Decided to try this place for the first time after seeing the social media hype. The decor, ambiance, and staff are welcoming and my waitress was attentive. I had a glass of Passionfruit Mimosa and the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict with Fried Green Tomatoes. Guess I should've rushed to drink my mimosa because a Fly decided to take a swim in it! Folk art is GREAT. I've been here now at least 5 times in their Decatur location, mostly for breakfast, but I came for lunch once, and every time I have not been disappointed with anything I've ordered. I'll focus on my last visit and what I got at that time. Huevos rancheros: $13.99 Sweet potato Beignets: $6.99 Coffee: $3.75 I sat outside on a chilly morning, but don't worry, they do have outside heat for their tables. It was very busy so it took me a while to even get served, so there could be a bit of a delay, fyi. The Huevos rancheros actually weren't my first choice, but they became a great choice when the plate hit the table. The serving size was great, and the bright colors on the rancheros matched the bright flavors. You can order your eggs how you like so I had my scrambled with cheese. Every bite is great, except maybe the last bite because your experience is over. But yep, try this dish! The Sweet potato beignets are beautiful, almost too pretty to eat.....almost! I kinda thought they would be much more dense but they were more light and fluffy. Packed with cinnamon and covered with powdered sugar, you can eat them as they are and be happy with their flavors. They come with a syrup to drizzle, dip or however you apply your syrup, but you don't need it. Coffee is limitless, so they'll keep bringing you cups as long as you ask. Located off of ponce de leon, Folk art is just a few steps away from Decatur Square. Like most Decatur visits, it's tough to find a parking spot. If you're lucky, there are parking spots directly across from Folk art. There are several lots around the city though so you may have to walk a bit to get your good food. Either way it's worth it! Customer service, at least everytime I've visited, has been just fine. Staff have been helpful with selection recs, and they always seem genuinely happy that you're there. Long overdue in my review, but one of the rare 5 stars I'll give out to a restaurant. Give these guys a shot, or try out their Inman park location if Decatur is too far. I had visited Folk Arts location in Inman Park and loved it, so I decided to visit the Decatur Square location. When we arrived, there's plenty of parking around and Folk Art will give you a discounted rate for the parking deck attached. We visited on a Saturday around noon and there was about a 30 min wait but there's plenty of shops in Decatur Square to check out (we got coffee at Dancing Goats down the street!). The inside is really cute, a bigger space and different vibe than the Inman Park location. I also really liked that when we were seated, a manager came by and asked if we were ok with our table! We had fried Mac and cheese votes to start, and tried the eggs Benedict (both crab cake and sausage versions were delicious), Southern Comfort, waffles, and the Roasted Pork and Chili Verde. We also had a couple mimosa carafes which were a pretty good deal. Overall, love both locations and definitely making this a regular brunch staple! read more

Located in Poncey-Highland right past Inman park. It's a place for brunch so it closes at around 2pm. There was almost no wait time which was great because some places have insane wait times. I don't think you could make reservations but I'm not totally sure of that. -Parking. Very easy as they have a parking lot on the side of the restaurant and also there's street parking all around. -Food. I could eat the French toast with the peanut butter drizzle everyday of the week. They have many options on their menu. The turkey sausage was also really good. -Ambiance. It isn't big inside but also not small. It has an outdoorsy feel to it and the staff is great. There is plenty of seating, tables and booths. I even think I saw a small bar area to sit. Definitely one of my favorite places to go, strongly recommend. read more

I do understand my order was an Uber eats order but STILL!!!! All I ordered was bacon and rye toast, that ended up costing me $17! I got 4 pieces of frozen cold over cooked, DRY bacon and one piece of bread cut into a triangle, (2 slices). Although your customers are not dining in, you should take care of them just as well if not better, since people are paying extra to eat your food and have it delivered. More care needs to go into that and consideration!!!! read more

