The deli/meat counter customer service was helpful and efficient. Produce department was organized and everything looked fresh and ripe. Looking forward to revisiting again in the future.

I think it's awesome they sell kringles from O & H from Wisconsin! They're the best! Especially the almond flavor! It's also almost half the price then buying it directly from them in Wisconsin even if I were to directly travel there! They do offer a nice variety of flowers at decent prices as well.

They are a standalone building, but is near to the Parkway Plaza Shopping Center, so they would be hard to miss. My most recent visit here was on April 5, 2026. I made an attempt to come in on the opening day in the afternoon, but there was no parking available, so I would wait until the following day to come in. It was still busy on March 13, 2026, but it wasn't as crazy as it was on opening day. The building looks big from the outside, but it isn't that much different from a regular grocery store. When I came in on the first visit, the place was pretty busy. There was staff helping everyone set up their accounts on their phone app. I had done it beforehand, so I didn't have to wait for that. I was speaking with one of the managers and found out this Virginia Beach location is also their regional hub. My mom was with me on this visit too, as she also wanted to see what it was all about. They do have a good amount of stables, and they have several items that are their own brand. There are brand name items and such, along with limited vegetable and fruit options. When looking at the stuff here, be sure to check the dates on them. Some of the items will be close to their use by date. They do have options for many different food types, but I am sure they could change from time to time. The feel overall for me so far has been that it's like Ollie's Bargain Outlet, but for grocery type items instead, while Ollie's has other stuff to choose from. They have a rewards program, so if you spend $150 or more or make at least three trips with a purchase, you can unlock their Wow! Insider program, which offers even more discounts for select items. It is valid for 30 days, but if you keep the pattern going, you can continue to be a Wow! Insider. On the most recent visit, my mom and I came in to get some items that they had on special. They had 93% lean ground beef for $3.99 per pound (each container was one pound) and dozen eggs on sale for $0.99. We did get a few other needed items, but it wasn't a large purchase that day. Overall, they are a good place to find your grocery stables. However, you will likely need to complement that trip to another place to get everything you may be looking for. They continually provide ads for what's on sale and available at that time. With it being a bargain market, don't expect to see everything you saw on a previous visit. Although they show what the savings could be compared to other stores, I did notice that they aren't completely correct. I'm guessing they were using national average cost data for such items. If you are looking to find some grocery items on the lower priced side, this place is worth checking out, but be sure to compare to their competitors too.

The parking seemed a bit tight, but only because of the opening day. I saw no debris. My wait was not long with an arrival around 11 AM. I probably exited around noon. I was not able to look them over as good as I hoped with long checkout lines and an afternoon appointment. The store was prepped for opening day. It was clean, organized and very well staffed. That for me is worth a bump in the review. The best sale item was the 93% beef for $5.99, limit 3. They also had a hard to find item. Wonderful cinnamon pistachios, I picked up a few. The store is billed as a big saving ms discounter. I found most items were comparable to other stores I shop. The sign that shows the competitor price difference is higher than I've seen locally. An example is Amy's Organic Soup. Grocery Outlet price $3.89, they had comparable prices above $5. Most store have Amy's around $4. I had positive interactions with staff and that also elevated my review. A manager at checkout went back to pull more beef to hit the limit. Checkout did take 20 minutes, or so but it went fast meeting customers in line. I will return when the lines settle down and shop them harder on prices. They are expanding with two new stores opening on the Southside soon. 3.5 rounding up.

They had pumpernickel and sourdough round loaves that I needed. They always have such a huge selection of inventory. They also have fresh sushi rolls. They also have a lot of parking spaces. Kroger is always very reasonable with their prices. The cashiers are usually nicer than most so that's a plus.

My wife and I have been ordering pickup through Instacart at this location for two years (picking…read moreup our own groceries, I am not an Instacart Shopper) and EVERY TIME, we wait for a long period of time and then have to go inside to track someone down to get our order. This happens on a weekly basis. And I learned yesterday that this happens because they prioritize Food Lion app orders over Instacart orders and treat Instacart customers like an inconvenience. After I had waited ten minutes without anyone collecting my groceries, they instantly brought an order out to someone who pulled up ten minutes after me. Yesterday was ridiculous. I waited for ten minutes because the Instacart app said that someone was gathering our groceries. I was the only car waiting until about the ten minute mark when another car arrived. I went inside to ask the Food Lion To Go employee how much longer it would be, and she said she was grabbing my order. I went and shopped for an item that I left off my order and then circled back around to the To Go area where I saw they had a cart full, which I thought was surely mine, so I went back out to my car. It wasn't my order. They rolled the cart out to the lady who had pulled up ten minutes after me! When I asked how she got her order before I did when I had been waiting ten minutes longer, the employee said "it doesn't work that way, you two ordered from different apps." How does that matter? I went back inside to make sure that my order was being worked and got an attitude from the attendant for being irritated by this ridiculously poor experience. So I guess what I learned is that if you want your order to be treated with urgency, you must use the Food Lion app. I don't use the Food Lion app because they charge a fee per order. It is less expensive to use Instacart+ at $100 a year than pay Food Lion's per order fee for the weekly orders I place. And I can use Instacart at many other stores. And that is exactly what I will do. Take my business to a store that doesn't treat me like an inconvenience.

The store is very clean and organized and the staff seems well trained. Even the shopping carts are in good repair and operate smoothly. Employees are polite, professional and helpful. At some local supermarkets, employees seem to just be going through the motions but that is not the case at this Pembroke Meadows location. Employees here seem to enjoy their jobs and place importance on providing a satisfying shopping experience to their customers. I don't get out this way too often but I have visited this store a few times over the past year. Grocery shopping is not generally one of my favorite activities but the experience at this Food Lion location is always pleasant.
