They explained exactly what they were doing and why. It could have been more expensive, especially since I had a BMW, but they only charged the standard rate. I plan on going back again! I waited a week for an appointment because they were extremely busy, told them about the problem I was having over the phone. When I arrived, they weren't too busy and I had a friendly greeting. The freindly service advisor then explained to me that it was going to cost $180 to diagnose my car even if they diagnosis only took 5 minutes. Keep in mind, I had previously been to this shop for service and they already had told me what needed to be repaired. I made the appointment wanting to get the problem fixed that we had discussed on my previous visit. Either I just don't understand the process (which is possible) or the service advisor didn't explain why I should pay for a diagnosis if I wanted to get the repair done. If you bring your car in with a flat tire, do they charge you to diagnosis it or just to fix it. If that is there policy, thats OK but please tell me on the phone when I make the appointment instead of wasting a week. In the end I took my car elsewhere and won't be back. read more

Hi: I had a coupon so I thought I would try this company, I have a Mercedes so I thought I would call for oil change pricing and if the coupon was good for it. They said no but they could help on labor. I asked cost. Would be around $80.00 with the synthetic oil. Called back to make appt. Checked again, price the same. Got there today, got the run a round and they wanted $155.00. All these excuses and that I'm getting a grate discount. I get the same price at the Mercedes dealer with no discount. Not only did I waste my time calling twice, I had somebody follow me over for the appt. so I could get home and wasted their time with a dishonest bid. Not happy. Thumbs down on these guys! I bought a PT Cruiser from Folsom Auto Center under the old owner scott and I guess recently he sold the company but his long time rep that I'd rather not expose on here also left when scott sold out but he sold me a lemon the car overheated 2 times within a week and never passed smog. I have a bill of sale and the understanding was the PT cruiser had undergone the necessary maintanence but it clearly wasnt the case unfortunately the car never ran for more than 48 hours without the car overheating to the point I couldnt drive it over 40 mph without it rapidly overheating within 10 mins. Since the private mechanic left with scott when the company got sold. Is there anything you new owners can do to honor the sincere mistake of the previous owner and his mechanic I can disclose in person or privately that worked on and sold me the vehicle that is most definitely a lemon and a half to say the least.... any feedback is much appreciated I'm just pursuing all avenues before having to go to civil court because that sucks....please help? Prior to engine fail, my car was riding really smooth. I towed my car to this place to have a new engine installed. Paid 5k for old engine and my now "fixed" car had all sorts of weird noises coming out. When I went back they charged me to fix it. They told me the problem was leaves and charged me more money. They had my car parked under trees and yet wouldn't comp the service for a mistake that was their own. Going back home I heard more noise from car. I ended up taking my car elsewhere and finally no more problems after paying for a broken pipe at $350, which I now know they caused!!!! read more

These guys did an awesome job! I was referred by a friend. I was told this was a Christian owned shop, that they were very honest, and affordable. In the end, they figured out a problem I was having with my Ford Escape and charged me about $50 less than the estimate they gave me. Their estimate was already $100 cheaper than the shop I normally used. And, I was in a hurry because I had to go out of town the same evening, and they finished before the end of the day so I could make my appointment. Can't say enough good about these guys. read more

This place is fantastic, I called today to get my engine light checked (all other places said I had to wait until next week), Kayla one of the girls in the office said she can run the codes for me today and at least tell me what is wrong! Ron checked the car out for me, put some water in it and told me exactly what I needed for it and what I needed to do. He taught me how to be safe when going about taking my radiator cap off. I too have put my trust in Scott at Folsom Auto Center for at least 5 years. I have always felt I can trust his work. I had two previous incidents, that I felt, weren't great, but I overlooked them as I felt, it probably could have happened anywhere. 1. when replacing the fuel pump the mechanic spilled gasoline inside my car, and the smell was an extreme pain to get rid of, and it two separate visits to figure out what had happened, we had thought there was a leak somewhere. I let it go. 2. when replacing the brakes on my car back in 2008, a week or so after, I had a terrible noise in the front left side of my car, i brought it in, and the front left wheel was not securely attached to the car!! Again, i thought... wow, I guess they didnt have to tell me this, and they were honest in admitting their mistake, so i let it go, but hey.. pretty scary if it was to come off while going 65 down the freeway. So just last week, it was time to get my brakes replaced again. I brought the car in, picked it up and the next day, car was making a strange noise. I wasnt sure what it was, but i had to take a 3 hour drive that day and i was nervous to do it without bringing it in. Good thing i did, again, the tire was not property tightened to the car, and well, a total life threatening mistake. I hate that I have to do this, but I really feel this was just a final straw. I would advise against utilizing this shop. Maybe until they replace some of their mechanics. So sad, as now I need to find another shop i can trust! read more

Took my car in to get a quick smog. Man at the counter said it would be a 15min process max. I ended up being there for over an hour because the gentleman's car before mine wouldn't pass and they had to order parts from the local parts store. Instead of getting to my car on the downtime we all waited on parts for the other person car. We waited 30 extra minutes just for the part to show up and it didn't even fix the problem. So after 45 min they finally got to my car. My car had a catch can on it that catches extra oil from going into the intake of my car to help it from burning oil. My car ran clean enough to pass but I guess the catch can made it fail the visual portion. So instead of telling me it wouldn't pass in the first place from the catch can they decided to test the car anyway so they could charge me for the test. They told me to take the catch can off and they could test it again. They wanted to be able to charge me for both visits because it's easy money for them. Doesn't seem like the honest thing to do. I was referred to Folsom Auto through church and have used them 4 years now. Scott, Ron, and Alex are consistent with delivering the best service. You don't need to worry about a hard cross sell, but they will advise you honestly of issues needing attention later. They do their best in explaining repairs in a language anyone can understand and admit if they've misdiagnosed or made a mistake. Honest shop from what I can see. Brought my car there about 4 times and they did a good job. As far as prices go? I don't think they are the cheapest, but one thing I hate is getting ripped off. I think these guys are honest, so that in of itself is worth going to. So I would recommend them for that reason. I would rather get the job done right by an honest shop. read more
