My family has been coming to Food Corner for years, and I always make a point to have it when I'm visiting. The owner and everyone working there are incredibly friendly, the food is always delicious (our favs are the afghan gyro platter and the boneless chicken kabob platter - chickpeas on the side). We recommend calling in your takeout order ahead, and know you'll likely wait a few extra minutes once in the store so your food is extra fresh. On the last visit they needed to finish making the bread for our order - it came out hot and soft and perfectly chewy. We ordered the palau and qabali palau and tried the aush soup. Everything was very tasty and came with a slightly spicy chutney on the side. The aush soup was like a chicken noodle soup. Perfect comfort food (Afghan style)! The owner (I think) was incredibly friendly and helpful. He seems to really value his customers. If you're in the mood for Afghan kabobs, this is one of the best spots for it. The service here is always top notch. Very friendly folks working here. I came here with some friends that haven't tried it before and they loved it. We went with a few combos which was a mixture of the shami, chicken, lamb, and beef. I had the shami and beef combo. The shami wasn't bad but I was able to try the chicken and lamb as well. Definitely go with the beef/lamb/chicken. I got some chicken curry and eggplants over rice. I got the beef kabob sandwich, and it was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant itself was a mix between what I imagine is a traditional afghani place and a deli (very comfortable). They gave us complementary soup and we got an afghani bread too. Everything was delicious, but the best part about the place is its service. I got in touch with najeeb who I asked what the cost of JUST a tray of rice and bread would be for about 15 people. He told me that I would have to pay $250. On their website it shows you can get everything for the same cost they quoted me. So when I asked them why that's the case they became extremely rude and kept telling me I'm trying to bargain. Was craving kabobs and heard this local joint was supposed to be one of the best in the area. I ended up getting their Chicken and Beef Kabob Combo with a side of chickpeas. They even gave me a complimentary Afghan style chicken noodle soup that was very unique and hearty. The kabobs themselves had a great flavor, but I wish they were just a bit more tender. WHAT I ATE - Virginia @ Food Corner Kabob House 7031 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003 Quabili, Kabuli, Qwabuli.... However you spell it, it's delicious! It's the national dish of Afghanistan, whose capital is Kabul, so I gravitate toward that spelling! Kabuli Pilau is a rich, rice pilaf made from simmered meat stock. The extremely long grains of basmati rice are steamed and topped with sweet, shredded carrots and raisins. The Kabob House as we call it, make very popular lamb, chicken, and beef kabobs and an assortment of other popular dishes. It's not fine dining, but it's definitely a few notches above fast food. Though it's know for kabobs, we have yet to try them because we always gravitate toward the Kabuli Pilau! It's so soul warming and satisfying! The staff is friendly and will usually offer a cup of sou to go with your meal. The spiced tea is set to the side and you help yourself. It's fragrant and infused with cardamom. With or without sugar , it's delicious. Just be careful to avoid burning yourself because it is ALWAYS PIPING HOT! You have a choice of two sides to go with your meal if you get the combo. We like the spinach, sweet potato, and lamb stew (which btw is not spicy) which is oniony and garlicky. The Afghan Bread is very similar to Naan, but is pierced with holes. Fresh from the tandoor, it's always crackly, crisp, and fluffy inside with a nice chew. It's like your favorite pizza crust. This is the type of place we go to when we don't feel like cooking, but want a casual sit-down meal that is not a burger or fast food. That's why we continue to go here! It's her birthday meal every year and everyone we've brought here has been impressed. Not just the flavor and sides but the staff here is unparalleled. Don't waste your money at Food Corner Kabob House. Low quality food, filthy tables, and rude staff. Their lamb kabob was like eating rubber, so gross. If the tables are dirty at all times, what does that say about their food hygiene? The food takes forever to cook because they decide who gets the food first, regardless of the order of people in line. Other patrons told us their food was awful and they will not be returning. I'm certainly not going to give them my business. Won't make that mistake again. Why go here when Annandale is packed with other awesome places to eat. We've been customers for many years, but the service has gotten horrible. Ordering online is a waste of time. We've learned that they don't begin preparing your order until you walk in. Our online order was supposed to be ready at 5:20. I walked in at 5:17 and spoke to the cashier. He told me to wait "a couple minutes" so I sat at a table next to the register. About 6-8 people flowed in over the next half hour, placed their orders and left with their food. They never called my name or signalled me over. At 6:02 I walked out, pissed. At 6:18 they called to say my order was finally ready - almost an hour after the promised time. We're done with this place and that's a shame because the food is good. read more

