I came across a YouTube video about Le Hut Dinette a couple weeks ago, and finding out that it was the sister restaurant of Heritage Barbecue, it was a must try since I loved Heritage at the times I went. So, I came here on a Saturday night with a reservation for 5 people and it was an interesting experience to say the least! I really liked the retro diner vibes and the place looked pretty sleek. However, when it came to ordering (which I was eyeing the beef ribs for 2), and the first thing our server told us was that it was sold out. For peak dinner hours, to run out already on a popular dish at 7:30 is disappointing to say the least. So, I had to audible to the tri tip roast, which was good at least, but it was not like the beef ribs that I have tried from Heritage Barbeque a while back. It was also weird that they also ran out of chicken too, which one of the couples at the that table wanted, so they had to switch to the pork belly. Luckily, the dishes we ordered were all good...but it just felt weird to me that they ran out of some food already and it wasn't even near closing. That's like me going to In N Out wanting a double double, only for them to be like "sorry, you are going to have to opt for only a hamburger" instead. I would like to give Le Hut Dinette another chance since I have tried Heritage in the past and the barbecue is bomb, but I honestly did not expect them to have inventory issues at prime dinner hours. The server apologized for the issues due to their early afternoon rush and for how busy they were, but that still didn't really make up for the unavailability of the beef ribs. Perhaps I'm salty because I legit drove an hour down from LA to the OC for a product that I didn't even get to try (with a reservation!) So the final verdict, food was good and the service was nice, but not being able to order the beef ribs and some other dishes unfortunately made what could have been a 5 star experience into something of a 3-3.5 star experience.

Le Hut Dinette is a restaurant that's owned by Michelin-recognized Heritage BBQ from San Juan Capistrano. They take delicious grilled proteins and chef them up into really interesting entrees. Several dishes take BBQ and they add influence from Filipino and Californian flavors. Started off with blue corn sourdough that was baked next door at 6100 Bread and served with tallow and lemon butter. It was chewy, creamy, with hits of lemon. We then had a grilled mushroom arroz caldo, which is a Filipino-style rice porridge that gets tons of flavor from garlic and fried shallots. What takes it to another level is that they have perfectly charcoal grilled maitake mushrooms that gives a smokiness to the porridge that's amazing. As you eat, you get pops of acidity from pickled fresno chiles and the grilled mushrooms are brushed with an addictive ancho glaze. This is an amazing, balanced dish. Our main course was a Kurobata pork belly chop that was pan roasted and grilled over charcoal and topped with a subtle strawberry-guajillo BBQ sauce and a refreshing coleslaw with a dressing that reminded me of sweet vinegar with chili that's often served with rich, fatty Filipino pork dishes. I'll definitely come back for brunch and dinner. Fusion restaurants are often gimmicky, but Le Hut Dinette skillfully balanced flavors without cutting corners. You could taste delicious sauces, perfectly grilled meats, and brightness and acidity to round things out. Some of the dishes represent Filipino flavors and these were very well thought out. Their mushroom arroz caldo, for example, was probably the best lugaw (Filipino term for rice porridge) that I've ever had. I look forward to coming back soon!

Great vibe in this diner. I've been wanting to try it for a while. We got lucky without a reservation. And the two servers were great. The food was rich and delish. Do not come on a diet.

Delicious food and such a gorgeous atmosphere. We've been here for brunch and dinner now! We prefer dinner over brunch but it's the perfect mix of cute diner and hip wine bar. Whether you're looking for an elevated bite or celebrating an occasion this is the PERFECT spot!! Love their $1 mugs of coffee too. AND they use bread from 6100 bread, tortillas from Burritos Las Palmas, and meats from Heritage Barbecue! You're in good hands here

Chief wine on the wine list!