Well, the server Auden was great. The food, however, well...a swing and a miss would've been better. The chicken was dry and flavorless. My omelette was missing half of the ingredients they were sure to charger us for. The french toast was extra crispy. They were out of Coke. The passion fruit mimosa didn't taste like anything at all. Folk art has been a staple in my brunch rotation for years. Their consistent customer service and quality of food is unmatched! We went for a post church brunch and it did not disappoint. Even at their busiest, the wait was no more than 20 minutes. There is a variety of seating options with outdoor, indoor and bar seating. The ambiance of the Decatur location fits perfectly with the area: family friendly yet young and lively with a hint of rustic charm. We got the Foul Play and Shrimp Po Boy and it did not disappoint. At first my impressions of the food and place were 4 due to hype, but after thinking about the price, experience, and food, it's a 3. I had the lobster rolls with the mac and cheese as the side. While the hubs had the huevos rancheros. The lobster rolls were good, but they weren't amazing. There were two rolls served on what looked like a thick slice of bread. I say this because it was hard to keep the food from tumbling off. The "lobster" was served cold and in clumps. There was a slight sauce flavoring with the lobster as well. Upon closer examination, these clumps of lobster actually looked like other meats (like fake crab) were mixed in. The texture also didn't look uniform. So that makes more sense why you'd get two. The mac and cheese was pretty good. The bottom was slightly scorched like it was cooked on a griddle to add more flavors. Though overall this was good, it wasn't the best nor cheesiest. Average is where it's at. The huevos rancheros were interesting. The fried egg seemed to be the main filler for this dish as the pork chili was more chili and other flavors than anything else. Overall, this was a good pick with the crispy tortillas being as advertised with avocado pieces and crumbled queso dressing the tortillas nicely. I guess my reasoning for not staying at 4 stars was due to my food not being specified that it's not truly 100% lobster. It was just too good to be true for the cost (TWO for $15.99). And thanks for not informing me of the side up charge. I'm willing to pay for the more premium side, but the fact that this and the lobster details weren't disclosed made it seem like they were trying to squeeze more money. I just don't like business practices like this. I get it. You don't have to mention that restaurants are suffering during this pandemic. But, a little disclosure or appropriate menu labeling isn't an outrageous ask. Plus, the food wasn't as amazing as we thought or had hoped so that was another big reasoning. read more

