They saved us a LOT of money. We had thought that we would need to replace our entire A/C handler because it seemed to be leaking. The technicians who came by didn't just analyze the A/C unit itself; they checked our vents around the house as well. They determined that the source of the water was due to most of the vents being closed, thus making the air handler work harder and freeze itself. This company was AWESOME. My A/C central air unit is about 3 years old. I wanted to have the compressor outside my unit cleaned. I called AIR Specialties and the process was flawless. From the time I placed the call (Wendy and Bob) until the day Pete came out to do the cleaning. I will certainly use them again. I'm just trying to decide if I want to purchase a contract. It has nothing to do with the company it's just me dragging my feet. You know the ole saying you don't need it until you wish your purchased the contract. Certainly if I purchase a contract it will be with AIR Specialties. What I'm not on the fence about is using this company again. I say give them a try and you will not be disappointed. I've had my furnace for 23 years and did my own servicing (nozzle/filters/adjusting electrodes). I purchased a proper vacuum to clean the heat exchanger every 7 or 8 years. Every time I did vacuum there was little to no soot. Only once before did I have the service done by someone else and mainly to have the CO2 levels checked and adjusted. So I call these guys last month to have it checked out again even though it's been fine. I also had a coupon. The technician Pete came and changed the filters and nozzle. He told me that my electrodes were cooked and if I wanted he can change them "on the side" for $100 because the company would charge me much more. I knew they were the originals (I never changed them in 20 years) and wasn't sure how much they costed so I went ahead and did it....... About 3 weeks later, my neighbor mentions that my chimney is putting out black smoke. I check on the furnace. The 1st thing I see is a small puddle of oil under the oil pump. The technician had stripped one of the 4 screws for the pump filter. Then when I take the head out, the electrodes are either the originals or other old ones. The nozzle is also the wrong one but new. It uses a .60 70b and he put a .65 70b which is not that big of a deal but the electrodes were set wrong causing the black smoke. The electrode to nozzle spec on mine is 7/16" but he that is set about 1/4". So I ended up getting replacement screws for the oil pump, new electrodes and the furnace is running good. I now have to clean about a 1/4" of soot from my furnace and pipes now which I never had to do until hiring an incompetent POS thief who burned me for an extra $100. Even though the technician Pete (and myself for the shady deal) IMO are the main causes of all this, the company is the ones that hired him and to me are partly to blame. A piece of garbage like that couldn't of passed any background checks. And the company is responsible for putting those people in our houses. I didn't want to call the company to explain because of the "side deal" and will take that $300 service call lose as a lesson learned- to always do everything yourself. The $100 I will collect from the technician himself as I know the shop in West Haven (could not find him there last week but will check back) and got his last name/address from one of his previous employers I just contacted. read more

There comes a time in everyone's life when we have to make decisions on who we are and what we want to represent to the world. In both our professional and personal lives we must stand for something and stand behind something with integrity and honor. I hired this company to repair my boiler as the previous owner had a service contract with them so I found it only right to keep it. Recently my boiler has been experiencing problems so I called the company I could trust. Their fee is $179 to have the technician come to repair the boiler in addition to parts and additional repair time. As a business they are entitled to charge whatever fee they want and as a consumer I can accept or look elsewhere. I decided to accept but I asked that they simply not "turn the boiler on" but repair the boiler. Prior to hiring them I asked that the technician fix the issue. Not simply turn on the boiler temporarily at a fee of $179. Let me make one thing crystal clear I am in no way expecting everything to be repaired for $179 I was expecting and willing to accept additional charges for parts and the technicians work. But what I did not expect was for the technician to turn on the boiler and for it to stop working three hours later. My conversation with the technician was that my boiler is fairly new 2017 and there was two parts that needed to be replaced. The technician assured me that his work would keep the boiler running and the parts that needed to be replaced were to prevent the boiler from failing in its entirety. Three hours after the technician left the boiler stopped working. I called the office and left a voicemail. I informed them that the boiler as well as the hot water was not working and I waited for a return called. Unfortunately my illness was triggered by the extreme cold and I was hospitalized that evening. When I called the office back a day later I was told that I had to pay another $179 for the technician to return to "fix" the boiler again all this while they work on invoicing and ordering the parts that I needed. I know I'm from a different time when integrity was more dominant, and people backed their workmanship with guarantees. So maybe I was foolish to expect the work performed by this company to last at least 24 hours. And maybe I was naïve to assume that the company would stand behind their work for at least 24 hours. While I understand this review will do nothing in the grand scheme of things I hope that whomever reads this understands that there is more to life then charging customers over and over again for work that did not last even 5 hours. They have my payment in full while I am without. Ask yourself is $179 a fair price to pay for three hours of heat in this economy? I'm in a home without heat or hot water at this rate and the workmanship preformed by this company a "repair" lasting only three hours would cost me $1,432 a day. Called for an AC service. They were super friendly and had an opening for next day service. This was great because summer heat was already starting to kick in and I was worried about having to wait weeks for an appointment. I got a courtesy call when the tech was on the way. 20 minutes later, tech arrived with clean appearance and friendly attitude. Service took approximately 45 minutes. Coils in furnace and AC cleaned, air filter replaced, refrigerant temps checked and outside unit serviced to remove any dirt. $199 all in, perfectly reasonable. Overall, a good experience and I look forward to using them again. read more