Some of my friends have been wanting to take me to Le Hutt Dinette for quite some time, and we finally had the opportunity to snag a reservation. We were slightly disappointed to see that they only serve lunch on Thursdays and not dinner, but it is good to know since we will be back to try the dinner menu on another day. We ordered a little bit of everything because we could not help ourselves and wanted to sample as much as possible. We got the coleslaw, blue corn toast, Caesar salad, smashburger, California burrito, and fried chicken sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious. Not a fry was left behind! We did end up taking the rest of the California burrito home because it was huge, which is definitely not a complaint. We finished off the meal by sharing the chocolate bibingka with oven roasted strawberries, which was incredible. Another fun thing to note: Le Hutt carries a wine from Native Hands, a winemaker local to Southern California. It was very cool to see it on the menu. I love the vibe of the place, and the service came with a smile. We will definitely be back for dinner at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later.

My husband and I came here for dinner Saturday night and had a nice time. The building's architecture is really retro and cool, and the service is great. We started with the blue corn sourdough bread-which we loved (warm, salty and lemony). We tried the potato appetizer and I loved the spicy mayo-type sauce on it. We shared the beef rib for two with charred broccoli and garlic rice, and while it was a good Asian-flavored rib, we had hoped it would be more like the Heritage Texas style BBQ rib, which is more blackened and briny in flavor. Still very good, just different than what we were thinking of. We shared the warm milk bread pudding for dessert and it had a good orange flavor to it. We found parking across the street. Overall, you'll have a nice, unique meal here.

Overhyped sister restaurant of Heritage BBQ. Saw this place featured on Youtube. Also, they were already on my radar for the Tallow Fries. The servers are friendly and the restaurant has a laid back ambiance. But the food was very mid. The Tallow Fries were a bit underwhelming. Wish they were crispier and had more seasoning. The Fried Chicken Sandwich and Smoked Chicken Sandwich were both under-seasoned. I wanted to like this place, but I don't think I'll be back.

Right next door to 61hundred Bread, Le Hut Dinette has the same quonset hut charm but shifts into a casual diner vibe. They run a breakfast menu for the morning, and have both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was friendly and fast when I was there, but according to the server it does seem like they also get their usual rushes and normally recommend reservations. I went with the brisket breakfast burrito. It's substantially filling even without a side. That said, it leans a one-note texture. The spicy element comes more from chili oil than actual heat, so it doesn't bring much kick, and without it the burrito could use more contrast. Something like a brighter salsa or added crunch would balance it out better. The fried potatoes inside come as whole baby potatoes, and they're cooked properly. No complaints there, but doesn't help with giving a different texture. Seeing what people at other tables were ordering around me, I may come back and try other items on the menu. Everything looked like mountains of food.

Le Hut Dinette has one of the cooler restaurant personalities I've seen in Santa Ana. It feels like a classic diner got a modern glow-up, with enough nostalgia to feel charming and enough polish to feel intentional. We started with drinks and were torn between a couple wines, so our server let us taste before deciding. Small touch, but it set the tone. He was patient, helpful, and gave great recommendations. For food, we started with the Patate de Fête. The sauce had the right mix of kick and tang, balancing out the creamy, starchy richness without overpowering it. The clear star was the Mussels Bolognese. The mussels tasted fresh, the seafood-meets-beef bolognese combo sounded unexpected but completely worked, and scooping it up with the 6100 purple sourdough was the move. After one bite, I understood why people wake up at the crack of dawn to get that loaf. It's fluffy, flavorful, and honestly some of the best sourdough I've had. I bake my own loaves, so when I say the bread deserves respect, I mean it. The grilled chicken was solid too. Crispy skin, juicy meat, and a gravy-like sauce that tied everything together with the mashed potatoes. The vegetables were especially impressive, fresh, elegant, and way more thoughtful than the usual side of carrots tossed on for moral support. The pork belly chop was the only dish that did not fully land for me. The strawberry guajillo BBQ sauce had a sweet, citrusy thing going on, and the slaw was refreshing, but the meat itself was a little tough and dry in spots. Dessert brought me right back in. The Japanese milk bread pudding was easily my favorite bite of the night. The pear preserves and chantilly cream were perfect together, and once again, 6100's bread reminded everyone who was really in charge. Overall, I think this might be more of a daytime lunch spot for me, so I'm looking forward to giving it another run. Dinner had some highs, some "almost there" moments, and one bread pudding I may need to emotionally recover from.

