Worth a try! The pizza crust here is AMAZING. Light, airy, crispy, and maintains structure to hold up the delicious toppings. All the ingredients tasted super fresh! Started off with the meatballs. You MUST order the meatballs. Sauce is perfectly seasoned, and the bread that accompanies this dish is perfect. Can't go wrong with beef tallow fried fries and Caesar salad either! Also ordered their wings. I was intrigued by the "Italian fish sauce" that was listed as an ingredient. The wings are definitely a flavor bomb, but I wouldn't order them again. Personally, a bit too salty. Finished off with the "burnt" cheesecake. (They really love burning things here.). It was just okay. I'd pass on that. Our server was great, but some of the food runners were meh if you care about that sort of thing. If you haven't checked out Folks by now, you should.

Dropped by while we were in the neighborhood. 45 minute wait for a party of 2 at around 6:30 on a Wednesday evening. The crust/dough here is solid. Lots of flavor and crisp textures. I only wish they would place a rack between the pizza and platter so it doesn't sog out. Sausage and Market pizzas were our choices tonight. Loved the house made fennel sausage with aged mozz and basil. The Market is seasonal with fresh corn, Jimmy Nardellos and their bianco base. Lots of fresh/sweet pops of corn in each bite. Shout out to the fries that are also on the menu. Fried perfect and seasoned just right. Hints of garlic and herbs with a fun mustard aioli and ketchup on the side. Picked up their basque cheesecake to go. I declined the dulce de leche drizzle. I wish it was more burnt, but I happy to say that it did ooze slightly at room temperature.

I would recommend making a reservation in advanced as this place does get super packed, even on a weekday. Their oven does hold about 8 pizzas, so there will be an estimated wait time given to you by the waiter/waitress. Our wait time was about 30-40 minutes. Over the appetizers were decent, the lemon juice is strong on Caesar salad so it is more on the acidic side. I liked it tho. The pizzas were really good - it has a crunchy crust and thin dough. It was a good one time experience!

Heard about his place and walked by it a few times. Finally had the chance to get the team to visit this establishment for our dinner meeting. Food is good. Their pizza offering have a selection of white and red sauce options. when served hot, crust was good and flavor is as expected. Their bread and butter is exceptional! If you are going to get anything here, make this a priority. Caesar salad is also a great choice. The staff was attentive to our needs since we sat outside when the sun was setting. Had to hold the menu up to block the glare until the round thing settled. But to truly highlight the pizza, it was a bit on the greasy side and taste didn't yield anything of exceptional in terms of flavor or texture. Regardless, do not let my review deter you from trying this establishment as preferences with food varies. I just happen to be exposed to various types and styles of pizza. Within that hierarchy, this is decent by that standard and good for OC. Come try and judge for yourself. It's a fun environment. :)

Huge fan of this place. We tried the fennel sausage pizza, mushroom pizza, and the free range chicken wings. They use sourdough for the pizza and that immediate caught my attention for the uniqueness. That, and the fact there's a line outside almost every day. The pizzas are also large at 14 inches and are cut at six pieces each. The wings had an immediate strong smell from the Italian fish sauce but they were amazing. We ended up devouring everything. The place itself is rather small but there's plenty of seating, especially outside. The server was also very kind and attentive and helpful with any questions we had. Highly recommend getting a reservation in advance or else you'll be waiting for a while. When we arrived in time for our reservation, we got sat almost immediately. Also, parking is extremely tricky in this area so either arrive early go to valet to make it easy. After eating, it's fun to walk around the area to see the stores and breweries.

Good BUT so salty !! Idk if it was just the day we went. The chicken wings is coated in a yummy fish sauce but it was pretty salty. The pizza has a really good crust. Not sure if it was the pepperoni or the cheese but it was also very salty . Very busy on a Saturday afternoon so we opted to do take out! Took about 30 mins.

RATINGS: - caesar salad ($20) | 4/5 - refreshing and more lemon-forward than your typical caesar - free range chicken wings ($21) | 4.5/5 - if you love fish sauce like me then these are a MUST - fennel sausage pizza ($32) | 4/5 - sourdough crust = fluffy layer + perfect cronch in every bite. sausage is made in house and brings a savory punch - get a side of ranch to balance it all out PRO TIP: if you're going on the weekend, come a bit earlier to find parking and make a reservation to skip the wait

There was a lot of hype from friends about Folks, and I'm happy to announce that I was not disappointed. The do a family style and everything is big enough to share. Everything we ate was fantastic and I especially loved their version of a Caesar salad! Our server was absolutely wonderful too. He was working large parties inside and out and was still getting everything to us in a timely manner and even gave our friend a complimentary birthday dessert. Looking forward to another visit soon!

