So I came here with 3 of my friends late last night. It wasn't crowded but we were not seated right away. Instead a heavy set guy asked us to have a seat in the waiting area. Three minutes later he returns and seats us at a table. The place was kind of small but it was clean. I ordered a drink called the Blue Code, it was very weak. So if you're looking for something strong don't order that. My friends all had the bend me over, they seemed to like it and got a buzz. I ordered the BBQ shrimp Rasta Pasta. It was pretty good. Although my time spent here was ok. One of the busboys came over and took my friends plate away from her because HE thought she was finished. We told our waitress. The waitress brings the bus boy out and asked was he the one. My friend said yes. He says "I took your plate because all you had was white rice and shrimp tails". WTH??? Since when does a busboy decide if you're done eating? Last I checked, we were paying for the food. The restaurant provided her with some extra food to take home but she left it right on the table. Went to Footprints Cafe - Coney Island yesterdat (June 8th 2021) It was great to see that they follow all the Covid protocols and Covid procedures at the front desk. I walked in wanting to treat myself to a tasty mouthwatering rasta pasta with shrimp and stake but instead received a stake that was burned to a chrisp around the fatty edges, the pasta source was not the same, the shrimps were great and the Heineken bottle beverage drink was as hot as the outside temperatur of 88 degrees, upon finishing and leaving 3/4 of my drink I paid the bill and advised the bar tender of the warm hot beer - he seemed not to care and brushed it off by just opening the cooler and saying that the refrigertion was good. I paid my entire bill and parted my way by excusing my self for the evening to the bartender with a friendly acknowledgment but when I parted away from my chair and said have a great evening to the main head waitress inside I received no response whatsoever - really! The Footprints can use a new make over as many of the screen tv's are well well out dates and fuzzy to a blur. read more

I was nervous about coming here due to all of the mixed reviews and plethora of 1 star reviews but I had to try the RASTA PASTA! We came in on a weekday after hanging out on the Coney Island Boardwalk. We arrived at about 4:30pm. We were immediately seated and were served warm cornbread. The cornbread was absolutely delicious and a nice touch since we were on the verge of getting really hungry. The ambiance was trendy and the Caribbean tunes were blasting. It was almost like we were transported to an island. We ordered two glasses of wine. They have an extensive drink menu with a variety of drink names that will catch your eye. As far as food, even though I already knew what I wanted to order, I scanned the menu. The Footprints menu is lengthy. There are so many options you are bound to find something to your liking. For entrées I already knew I'd be ordering the rasta pasta with chicken fingers while my boyfriend had some type of curried salmon dish. One thing I must say is it did take quite awhile for our food to come. There were two women sitting at the table next to us and I overheard them say they had been waiting for 45 minutes for their food. This would be totally understandable if the restaurant was packed; however there were about 10-12 people dining at the time. We did not order any appetizers and waited about 30-35 minutes for our food. Possibly longer than that; I just remember starting to get a little antsy. Nonetheless when the food arrived, everything was absolutely delicious. I do not generally care for spicy food so the rasta pasta was a little too hot for me but the jerk flavors were on point. So if you like spicy, this is something you might want to consider. Also the portions were pretty huge. I had left overs, enough for what could possibly be another full meal. The food is absolutely delicious, most of the time. The service is hit or miss, when they're busy then all manners goes out of the window. Majority of the time the Rasta Pasta is some of the best I've had but 10% of the time (like yesterday) it's dry. But when it's done right, the jerk chicken tenders, Cajun chicken, and oxtail with Rasta pasta are all amazing! I rarely sit to eat because once there was a leak, dripped right on me, and I barely received an apology so take out and enjoy! read more

