I got the dinner portion for pernil and it came with rice and a small salad for $15. Everything…read moretasted great. Plenty for two. The lady was very friendly and helpful. L was pretty surprised that he liked the food so much. We've had Dominican food plenty of times, it's not something we eat often but since this place had great reviews, I wanted to try it; the pernil was really good here. It wasn't overly seasoned. I did throw away the excess oil from the pork, other than that, it was tender, juicy and delicious. The lil salad was a great side to the fatty meat. Will definitely return to try other items.

And I'm saying that as a Dominican with a Dominican grandfather who cooks just like this. I have NEVER been able to find a place that makes rice the way my grandpa does. Like that real, home-cooked Dominican rice that actually tastes like something. And of course I don't always want to bother him when I'm in the mood for good Dominican food... so I'm genuinely so happy I found this place. Ordering was super easy and pickup was quick. Prices are also really good for the amount of food you get. And everything I've tried has been delicious. The beans though... oh my God. I'm still thinking about the beans. For the amount of food you get for the price, it's amazing! I can't wait to keep ordering from here, and I'm honestly already thinking about placing larger orders for events in the future. If there's one local business in Queens you should support, it's this one. Hands down one of the best Dominican spots!

TLDR- Reviews seemed good so took a chance. Disappointing first time experience with this…read morerestaurant. I cannot speak to the atmosphere as this is based on a delivery order, but I did speak to someone on the phone who was kind and seemingly attentive, but ultimately I don't think was paying attention and was just agreeing to anything to ultimately get me to place the order? Order arrived incorrectly prepared, missing entree inclusions and wrong beverages. This order was placed at 3PM ish in the afternoon, so I am not sure why items were unavailable. Felt dishonest and was a poor reflection on the restaurant's integrity. Called to ask for recommendations and asked for jerk sauce on jerk chicken. Ordered on Aug.5th and spent $65 dollars on oxtail, escovitch fish and jerk chicken meals plus 2 mild beef patties, coco bread and 3 beverages. I also ordered mac pie, but was refunded since they didn't have it. ALLLLL entrees were missing steamed cabbage and only 1 entree had a sole piece of plantain. Oxtail needed to be cooked a bit longer as pieces were inconsistently tenderized, 'escovitch' fish was just soggy fried fish with no peppers or onions to be found and although decently spiced jerk chicken was dry...like the rice in all the entrees because there was also no gravy present. The only thing that came correctly were the patties and coco bread I didn't really sign up to eat pounds of dry rice and peas. Don't send food out like this.

It's a fairly large restaurant. We ordered cocktails, few tapas and the steak. I would've ordered another entree but they were out of dish after dish that I would've tried.. well it turned out to be enough food since the omelette dish was so dense and I filled up on bread. The best dish was the shrimp with garlic tapa which I usually wouldn't bother ordering but I've already tried most of the menu. Lots of garlic. Really tasty ..dipped the oil with the bread. We were sitting there for a while, waiting for our drinks and other food but nothing came out so I wanted more bread since I was starving. My first meal that day. One the guys brought more bread for us quickly. The steak and omelette finally came. I would never order the omelette dish but L wanted to try it and it was tapas Tuesday so there was a slight discount. Very bland. Not enough egg, too much potato, very dry so we spooned a lil of the garlic oil from the shrimp dish and it helped a lot. I had a lil but L ate the rest. Salad was good but it was overdressed. The steak was a lil bit bloody in the middle even though we ordered it medium so it wasn't as good as we had it before. We still didn't get our cocktails because the bartender lady kept making margaritas which were only $5 that day instead of our $17 drinks. Someone came past 7:30pm and our waitress said he was gonna make our drinks. The drinks were pretty good but we already finished our food. Usually I would have ordered one of each cocktail at Sala but I was full and had other places to go. The slow service and the unavailability of certain dishes has impacted my recommendation to others but I still like the drinks here and we did enjoy the gambas tapa dish a lot..
