The Fried Focaccia with the Burrata was also very delicious only bone to pick with that is I wished there was more cheese on it how delicious it was! Cute bar in downtown/Pearl area. Only docking a star because for a craft cocktail spot I didn't feel like they had a super great variety of drinks. My friends also didn't love a lot of their drinks. I tried my friends mezcal drink and it was SO smoky. Like too smoky you couldn't taste anything else. I tried the White Noise and I liked it. I also ordered a plain gin and tonic with grapefruit and it was fine. I've had better cocktails before though nothing here was super exciting to me but it's a decent bar! Had a lovely time on a Saturday night with no wait. Cocktails were creative and delicious--my favorite was the B-A-N-A-N-A-S. I usually find banana cocktails too artificially flavored and unbalanced but this was honestly perfect. The pork piccata mustard-caper sauce was punchy and delicious, but every bite really needed a good swipe of persimmon sauce to cut through the saltiness of the pork. Very much toeing the line in terms of almost too salty. Service was lively with a good rhythm and no hovering. Great decor. What a cool trendy bar. Fools and horses is a perfect first date spot but it also kind of gives friends night out if you wanna play cards. A much more relaxed and laid-back vibe not a rowdy place. The steak frites were incredible, the steak is cooked in a garlic herb butter, and it melts as they bring it to your table it was cooked to just the right temperature. The fries are seasoned perfectly. Even the arugula has a good dressing. It's like a citrus dressing. The Cobb salad I would totally recommend. It's fresh the bacon bits give this Tan the tomatoes were really fresh. The dressing is awesome. It's a good salad. Definitely could serve two people with the salad, but the steak is just for one person. The cocktail menu is amazing and the bartenders have awesome recommendations. I'd heard rave reviews about this place and had it bookmarked for the longest time until I was able to grab some reservations when my friend visited. The whole experience was rather odd? Went in on a Sat night and there was a sign stating wait to be seated but absolutely no one came by until I just approached a server and asked what to do if we had a reservation. They just pointed us towards a table and brought over menus shortly thereafter. Drinks were interesting and good and we definitely would have grabbed more if we weren't planning on bar hopping a bit. The interior is cute but definitely louder than anticipated. There is also food available but limited options if you're a vegetarian like me. Perhaps my expectations had been really high due to the hype, but all in all it was a standard bar experience for me. Service was great which was the silver lining though. The food itself was genuinely excellent - the Black Cod was superb and the Steak Frites were cooked beautifully. Unfortunately, the service significantly undermined what should have been a memorable evening, especially as we were celebrating my wife's birthday. Our waitress made us feel like an inconvenience every time we tried to order drinks. The pacing was all over the place, with dishes arriving at completely different times rather than as a cohesive meal. We had to flag someone down just to get a second round of drinks, and throughout the entire evening, no one offered us water or brought our check without being asked. For a cocktail bar at this price point, the level of inattentiveness was disappointing. The kitchen clearly has talent, but the front-of-house experience really dampened what should have been a special birthday celebration. Came in for some drinks and snacks after seeing a matinee show at The Armory. It was fairly empty, being only 4pm on a Sunday. There were a couple folks outside and just two other parties inside. The space is nice - great for chatting catching up with a friend or a date night. The large cocktail menu is divided up between spirit forward vs. refreshing drinks. For the first round we opted for the Cash & Curry and one of the spirit forward drinks. I honestly can't remember which we ended up going with but it was delicious though on the sweet side. The Cash & Curry was also pretty sweet but had that nice curry leaf flavor whenever you took a sip. For snacks, we got the board which came with a couple cheeses, some butter and the delicious beef jerked salami type of meet. The board was pretty, though I could have done with some more substance - more bread for the butter, for one. All in all we had a good experience here and had fun looking at the walls. The bartender was all alone when we visited so it took a while to get drinks, but they were friendly and helpful when we had questions. They also checked on us and kept our water full so that's always a plus! First Impressions - Dark ,Sultry and sophisticated ! As you walk in you are instantly greeted with the opulent bar and you cant help but be impressed . The black-green of the walls and an intricate yellow and olive pattern wallpaper brings out the greens in the space and allow the pressed tin backbar to take Centre stage . The darker tones are in direct