Thank god we had a reservation because the restaurant was small! Definitely could be a long wait if you go on the weekend. I went with my friends and got two pizzas to share: Fennel Sausage and Soppressata. My favorite was definitely the sausage because of how flavorful it was! Not sure what they put in the crust, but I had a sauce on the side I used to dip it.. phenomenal. The salad was a nice, refreshing touch to this entire thing. I can't wait for an excuse to come back!

A bit too overrated. I really was looking forward to this place after hearing about all the hype that went into this place based off social media posts that I've seen. We reserved for an 8:30pm knowing that it was going to be packed and surely enough, it was boomin with patrons. When we showed up, we were a bit early by about 20 minutes but I wanted to see what the wait time is for ordering to go instead since we didn't mind, soon finding out that the wait was roughly over an hour wait. Unsurprisingly, we decided to wait until we got the text for our table. However, despite the 8:30pm reservation, we ended waiting an almost additional 30 minutes anyways which was a bit upsetting, finally getting seated around 9:00pm. We were getting to the point where we wanted to leave not only because of how long we had to wait, but also recalling a disclaimer on their website noting how reservations are not guaranteed. We decided to still stay and eventually we got seated and decided to opt for the class margherita pizza and it was pretty shocking how expensive it was for a 13" neapolitan pizza ($30ish excluding tax and tip). After waiting about 30 minutes for our pizza, I was having such high expectations for what we were about to eat considering how long we had to wait and how popular this place is. Nevertheless, the service was fine and our waiter was friendly. When our pizza arrived, I was pretty baffled by the presentation of the pizza, immediately noticing how unaesthetic and burnt our pizza was as is seen in my photo. Never had I ever needed to take apart many of the slices to avoid the burnt parts. Even after trying it, the only thing that was noteworthy was the sourdough crust, which is unlike any other neapolitan I have had. The cheese and sauce were okay. All in all, I was very disappointed in my experience here enough to not warrant another visit.

Rating: 8.5/10 Second time at Folk's Pizzeria and it does not disappoint. Caesar Salad had big portions with crisp, fresh leaves and anchovies on top. Only knock is it could've used a bit more Caesar dressing, but other than that it was great. Fish sauce chicken wings were very pungent and tasty. Great choice for appetizer while waiting for your pies. Salami Cups Pizza was my favorite of the night. Salami crisps up perfectly, giving that salty bite in every slice. Crust is crispy, fresh, and made to order. This is the one to get. Truffle Fungi Pizza had really good flavor, but definitely on the heavier side. It was great for a couple slices, but hard to keep going after that. Pizzas took about ~30 minutes to come out, but quality made it worth the wait. One of the better pizza spots in OC!

Came here for date night. Made a reservation and we were seated pretty quickly. The place is very tiny and kinda loud. Not as good as I remember. Pizza is pricy. Pizza is very crunchy and a little too chewy for my liking. The Cesar salad is very yummy and huge too

    Michelle C.

Friends had treated me with this incredible pizza experience. The pizza bread can be made with sour dough and wow what an incredible difference that makes. The pizza is quite crunchy and thin which is one of my favorite kind of pizza. I only take out one star because the restaurant took longer to make the pizza than expected. My friends had ordered takeout at a particular time and it took 30 min longer than what was originally promised. The ingredients of the food are noticeably fresh. I get the sense that this is elevated pizza hahaha The salad was crunchy and adds the nice balance to the pizza God bless you all+

Is this considered to be Neapolitan pizza, or it's slightly different in some way? I noticed that the Folks website does not mention Neapolitan, so I think it must not be fully Neapolitan, but it does look like it.

This is the closest you'll get to neapolitan pizza without flying to Napoli.

Any update on vegan options? I see the question asked a lot and no solid answers.

Folks has an off-menu vegan option. It chef's choice of the day's vegetable toppings and sauce. no cheese on this pizza and no modifications on this pizza. Just ask your server!

    Can it be delivered?

They don't deliver, but they do offer take out. You just have to call early because they only have a limited supply on busier days.

Meeting friends for dinner tomorrow, any garlic free options?

Not many garlic free options unfortunately. It's Italian food and almost everything has some garlic in it. I know because I have asked. I have garlic and onion intolerance. It's not a lot. Food is so good, I take the chance of having some…

Any kind of kids menus? Or just a plain cheese pizza?