This one star is for the actual star (none other than N.P.H.) who by chance happened to be dining at what I consider to be the worst pub in Brooklyn if not the world. From the minute my party walked in and was verbally assaulted by the bouncer/host/manager through a long and painful wait for sub-par, overpriced, undercooked food to the bitter end when our bill had to be adjusted such that the items we were charged for were billed at the prices printed in the menu, this was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. After being abruptly and rudely informed by a man wearing a security shirt that we couldn't just walk into this not so fine establishment, my party was told that a table for four was available and merely needed to be wiped down and that we just needed to wait for five minutes. Fifteen minutes later, we were escorted to seats at the upstairs bar, which wound up being perfect for NPH viewing, but was not the space for which we had been waiting. As we sat at the bar, a bartender/server who may have been working on her first day ever at this cafe and in the service industry proceeded to ignore us rather than even provide such basic items as water and menus. The menus were thrown at us by the bouncer/host/manager, and I was painfully jabbed by the corner of one. When we read the menus, we noticed that they differed from the menus posted outside the cafe and in the waiting area, but it wasn't the case that there was a separate upstairs bar menu, it was just that random items such as the sandwich my friend had seen on the other two menus were left off. Did Neil Patrick Harris pull a magic trick that made the sandwich disappear? Who knows. This wasn't Hollywood's Magic Castle; it was Coney Island's Upper Level of Hell. After sitting with our menus closed for another twenty minutes, we had to flag down the same bartender to place our orders. Two of us ordered chicken tenders with fries priced at $11.95 on the menu, one of us ordered a special, and the one who had her eye on the mysterious disappearing sandwich chose a different sandwich in its place. A waitress behind the bar informed us that the bar was no longer serving alcohol, which was fine with us because we just wanted water. However, the waters still took a long time to make their way from one side of the bar to the other. Fifteen minutes later, which was beginning to go beyond the grace period allowed for food delivery at a busy restaurant, the bartender informed my friend that the restaurant was out of sandwiches entirely, which was pretty surprising considering that we were dining in the hours between lunch and dinner. My friend chose a salad instead. Around twenty minutes later, three of our orders finally arrived--the special, and the two plates of chicken tenders. These chicken "tenders" were actually as dry as leather and not what we were expecting based on the name. At Burger King and American restaurants and pubs throughout the states, "chicken tenders" means breaded and fried chicken strips, not chicken wings minus the bone. The fries were not only cold and soggy but also undercooked. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out deep fryer times when a place is using frozen food that likely had instructions on the bag. I had to get up and walk to the waitress station to get salt in attempt to rectify the fry situation, and while I was there, I asked a waitress for a silverware set for my friend who had never received one. Of course they were out, and although the server said she would bring one, my friend had no choice but to eat her food animal style. Meanwhile, my other friend wound up waiting for her salad for two hours. Maybe Neil Patrick Harris was hiding it in his magic baseball cap the whole time, but we never saw it. We wound up flagging down the bouncer/host/manager, informing him of the salad situation, and asking him to take it off the bill. After enduring another endless wait, we finally get our bill only to discover that our chicken-not-so-tender orders were priced at $13.50 and $14.50 instead of $11.95 as advertised on the menu. Eventually $4 was deducted from our bill, and we made our way back out into the sunshine and out of the upper level of hell. I don't know if it was the bartender's first day serving or if her mind was under the influence of substances from the "Electric Kool Aid Acid Test" to reflect the counter-culture spirit of the Mermaid Parade, but the veteran employees weren't on their game either. This place should be avoided at all costs. A better meal could be fished out of the dirty ocean or a garbage can on the boardwalk. read more

I giving two because the food was good, . I went for a lunch, and like most people my lunch break is 1 hour. Upon entering the location I was seated right away, and then had to wait approximately 8 minutes until the hostess that sat us asked us if we had given order, when I told her no she then took our order. At this time I'm yet to see a waitress. Surprisingly at this hour they were only 10 people in the place of which we were the only two that hasn't placed our order yet. Our food came out in a timely matter however do to all the waiting my lunch hour is abruptly coming to an end as I look for the waitress to request the bill that took another 10 minutes to even locate her. When I asked her to give us she smelled like that okay 3 minutes later I am yet to receive the bill. Minute later I now get up request a bell and stand there until she gives it to me we pay and leave. I think this experience is unacceptable due to as I stated earlier they were only 10 people in the location . read more