Let me start by saying I am soooo happy that I listened to my family when they said call Air Specialties. My family has been using them for years, me, well Im cheap always looking for bargains. My ac stopped working, I called another company who came out & said I need a new unit, my unit is 4 yrs old. Another company came out and told me to repair the unit would be $2,000. I said to the guy I have a 10yr warranty & he said I still have to pay for the part and labor and then have the manufacturer re-imburse me. I don't think so. Took my familys advice, called Air Specialties. They really listened and got a Tech out the same day. My ac unit needed one part that was under warranty & I just paid the labor. Absolute worst, I'm going to have to take them to court to recoup my losses. They diagnosed the problem, threw some parts at it and it didn't fix it. They did this 3 more times and still nothing. When I called Bob Bradley the owner to try and work something out because I was paying them and I was still without heat or hot water in the middle of winter for more than 3 weeks it took him another week to call me back. I finally hired another company to come out and fix it. It took them 20 minutes and cost $140. I was already in 3 weeks and $1100 to air specialties for nothing......See you in court A!@#holes read more

Very low quality work. Our A/C stopped working & we called Air Specialties. Their technician arrived & diagnosed that the circuit board was bad. They charged us the flat rate fee plus a trip charge plus an installation fee. The circuit board was replaced and technician left. A few days later the new board broke. I called Air Specialties but was told no one was available. I called another company which came right out. This technician noted that while Air Specialties had replaced the board, they hadn't cleared the clogged drain line which had led to water backing up and ruining the first one. Consequently it had happened again. This technician provided another new circuit board and checked the system for about 1/3 the cost of my previous Air Specialties cost. I will never call Air Specialties again. read more

