Been wanting to come here for quite a while and it did not disappoint. Only wish we came sooner. Decided to sit in for the Caesar salad and take home the pizza for later. Chewy was our pleasant waiter, very friendly and attentive. Fresh cold water when we sat down and a nice short easy menu to peruse and decide from. No frills, no uneasy decisions. Simple greatness is all that's needed. I'm guessing every table gets the Caesar salad, which was a botttomless pile of fresh lettuce, tons of delicately grated smoothe Parmesan cheese, delicate crumbles of breadcrumbs, with an absolutely decadent Caesar dressing - pleasantly spread throughout the whole entire plate of goodness. Next time I will try the fresh loaf of bread sliced thick with a bowl of cherry tomatoes. Whoa that looked great. Every plate that walked by us whispered 'try me' next time!! Saved the salami Calabrese pizza for home directions on the box which provided the most perfect texture for a reheated pizza we've ever had. Delightful! The pizza. The crust. So so disappointed by this place. We were served pizza with a chemical, dish water taste. It was very noticeable in the dough and whole pizza, which tasted very chemically and much like the dirty, unfiltered type of water that you would get from a moldy sink at a sketchy place. It stunk too. We were theorizing that the dough was made with dirty water, but there was also a possibility the serving pan given to us was used unwashed. Honestly wish we were able to send it back, but there was no time for a remake as it took about 30-40 mins for it to come out in the first place. The Caesar is also very, very depressing. The dressing is missing authenticity and tastes so bland and like pure lemon, the croutons are crushed up crumbs, and it was very hard to get through for $20. We left it behind as a group of 4 with full plates. I literally got fast food fries after this to fill the disappointment and void, and I'm a health conscious eater. The only saving grace was the meatballs. They were very good, and sadly the first plate that came out as everything went downhill. Should've known as this was the only dish that stood out to us when we ate here a few years ago. We decided to give it another proper try but it does not live up to the hype at all. If you want high quality pizza with a variety of ingredients and Caesar salad, go down to X Eats inside Brewery X. Half the price of the Caesar here, and so much better. Theirs comes with proper dressing, fried capers, freshly grated pecorino, and delicious sourdough croutons made in house. Pizza ended up taking a bit more than an hour to come out. Was a buzzkill for what had been a great overall date day. I was planning on giving one star but I'm upgrading to three as I think they took the cost of the pizza out quietly. Worth a try! The pizza crust here is AMAZING. Light, airy, crispy, and maintains structure to hold up the delicious toppings. All the ingredients tasted super fresh! Started off with the meatballs. You MUST order the meatballs. Sauce is perfectly seasoned, and the bread that accompanies this dish is perfect. Can't go wrong with beef tallow fried fries and Caesar salad either! Also ordered their wings. I was intrigued by the "Italian fish sauce" that was listed as an ingredient. The wings are definitely a flavor bomb, but I wouldn't order them again. Dropped by while we were in the neighborhood. 45 minute wait for a party of 2 at around 6:30 on a Wednesday evening. The crust/dough here is solid. Lots of flavor and crisp textures. I only wish they would place a rack between the pizza and platter so it doesn't sog out. Sausage and Market pizzas were our choices tonight. Loved the house made fennel sausage with aged mozz and basil. The Market is seasonal with fresh corn, Jimmy Nardellos and their bianco base. Lots of fresh/sweet pops of corn in each bite. I would recommend making a reservation in advanced as this place does get super packed, even on a weekday. Their oven does hold about 8 pizzas, so there will be an estimated wait time given to you by the waiter/waitress. Our wait time was about 30-40 minutes. Heard about his place and walked by it a few times. Finally had the chance to get the team to visit this establishment for our dinner meeting. Food is good. Their pizza offering have a selection of white and red sauce options. when served hot, crust was good and flavor is as expected. Their bread and butter is exceptional! If you are going to get anything here, make this a priority. Caesar salad is also a great choice. The staff was attentive to our needs since we sat outside when the sun was setting. Had to hold the menu up to block the glare until the round thing settled. But to truly highlight the pizza, it was a bit on the greasy side and taste didn't yield anything of exceptional in terms of flavor or texture. Huge fan of this place. We tried the fennel sausage pizza, mushroom pizza, and the free range chicken wings. They use sourdough for the pizza and that immediate caught my attention for the uniqueness. That, and the fact there's a line outside almost every day. The pizzas are also large at 14 inches and are cut at six pieces each. The wings had an immediate strong smell from the Italian fish sauce but they were amazing. We ended up devouring everything. The place itself is rather small but there's plenty of seating, especially outside. The server was also very kind and attentive and helpful with any questions we had. Highly recommend getting a reservation in advance or else you'll be waiting for a while. When we arrived in time for our reservation, we got sat almost immediately. A bit too overrated. I really was looking forward to this place after hearing about all the hype that went into this place based off social media posts that I've seen. We reserved for an 8:30pm knowing that it was going to be packed and surely enough, it was boomin with patrons. When we showed up, we were a bit early by about 20 minutes but I wanted to see what the wait time is for ordering to go instead since we didn't mind, soon finding out that the wait was roughly over an hour wait. Unsurprisingly, we decided to wait until we got the text for our table. However, despite the 8:30pm reservation, we ended waiting an almost additional 30 minutes anyways which was a bit upsetting, finally getting seated around 9:00pm. We were getting to the point where we wanted to leave not only