Please understand this review is fully tempered by the fact that it is Mother's Day and I fully expected a long wait, and possibly harried wait staff....what I got was a swift lesson in what "Cutting off your nose to spite your face means." We got in and got a seat immediately. It wasn't crowded and the sun was shining so I decided to sit on the patio. MISTAKE #1) There was curry on the table cloth and when I pointed it out to the server she got a napkin and proceeded to smear it over more of the tablecloth and with her little self satisfied smirk she walked away. I was grossed out, but decided not to be too hard on them. 2) We ordered our food and then waited for it to come...in the meantime we got some gnats and other bugs who also decided it was lunch time. I pointed it out to our server and he proceeded to mash the bugs onto the already curry smeared tablecloth. OMG! I threw up a little bit in my mouth and switched seats. I guess the Boardwalk attracts all kinds of flys and gnats :'/ 3) (The only highlight) When we got our salads, they were delicious and I looked forward to my food! 4) The food came and the server took away my plate.....and NEVER came back. WTF!? After about 5 minutes. I asked another waitress who absolutely couldn't understand that I couldn't eat without a fookin' plate. When she eventually tracked down our server, my food was cold. SHIT! And then our server proceeds to get into an argument with the table behind us about the "mussels" he brought them as an appetizer. It turns out they were clams. And as much as the guy was trying to tell the waiter this, he kept saying they are just different colored mussels. In fact, he said he was positive they were mussels. Rilly? rilly? I get it all seafood looks alike right? GTFOHWTBS! Eventually another waitress came and apologized saying we don't sell mussels anymore, but haven't had a chance to change the menu. Rilly? rilly? Now the check debacle....by the time we were supposed to get it they had run out of servers and no one had any food. Apparently our server was the most senior server on the floor and he was needed EVERYWHERE. One guy was late, and they decided (on Mother's Day, at 2 pm, on a sunny hot Sunday...do you catch my drift?) to send him home. Rilly? rilly? So because of this we waited more than 20 minutes for our check. We never saw our server again and we were overcharged for our meal, but without the stupid waiter to clarify and the mounting assault on my sanity from all of the bugs because no one cleared the table, I just decided to pay it and run (BTW his tip was already in the bill...can you beat that bs?). It was a crappy end to what started out as a lovely meal. Smh. All of the things I would have expected to be a problem were totally fine, but the things that did bother me literally made my skin crawl. And when I was leaving I realized just how bad it was....the entire restaurant was full, but no one had any food. Not one table had an appetizer, a salad, NOTHING. Came here on a Saturday afternoon for a drink after the mermaid parade. Ambience: We were expecting a good bar scene but this restaurant has a small bar, nevertheless, we decided to stay. Service. Before we even walked in, the bouncer or whoever he was, demanded to know where we were going. I understand that if wanted a table we needed to provide our names to the hostess, but we were just going to the bar. Even so, his tone was so rude; it was unnecessary. We sat at the bar and ordered two shots of fireball. We asked the female bartender how much it was who then asked another guy at the bar who told her it was $6. Now the shots were served in this overly large shot glass and therefore only filled ¼ of the way. Although I am no expert, bartending for a year taught me what a shot is, and this was not a real shot. We did not say anything because for $6, it was not that bad. We provide the bartender a $20 bill and waited for what seem like ages to get our change back. Apparently they had no cash in the register and someone else had to go get it; did he run to the bank?? After we obtained our change back, we realized we were charged $8 for each shot. When inquired about it, we were informed the female bartender was in training and she did not know the price. When we pointed out she asked a more experienced person who in turn told her it was $6, the third person indicated that he also had provided her with the wrong information. We pointed out that the shot was not even a real shot and one of the males proceeded to convinced us that it was a shot. Not to sound like an alcoholic, but I have had my share of shots and I know for a fact that the shot was 2/3 of what a real shot is; my friend also agreed. An establishment with good customer skills would have honored the price first told to us. I guess $4 is more important than 2 unsatisfied customers. read more

My review coincides with a lot of other reviewers it seems. The food is good, some plates are great. I loved the rasta pasta & the oxtail. But service is absolutely atrocious. First of all, be aware that they charge gratuity up-front for parties of 4 or more (at most places it's parties of 6+). So we were forced to tip even though the service we received was totally unworthy. Strike one was when they only brought out two glasses of water for our table of four. Did they just assume half of us weren't thirsty? Strike two was when we sat waiting for our waiter for so long that we were tempted to get up and leave. Once he finally showed up, we ordered. Our appetizer comes out & the waiter flings the plate across the table like its a frisbee, spilling 1/3 of the food on the table. Then he walks off without apology or recognition. The only time he was prompt to serve our table was to collect his guaranteed tip. Our main courses come out cold. Two people at the table ordered the exact same thing yet their plates had two totally different sides for no apparent reason. We came in around 8pm which seems like a reasonable dinner hour but I guess they like to get the party started very early, so we had to eat our meal in a dark room with blaring reggae & hip hop (which is fine for late night, but not for dinner). And good luck finding a manager to talk to. I would normally give 2 stars because the food was good, but my experience here was just awful. read more

