This store needs to be shut down!!!!!! Today on 1-11-24 there were only 2 cashiers!!!!!!! Mine you this a day before the storm. The lines were running from the front of the store to the back!!!!!! One manager shut her register down and left which only left 1 cashier!!!!! People left their carts full of food in the middle of the floor and walked out!!!!! This store has a lot of issues and should be under new management or shut it down!!!!!!! Jewels in the neighborhood ALWAYS have at least 5 registers open and they're much much more professional!!!!! Tried to buy 1 gallon milk that is marked @ $1.79, can see it's not just 1 or 2 containers but 2 more shelves below it also. Apparently this label was for 1/2 gal (need to get your glasses and decipher the label). I was ridiculed at register and the checkout supervisor didn't even want to deal with me, walked away and referred me to the "dairy manager." Then was told I need to learn to read by "dairy manager" as he also walked away. $1.10 difference made them so irrational. FYI, no store manager to be had at that time. read more

I really am a fan beyond what more are when it comes to Food 4 Less. They are just that. I find that you can find the competitive bulk of other places here such as Costco and Sam's Club. I mean come on, you don't even need a membership to get the fixings at a lower cost? Of course you are going to come here. Their fruit and vegetable section is always very well stocked and I can appreciate when you need to ask a question, there is always a worker nearby who doesn't give attitude and is very pleasant. I also can respect the fact that they have really stocked up merchandise, not only the regular run of the mill items that you find elsewhere but even a section for the ethnic market, this my friends is definitely a plus when it comes to being diverse. Parking lot is quite big again to accommodate many cars and plenty of clean carts that actually roll! Now that's a good thing to have. Now, one thing I can really say about this location is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I know, why would I say that? STRICTLY A REVIEW OF GAS. The gas here was literally 30 cents cheaper than the big chain gas station down the street. Sometimes it's crowded but it's worth a wait. If you have a store card you always get a 3 cent discount. That discount can increase if you spend $100 on groceries. Once in awhile I treat my car to 93 octane gas because the price is fair. read more

This location is a dump. Never any carts available unless you bring one from the cart return. Go in with a 10 item list you walk out with 6. Sale items have no selection. Example: coffemate creamer was $1.99. Great price. I like sugar free. All but one flavor in stock. The rest were oos on 2 separate trips. Lines are always a mile long. And if you have to deal with the customer service desk be ready to wait. And Countless customers there not wearing a mask properly if at all. Nothing is said to them. The worst. I've seen this store go down hill over a lengthy period of time. The latest: they decided to close at 10 tonight. If you just need one thing and you are trying to avoid the crowds? Sol. This is the 2nd time. Coming back from Costco Monday I just ran in for one thing. No one at service desk. No self check out. No express lines. 3 overworked under paid cashiers. I keep coming back to this place and give it chances because I like to keep my money within the town I live and support local businesses, but no more! The food may be for less, but so is the experience. The staff here is terrible, the moment they see you walking up with a lot of groceries they greet you with an eye roll. Not understanding the $250 plus we spend here bi-weekly helps keep this place open, leading them to have their jobs. Not only that, but you have to bag your own groceries (I get it, that's how they provide food - 4 less). Although it's very uncomfortable when the cashier is staring you down, mumbling to herself, and waiting for you to finish. I was sorely disappointed in this place. The prices were NOT for less. I went into the store with a budget consistent to that I used at Jewel and ended up buying LESS because everything was just as expensive maybe more than Jewel. They have good deals if you are buying in bulk and have a big family; however, if you are shopping for an apartment for two, it doesn't save you much if anything. The store itself is relatively clean and have nice staff. Everyone there was very helpful. There wasn't a lot of variety in their product selections; which makes it not as good of an option as other stores. Currently, I split my shopping between Aldi and Mariano's and am very happy with it. I save an average of $20 a week, sometimes more. If you have a large family, Food4Less will save you money, however, if you are a single or just a family of 2, I would shop at other stores. read more

This establishment is disgusting. The store looks like a tornado went through it. Random pallets on the floor of random things at any given time to be sold. I am a fan of this particular grocery store chain and location. Very clean and friendly staff. Huge selection of name brands and generic items. Great prices and weekly sales help to keep them competitive with the Aldi next door and the Jewel across the street. Gotta try the bakery department if you are in the area. The birthday cakes are pretty dam good and very cheap. My wife and her family have been buying cakes here for some time and I am glad they turned me on to them, because now everytime we have parties for the boys, people always want to know where we bought the cake. It is fun to see their faces when we tell them it was a food4less cake. lol.. All in all, a good place to get all your grocery needs. You can't ask for much more from a grocery store. read more

I used to shop here and they have great prices. The options are not so great, but the produce here is better than Ultra Foods and more affordable than Jewel. I moved and no longer live that close, but a decent store for groceries. I prefer to spend slightly more on better quality. But if you are on a budget, it's a great option. The gas station isn't special but they do have a rewards program. I never spent enough to redeem any rewards, so they could probably change that policy. Overall, a decent place to buy groceries but then again nothing all that special. read more

The Food 4 Less in Alsip, IL here is an excellent grocery store that me and my Mother have been going to for well over 7 years. The store has inexpensive but good food, many name brand variety's as well as some good generic ones like Kroger brand food and such. The other reviewers gave good reviews and I don't have much more to add other then to say the bakery is good, the store is clean and so are the bathrooms in it and the most important thing is not only are most things cheap or inexpensive but that the workers i.e. cashiers, clerks and managers are very friendly and helpful. There are new motorized carts for disabled people that the former manager of the store Chris had ordered and they work great and disabled people should have an easy time shopping in this store. I come here once a week for the past year and usually don't have any issues. Today was a different story. I got pop because it said $.88. Went to pay and it came up for $1.68 I believe (can't remember the exact price because I didn't end up getting them) I told Lisa the cashier that the sign clearly said $.88. She said no. I said can you have someone double check, she said no. I said I was going to go double check and she told me I couldn't because she had a line. I still walked away and snapped the picture. I came back and showed her and she said they weren't that price, even if they truly weren't she still should've honored their tag. If you look at the picture there's clearly ginger ale and Dr Pepper in that display. I got so irritated because she was so unhelpful that I told her I'm not getting any pop at all then. Be careful if u pay with cards,I did one purchase of $17.00 at the store and the other $20 at their gas station,but both of on my bank statement they charged me $100 each.always keep your receive if u pay with cards! I do my shopping here weekly. Overall the store is good with better prices. The people in the deli are usually friendly except for my last visit. The woman was throwing my lunch meat around and expressed her annoyance with having to work. She made me feel very uncomfortable and she was very unprofessional.