juxtaposition with the brightness of the bar and the small details even the lighting are all things that make you feel instantly drawn in . The Paniolo focus is carried through in the décor, like the charcoal drawing of a horse over the fireplace, and the taxidermy bull skull that hangs on the opposite wall. It's a direct contrast to the décor at Pink Rabbit next door which is owned by the same people . The menu is eclectic and many of the bar's cocktails incorporate produce and kitchen ingredients . The cocktail menu is divided in -"Spirit Forward" and "Refreshing." And surprisingly that's how my hubby and I like to describe our individual drink choices . The food menu seems to adhere in a similar way, with heartier dishes to accompany a more spirit-forward experience, and some light ones . We opted for the charcuterie board where you pick and build your own - I thought the choices were limited with the cheeses and accompaniments . We got the cash and curry and Liho Liho and were impressed by both the drinks . The bartender was kind enough to talk about the flavor profiles because I honestly was skeptical with miso and curry being part of a drink .The drink was indeed refreshing as they describe in the menu . I feel guilty that until last week, I had not spent time here. I am so glad to have finally changed that - and I am sure to be back at Fools and Horses often. I love how the space has been designed, first and foremost. From street level, guests approach the bar at a higher elevation, giving the interior a mysterious and dark vibe, filling a niche in the Pearl. The outdoor space is substantial and is even covered by the elements. When you enter, the thoughtful ambiance immediately relaxes you as the kind and approachable staff welcomes you. Tables and chairs are all comfortable, and you will be happy wherever you end up. I preferred the window seating so we could still people-watch and enjoy some late afternoon sun. The menus are perfect, and I highly recommend the Kokomo. We paired our drinks with the happy hour oysters.... which are the best I have found in the city. I cannot believe how perfect the oyster deals are here. You can expect me to spend at least one evening here per week with a good book and more than a dozen oysters. Despite the great pricing, the presentation is perfect. Keep it up, team! It can fill up quickly, so get here early to grab a table and enjoy the evening. I love this place! read more

I thought it was going to be more western themed but it's more Hawaiian/Portuguese cowboy themed. The 4 drinks we had were 5 Longhorn, Blackbelt in Origami, Cash & Curry and On the Pull. We shared the charcuterie board and holy smokes it was amazing. Cabernet reduction, lillipoi passion fruit butter, short rib jerky and manchego. We felt pretty good about the experience so we got talked into a couple pasteis de nata which were very unconventional and more like a berry profiterole. Been waiting on this place to open for a month or so. I heard from a friend that Fools And Horses was recommending reservations, so I got a table for two at 5pm Their website displayed zero information other than a pretty picture and the address until the morning of their opening (Wednesday, October 5). Upon looking at their menu, I immediately assumed there would be specials available on arrival. I mean, there was all this talk about Paniolo food, so I was expecting some Hawaiian cowboy food. The menu consists of 4 starters and 3 entrees (2 of which are fish). Immediately, my friend pointed out the error on oyster prices (6 for $12 or 12 for $32). The server explained that the size of the oysters was behind the pricing, only to return and say that it was a misprint on the menu. (The website also has this error.) The Paniolo Range is their version of a cheese plate. It included 2 cheeses (one was manchego), 3 pieces of bread, Pipikaula (rib meat jerky), peppers, and Lilikoi butter (passion fruit butter) with strawberry pieces and microgreens. The Lilikoi butter was a delightful addition; nowhere near as sweet as I assumed. This dish is where my food love story ended. I also got the Confit Taro and Potato. Wish I hadn't, though. It looked like it should be flavorful, but it was not. There were giant pieces of taro in the dish, and I so wanted to love it. Nope. My friend got the oysters. Man!!! They were so tiny. Think silver dollar size, or smaller. She was not happy that she was given a small fork, but no spoon for the sauce. The drinks were okay. My friend got the Fools Gold while I got the Púa Hana. They were both quite sweet for our tastes. The Cash and Curry is absolutely delicious. (This and the Paniolo Range are the only things that would get me to return.) How can a drink be both refreshing and savory at the same time? The Cash and Curry pulls this off. I'm not quite sure if there is actual curry in the drink (there is a curry leaf garnish), but there is definitely miso in the concoction. Also to note, their fancy ice. In my first drink, there was a big ol' log of an ice cube. In my Cash and Curry, the giant ice cube had a pattern carved in it. Overall, I was disappointed in the food options and was expecting more actual Hawaiian food. read more
