The food is good, normal regular Chinese food. But something is missing. I can't figure exactly what it is. Some background music in the restaurant would be nice. Decor is beautiful. Large fish tanks with big koi. Tank and water needs a serious cleaning. Waitress was upfront that string beans would be a dollar more since they are so expensive now. I appreciated her being upfront about this So we stuck with broccoli instead. They have sushi but the restaurant and take out does not seem to be in high demand so I won't try sushi when there doesn't seem to be turnover. Besides the sushi guy also take phone orders and was taking care of the fish in the tank. Portions are for normal size people. read more

I've ordered take out from here several times but recently it hasn't been great. Chicken has been rubbery and questionable. Another item I ordered was not supposed to be spicy and it was. I asked a clarification question about the menu because something was listed in two sections and the hostess was a bit rude. I've never sat down inside - it looks nice, just a little too dim for me. Ordered yesterday via uber eats. I got the shrimp in garlic sauce, does not state what rice comes with the meal, I mentioned in the comments I don't eat pork, to switch out my egg roll for a shrimp roll & I don't mind paying the difference. They gave me pork fried rice & when I called the person who answered was very nasty & told me that not their problem take it up with uber. Some people shouldn't be in food service. I went here for lunch. The wonton soup was lukewarm but tasty. The pepper steak was moist and seasoned well, but the fried rice was oversaturated with soy sauce and had a scant amount of pork. Went back to Imperial Orchard. I think it is underrated. Both times the food was very good, and the atmosphere was jolly! This time I had the wonton soup, egg roll and veg lomein. All was delicious. The staff were very friendly and personable, our waitress said that she would make my order into a combo so that it included ice cream! I couldn't argue with that! The ice cream was a good quality and served in a crystal goblet, very fancy! Our waitress also brought over hand wipes and even opened the package for us. Don't let the quirky decor put you off, this is definitely my go to for sit down Chinese. Now and forever. read more

Food is always a salad. We have been coming here for the last year and every single time. It's delicious. This is probably the best Chinese food we've had on Long Island. This restaurant USED TO BE the best in town. I do not know what happened but it now among the worst! I ordered the chicken lo mein. It was an oily tasteless mess that we just threw out. The chicken consisted of a total of six two inch long and a quarter inch thick pieces of rubbery, slick something that tasted nothing like chicken. Avoid this place. First time here.. Friday night and it was pretty busy. They sat us within 5 minutes, staff is attentive and friendly. For an appetizer we ordered the scallion pancakes and sweet corn soup with crabmeat and chicken (very tasty). I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding a recent dining experience at Imperial Orchid on 7/12. I ordered the Wonton soup and some other dishes from your establishment, and to my utter dismay, I discovered a live fly embedded in the soup. Finding an insect in the food I was about to consume was not only shocking but also highly distressing. This incident has left me questioning the standards and hygiene practices at your restaurant. Later in the evening I was having a related diarrhea issue... I have attached photographs of the incident as evidence. Food really good, service better than good. Came on a Saturday night, stand alone restaurant with adequate parking, they were about half full at 8pm. We ordered the PuPu platter for nostalgia kicks, (bucket list, long story) eggplant with garlic sauce, and Kung Pao tofu. All very tasty, honestly surprised. Waitress was on top of her game, made sure we had all we needed and checked in with us often. So everything I'm writing is great so far......what's wrong ? well, the decor...whoa ! Now I know it'll be mine and my husbands new Chinese and sushi place. We needed a new Chinese place, since our usually one upset our stomachs. I ordered the pad tai, I think, and absolutely LOVED it. All I can say is WOW...A+ service, and the food was excellent. We ordered the pu pu platter, everything was so delicious, but I especially liked the spare ribs! Our family has been going here for 20+ years, but lately the food has gone downhill. When the original owner had it, the portions were good and the quality was tops. Last visit we had shrimp with lobster sauce and the Shrimp were so mushy they fell apart trying to pick them up, the sesame chicken with strips that were so dry and tough you could barely chew them. Next area of our table- there were 2 tables connected of about 20 people celebrating a birthday party/ extremely loud and playing music loudly. Staff did nothing upon our request - just smiled and laughed when we asked them to speak to them. We couldn't hear ourselves. Now the food. When the noodles on the table are white in color and stale- that should have been a red flag. When Egg rolls were wrapped up in egg roll wrappers multiple times with hardly any filling becomes another red flag. My husband ordered shrimp in lobster sauce which came in a large soup bowl. Sauce was actually egg drop soup with shrimp. No minced meat and soupy. Enough shrimp though. Happy Family was okay as was chicken and peppers. Had a msg headache afterwards. I have passed this restaurant for years but never went in until this week. Menu items looked a bit expensive so we all chose the prix fix dinner and it was well worth it. Wonton soup was ok. The wontons were hard and needed to be cut. Swallowing them in one bite was not something I was willing to attempt. The barbecue beef app on a stick was tender and delicious as was my main, General Tso Chicken. It was accompanied with a choice of rice. I chose fried rice. Finished the meal with vanilla ice cream and a fortune cookie. Very friendly and pleasant staff although we barely finished one course and our waitress was bringing out the next. There was barely anyone in the restaurant so there was no need to rush us. More time between courses, please. All of my pics have a blue caste to them as the inside has all blue lighting. I am watching what I eat but planned to start going off my eating plan on Christmas eve night and on Christmas day. I wanted to balance out dinner though so I opted for cheese wontons which I usually avoid and the veggie delight with tofu. I really don't go to "old school" Chinese restaurants featuring egg drop soup and chow mein anymore. But I was invited so I had the dinner special for $23. Not a bad deal. You don't get alot with each portion but still not a bad deal. The wonton soup was OK. Not bad, the beef appetizer was not bad the shrimp with cashew would have been better if it wasn't drowned in an overpowering strong tasting brown sauce. I wish I could've washed it off but I still finished it. I asked for fried rice as my choice of rice, since I haven't had it in a while. I was expecting something somewhat resembling fried rice, not a cup of rice that looks like it was dumped in motor oil. I just picked out the little pieces of pork and egg out of it. I couldn't bring myself to eat any of the gloppy looking dark brown rice. The ice cream dessert was good. Service was great, atmosphere is trendy. This is literally down the block from my mans house. Strange it took us so long to get here. Full of old people and most taking out rather than staying. David K got the prefix and I ordered the half Peking duck. Duck was good. For the prefix soup I made him choose the hot and sour which somehow tasted like gravy. The sweet and sour chicken was very good. We got the check before the dessert but I feel like the waitress should have reminded us, eh no harm, no foul. Anyway, close enough where we will be back.
