Did not advise of "emergency" pricing until after the job. Anything on a weekend is considered an emergency.

Our first experience with Plumbums was excellent - we had an emergency issue, Jim was able to come…read moreout within an hour or two and get it fixed, and he was on his way. When our pipes froze during the big storm this January (thankfully, without water in them), we decided to hire Plumbums again. That didn't go as well. Quality of work: The fixes Jim suggested (a series of individual junction fixes) seemed reasonable for the repairs needed, but in some cases replacing whole sections would have been more time- and cost-efficient (according to other plumbers we've had in our home who have seen the work done). And we needed four return visits within our first three days living in the house to address issues that had not been resolved or that popped up as soon as we turned systems on. One problem (heat running constantly on our first floor, making the house over 80 degrees in the winter) was unresolved until I researched possible causes myself and communicated that to Jim, who sent out one of his guys to implement the fix. Professionalism: We were frustrated by the lack of care shown toward our property. Jim's guys left plumbing debris (not just the stuff our homeowner's insurance requested, but just straight-up trash), food trash, and drywall dust in our basement and living areas. This means that the first thing we had to do after driving 3,200 miles to move in was clean up after them. Drywall was removed roughly in several locations, and although patching was not included in the estimate, the cuts themselves appeared unnecessarily sloppy (and our new plumber neatly cuts and replaces drywall as a matter of course, leaving the mudding to us, which is fine). Plumbums did work well with our insurance company to get our claim handled, and ultimately we have working plumbing. But our experience wasn't great.

Beautiful materials, friendly people, took a little on the long side but I was glad in the long run. I would highly recommend to other people as opposed to a certain unprofessional Danbury-based oil company that got us into the repair mess in the first place. Thanks, Reliable! Great job!

The company should be called UNRELIABLE Heating. I had an appointment for over a week to add…read morecoolant (R410-A) to my AC system that was leaking. The technician called the day before my appointment and said he could not charge (add coolant) to the system because it was illegal to add more to a leaking system. This is a blatant lie... While the EPA banned R22 coolant, the R410-A I have is completely legal to add. The Company diagnosed a leak but I did not have the over $2,000 to fix it right now given the COVID crisis. Both the technician and the owner Rick had the nerve to question whether or not I have the means to spend the $2,000. The Company had added coolant the last 2 years without issue. I mentioned that my son has asthma and it would take a while to get another appointment. When I finally spoke the rude owner Rick he said it was "not worth his time" to just add the coolant and he hung up on me. I was absolutely shocked by how rude both the technician and the owner were. Their website states....."Reliable Heating takes our responsibility of service very serious! When it's cold and your heat isn't working or it's hot and your air-conditioning needs repair, we will be there for you!" THEY WERE NOT THERE FOR ME!!