3/7/24: my fave kabob place for years now. they're really good vibes here, very nice people. i always get the same things: combo kabob order with chicken and ground beef. the platter comes with salad, rice, a side (i usually get pumpkin) and this huge piece of bread. today i could only finish half. theyre very generous with their portions. i introduced my friend to this place tonight and im so happy she liked it. we both did carryout for our hubs. i got mine a gyro sandwich. cant wait to come back! read more

2.5 Stars Staff does not wear masks. This restaurant gets very busy at dinner time. After you order your meal in-person, you wait to the side until the food is ready and they call you up. At this point, you select the side dishes you want inside your take out container. They do not do the best job at clarifying nor explaining things if you have questions. We ordered a chicken kabob entree and a super combo with three types of meat, chicken, ground beef and lamb kabob. Nan bread, salad which goes inside the entree container, chickpeas, and meat sauce on top of the rice. Food was pretty good. Seasoned well. Rice is fluffy and nan bread is good. While I was waiting for my order, I observed a customer ask why the staff were not wearing masks? She even asked to see the manager who was not there. On the busiest night of the week, a Saturday evening, there ought to be a manager on duty. She took her food to go so she still ate it. I took mine to go, as did most people. I noticed a couple dining in and a family of three also dining in. I noticed the guy at the register handling the payments, also touched the nan bread and put them inside the paper bag a few times and went back to handling the payments again - all without washing hands. I think they need another person because the guy at the register and the guy cooking were moving as fast as they could to keep up with all the orders for online pick-up, in person orders, dining in. It was sort of hectic. But I wanted to give this place a try because of the solid reviews. Sadly, I will not return. They're not really taking covid-19 virus seriously. Let me tell you, best kabob in my life! I visited a friend in the area and grab lunch in the way there, only to find this amazing place!!! I had a classic gyro sandwich, didn't even took pictures because I was so excited eating! The service was exceptionally good, it is a family run business and dad and sons work there, I think they mentioned they have been serving authentic afghan food for over 20 yrs!!! They were soooo kind! Also they give a little cup of soup on the house while you wait for your food. I wish this place was closer home (DC) so I can eat here at least weekly. I LOVE Food Corner Kabob! I have been eating here for 10+ years and I also use them for catering for many of the offices that I conduct business in-services with. I have never been disappointed. Most of the food is cooked fresh on the grill, so the food is about the quality not the speed of rushing you along to get to the next customer. The owner is so nice and welcoming! If he sees that there is a wait for customers, he regularly offers people free soup while they wait. I've been a loyal Food Corner fan since the month after I moved to Northern Virginia many, many years ago. The food quality and staff friendliness has not waned in all the years I've been coming here. The food is so good and the ambiance so welcoming and friendly that Food Corner continues to be one of my top "must go to" restaurants for friends and family visiting from out of town. We rarely eat seafood (and never pork, beef, or chicken), but the salmon kabob here is one of out very rare treats. It never disappoints. I've been going here for years. The food is fantastic, Plus they give you free soup while you wait! I usually get the Palau Kabob with chicken and lamb curry and brown rice. Phenomenal. I think if I went to prison and got out like 10 years later, this would be the first place I'd go to eat. There are plenty of other good kebab places as well in the area to try out, like Ravi in Arlington. But I think the rice at Food Corner Kabob House sets it apart from the others. Absolutely my favorite neighborhood spot. The service here is so kind and nice and consistent. I recently changed to a vegan diet and I've had a hard time finding nearby places I can easily grab dinner from, and this is now one of my go to spots. I believe all of their veggie sides are vegan, but I would ask to double check if you order. I ordered the veggie platter which came with white rice and your choice of 3 sides. I ordered the potato, the lentil, and the cauliflower. All three of them were so good! They even made sure to let me know to only get the white rice because they cook their brown rice with meat. This meal was super satisfying and really quick- they make it right when you order so there is no wait time. The restaurant is small but cozy, with great ambiance.
