The crust is crispy, and the dough underneath the cheese and toppings was also crispy without being too thick. Everything here comes in huge portions and is definitely meant for sharing. Their salad literally looks like a mountain on a plate, and even the bread and butter portions are generous. You really get so much for your money here. Definitely worth the buck! Tried Folks Pizzeria in Costa Mesa after hearing a lot of hype, but unfortunately, I didn't really see what the big deal was. I ordered the Margherita pizza and Caesar salad. The salad was actually really good, but the pizza was a letdown. It felt like there was more bread and burnt crust than anything else, and overall it just wasn't very enjoyable. On top of that, the service wasn't particularly friendly, especially considering this was just a takeout order. That definitely didn't help the overall experience. For a $50 meal, I don't feel like it was worth it. I don't think I'd go out of my way to come back. There are plenty of other spots I'd rather spend that money on. read more

Nice spot in the camp. Love the vibe and really nice service. As for the food, we got an arancini and the fennel sausage pizza. The arancini was okay. I wasn't the biggest fan. The texture on the outside was nice, but the flavor of the inside didn't really have much, and a little bit boring. The sauce is really necessary to make it work. As for the pizza, off the rip it looks really good. I love the crust and the texture again, great under carriage. I do feel the crust and toppings aren't distributed well, where one slice has a huge section of crust and like two sausages, while another one would be the perfect slice with a filled pizza and good proportions. We had just got done with a South Coast shopping trip and really wanted something to eat. I had heard about Folks a while back and decided this was our time to finally try it. Folks Pizza is hands down my favorite pizza spot in OC. The pizza is absolutely delicious and perfectly crispy crust with really flavorful, high-quality toppings that make every bite worth it. It can take a while to get a table, so I definitely recommend planning ahead. The food was delicious as always, and the staff has always been nice, friendly, and welcoming. However, during our visit yesterday, we were disappointed with our experience. Our waitress got our order wrong, and she never wrote anything down. We ordered both dine-in and takeout, and unfortunately, the takeout order was incorrect. When we told her that this was not what we had ordered, both my husband and I were surprised and frustrated because we clearly remembered what we had requested. Dropped by while we were in the neighborhood. 45 minute wait for a party of 2 at around 6:30 on a Wednesday evening. The crust/dough here is solid. Lots of flavor and crisp textures. I would recommend making a reservation in advanced as this place does get super packed, even on a weekday. Their oven does hold about 8 pizzas, so there will be an estimated wait time given to you by the waiter/waitress. Our wait time was about 30-40 minutes. Huge fan of this place. We tried the fennel sausage pizza, mushroom pizza, and the free range chicken wings. They use sourdough for the pizza and that immediate caught my attention for the uniqueness. That, and the fact there's a line outside almost every day. The pizzas are also large at 14 inches and are cut at six pieces each. The wings had an immediate strong smell from the Italian fish sauce but they were amazing. We ended up devouring everything. The place itself is rather small but there's plenty of seating, especially outside. The server was also very kind and attentive and helpful with any questions we had. Highly recommend getting a reservation in advance or else you'll be waiting for a while. When we arrived in time for our reservation, we got sat almost immediately. I recently came here with a friend of mine who knows how much I absolutely love pizza. She had to make reservations in advance because this place gets crowded very quickly. It's tucked away in a cute little area surrounded by other restaurants and bars. All the pizzas are one size and come with 6 slices per pizza. The customer service was great. Everyone was so nice. Getting to this spot can be difficult because the parking lot is small and tight. So plan ahead. Each pizza is about $32 each which is pretty pricey but they are very delicious. Extremely rude hostesses on 8/19. We were a party of 4 turned 5 because our friend who is a nurse was able to join us last minute. We asked them if they could add a chair to our table, we were the table that was secluded in the corner - not in a walkway or near any other table, and they told us no because there were no extras chairs available. However we noticed the table across from us were a 4 top but only 3 people seated there and they said we could use their chair. We told the host this and the host looked at our friend in scrubs and told her "you have to leave we cannot seat you". Even our waiter said it was fine if our friend sat with us. Again it was both hostesses working from 7-10-30pm on 8/19. Edit - Just saw another review from this week talking about the rude hostesses. If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. We had an 8:30 p.m. reservation for three people, but only two of us ended up coming. For some reason, that became an issue because they weren't sure where to seat us in case our third person showed up later--even though we repeatedly told them not to worry about it. As soon as we sat down, our waiter told us the kitchen would be closing soon and asked if we had any questions because we needed to order quickly. He even told us we had two minutes left to place our order. Since we knew the kitchen was closing, I ordered a pizza to go at the same time as the rest of our meal so it would be ready