I went to this place at this location for the first time. I ordered at the front desk for takeout with my friend. She ordered Grilled Chicken and Rasta Pasta and I ordered Salmon and Rasta Pasta. I know that salmon takes a little longer to grill but not an hour and a half longer.. My friends food came out pretty quickly and we were left waiting for my food. I overheard the hostess say that only 1 order was put in with my friends food order but nothing was said to us. After 45 minutes of waiting the hostess tells me that my food would be out in a few minutes still with no explanation as to why we are still waiting. My friend was becoming upset and decided to start eating her food while we were waiting in the lobby area. We were then told that she can't eat in this area the manager would have a fit. I then complained that we have been waiting almost an hour for our food and if the manager had a problem that he should come down here because i do too. A couple minutes later my food finally arrived. The food was delicious however the customer service at this location was terrible. I used the restroom at the location and it was BEYOND filthy!! Urine on the toilet and tissue all over the floors. On top of that NO SOAP!! GROSS!! Also as I was sitting in the lobby area a curtain covering the wall was moved back to open the door wider for the performing band to come in. When I looked down at the floor a huge rib bone was on the floor that the bouncer saw and kicked back under the curtain!!! read more

Let me start by saying, I've been to the other Footprints in East Flatbush and it was delicious. This is why I was certain that a long drive to Coney Island from the Bronx would be worth it. I was so wrong! There was a very nice hostess at the front that sat us at the bar because our table was not ready when we arrived. No problem there I'm always down for a quick drink and appetizer before dinner. The gentleman at the bar were clearly overwhelmed and seemed a bit rushed and frustrated. We waited about 30 mins for our table which was upstairs in the lounge area. It looked unkept and without life when we reached to our table. The table was not prepped with utensils or napkins. We sat at the wobbly table with our drinks and waited for the conchs fritter cakes that ended up tasting like cotton balls. The waitress was already bothered and visibly annoyed. We asked if we can order and get water. With a slight roll of the eye she asked several questions about what we ordered at the bar. She then took our order and told us it would be a long wait. Once the food arrived my stew chicken was like warm and the rice and peas were mushy and disgusting. To add to this disgusting meal, the waitress never returned until we stopped her to ask again for water to wash down the disgusting food. Needless to say I left most of my food on my plate. I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant and their lack of professionalism. Perhaps my expectations were high, however this was a terrible experience. I have been to this establishment a couple of times and most recently on there Grand Opening after Sandy. Unfortunately maybe my party and I got there too early, but you could obviously tell they were not ready to start service (people still mopping, trying to figure out the radio situation with music blaring to decibel levels greater than 120. and hanging up pictures etc...) Anyway we still decided to eat. I was the only one to order a drink (Frozen Margarita with Patron)... and that was a mistake. It was undrinkable... so instead I asked for a Carona. This was the second time I have gotten a beer from this place... and let me tell you, both times the beer was room temperature! I decided to just drink it anyway. The honey garlic wings were okay as an appetizer. My gf had the oxtail and it tasted okay, but have had better. I had the grilled red snapper and it was good too but a little too much char on it, otherwise cooked good (I have had it before here and it was really good the last time). The only desert they had was cheesecake, so we did not get desert. We got the bill and they charged for the margarita and not the beer (the less expensive drink). We just sucked it up and left. I really hope this place gets back on its feet but only if done right. I live near the one on Clarendon road and I can say as an establishment the food is good, the cocktails are strong (sometimes too strong... but that may be your thing), but the service stinks. Go for the food but if you cannot tolerate bad service (and thats when its not even busy), I would not go. read more