Very poor customer service and lack of accountability from the owner, Bob Bradley. On 01/27/22, I contacted Air Specialties to help with a furnace issues in which our furnace randomly stopped working. Just to add, our furnace is newer and was purchased in 2014. An Air Specialties tech named Mike came out who was very friendly. He diagnosed the problem being a possible Gas Valve issue. I received a call that the part arrived on 01/28. Mike installed the Gas Valve but he mentioned that it should not take 3 cycles for the furnace to finally push out the heat. Mike sat down trying to figure the issue out for a few hours but was unable to have the furnace run at it's full potential and kick on right away. In total, I paid $1,345. Labor was $1,000 and the part was $345. Prior to installing the Gas Valve we were informed that it should only take an hour. Given the initial diagnostic and install, most of the time was spent just looking at the issue and YouTubing the issue without any result. On 03/01, the furnace was no longer turning on again so I called Air Specialties back requesting them take a look at the furnace with the possibility of a more senior HVAC to figure out the issue which caused the furnace to turn on after 3 times since 01/28 and now on 03/01 running through all 4 cycles and then turning off without producing heat. HVAC Mike and Jim checked the furnace and informed me to contact our propane company. I was informed to contact the propane company to increase the propane inlet on the gas line which is what Mike and Jim believed was the problem and the furnace not getting enough gas to spark on. I called our propane company and they came out and checked the gas inlet and I was informed that enough gas is getting into the home to spark the furnace up. I requested our propane company to do what was recommended and increase the gas inlet. The propane HVAC then increased the propane to its highest amount and the furnace still would not turn on. The propane company then changed the propane regulator on the tanks outside and the furnace still would not turn on. The propane company then began to assess the gas valve to see if it was installed and adjusted properly. The propane HVAC then adjusted a small black screw on the left far side of the Gas Valve that was installed by Air Specialties on 01/28 and the furnace turned on and began to work properly on the first cycle. The propane HVAC then informed me that the Gas Valve was installed correctly but was not adjusted correctly by Air Specialties to allow the proper flow of gas for the furnace to work properly. Since 03/01, I have been going back and forth with Air Specialties seeing what can be done to rectify the situation since we paid $1,000 in labor to Air Specialties and then had to now pay our propane company. I requested multiples times to speak with the owner Bob Bradley but never received a call back. This company never took ownership and/or responsibility in the thought that maybe the Gas Valve was not adjusted and was only willing to place blame on the propane company despite me witnessing the simple adjustment on the Gas Valve that led to our heat working perfectly again prior to ever calling Air Specialties on 01/27. I wish the job was done right the first time and I also wish that we didn't spend countless dollars on unnecessary labor costs as well as now being left with a bill from our propane company who adjusted the Gas Valve to fixed the entire situation. The owner is horrible for not willing to hear his customer out after spending $1,340 + $320 (propane bill) = $1,660 when the job should have been $345 (part) + $510 TOPS for a few hours of labor which includes diagnostics and installing/ADJUSTING THE GAS VALVE correctly. doubt I'll ever get it. read more

They gave me a quote of $179, and told me they would call before they went above that. They called to say it was more like $350, and I told them to hold off. The "technician" explained he had already done the work, and I said it was way over but he said he was actually "throwing in" several hours of extra work for free. He said he wouldn't turn the boiler back on until I paid, so I did. One week later, I got a call to say they hadn't repaired it properly the first time and the gas company turned it off and wouldn't turn it back on until repaired, so they fixed it properly and billed me another $350. I told them they couldn't do that - I hadn't authorized the work, and I wouldn't rehire them if they couldn't fix it the first time for 2x the estimate. We fought back and forth, and ultimately Sue just got on the phone and lied, saying she "now remembers" that we had spoken and I had authorized the work. She is a liar and will have to live with herself. She took my money. Don't give her yours. read more

This company robs you. They tell you that they have a $150+ tax diagnosis fee. Fine, I was desperate. However, I told the technician PRIOR to coming to look at my AC unit that they would need a ladder to get to the compressor. He gets to the restaurant and tells my employee that he needs a second technician to help him with a ladder to get on the roof, that parking is ridiculous and he needs to come back during the week, and CHARGES us the diagnosis fee just to tell us that. Complete BS. I wont be scheduling a damn thing with them after that crap. read more

Never using them again; my husband and I spent over $800 on services within 2 days (back to back). Both times they claimed to fix our air conditioner and within hours of them leaving the air conditioner broke. My husband finally gave up and watched a YouTube video and was able to fix the air conditioner himself. How sad is that?! He saw that they actually wired everything incorrectly. What a scam. What what a ripoff! I called to fix a leak in my central air unit. It was important to have it done quickly because I have a newborn at home. They came right out. After being at my home for about a hr they told me I needed a whole new system for 5 to 6k. They were not certain where the leak was and said it was probably in the coil.I paid them $240.00 Before I was to give them 6k for a new system I decided to get a 2nd opinion with someone I know. All they did was pop t he cover open locate the leak and they repaired it a few hours. I just saved $5,500! I decided to call the owner and ask for a refund. Never received a call back. So I called again and was told to expect someone at my home the following day. I took off work early came home to meet the guy...and instead he calls me asking all kinds of questions like I'm supposed to be an AC specialist...questions that you get the answer to by coming out and seeing the job site...you could just tell he didn't feel like coming out. On top of it he begins quoting ridiculous things over the phone 5,000 for a wall unit or over 3-4,000 for zoning without even seeing the job because he can't be bothered with me if the job could cost less!
