Long time customer with 2nd poor meal in a row. If there was a good Chinese restaurant around I would certainly switch. Hot and sour soup was watery. Pork Egg Foo Young had zero pork and my order of mixed vegetables was so overcooked I couldn't eat it. Called the restaurant to tell them my experience and the woman Manager told me she NEVER had these complaints in all her years there!!! Are you kidding me, NEVER? I understand that sometimes there are problems but the correct response is we wont charge you or next time we will take care of you or something. Guess she cant say they never had a problem anymore! I will say the portions are big and reasonable cost, but most every Chinese takeout offers that. Conclusion: this place is going downhill quick. I just had the worst experience ever with Foo Luck. I have been going to this establishment for my entire life, and today I feel that I will never go back. My order was screwed up and delivered with missing food. I was billed for a soup I didn't order and then when I explained this to the delivery person he said that since he delivered the food (the wrong food) and I paid for it, that my correct food will cost me even more. The person who answered the phone said it would take 1 hour for delivery. I thought that was a bit much for a Thursday night but I let it go. It wound up taking over an hour and a half. The driver got antsy when I couldn't make it up to him within a minute and said "he had a lot of orders and had to go". All of the food was cold. The egg drop soup wasn't very good. The general tso's chicken wasn't that good. The steamed dumplings weren't good either. All of the food was very greasy even for Chinese food. We returned after having stopped going to Foo Luck for a while. It seems not much has changed since the last below average visit. Foo Luck remains busy but I think thats more because the Commack area in general is missing quality Chinese restaurants than Foo Luck being of good quality. Its not bad, its just not where it used to be. We used to look forward to Foo Luck but not anymore. The quality is just not there anymore. Chicken and broccoli was loaded with a half inch of grease/oil in the container. Egg rolls greasy and under cooked. Wonton egg drop soup was fine. Egg Foo Young was good except for the gravy which was too oily/greasy. White meat sesame chicken was OK, but about half of the pieces of chicken were tough and stringy. I hope at some point Foo Luck gets back to where it was though it remains one of the better Chinese food options in Commack which shows how poor the area Chinese restaurants are. Maybe we will try in 6 months or so but for now we will avoid Chinese in our area. read more

We have been craving Chinese food for the past week or so since all local restaurants and take out restaurants have closed due to the Corona Pandemic. My wife went to her "Moms" page on Facebook to get some review and to find out which locations were still opened. The reviews pointed us to Foo Luck in Commack. After a 20 minute drive, I placed my order. The hour wait was not long considering the circumstances. I decided to wait inside, (with my mask on). While sitting there with other patrons, 3 people came in at different times without face masks which are mandatory as of 4/17/2020. I guess they think there are above the law. The manager/owner said nothing to them. When my order was ready to go, I went to the register to pay and leave. What I saw was that the only people wearing masks were the 2 people packing up orders. The entire cook staff were not wearing masks. This is not a joke, it is serious and those people that serve the public should follow the law to the letter. I was disappointed w my takeout after looking forward to eatting sushi. I ordered a spicy tuna and avocado roll and an avocado salad. Some of the salad had gone bad and was wilted and rotten, I had to pick out the bad and then I just gave up eating it. The sushi smelt fishy after opening the container which is never a good sign. Me and 3 of my coworkers ordered takeout sushi on Friday (which is usually a mistake when ordering from a place that also does Chinese.) Saturday night I end up with the worst food poisoning I have ever experienced. At first I assumed that it was something I ate that day until both of my coworkers texted me to say they could not stop throwing up. 4 of us ordered sushi and the only person that did not get violently ill was the person who did not get raw fish. My coworker called the restaurant to complain and was immediately treated like a scam artist. The owner (or manager) laughed at her accusation and said ' we made over 200 deliveries today and nobody else complained.' I looked at other reviews and this does not seem to be the first time they have said something like this. Upon entering the girl behind the counter IMMEDIATELY made us feel like she didn't want us there and we were a huge inconvenience. We were not greeted, we just got a cold stare. After having to