We were lucky enough to try their loco moco before it officially hit the menu. Our server told us they were serving it, and honestly, everything we tried was actually really good! The menu is definitely on the pricier side, which is probably the only reason I'd take off a star. But the minimalist aesthetic and cozy vibe make the place so nice, especially since it's located at the French Historic Park. Worth checking out if you're in Santa Ana!

    Chili cheese fries. So good.
    Daniel T.

The chili cheese fries were no joke. High quality chili, well-seasoned fries, garnished perfectly with cheese, pepperocinis and thinly sliced onions. The Santa Maria slam, the breakfast potatoes stole the show. The tri tip with chimichurri very solid. And the eggs cooked over easy. The coleslaw was excellent. Balanced the meat heavy order on our part. The burrito en mojado was three meals in one. We took home most of the barbacoa and had a second brunch. Still had some leftover so made eggs and toasted some 6100 bread and had a third breakfast. Service was fantastic and the vibe is analog diner with a modern day spin.

I recently dinnered here and I can't stop thinking about the beef pork rib. If you order one thing, order the beef rib for 2 ($129). The Heritage Barbecue smoked beef rib comes with mushroom demi and blistered broccolini and garlic rice on the side. It goes without saying that the star is the smoked beef rib - it's fall off the bone tender and so damn flavorful. However, costars broccolini and garlic rice were just as exceptional. What is there to say about blistered broccolini except the one served with the rib is fire. The feathery tops really picks up the char flavor and it has a nice snap as you bite into it. Additionally, the garlic rice anchors the dish. Ten. I'll be back to check out both their brunch and lunch menus.

I was excited to try this place as I'm a fan of Heritage BBQ and Taco Maria but was a bit disappointed by the food. I got the fish tacos and it was a little strange with barely a piece of fish in it and a few orange pieces. They offer 3 different sauces to choose from so I opted to try them all, I really liked the verde sauce but I was surprised to find on my bill that they charged me an extra $2 each for the additional sauces. Service was great, attentive, and they even made me bread pudding which wasn't on the menu, but because they were missing some ingredient, they made it with strawberries which ended up being too tart and sweet. I appreciated it though. The space is small and has the diner feel. Service great. Food ok but overpriced. But I would never return because they don't have their own parking lot and you have to find street parking so it's a bit challenging.

We stopped by here on my birthday for a nice evening dinner. Got there a little before sunset. There's just something magical about eating outside during a sunset, especially at the Orange Plaza. The restaurant has such a cool look and vibe! We started off with the Hamachi crudo, salmon ceviche, and a bowl of clam "chowdah". The crudo was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. The salmon ceviche was really good but a bit heavy on the sauce for me. The clam chowder had whole clams in the shell throughout. That was fun to pick them out! For entrees we got the lean and mean plate with sea bass. It comes with salad and rice, we substituted the rice for black beans. We also got the skirt steak "bulgogi" which was served on top of mushrooms and bok choy with a sweet soy sauce. They accidentally brought out salmon instead of sea bass, but were very apologetic. They brought out a sea bass on the side and comped the entree to make up for it. Great service right there! The salmon and seabass were both delicious and cooked perfectly. The steak was tender and juicy, full of flavor. As a birthday gift they brought out a thai milk tea blondie sundae which was soooo good! Get it if you like sweets. I wish the owners all the best in their future endeavors, they created a great restaurant that many will miss. The guy working said to the people in front of me that they sold out. It was my turn I asked if they had it and the guy said that they had a line since 3pm and that they sold out of the keg. We ended up getting two beers since we went anyways but that's when things didn't add up. He kept telling all the other people that started to show up the same thing. These are reasons why it didn't add up 1) empty seats inside but had a line since 3pm and beer was released at 4pm 2) I don't think the people going for younger would just order one beer and not try other RR beers? 3) only one guy working beer counter and having to clean the tables and make sandwiches? 4) 12 oz pours of beer and keg with about 1984 oz would make it 166 beers. No way they sold 166 beers in an hour with one person working the bar and shop empty in an hour. They could have posted on their instagram or socials that they sold out but failed to do so. I'm sure a lot of people all night were disappointed to see that they didn't have it or post anything about it.