because of how long we had to wait, but also recalling a disclaimer on their website noting how reservations are not guaranteed. We decided to still stay and eventually we got seated and decided to opt for the class margherita pizza and it was pretty shocking how expensive it was for a 13" neapolitan pizza ($30ish excluding tax and tip). After waiting about 30 minutes for our pizza, I was having such high expectations for what we were about to eat considering how long we had to wait and how popular this place is. Nevertheless, the service was fine and our waiter was friendly. When our pizza arrived, I was pretty baffled by the presentation of the pizza, immediately noticing how unaesthetic and burnt our pizza was as is seen in my photo. Never had I ever needed to take apart many of the slices to avoid the burnt parts. Even after trying it, the only thing that was noteworthy was the sourdough crust, which is unlike any other neapolitan I have had. The cheese and sauce were okay. Folks is synonymous with made to order pizza with the freshest ingredients. You know it once you take your first bite that the quality level here is well... on a different level. I added Italian sausage to their margarita pizza and even the meat was fresh and unprocessed. The slats of mozzarella and addition of basil leaves is done just like in the homeland. Tomato sauce is super fresh and the pizza dough is simply to die for. I also ordered their Caesar salad - I wouldn't order again because I thought the dressing was way too tart. Either balance it with croutons or dial it down a bit. Nice touch, however, with the whole romaine leaves. Service is pretty unimpressive, and the wait can be long - but there's a reason for that. Okay this place has some of the best pizza in Orange County. It also has some of the worst parking. So take that with a grain of salt. This is a very small and intimate restaurant located near the backside of The Camp. Parking can be VERY difficult. You can spend a very long time circling around until you find a spot. They do have a very small valet lot if you don't want to circle around. Now I did not have a reservation and I was able to do a walk in on a Saturday night. Once we got our name on the list it took about an hour to get a table. The good thing is there is a brewery nearby. So put your name in and walk over to grab a drink. Now the food is absolutely amazing. The service is also amazing. The best thing about this place is everything is family style. So when you see the prices, remember that one item can feed 2-3 people. Nonetheless, I still scan Los Angeles and beyond for popular pizzerias, and my search brought me to Folks Pizzeria. Since debuting in 2019, this Costa Mesa sit-downery has prided itself on its carefully curated, California-forward menu, and it remains one of Orange County's hottest tables. Folks is tucked away in The CAMP retail center. Briefly, this sustainable, outdoor shopping mall features plenty of local businesses with a renewability bent. The winding walkways are shaded by multiple layers of awning and trees, while the intentionally green spaces create an immediately relaxing atmosphere in spite of the crowds. Outside Folks, you can't miss the queue of customers lined up. A canvas awning and bungeed umbrellas shade the checkerboarded outdoor tables, and soft yellow blankets are available if it gets cold. Inside, industrial-chic accents are paired with nature-y decor. A taxidermy phesant and longhorn skull pop against the muted grey, shiplapped walls. Pear past the macrame wall planters to watch the kitchen staff kneading dough and firing pies. Every seat has an easy view of a flatscreen. Chipper 70s rock blends with the hum of chatter. My partner and I arrived for an early weekend dinner, and we were glad to have a reservation; both indoors and outdoors were packed. We kicked off our meal with the Meatballs with the Jersey ricotta supplement. The appetizer was served in a cast-iron skillet beside lightly-grilled, thick-cut sourdough. The flavorful red sauce was like a warm embrace, and the delicious meatballs were as flavorful as premium Italian sausage. If anything, the ricotta felt bland and superfluous compared to the other components. For our main, we decided on the Fennel Sausage Pizza. This piping hot Margherita-plus pie incorporated sausage chunks and whole basil leaves. The highlight was the sturdy, springy crust, from the blistered, pillowy cornicone to the leopard-spotted bottom. The standalone sourdough bites fared well on their own but were enhanced by the a la carte Folks Ranch. The toppings weren't memorable; we would probably opt for a different pie during a repeat visit. The side of Calabrian Chili was tiny and one-dimensionally not worth it spicy; don't waste your money on it. The service was friendly and efficient. Our bill topped $70 (after tax and tip), and we left reasonably full and satisfied. First timer! Late afternoon lunch on a Friday. Recommend getting there early to find parking. When we got to the restaurant, there was already a line formed before they opened at 3pm. Thankfully with our reservations (highly recommend), we were seated right away. After my experience here, I totally understand why this place is so busy! Pizzas are incredible. Super crispy and thoughtfully executed. I do wish the crust wasn't so big and the cheese and toppings filled up more of the pie. The wings are really good but a little salty. 8 pieces in an order. Squeezing the lemon on top definitely helps out a lot. The service was great and quick and the atmosphere was very aesthetic. I'd definitely recommend requesting the outdoor seating as it's a nicer experience but the indoor is nice as well. read more

Folks is one of those places I will always look at as a gem. From the seating arrangement and lighting, to the service and food itself, folks always excells. I've been there with my family as well as a date, bring my dog along and the staff are always attentive and friendly. The Caesar salad is probably the best I've ever had, the fries were piping hot, even the bread and butter was amazing. I've had the margherita, fennel sausage, pepperoni, and mushroom pizza, all were excellent, can't go wrong with any of those. Excited for the chance to go back and try the rest. The beer and wine options were good, and the staff was nice enough to allownus to sample some wines before we got a full glass.