ask for a menu/order sheet, we were very surprised to learn that they don't have combination specials or a lunch menu like a vast majority of Chinese restaurants do. Because of this, our order was more expensive than we'd normally spend. There was no one in the restaurant but my husband and I so you'd think we'd get our order quickly, right? Nope, it took a good 25-30 minutes. Now, the extremely unfriendly chick behind the counter knew we were dining in so you'd think when our order was ready she'd have plates, utensils, sauces, etc in the bag right? Nope. I had to ASK her for EVERYTHING! And again, she was very unpleasant and she made it VERY CLEAR that we were an inconvenience. The food was.... disgusting. We ordered what we would normally order at our favorite Chinese restaurant. Steam Pork Dumplings- very bland & Weird texture. Dumpling Sauce- very salty and not the slightest bit sweet. Pork fried rice- NO flavor. General Tso- very tough and rubbery. Tasted ok, except it had no spiciness to it like it should. Cheese fried Wonton- supposed to be sweet but it was salty and tasted VERY fishy. Wonton Soup- flavorless. I went up to the counter to ask for sauce packets to TRY to make the food a least... palatable. Of course the chick behind the counter didn't want to be bothered. But even the sauces didn't help!!! We ate only a couple of bites of each item and threw the rest in the bag. There was no garbage can so I gave it to Miss Happiness behind the counter. She looked in the bag and didn't say a word. No, 'I'm so sorry you didn't like it', or even 'is everything ok?' She couldn't have cared less. We should've asked for our money back, but I didn't want to deal with that chick any further. When we left she didn't even thank us or tell us to have a nice day or anything. When I think of Foo Luck I get very angry. Even after all these weeks I'm still bitter about our experience there. Tremendous portions. Good pork fried rice and amazing beef chow fun and egg rolls. Love the Sparerib on the bone combo but sometimes they serve it with very tiny pieces-almost the ends of the ribs. My husband and I order regularly from Foo Luck and we have always enjoyed the food. This is a top-notch Chinese take-out restaurant and as someone who grew up on Long Island, I have had my share of a lot of Chinese take-out. This is by far the best place. The only thing that isn't good here is the sushi, but if you are craving sushi I recommend Kurofune right across the street. This place is a local landmark, and to put it any other way would be to distort the truth. People are even willing to drive from several towns away to pick up orders from here. One might naturally wonder why a Chinese take-out has developed such a following. Simply put, Foo Luck does not serve up lower, generic-quality take-out food. Quite the contray, they serve superior, well made dishes with very generous portions. A girl I dated a number of years ago lived in Commack and we used to frequent this place weekly for what might be the best Roast-Pork Lo Mein on the Island. Be advised, of course, that I mention this only in comparison to other Chinese take-out restaurants, whose food is generally geared towards Americans. If we were to discuss traditional Chinese food, that would be a whole other discussion, as the food is entirely different, and superior. Just a note to those who have great interest in Chinese food; there is a rule: If you enter a Chinese eating establishment and it is filled with Chinese people, it is in your best interest to eat there. Thus, many of you will notice that you rarely, if ever, see Chinese people in take-out restaurants. However, none of this deters from the fact that Foo Luck offers terrific food; take-out Chinese food is altogether different from traditional Chinese food, and as such, Foo Luck serves up the former beautifully. read more

The food was above average as far as chinese take-out goes. Their huge portions are always a plus. The place is a mad house during peak hours so you're better off ordering by phone and picking up. The people working there were very nice which apparently is a lot to ask for in chinese food places in the area for some reason. This is by far the best Chinese takeout ever! They have everything your typical takeout place has,but the flavor is different, in a better way, plus I find it to be less greasy. My favorite thing here are their fried cheese wantons and the sweet and sour chicken. There egg drop soup is pretty good too. i eat hear once every two months or so and they never once messed up my order even when we give them very large orders. This is a must try takeout place. Local favorite for many. Place is ALWAYS crowded with a good mix of sit down & take out. Chinese, Szechuan & an extensive Cantonese menu. with an unusual list of 13 different soups. There is a limited sushi menu. The sushi has always been fresh and the rolls are standard but very good. I've never once been disappointed. 4 stars. read more