when we finished eating. We ordered the bread and labneh, wings, and three pizzas. The bread and labneh was the only thing we genuinely enjoyed. The wings had such a bad smell that we boxed them up immediately without eating them. The pizzas were disappointing as well--burnt, with toppings that didn't taste fresh. To make matters worse, our two dine-in pizzas came out at different times. After we finished eating, paid our bill, and packed our leftovers, we waited for the to-go pizza that had been ordered when we first sat down. We were repeatedly told, "Just three more minutes." Then someone else explained there was a "cooling process" for the pizza and that's why there was a delay. At that point, we had already finished our meal, paid, and were simply sitting around waiting for an order that should have been ready. I asked to speak with a manager. A staff member walked over to who I assumed was the manager, and from where I was standing I could clearly see them talking about my daughter and me through the window. Eventually, a very kind employee came over, apologized, and politely explained the pizza process again but it didn't change the fact that we were still waiting. At this point I left informed enough about process that I can just go back to the kitchen and prepare my pizza. She also told us the manager was busy on the phone handling another situation. Based on how the evening had gone, I wasn't surprised. When the manager finally came over, we explained everything. His response was simply that it's normal for a pizza to take 30 minutes or more. I reminded him that I had intentionally ordered it when we placed our dinner order because we had been told the kitchen was closing in two minutes. I even had text messages to my son showing I had asked him what he wanted before placing the order. He then insisted the kitchen closed at 9:30, despite the fact that we had watched the kitchen being cleaned and shut down around 9:00. He showed absolutely no concern, offered no apology, and seemed genuinely confused about why I was upset after waiting 30-40 minutes for a pizza that should have been prepared while we were eating. I told him I wasn't going to argue with someone who couldn't see the problem. I let him know I'd be sharing my experience online and asked for his name. He proudly replied, "Logan," and seemed to welcome the review. Restaurants earn repeat customers through great food, great service, or ideally both. Unfortunately, this place delivered neither. Aside from the bread and labneh, the food was poor, the customer service was even worse, and the manager's complete lack of accountability was the final disappointment. I will never return, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. I also added photos to depicting the burnt crust hence the cooling process from the torching of the pizza and the basil that looked fried as well Mind you this is not our first time eating pizza out but definitely the last time at Folks!! As far as Logan and his handling of the situation he needs to go back to being a server, or take some hospitality training or fired!! I also want to note the smell of the chicken , I noticed other customers mentioned weird smell of the food. I think the food and health organization should be informed about their kitchen Hopefully this review will save people from going to this restaurant that really doesn't care or believe in customer service! A bit too overrated. I really was looking forward to this place after hearing about all the hype that went into this place based off social media posts that I've seen. We reserved for an 8:30pm knowing that it was going to be packed and surely enough, it was boomin with patrons. When we showed up, we were a bit early by about 20 minutes but I wanted to see what the wait time is for ordering to go instead since we didn't mind, soon finding out that the wait was roughly over an hour wait. Unsurprisingly, we decided to wait until we got the text for our table. However, despite the 8:30pm reservation, we ended waiting an almost additional 30 minutes anyways which was a bit upsetting, finally getting seated around 9:00pm. We were getting to the point where we wanted to leave not only because of how long we had to wait, but also recalling a disclaimer on their website noting how reservations are not guaranteed. We decided to still stay and eventually we got seated and decided to opt for the class margherita pizza and it was pretty shocking how expensive it was for a 13" neapolitan pizza ($30ish excluding tax and tip). After waiting about 30 minutes for our pizza, I was having such high expectations for what we were about to eat considering how long we had to wait and how popular this place is. Nevertheless, the service was fine and our waiter was friendly. When our pizza arrived, I was pretty baffled by the presentation of the pizza, immediately noticing how unaesthetic and burnt our pizza was as is seen in my photo. Never had I ever needed to take apart many of the slices to avoid the burnt parts. This is one of my top 3 pizzerias in the country. The hype is so real We started with the meatballs. They're made with pork so they taste more like Italian sausages than traditional meatballs. Love the slight sweetness. The soppressata pizza was perfectly executed. No notes. It looked bulky at first but I was surprised by how light and airy it was once I bit into it. All the components were flavorful, even the dough itself. We ended with the cheesecake. It was delicious and came with a huge chunk of caramel. Took us 3 days to finish because it was kinda heavy. Came here for date night. Made a reservation and we were seated pretty quickly. The place is very tiny and kinda loud. Not as good as I remember. Pizza is pricy. Pizza is very crunchy and a little too chewy for my liking. The Cesar salad is very yummy and huge too read more