This is my first yelp review. I never felt compelled to write one in the past, but I hated my experience at Footprints enough to give this a shot. When I walked in I was almost attacked by a guy at the door, as if I were an intruder, and when I told him I had called in an order he grudgingly allowed me to stand in the entrance way - though he clearly barred me from entering the restaurant area. I waited an exceptionally long period of time for someone to come, and when they did, they charged me a dollar more for my salad then they had marked on the menu. The guy brushed me off when I pointed out the difference between what the menu stated and what he charged me, saying they had recently made a change in the price. He was rude and talking to someone else the entire time I was interacting with him. Then, he told me that he didn't have any change - I was owed 75 cents after being overcharged, and he simply told me that "he owes me one." I asked if there was change inside and he promptly replied "no." In sum, Footprints overcharged me, refused to give me change, made me wait an exceptionally long period of time and failed to offer even a slight vestige of respect or concern for their customer. Missing food & rudeness served up freely........ My co-workers and I placed a large order today for over $220. We drove to pick it up and were assured by the staff that all the items were there and the gentleman said he personally checked it and gave us the receipt with the food items checked off. Well Lo and behold after driving back to the office one co-worker's food was missing. We immediately called to notify them of the mixup and asked could they have someone deliver the missing dish to us as our lunchtime was over and we did not have enough time to drive back to the location and get back to work on time. This is when the service went south.....The restaurant manager placed the onus onus to check the order and questioned whether we were really missing the food item. Hmmm we just placed an order for $220 and you really think we would say we're missing an order of jerk chicken?? Really?? The most inexpensive dish was missing? We ended up having to go back after work to get the missing food. When we went to the restaurant no courtesy was extended and to make matters worse they did not compensate us for their mistake and even went as far as charging us an additional $1.75 to switch the pieces of chicken originally ordered. We exercised a choice to spend our money there. A little common courtesy & customer service goes a long way for repeat business and you just lost 11 customers! read more

So, my friend Doreen begged and pleaded for me to try this amazing restaurant right on Coney Island!! Now, I grew up in Bensonhurst and spend most of my summers in coney. I've always past by footprints cafe and never thought it was a restaurant. Due to it's appearance outside . Now, I've been a chef de cuisine for about 5 years now and I know a good amount of ingredients when it comes to Caribbean cuisines and it's absolute My top 5 fav. What I really didn't like to be honest was the sign and name of it. A restaurant who puts footprints as a name to it doesn't really sound appealing to me. I actually thought it was a doctors office. When I'd past by it. But anyhow, we went inside the place looks pretty decent the employees greeted very nice and immediately sat us down. So we order two glasses of Merlot it took the server about 10 minutes to come back to us and tell us they only had enough for one glass. Looks like they must sell merlot often in that place but there wasn't much of a crowed for them to go 86 on it. So, I decided to take the last glass. Loved it! Now, we get to the ordering part my friend ordered the oxtail Rasta pasta and I had the jerk chicken. My friend was very pleased with her plate, oxtail was slowly braised seasoning was spot on! Just great! Now, as for my jerk chicken Rasta pasta I must say the presentation of the plate was great. I was overjoyed to try this jerk chicken and I got the first few bites I didn't feel that spicy Caribbean jerk chicken I was dying for. The plate was good. there were flavors but not the flavors I was hoping for. I left wanting it. I will try this place once again and hope this was just a hiccup . The epitome of bad customer service perfectly describes this place. Went in with two of my friends to grab a drink at the bar, we decided on two shots to start off; fireball. Simple order, the bartender pours about 2 ounces each and says its $6 each. After handing her $20 we were ignored and the change never came. I spoke up about getting my change and then there was another gentleman who told us she was training and that the shots were actually $8. No apologies were offered. Footprints is one of my favorite restaurants in New York. I love the food here! One of my many favorite dishes here is the Rasta Pasta with Jerk chicken strips. You dont have to select chicken as you can also choose steak shrimp ect but any choice is definitely heaven on a plate. Ive tried Rasta pasta at other places such as Negril Restaurant NYC and its nothing like this. They have an extensive menu with everything that you can imagine. I can go on and on about the menu but I'll just say that everything is VERY fresh, delicious and everything is made on premises. The drink menu here is great as well. Crazy drink names and crazy mixtures. The drinks here are very strong so you will certainly get your moneys worth. The only cons are that at times service can be very slow and after 9pm guys can not wear tank tops even if its blazing summer heat outside which I find to be ridiculous!!! But anyway I highly highly recommend going here and checking out the Rasta pasta!!!! read more