Plain Cheese Pizza, but it will be the best the little Kid ever had.

Do they have wood fire oven?

They do not it's all deck ovens

Can we bring our own bottle of wine for a corkage fee?

Yes, I believe it's $30 for the corkage fee.

    Do you have high chairs?

    Yes

Do you offer gluten free dough?

    They do not.

What protein are the meatballs made from?

Meatballs are currently made of pork and beef

Any chance you will go back to opening most days for lunch?

Yes we have that planned as soon as things are back to Normal

Are there gluten free options available?

No gf dough, however we do have snacks and salads that can be gluten free

    Are dogs welcome?

    On the patio, yes.

    Are there vegan options?

They have salads and you could get pizza without cheese 🧀 though it's not a vegan friendly restaurant.

    Do you have happy hour?

Great question! As of now we do not have a happy hour.

Favorite fine dining / Michelin-star restaurant in OC! Can't say enough great things about it!…read more A super intimate, upscale-casual (smart casual vibes with no enforced dress code) restaurant located in the third-floor penthouse of SCP. The space feels intimate because it's on the smaller side, and they thoughtfully stagger reservations so the dining room never feels overcrowded. You can be seated in the main dining room, on the outdoor patio, or on the indoor patio next to the penthouse shops. I come here at least once a year for my birthday because the staff are genuinely warm and make every guest feel special. They clearly care deeply about hospitality and creating a true culinary experience. Honestly, the entire team is top-notch, but on our most recent visit, Kara took especially great care of us. She remembered our preferences, made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed without needing to ask, and made my birthday feel special while also giving my husband and me space (I dislike when wait staff at smaller restaurants hover - they don't do that at all). The way the staff serves, takes orders, clears, etc. is like a really well-rehearsed dance - they want everything to be paced, smooth, and efficient (without feeling forced or robotic) and it really makes a difference. The food is delicious and beautifully presented, with thoughtful attention put into every detail of the flavor profile and color palette. They NEVER miss. I love how they refresh the menu a few times during the year to showcase seasonal ingredients while still staying true to the restaurant's overall identity. They also have a selection of dining experiences - I always go for the 3 course prefix during lunch and the portion sizes and timing of each course is perfect. Also highly recommend their afternoon tea on Saturdays. Couldn't find a more luxurious afternoon tea experience in OC! I genuinely hope they continue to do well! It's a pleasure to be a guest and feel pampered for a special day or an elevated casual meal with friends/family. Will be back many times in the future!

Definitely will be back for the dessert at least... and maybe the tasting menu. Apple (vanilla panna cotta, tatin, earl grey crumble, granny smith: compressed & gelee, green apple sorbet): You gotta come here for dessert. This was phenomenal. The earl grey crumble was delicious and plays well with the sweet tartness of the granny smiths. I'd say the component that felt out of place was the compressed pieces; they tasted like an fresh apple version of tandra which was too sweet and the layers meshed together. Main diver scallops (cauliflower, romanesco, capers, lemon confit, crostini): The scallops were so juicy and perfectly seared on the top. The cauliflowers were good but lackluster. The server told me there's cauliflower puree on the bottom which was yummy. Lemon confit who? There was an essence of lemon but nothing very present. Crostini was essentially like mini plain croutons. Wild Alaskan halibut (braised & fermented fennel, castelvetrano olives, preserved lemon): Only tried a bite of the fish and fennel. The fish was very nicely cooked and the crust on top was delightful. The fennel was sour due to fermentation but I didn't particularly enjoy it.

He was such a great server, on top of refills, clearing the table, getting orders in, checking on food that hadn't come out yet, and awesome conversation. He made the evening perfect. The dining area is on the dark side, quite intimate honestly, and very upscale feeling. There's a large bar area too if you're just looking for a couple drinks. We started with a plate of artichoke hearts, radishes, celery, preserved lemon hummus, and olives. It was very good and a nice start to the meal. Also ordered the caramelized brussels sprouts which were good. The best starter however were the lump crab and shrimp stuffed mushrooms with creamed spinach and panko bread crumbs. My picture does not do them justice, they were perfect! Very tasty, a slight crunch, and quite hot right out of the oven. I got the cedar plank salmon with French green beans and asparagus. My wife got the 6oz filet mignon with the same veggies. The salmon was cooked perfectly, still juicy inside, very hot, and just the right amount of flakey. The filet was also cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and tender. All our veggies were tasty and fresh. They have a ton of cocktails, wine, and beer to choose from. The drinks we got were made well and delicious. I will absolutely go back often especially to try their other seasonal menus.
