but pretty annoying. Would recommend!

The service was fantastic and vibes were super chill m but sadly the ramen didn't live up to the hype seems like a neighborhood spot if you're in a pinch but not a ramen destination spot.

Nice restaurant. Tried their ramen this time. It was good but a bit too rich for me. The sweet potato fries were reeally good, but just expected something more like roasted potato chunks. Overall I think I just really liked the uni mazemen I got in the past, and would probably stick to that.

The ramen itself is quite good. An indulgent delight of fatty, unctuous, meaty, and umami broth. The noodles are al dente perfection. Firm, chewy, and the ideal foil to the richness of the broth. Though as sumptuous as the ramen is, the service is begrudgingly rigid and unaccommodating. The ramen is as almost as good as Hide-Chan or Totto, but the service could use improvement.

My coworker and I came here for lunch on a Friday. It's right on 9th Ave, which was very close to our office and convenient. We were pleasantly surprised to see they had outside seating but it was pretty hot so we opted for indoor seating. They don't have many seats inside but it was fine since they weren't too busy at the time we went. We both opted for spicy ramen: I chose the spicy pork bone and my friend chose the spicy miso. They were both delicious and came out very quickly. I will definitely be stopping by next time I want some ramen at the office.

Came here for quick dinner and got vegetarian ramen and it was delicious, the broth was creamy and loved the sour cabbage that gave it more flavor and ofc the giant fried mushroom. Service was friendly and food came fast, the space was intimate but had ample seating nice for small parties and couples

Uni Mushroom Dry Ramen with Chashu

The Uni Mushroom Dry Ramen is truly an incredible bowl of noodles. The egg noodles were delicious and cooked to a perfect chewy consistency. All the other ingredients perfectly complemented each other and each was really tasty individually, especially the mushrooms and pancetta. The truffle oil added a great truffle flavor and sophistication to the dish, while the fried shallots added some crunchier texture. The parmesan added some creaminess and cheesiness to top things off. I also added chashu pork for $3 and it was tender and delicious as well. All of this is to say that I was in umami heaven. This was well worth the $27 ($24 + $3 for the chashu pork). My only complaint was that there was only one piece of uni there. I also tried a regular ramen bowl with broth, which was tasty as well. It's kind of a small place but there is a nice interior with seating both inside and outside. The service speed was fast and our waitress was friendly and attentive. Overall, if you have any interest in noodles, you simply must try this dry noodle dish at Jun-Men Ramen Bar - might be the best noodle bowl you will get in NYC.

This is the ultimate subtle flex spot. Like you eat ramen but I eat better ramen spot. All the ingredients are simple but executed perfectly, no fancy dress up of the food. The restaurant was small and only sits about 15 people at most with adds into the vibe of the spot. Service was extremely fast and they were attentive throughout the dinner. 3 noodles and 2 orders of pork buns came out to about $130.

A cute place for casual meal with friends in Chelsea! I ordered a pork bone to try a classic and was pretty satisfied with it. The broth was flavorful without being too salty, which is something I take note of, as so many places have really salty broths and I always have to drink so much water while eating! The pork slices were kind of thin and I felt that there weren't enough when eating the ramen, and kind of wished they gave just... one.. more slice.. to make it perfectly balanced. The noodles were a bit more cooked than my usual preferences, but still pretty good overall. Pork buns were a littler overpriced but still enjoyed it! Tip: The bathroom inside is kind of camouflaged b/c of the wallpaper but it's at the LEFT of the kitchen! I made the mistake of just going to the open area and it was the kitchen...

The spot is special (literally, you head below street level to get in), which somehow makes it feel even more like a NYC secret you're in on. Small, cozy, dimly lit in the best way, and staffed by people who are genuinely warm. We started with the tempura sweet potato fries and dumplings, both of which disappeared off the table fast. I went with the shio truffle ramen homemade chicken broth, homemade chicken chashu, half ajitama, bean sprouts, menma, shiso, truffle paste, and nori and it was easily one of the best bowls I've had in the city. The truffle paste takes it from "great ramen" to "why haven't I been here sooner," and the homemade chashu is so tender it practically melts before you even chew. Five bowls at the table, five very happy campers. Bonus: it's a quick stroll from Central Park, so pair a bowl here with an afternoon in the park for a genuinely great NYC day. The servers are always attentive, ready to answer questions, and quick to refill waters whenever they notice your glass getting low. Food comes out quickly as well. Overall, Kin Ramen is a spot I find myself coming back to again and again whenever I'm craving a good bowl of ramen.

This spot delivers the kind of authentic paitan that reminds you why people used to line up on cold sidewalks just for a bowl. I ordered the Paitan Ramen Deluxe, and it genuinely lives up to the name. The broth is silky, rich, and comforting without being overly salty which is exactly what a proper paitan should be. The bowl comes loaded: tender shredded chicken, seared chashu, marinated soft-boiled eggs, fresh scallions, bamboo shoots, and a sheet of nori that ties everything together. Every topping tastes intentional, not just filler. The texture balance is what really stands out fatty chashu that melts, shredded chicken with real flavor, and noodles that hold up beautifully in the broth. You can taste the care in the soup base; it has depth, not just heat or salt. If you loved Totto Ramen back in the day, this feels like its modern successor same spirit, new precision.