Hostess in training was very pleasant and helpful. She's why they have a star. Restaurant is empty, both upstairs and downstairs. There was 10 people upstairs including the wait staff. Yet it takes 5 minutes to get some water and 20 minutes before our waitress greets us to take our order. We wait another 30 for drinks & appetizers. The bar tender mistakenly gives us two rum punches, which we didn't touch. Our waitress walks by 5 mins later without a word and grabs it from the table in a huff. Imagine if we tasted it. Her demeanor worsened after that. 15 minutes later one of our entrees comes out. Foods cold. I had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the 2nd entree which came out with hair in it. Our water was never refilled nor did she check in to figure out if everything was ok. After another 15 minute wait, we had to approach her for the bill. In a restaurant with more wait staff then patrons, the service should be decent at the very least. But it's Footprints after all, service is trash, wait is horrendous, and foods a hit or miss. read more

Im only giving this place 1 star which is generous because the customer service was horrible and our waitress was even worse. The rum punch was awesome. When we got our bill we noticed a $6 extra charge because they used wray and nephew jamaican rum..this charge was not mentioned on the menu nor by our waitress smh...we asked for a manager who was very apologetic but did nothing to compensate our loss even though it was only $6 it was the lack of communication. Don't waste your time or your money here. Food is below average (I ordered the shrimp salad), ambiance is non-existent, and service is pretty poor. I went here on a Saturday afternoon and there was no one here. The music was literally on full blast (not even exaggerating) which was very obnoxious so I asked them to turn it down, which thankfully they did. My waitress was nice but all the other staff were not friendly and acted like they didn't care about their jobs. This is one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I had lunch here on an outing with a friend and her family, they tend to come here regularly. It's Jamaican based, so you can get anything from jerk chicken to curry and roti. I went for the rasta pasta with grilled chicken and my friend had the same with jerk chicken. The pasta was pretty good, very creamy and thick. However, they cooked the noodles a bit too long, they were falling apart. I did prefer the jerk chicken over my grilled chicken though. I also had a raspberry iced tea, which was nothing special. For dessert, I had the red velvet cheesecake and my friend had the Bailey's cheesecake. Once again, both were decent but nothing special. The service was satisfactory. There were a few times where she took her time tending to our table, even though the restaurant was relatively empty and she wasn't the only waiter on call. A little less talking and giggling, a little more attentiveness would be appreciated. The outlook of this place is more of a bar than it is a family oriented restaurant, just saying. It was very dark but spacious. But for some odd reason, every active television in the place was tuned into MTV. Not the best thing to watch when I'm eating, watching Snooki and JWow complain about how they're fat or how that guy at the club was so hot is just not my thing. read more

Ordered the Burbon grilled chicken and shrimp and I'll say it was righteous the favors were out of bounds in flavor town (I copied that from Guy Fieri) and that statement rings true with this establishment . Terrible restaurant. If I can give negative 5 stars, I sure will. We had 5 people going in on a Friday night after the Brooklyn Cyclones game. The food and service were both terrible. The Caribbean salad was supposed to have mangoes and tropical fruits in it, I could barely find any in my salad. I also ordered a goat roti and the roti was so cold and dry it's almost not edible. The waitress and bus boy both rushed us through the dinner, demanding to take our plates even when we were not done eating. They didn't even attempt to stretch their arms to collect our plates, we had to pass our plates to them. At the end of the evening, they had the guts to overcharge me for the salad. (The salad was listed 7.95 on the menu and I had to pay 9.95.). When I demanded to know why, the waitress said it's listed at the bottom of the menu, star items were subjected to change according to market price! First of all, the listing about market price was substantially lighter than the rest of the menu it's close to unreadable. Second, there's NO star beside the Caribbean salad. Third, my salad was just a regular salad with lettuce and onion, and barely any fruit in it. Seriously, who would have charged market price on a regular salad? This was totally ridiculous, GREEDY BLOODSUCKERS! If it's not for my tired friends waiting for me to go home at the end of the day, I would have nagged them to change the bill until dawn. read more