You know, I didn't like this Folk Art as much as I did the other one in Inman park. I thought the staff was amazing at Inman Park and they may have set the bar a little high but nevertheless we decided to try this location instead! Table wait was about 45 minutes like they told us which wasn't bad for a Saturday at peak brunch time. We order a mimosa carafe that was great per usual! Much better deal to get the carafe than order individual mimosas. Someone else at our table got their spicy Bloody Mary and said it was amazing! For food, we started off with the appetizer of fried Mac and cheese, and in my opinion it was disappointing. Kind of just okay given the price. Next, I decided to branch out from the omelet I got last time and I tried the Folk Southern Fried. Maybe I don't like gravy as much as I used to but the gravy was way overwhelming. I should have kept it more simple as this dish was just okay. Still keeping it a 4 star review because everyone else at the table enjoyed their food but might want to try something else! I came here for my friend's 25th birthday brunch. It was decent. We had to wait for about 15 minutes due to the fact that they don't take any reservations. This was fine because we were able to take photos with the nice murals around the place. Once we got seated, they sat us in the back near the kitchen and restrooms. It was okay at first, but started to annoyed me because they kept slamming down these plates above my head. Yet they apologized and it was kosher onwards, especially because the food came! First time at this location and I prefer the Inman Park after going. My parents and I came in on a busy Thursday afternoon, and we were able to seat ourselves. I prefer having someone seat me but that's my personal thing. There weren't many tables available, so we chose the only one that was. It hadn't been cleaned yet, so as soon as another table became available we went for it. There was a bit of a draft near the original even more reason to change our seats. As for food I had the turkey melt but opted for cheddar Jack cheese and it was pretty good. I also had the champagne punch and it was very refreshing. My parents had the complete breakfast and steak and eggs. They enjoyed their food as well. My dad did think the hot chocolate was watered down too much for his liking. The special of salmon eggs Benedict was huge--two muffins, two Benedicts. Fully customizable--adding green tomatoes added a unique kick to the flavors. The famous fried chicken on two biscuits with gravy was seriously the highlight of my Atlanta trip. Never liked any of the above mentioned ingredients, so tasting all of them in the most mind blowing combination on earth blew my mind. Changed my world! Now I understand what the hype over southern hospitality is all about! The portion was HUGE. The gravy had plenty of meat chunks in it. The chicken was so delicate and the batter so flavorful and shockingly light. Get this dish if you don't want to have lived your life in vain! Fired green tomatoes were bland, came frozen- cook to order. The blue cheese crumbles got me lost. It took several minutes for someone to come and greet and serve me. An assistant came and took my order. I ordered the Corner Store Reuben with a side of chili. The sandwich was made up of bits and pieces of overcooked corned beef. The bread was drenched in butter and did not taste fresh. I had to send the chili back because it was not hot. No one checked up nor checked back on me. They were doing their own thing. They offer some brunch cocktails that look great, but I stuck with the old standard of black coffee (my cup never dropped below half). You can order anything that suits your fancy. From a traditional breakfast to crab cake bennies to chicken and waffles. I chose the Southern Comfort, which is shrimp and grits topped with two eggs, any style. DELICIOUS! Thought had reviewed them when they opened and would have given them 5 stars, thus the photos from 3 years ago, however, on April 16, I had the crab cakes eggs Benedict (not pictured) and though they were good I keep saying they have an off taste. The crab turned out to be bad. As soon as I got in the car my stomach was gurgling. Thank goodness I live close by and will spare you the details. 10 years ago I and started eating at the Inman Park location and was thrilled when this downtown Decatur location opened. I ordered religiously during the Pandemic. Always good service so imma give them credit for that and hope they don't allow this to occur again to someone and find the source of the bad crab and not order from them again or check to make sure it's not bad. read more

I have been to the original Folk Art many times in the past several years and have always loved the food. I also wished for many years that they would consider opening one in Decatur, and now they have done just that! I went to the newest location today (it is in the old Thumbs Up Diner, which was next to the old Ruby Tuesday's). When we arrived I immediately felt the same vibe as the original, but with more seating. the menu items are the same as the other location. I have to admit that I worried about the food quality/taste may have been different and I was not let down at all. The food (I had shrimp and grits). The food and the service was top notch as always. Pretty good food. I ordered the cinnamon sticky bun pancakes and I really like the sweet potato waffle. I also ordered an omelet. Healthy portion served. I don't think I'd order the omelet again because it was more eggs than I thought I could eat but it was pretty good. Kinda pricey because you pay for each additional topping (ex; if you want cheese, meat, vegetables). I also had the Hospitali-Tea pretty good. Didn't regret would order again. My cousin had a burger that came with no cheese although he was expecting some. He said the burger was still good and didn't ruin his experience. My girlfriend had a grill cheese with fries. After business in Atlanta, decided to stop at this brunch. Floored by the level of quality of the food this morning. The short rib grits were absolutely show stopper, southern born and raised, these grits are rich with a hefty serving of short rib garnished with colorful charred carrots, second winner is the waffle, a fluffy decadent waffle full of flavors resembling sweet potato pie nothing else need but a smidge of whipped cream to lighten up the richness. Hands down will tell everyone I know about this fun spot and will be a recurring customer. Great breakfast spot in downtown Decatur in a older building. The atmosphere reminded me of yesteryear. Great decor, sit at the bar or along the sidewalks outdoors- it's seat yourself. Service was slow but I will blame the post-Covid work environment. I settled on the complete breakfast and my friend had the Eggs Benedict. It was a lot of food and very well prepared. The grits were the best I have ever had in the south. I am not sure what type of grits they were but it had a few kernels of corn in them. Great place to dine by yourself, with family or with a group. They have a great bar menu. I had a mimosa with my breakfast. Breakfast is served all day. They also had some tasty looking lunch items.
